hmmm... for my opinion, those using short call is cheap. lets say, i'm calling my bro and asking "have you arrive?". i think this should only last for around 10 second. means i only need to pay for 8 cents. isnt that cheap for short call. lets say if i using digi and i call and say "have you arrive?", the call charges should be 18 cents.

i'm not telling you to make short call. you also can make longer calls. its all up to you. i'm just telling that making short calls is cheap. lets say, i call a person. 1st time, it goes into voice mail. i'm only charged for 1 or 2 seconds. 2nd call, its also going into voice mail. so i'm only spending around 5 cents for those 2 calls. but if you are using digi, do you know that for those 2 calls you are being charged for 36 cents? i can save 31 cents on that alone.

HAPPY - Choose short call or calls above 5 mins....

Is your sim is postpaid? You need to use with 3g phone. If prepaid, you try to call 0183881318 customer service.

Free starter only 7 days if no reload done. Means after you topup, the validity period is usual, after expired, you may only have inbound connection for 100days.

Most telco plans (Celcom, Maxis, and newer DiGi plans) they are charging you by 30-seconds block.

So meaning to say, that if you only call your friend telling him that you have arrived at the meeting point will usually use like 5-10 seconds of call time - which you will be charged at 30seconds rate (since you've already use 1 block). This also applies if you only talk to 31 seconds (you will have to pay for 1 minute of talk time, since you're already using 2 blocks).

With umobile, right now they charge you by the seconds. So if you use 5 sec, then you only pay 5 seconds smile.gif

-my current bill is rm54.00 only from end of june till end of august....how they calculate? my august bill is only rm1.92....
i was shock as i expect them to charge me RM38+RM38+purata for june=more than RM76+++

U mobile is cheap if you do not use it.

As far as I know... (been using iTalk since early last year)... All calls mobile - mobile is 25 sen per minute(20 sec block).. no regional charge. Means, Maxis northern to Celcom Sabah cost also the same (25 sen).

It is quite the same for calling landline(mobile -> landline), just the rate is slightly lower (24 sen)

i think, if they provide call fowarding service then it can lah.. not sure about u mobile.. but celcom only provide call fowarding service to their postpaid customer..

i noticed that, some people mis-understand that umobile is a celcom company.. that is not true.. umobile only use celcom gsm network. and they have to pay for it.

they signing an domestic roaming agreement with celcom since umobile doesnt have their own infrastructure.. so that their customer can enjoy celcom widest gsm coverage.

however, this agreement doesnt include 3g coverage.

so, dont ask 'can i use celcom topup to reload my umobile number' lol..

Imho it is really slow in Malacca. What a waste to consumer. Furthermore, I do see how it is going to compete with Red and Yellow which have established themselves.

Umobile actually offer a very good deals..

- 1sec/block
- 20% free airtime for any reload
- Free call/sms within umobile network
- widest 2G coverage (because using Celcom network)

for me its great.. the only reason why im not take 018 number because i already got so many numbers..

Actually, starter pack inside got rm1, 7 days expiry once you activate. Then, Rm10 reload the price you pay for. Each denomination comes with 20% bonus, and there is Rm12 plus initial Rm1, so Rm13 total value.
Yes, the 1 hour free call is valid only to U Mobile to U Mobile for prepaid.
Not sure whether they coming to Kuantan or not, but sure can use at Kuantan.

I do wonder why so many people are so willing to change to 018...

I do think the charges they put out for calling is quite expensive... I mean I'm a normal guy so when I call my friends I talk for at least 30 secs... and not just 1 sec... So it's quite usual to be billed for the 30 secs block... Is there alot of ppl calling ppl for 1 sec only meh??

It's just a thought only ok... so please dun flame...

I'm on DIGI now and so far I dun not see any reason U Mobile is giving to change to them...

What do you guys think?

1sec/block can save more $$$ actually.. i like this idea.

and 20% extra credit, very worthy to take it.. reload rm10 got rm2, reload rm30 got rm6.. very good deals.

plus other promotion such as free call and sms to all umobile number nationwide. eventhough its not unlimited, but still very good offer..

do u got such offer from hotlink?

their gsm coverage as good as celcom since their using celcom network, that also another good reason to choose umobile

but the problem is umobile still dont have customer base or market share, and they also dont have die hard fan yet like other telcos.

