MSI 6870

user posted image

Recently i got the opportunity to test the 6870 from MSI. Now lets not waste any time and get to the testing and photo.

Here's the front of the box and the rear. The front is filled with the MSI's Afterburner theme design and the rear is as usual with those boring spec and minimum system requirement

The card is of a standard reference design and come with the usual accessories.

The card came with 1120 stream processor and 1GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256bit memory bus.The core come clocked at 900mhz and the memory at 1050mhz. The cooler of this card is one of those usual reference cooler and one of my gripe of this card came from the cooler. Its noisy and doesnt provide the cooling that up to my standard but that is expected.

Asus P75P55D
Team Extreem Dark 1600mhz CL9 4gb Kit
Samsung F3 1tb
Xigmatek 750w
Cooling system consist of Heatkiller 3.0 CPU Waterblock,Hardwarelabs SR1 240 Radiator,Laing D5 Pump,DP Ultra Coolant,Bitspower Fitting,Primochill 7/16 5/8 tubing,Noiseblocker XLP fan and a XSPC D5 Bayres.

Let's get to the benchmark results and setting used.

I run all the games at 1920 x 1080 resolution with the highest possible setting allowed by the game and with VSync off.

As u can see the new Crysis 2 is playable at Extreme setting with the lowest fps just above 30fps which is really good. The new Need For Speed run without a hitch on this card.

Here's the benchmark result which is useless to some but valuable to others. tongue.gif

Here's my conclusion on the card. It is really powerful for that kind of money that u gonna spend on it. Surprised me that it can run the new Crysis with no lag at all. If u gonna spend some moolah on a new card then dont overlook this one. The cons for me is only 1 thing, the cooler. It is loud and doesnt provide the cooling result that up to my standard but then again its just me and others might say otherwise.

And that conclude my testing of the MSI 6870. Thanks to MSI Malaysia and Sanko for putting up with the delay on my part of publishing this and im really sorry for the delay.

Thanks and have a good one.
