QUOTE
Taiwan-based motherboard makers including Micro-Star International (MSI), Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology have all raised their motherboard prices to reflect the rising cost from labor and key components such as print circuited boards (PCB), according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.

MSI recently announced at CeBIT 2011 that the company would raise its motherboard prices by about 5-10% starting March 1, while Asustek and Gigabyte already increased their prices in February, the paper added.

Here is something to think about.
MSI having a direct online sales in here forum, something like Dell's model whilst retaining the distro & retailers, possible?
*
the rational of a normal user is that,
when a manufacturer sells something it would be cheaper than going over several hands

this is true for dell, as in great success Apple as their business concept includes Point of Sales too
but think about this

Online Sales is one point to selling stuff
managing it should be low in cost, but majority of normal user still prefers face to face dealings
this would then incur actual COD time or even a shop outlet to be set up

The next step from here is setting up stores
which only to cater to a single brand product (Apple Store)
This would means investment to facilities where other might provide (local shops) more efficiently
(Apple store works because they dun have the initial Fab investment, the manufacturing happens on another company, MSI and other mobo are manufacturer, which has it initial investment there)

SO if a mobo manufacturer do sells themselves
One of three scenario happens
1. They would sell cheaper than local reseller, but then no reseller would take their product to sell, since this is undercutting their profit. This would cut off more reaches in remote places (like how Apple store is only at Big cities)
2. They would sell higher than the market price, as to placate the reseller, but then again What is the point?
3. They would sell at the same price, but then again, how are they gonna govern the pricing, as even between reseller are some difference to the pricing

Basically all three would lead to one thing
More investment that does not gonna give good returns

so a manufacturer always have to rely on local distributor and reseller to reach out to the most
as the infrastructure is already there, why not use it.. right

it is how they control and supports them that is the deal breaker
as shown by MSI, which for me is considered excellent thumbup.gif

jokermerah

what kind of difference you are expecting
and are you having issues with the card right now?? stuttering, dropped frames etc

I have to ask you, are you satisfy with the one you have right now
As the gtx560 is some what similar to gtx470

so of course there is a difference, numberwise as shown here
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/313?vs=330

but whether you can detect them is another case
and i highly doubt you can, no offense.. smile.gif

So are you having issues on HD videos quality

or have you seen the same video on a different machine that is much better?

these kind of things (quality, taste etc) is very subjective
unless you have a proper side by side comparison, it is hard to pinpoint problem, if it does exist

btw, what type of monitor you running?

i have no problem playing MKV HD of transformer 2 on my 9600GT
the only hiccup i see is that initially jerkyness is because of bad codec installing

after a fix it is much better but it does stress my processor nearing the max

so it is safe to say there should be no noticeable improvement by upgrading