I agree with this, especially for prepaid. Even it is per sec billing, the call rate is about 0.8sen/sec which round up to approx 1 sen 1 sec. That's 48sen/min compared to 36 or 33 sen for other telco. Let's say you make a short call about 15-30 sec, i don't see that much savings, unless you do make a lot of calls that are shorter than 5 secs.

The only bonus i see worth noticing is the 1 hr free call daily to other 018 numbers.

Duh.. I'm annoyed with 018. Just now I made a call to my wife, talk for less than 1 minute, the signal gone off. Then I call back a minute later and we talked for 3 minutes, my call dropped. I tried to call again and failed. 018 center send a few sms to me, "You have insuficient fund to make more call. Please recharge". I checked my balance, still got RM8.xx and that's not enough to make a call? Wtf?! I'm getting pissed. As soon as the credit finish, I'll throw away the sim!

u DiGi supporter another con case... 36sen is IF u use the prepaid I like or the chatplus.
if u use Fuyoh!/Beyond normal rates is 48sens

double checked with the hotlink website. it's 49 sen to other networks, 36 to maxis. wow, i think i did miss that one out, not knowing maxis is that expensive. coz maxis now charge in 60 sec block, means a less than 5 sec call can be 49 sen straight. but i guess if u're a regular user which reload every month, you'll get the 33 sen.

however i'm still not convienced that per sec billing will save you $$$, since it's call rate is actually 48sen/min. it still depends on your call pattern. if u mobile can give 33sen/min & per sec call rate, then it's definitely saving.

anyone see or own the umobile SOU phone already? just saw it in the papers today. is it nice?

Another thing, if I'm not mistaken, is that you can only pay your Postpaid bill in Berjaya Times Square in KL...

Has the line been registered by your friend? If not, you have to get it registered and the line will be activated within 24 hours once the registration form has been received and finalized. U-mobile is using Celcom's coverage as far as I know. Top-ups so far I heard it's only available at 7-Eleven outlets and the Umobile centers.

From my own opinion, Umobile is not really a good and reliable line to use for long term. The service is bad especially making calls shakehead.gif

U mobile suck big time man.

I went to IOI to subcribe for broadband service last 2 week ago and was given a Simcard and that it.
Saleman told me 3-4 days to activate. After 4th day I call hotline to enquire and was shock they told me
the number was registered to other person and was told to call back the saleman who sold me the card.
I call him and he apologise and blame umobile HQ for the mess up. He gave me another no and was told
to wait another 4-5 days. WTF! Nevermind i wait.... after 5 full day i call the saleman up and he told me they
already submitted. I make noise and then they gave me another number this time. WTF again. I call umobile
and they say is all the dealer fault. Nothing to do with them. Really WTF with umobile.

Today I finally call the saleman and was told it was activated. But WTF... I can't get thru umobile hotline at all
to do setting for my phone to connect to 3.5G network. Waited 30 minute listening to voice message and music
I finally hangup. Call again and same thing. This will be my first and last experience with umobile until they
buckup. The people answering the hotline is also not well manner and unhelpful. shakehead.gif

Btw... anyone has setting for umobile broadband 3G network? Can share with me?
I am using HTC 3600i. notworthy.gif

QUOTE(mr-2 @ Nov 29 2008, 08:07 PM)

*
I agree on that statement about the Umobile CS. It's really terrible. They should buck up. Besides that time when I was having problem calling and after being able to call, I was charge a couple of buck calling another 018 number when it is supposed to be free. I asked the CS operator and she even dare to tell me I wasn't charge. When I asked her again how come my credit shows me a lesser balance than before I made the call she couldn't even answer. Besides that, I also inquired and confirm about the free calls to all 018 number dateline, that same operator can tell me something which contradicts with the information in the webpage...

I made a mistake getting this SIM pack even though it's free SIM pack and regret getting this SIM pack doh.gif

when you use u-mobile on celcom network (when you put it into a non 3g phone) quite often you will get the network busy signal. very hard to make calls, gotta try like up to 4-5 attempts only can go through.

however i never experience this before using a celcom sim at the same location. i wonder if there's actually a limit on how much u-mobile can use celcom 2g network.

that is only for calls and sms to other 018 numbers, did you try calling other numbers?

the free calls, you just call, you can see the last call cost but it won't be deducted from your credit. it's so nice to see an 1 hour call will cost about rm28++ and yet not deducted from your credit. biggrin.gif

hye... i oso use U-mobile... but postpaid lar... prepaid my gf use it...

so far, since sept 08 i use, i hate the U-mobile coverage... always busy.. and need to try so many time, only then can make a call... and oso my friend oso can't call me, because of the same problem... number is busy...
yeah.. U-mobile operator service is like shit... they seem don wan to faced us, a customer complaint....
beside, when i'm going to pay bill (b4 tis M2U dun hav yet), they oni use rough paper to bill in my payment... hahaha~ funny lar... Mr Vincent Tan
very kedekut arr to buy a payment system for their distributor?
oherwise, U-mobile oso can't make a video call, MMS, internet, and oso cannot send SMS to third party telco (such as 33221, 33554, etc etc).. WTH??
thank God I still can receive TAC from M2U and CIMB.... hahaha....

So, my conclusion.... U-Mobile is a new telco rite... let give them time to improve their system etc.... pls dun end up like MiTV.... We know, they hav BIG thinking, but SMALL brain.... We are in Hi-Tech era..... Pls improve, or else, we throw away ur simcard....

hehehe... btw, I still use U-mobile... coz lazy to change it in short time... my friends will scold me lor... hahaha!
but, i have register a new DIGI postpaid + Sup-line..... hehehe... for standby only...

haa forgot one thing.... U-mobile oso gave a lied to me... what we saw in the ads... ARE TOTALLY not we will get.... PLEASE TEACH and UPDATED INFO YOUR DISTRIBUTOR AND DEALER about your NEW promotion.... they seem dunno anything.... i hate this.... only wanna sell the simcard... but dunno what they sell....

U-mobile oso dun hav sup-line.... hahaha...

Your statement is abit harsh. haha. but u hv to take into account that Umobile is barely 1 yrs old and still haven't fully launch nationwide yet. and other telco's are already matured in this industry but still having problems such as drop calls and etc. My maxis 3g sucks in penang as well, and voice call still drop when switching from 3g to 2g! and how long hv they been around?

Lots of shops. I can see a lot of dealers at Kompleks Sungai Buloh selling the starter pack at a price, some as much as RM 88 just because the number is nice.

it is sort of "illegal" to sell starter pack with "nice" number at more than the RRP

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has experienced this.

Both myself and my girlfriend are using umobile. We signed up together as we thought it would be cheaper with their foc call.

I sent a couple of MMS pictures to my girlfriend during Christmas. She did not receive any of those.

Yesterday, valentine eve, I sent a couple of MMS pictures wishing her valentine and she did not receive any of my MMS pictures.

Its weird as my phone said its sent and they deducted from my credits. And, my girlfriend uses a MMS capable phone and she could receive MMS pictures when she was on maxis before.

Maybe its a waste of time sending MMS on umobile! -) Somehow I feel cheated as they deducted my credit.!!! vmad.gif

(Hope umobile reading this!!)

Hi guys!

there's lots of threads regarding U Mobile ... especially in its younger days (mid-2008) ...

instead of continuing the old threads, i'm hoping this new thread can share all of your new insights towards U Mobile (in the area of service quality, coverage, advertisement, products promotions, customer service, con/cheating cases, etc.)

i am a U Mobile user only (voice and 3G), so please don't start flaming me for starting this sweat.gif

i use umobile since last year. at that time, their speed was very good but the coverage was very poor between 1 to 2 bar only. sometime i got no signal bar at all but i still can surf the internet. because of that i always got disconnected eventhough i had complained so many times. at last, i complained to SKMM then only they called me to ask about the problem. i had to wait for about 2months for them to make the coverage full. now, i think i am happy with their service. my download can reach more than 300kbps. icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

i got my postpaid number early last month ...

first few weeks: intermittent dropped calls (disconnected)
nowadays: less interruption, calls are stable now ...

i use 3G data via my phone. checking gmail and others. Sometimes, certain websites can't be accessed ("Page does not exist" error for www.anandtech.com!)

haven't tried 3G broadband on my lappy 'cuz i don't have the modem ... saw at lowyat.net (celcom) selling the new huawei modem at RM399 .. still way way expensive ... i'd rather use Streamyx smile.gif

voice calls, most of the times, my calls laster avg 15-30 minutes ... compared to maxis (my other line), quite ok lah the charges ...

if u mobile can improve the network quality, it'd be great ...

customer service: haven't called them yet! hopefully it's not as bad as before (saw other threads complaining them like hell!)

advertisements: tv commercial quite interesting ... heard the new ads on radio ... "call to india like calling to jalan masjid india" good one smile.gif

events: saw them doing the Valentine event at Sunway Pyramid on 14 Feb. It's interesting to see the company focusing more on entertainment/brand functions to its customers *than* just selling the products ... hope to see more of these from D/M/C smile.gif

I've heard from two different people in the business now that U's days are numbered - their customer acquisition has been too slow and too expensive and they are bleeding money.

Too bad, I guess they never really came up with anything innovative or different to draw customers away from the incumbents.

And since they don't have their own infrastructure, they can't cheaply do the obvious thing that second-generation players do to build up market share: permanent offer of unlimited free calls between U-Mobile subscribers.

I would have expected them to at least offer international calling at loss-leader rates, but they didn't do that either. Instead they focused on hiring really pushy salespeople who pissed off potential customers.

i registered for their broadband service in sg wang last sat during their roadshows and the line is not open until now!!!

i went to one of their agent's store in sg. wang again on saturday wanted to cancel the line, they told me cannot cancel coz in progress already and they promise will activate the line on the same day.

today is monday and the line is not activated. i called their agent and they said they will check.

I agree with what AlexKong mentioned. I have the same problem. I bought 2 umobile nomber because a lot a free stuff inside and cheap whithin same network. I pass one to my friend.

At first, I am very happy to use it because every MMS i send is just 25 cents. A picture is worth more than what i say in a sms. It also save time.

So, i keep on capture every part of my day and MMS it out to my friend to tell what i currently doing.

Things goes well all time. But when my friend travel back to mentakab for holiday. All my MMS is sent. I tot it was ok.

But sadly my friend told me that no MMS is received. I was curious and i try to sent more MMS. The MMS is sent successfully and my money is deducted. I tot it was ok.

But then, my friend told me that there is internet profile error message.

So i call to UMobile and they told me that the receiver must be also in 3G coverage which is klang valey, ipoh and seremban.

Then i also ask about the refund of MMS charges which doesnt reach the receiver. They could not do also.

I really think that they (UMobile) should only charge the customer if the MMS is received by customer. People only get paid when the service is done.

But UMobile seem like doesnt work that way.

Added on March 16, 2009, 9:42 pmBTW, just noticed that U Mobile prepaid has a new voice calls rate, 0.7 sen/sec (old was 0.8). Called them up, said old users are not transferred to this new rate scheme. Dang!

0.7 sen/sec will be 42 sens/min voice call charged for prepaid users right. a bit expensive. if they can reduce the rate to 30 sens/min overall, then i think of getting 1.

well, u-mobile target customers who always talk less than 1 minutes (few seconds). thats why if take one minute charge, of course its expensive... if its 10-20 seconds as example, then here is the advantage of umobile.

btw, seems like many complaints about umobile erk....after all, from the beginning, they need to do something extraordinary to surpass the big barriers of other oldtimers (digi, mxs, celcom). and with the so many con cases reported, i am afraid it just make their chance worsed...

U Mobile suits me for two reasons:

1) 8 sen SMS to all networks
2) My calls, while quite medium long, I notice is always a few seconds after some normal block i.e. 1 minute and 4 seconds, 3 minutes and 12 seconds. As I have said before, U Mobile can be cheaper at the early parts of a normal charging block. Pay for what you need. It is true if you were to strictly judge on per minute basis, it can be expensive. But with my pattern of usage, I notice I save more than the time when I was using hotlink. I like their per second charge block.

Besides, I've got a nice number... smile.gif

u must understand the agreement between u mobile and celcom.. u mobile roam into celcom gsm network wherever they dont have coverage

and the problem is celcom only allow umobile user to use voice call and sms using their network.. celcom did not allow any data services (such as mms, and gprs) if im not mistaken..

u mobile also cannot offer lower call rates since they buy bundle airtime from celcom.. unless celcom sell their airtime at lower price. but thing will get better soon when umobile expand their coverage and not depend on celcom network anymore..

i think in order to success u mobile need to be different and unique.. maxis, celcom and digi are very well established company, with huge user base and complete infrastructure.. and with current penetration almost 100% there is no chance for u mobile to gain new customer unless stealing the maxis/celcom/digi customer..

maybe u mobile can use divide and conquer technic, such as focusing on certain local community by offering lowest call among them. i still remember when celcom introduce 'Celcom Zone' offering 28sen/min call at few kampung at my area few years ago lol.. Ringlet (cameron highland) and Bukit Tinggi are example of Celcom Zone at that time..

Added on March 16, 2009, 9:42 pmBTW, just noticed that U Mobile prepaid has a new voice calls rate, 0.7 sen/sec (old was 0.8). Called them up, said old users are not transferred to this new rate scheme. Dang!

well, u-mobile target customers who always talk less than 1 minutes (few seconds). thats why if take one minute charge, of course its expensive... if its 10-20 seconds as example, then here is the advantage of umobile.

btw, seems like many complaints about umobile erk....after all, from the beginning, they need to do something extraordinary to surpass the big barriers of other oldtimers (digi, mxs, celcom). and with the so many con cases reported, i am afraid it just make their chance worsed...
*
maybe it'd be safe not to go to those small dealers .. just go directly to U Mobile service centres (e.g. BTS, Pyramid, etc.) These are the official, legit centres, ran by U Mobile staffs ...

confession sweat.gif i'm a U Mobile postpaid user (secondary line) ... primary line is Maxis (first mobile line and been using for >~8 years) .... haven't gotten my bill yet to compare charges. But U Mobile's quality wise, it's almost on par with Maxis' ... of course comparing U Mobile vs Maxis is like comparing Orange vs Green Apple (pun intended!) .... both have their fair share of pros and cons anyway ....

like what monara mentioned, if you're a quick chatter, U Mobile is acceptable/affordable .... if you're a serious/sophisticated chatter, want all-in-one service with cheap charges, then other telcos are better (bottom line) wink.gif

How they come out with this rate?
Voice Call 0.7 sen/sec
(35 sen/min) *

*Rates show inclusive of 20% airtime bonus when you top up your U Mobile 018 Prepaid

My formula ( less 20% since every topup they give 20% extra credit)
RM0.48/minutes x 80% =RM0.384/minutes

Why the earth they can come out with RM0.35/mintues?

20 April 2009 – KT Freetel (KTF), South Korea's second-largest mobile operator, is to sell-off its 16.5 percent stake in Malaysian mobile operator, U Mobile, reports Bloomberg. Citing a KTF regulatory filing, the report said that KTF will sell its 62.6 million shares in the operator to U Mobile's majority shareholder, U Television, in a deal said to be worth at least US$100 million. The sale is deemed to be a move by KTF to avoid losses on its investment. KTF and Japanese partner operator NTT DoCoMo (a stakeholder in KTF) bought a 33 percent stake in U Mobile in December 2007 for US$200 million with the stake divided equally between the two firms.

Since launch in 2007, U Mobile - a specialist 3G operator - has struggled to compete with its larger competitors in Malaysia, reportedly attracting less than 200,000 subscribers by the end of last year. According to Wireless Intelligence data, the market is led by Maxis, which had 9.7 million mobile connections by year-end, followed by Celcom (8.7 million) and DiGi (7.1 million).

Umobile will going to bankrupt lol..

if 0.7 sen per seconds, then it is 42 sen per minutes right?

RM0.42/minutes * 80% = RM0.336/minutes

Why not another way round?
$0.007/second x 60 = $0.42
Since its free 20% with topup
$0.42/minutes x 80% = $0.336

20% bonus is for the topup value, not the call charge itself

that's why they always put "20% bonus airtime for every topup" ... they didn't mention 20% bonus on your call rate ...

seriously, the way they put it is a bit misleading/confusing ...

KTF bailing out may not be directly due to U Mobile itself, but due to its merging with 1-KT on 1st June 09.

whatever the case, we'll see after 1st June if U Mobile going to announce anything to the public (if any)

in my opinion U mobile is onli suitable for a secondary supplementary line cuz in terms of the its reload validity or a minute's call it has no match for Digi n Hotlink..i bought 4numbers of U mobile n am now changing 3 to Digi n 1 to Hotlink just after 2weeks of usage cuz i cant maintain so many numbers while for Digi n Hotlink i can maintain ny subscribing to their 1year validity plan..

U mobile has no 1year validity unlike Digi and Hotlink.
erm even if U mobile has i wudnt choose it either cuz of its call charges which comes up to 0.48sen per minute even with the 20% reload bonus the charges per minute wud be 0.35 per minute n its still more expensive than other Telcos..but definitely a good choice if all ur calls r shorter than 10seconds or even 20seconds but i seldom make short calls so no point..and no FNF or Active 10 like Digi or Hotlink respectively another disadvantage for U mobile..
n ya u need pay RM33 for Hotlink 365 for 1 year validity n RM30 for Digi Long Life plan for the same validity smile.gif

few months ago i saw their website, they got this U Buddy Service promo (like FNF or Activ10) ... it's unlimited number of frens ....

limitations:

1) u haf to pay RM10 each month for that service ...
2) postpaid only. dunno if prepaid got or now ...
3) free voice calls up to 30 hours/month ...

only that this telco not much promotion and dun have much value added service
the thing i miss is
activ10/FnF
1yr validity period
broadband choices for postpaid, like 50mb for rm30 a month for example
sms using postpaid to another network still expensive

me a U Mobile postpaid for 6 months ... line ok too ... not much complain against Digi (my primary line) .. i have more problems iwth Digi than U Mobile, surprisingly!

agree with u, not much beneficial/advantage promotions.

the rest of their promotions like "U Buddy Service" is like Activ10/FnF but need to pay RM10 to 'subscribe'. why no free?? [see my post #230]

Our rates have not been increased, in fact they have been lowered. We have only changed our rating blocks; from per second to 30-sec in order to be in line with other industry players.

lol, last time when umobile promoted their 1s billing, lots of ppl didnt like it cuz they were complaining it's ridiculous and if summed up to 30sec/60sec block, overall charge is higher.

now umobile standardized their charging block to 30sec so that it is easy for users to compare apple-2-apple with others.

well, it's not easy to please the whole market biggrin.gif

U Mobile to ride on DiGi's EDGE network

QUOTE
3G operator U Mobile has signed a 3-year domestic roaming agreement with DiGi that would allow U Mobile subscribers to roam on DiGi's EDGE network.

The agreement makes DiGi an exclusive provider of domestic roaming traffic services for U Mobile. U Mobile officials mentioned that they will only begin riding on DiGi’s EDGE networks after the domestic agreement with Celcom ends. Due to confidentiality reasons, U Mobile wasn’t able to disclose the exact date but it’s believed to be some time next year.

U Mobile signed a domestic roaming agreement with Celcom in 2007, however the agreement is limited to voice and SMS only. The roaming agreement with DiGi will allow U Mobile subscribers to enjoy voice, SMS and data services (GPRS/EDGE) nationwide including seamless hand-over of voice calls from U Mobile’s 3G network to DiGi’s 2G network.

lol it's a program for existing customers smile.gif better than nothing la

hmm, cheaper call rates? i thought the "refreshed" call rates already competitive mahh.

there won't be any telco giving ultra-ultra-low call rates without making any money. there must be a break-even point to offer such rates.

for example: Digi. they offer great rates for Digi-to-Digi calls. i got lots of Maxis/Celcom frens, calling them on digi still not the cheapest.

advertising is necessary lah ...

can u say why Coke & Pepsi spending multi-billions dollars in advertising (esp. in fast food restaurant e.g. McDonald's and KFC) and not reduce their Coke/Pepsi price OR ask McDonald's/KFC to reduce their drinks' price?

same to Maxis/Celcom/Digi/P1/others ... all spending money on advertising.

speaking of umobile: i see they are already (slowly) enhancing their products:- U Mobile Broadband (more plans and prepaid options) and revised voice plans.

am sure they're come out more for us.

oh yeah, introducing new products is not easy for any companies. and it's not an overnight decision to do so either. There are R&Ds, studies, assessments, etc. etc. before a product can really be seen & used by us.

last time in my company, it took me & my team ~3 months to study the "new" products. Then 1-2 months for management to review/comments/amends/complains/rejects/approves/bla bla bla ...

at the end of the day, the "new" products came out 6-months later (from idea -> product realization in the market = mass market products).

That is WHY not all company (in the same industry) coming out with the same products AT THE SAME time.

for example: today, P1 intro new product. next month, maybe Maxis. Another month, maybe Digi. <-- anyone of u asked them WHEN did they really come up with this product/idea? the week b4 launch?

bad example..
u can see maxis and digi keep fighting toe to toe
last time digi 6 number Fnf, maxis 5 activ5
then digi introduce 11 numbers FnF, tomorrow maxis intro activ10

digi intro 36sen a min,
maxis follow 33sen a min
yes its not really a new "product" but thats how they play with the market

that's what we SEE in the market.

like i said it earlier, a new rate/product/feature that we see today was long decided before (weeks or maybe months).

let's see today: any new product/rate/features introduced by MAxis/Celcom/Digi? now is the "quiet" period. maybe next week/month, we'll get to see what are the "new" product/rate/feature.

i bought umobile prepaid card previously, juz for the sake of testing it. coverage is not dat good. and one more thing which i find it a hassle, is when u wanna to buy the reload. i know there's a lot of 7eleven here in KL. but, most of telco shops does not sell umobile reloads.
wat a hassle.
one good thing is, umobile centre is always empty. try to go and see to their outlet in Jusco AU3. empty! hehehe. no need to wait.

currently there are 2 standard prepaid plans: 018 Prepaid Plan and the new U Prepaid

U Prepaid has better and lower rates (18sen/min). Existing 018 Prepaid users need to switch to U Prepaid to get the lower rates.

3x Topup validity is a permanent feature.

Topup bonus (up to 15%) is a promo feature that ends on 31 December.

3G is quite limited - check out their coverage map. But this new plan, in addition to the existing voice roaming on Celcom, allows for data roaming on Celcom EDGE as well so unless you want extremely high speed I don't think coverage will be an issue.

and this :
and I go this link

http://u.com.my/prepaid-packages/rates-and-validity

got 2 package? meaning will be charge 35sen per minute? for U Mobile to Others
*
018 is the old package. I think new signups all default to the U prepaid plan (9 sen /30 sec to alll network, 8 sen SMS)

3 questions.

Q1=Anyway, does UM2G roaming on celcom network apply to UMobile broadband RM10/month for 100Mbs? or Can iPhone 2G use the RM10/month package?
http://u.com.my/broadband/plans

Service is available in U's 3G/HSDPA coverage area only. Data allowance includes combined upload & download data transfer. Actual speed and data capacity achieved vary depending on factors e.g. device/equipment used, location and network traffic at the time of use. Non-data use (voice calls, SMS/MMS, content, roaming and international call services) is subject to extra charge. Fair Use Policy applies. Excess charges of 5sen/MB apply if the data allowance is exceeded.

Q2=And; if i subscribe for RM10/30days, but my prepaid validity end on day 20, can I still use the broadband for the last 10 days?

Q3= If using iPhone 2G, can still get the 12sen rate on a 3G network? -noob question biggrin.gif

To fellow U mobile users, I found that RM68 3gb + voice call package is pretty attracting as compared to Digi RM68 unlimited package.

Somehow the network coverage for 3G is pretty bad across Malaysia, just if out of coverage area, will they switch to Celcom then?

Looking for a good backup plan.......already have a Digi Business 150, need something beside Digi in case Digi has no network coverage.

Maxis plan has been insanely expensive.....Looking for mobile data plan only, hardly call out, only for receiving purpose.

do note that the rm68 package does not come with unlimited internet, ie u need to pay 5cents/MB after you exceed monthly quota of 3gb

Hey fellas, I need you guys advices... What do you think about U-Mobile compare to Maxis, DiGi, and Celcom? How's the coverage, call quality, 3G quality and such. I'm using DiGi right now and thinking of switching to U-Mobile. The RM68 per month with voice, sms and data together really attracts me. Please tell me what you guys think. Thanks a lot man. Peace.

If now I top up $5, how long can I keep the number?

Hi there,

Umobile user here. I am using both prepaid and postpaid plans for my phones. Umobile prepaid on my blackberry and postpaid i ported from digi and using it on my sgs2 (U88). So far so good. Good coverage, speed is way better than when I am using digi. Have been using other telcos such as maxis and celcom, although i have yet to check on tunetalk, but all that i can say is so far, i am enjoying my umobile for both phones.

Free calls to umobile number on reloads, U88 (3gb plus free calls and sms to umobile and other telcos).

So far, so good.. :-)

oh my god, I've been using umobile postpaid for so long, and now suddenly they double charge me for my October bill. When ask them to deactivate their stupid technical error for activating ub20 onto my account, then they come up with tones of excuses and forced me to take the ub20, but when insist on canceling it and waived the charges, now they suddenly said my 10 days usage is double of all the months i've been using.

some more I don't always check the bills, just nice one time check and found out this. When want to waive off what they extra charge me, then suddenly want me to pay extra which is not in the bill at all. WTF man, this is so ridiculous. Mine is the enterprise account, then the account agent also never answer call from me when I want to check with him about my account issue. This is seriously no after sales service. Before sign up, talk like how good how good, after sign up, sh1tty service. Especially the customer service team, until i had to yell on them only they listen, which they weren't really listen. At the end had to bring this to the upper level only got people do some work, seriously sucks. doh.gif

Depending on your location loh. Klang Valley area should be the fastest.

I was just testing out the speed in BB area. Even though it was saying HSPA I didn't feel it was that fast though. And also the line was fluctuating between 3G and HSPA quite frequently

I am now in digi postpaid plan. Currently using 016. Can i still use this 016 number if i switch to U-mobile?

Is there any complaints or bad reviews on the 3G lately? I have done some surveys and it seems that maxis 3G is quite unstable.. I'm now changing from Digi family plan 30 to U-mobile postpaid which cost RM 28/month? Is it worth it?

I always advice DONT PUT IN THE UMOBILE SIMCARD TILL YOUR CURRENT TELCO SIM IS DEACIVATED, meaning you will see "Simcard Registration Failed" on your outgoing telco .

You would have to wait for another day of two BUT if u hav not put in the UM sim much earlier, it would have  been activated into UM by now

The reason why it is like that is there are TOO MANY MNP into UM (due to its attractive call packages) and deactivating by the outgoing telco takes time, what more you put in the new simcard b4 the old one is deactivated.

However if you port-into Digi/Celcom/Maxis from another telco it only take 2 days the most.to complete
you knoe why?

currently using celcom.. i want to mnp to umobile. the prepaid unlimited mobile internet is so tempting. can anyone explain what does this means?

"By subscribing to the Plan, you will enjoy unlimited data usage but you will still be subject to our Fair Use Policy. In addition, if you exceed 500MB at any time, your data speed will be reduced to 64kbps until the Plan expires. Once you activate another Plan, we will endeavor to reinstate your data speed as soon as possible upon your activation." - uM T&C

we can only use 500mb/mth data is it?

No, don't think they will. Spoke to one of their manager, always say the same thing to just cool the people down and perhaps even to wanting people to forget about the case. Well, it was supposedly affecting the prepaid customer for these few days unable to call/sms issue but a few postpaid customers also got affected, worse is, this isn't the first time. Only time they give out 3 waves of free sms to all network was due to the incident around october/november of some technical issue again.

Customer service suckss, then the operation also getting worse, so what's good left? IF still having the same problem with the internet, which the speed is slow, i'll definitely port out already since the only thing i like in u mobile also not up to expectation already

My number is in the middle of a half port from Digi prepaid to U-Mobile prepaid (Digi SIM is still receiving calls and sms although I could make calls from U-Mobile SIM). My U-Mobile SIM got activated yesterday and I checked that my was RM4.65 instead of RM5. This morning I checked that my balance further dropped to RM3.25. I switched off cellular data and only used wi-fi on my phone. I looked at the U portal for transaction history but there was "Nothing found to display". Does anybody know what these charges were for?

oh okay, thanks for the clarification.

Another question, if the place no umobile's coverage then it'll use celcom's coverage right? Is there any additional charges for that? For voice, data and sms?

no additional charges, but the data speed will be much slower under Celcom

the discounted IDD rates under IDD 1310 can only be used on Umobile 3G network too

Umobile Prepaid have new plan rules [for activation from 20 January 2012 onwards]

http://www.u.com.my/prepaid-packages/free_sms_and_free_call

Free Um-Um calls now only 12am-7pm, after that it is 6 sen/min

Free 20 sms (to Um) for every 6 sms sent, this apply during the same no of days as the free Um-Um calls

Reminds me how DiGi changed the Easy plan early last year

U-mobile and Digi service customer service sucks! I went to u-mobile last week to change from Digi postpaid to U-mobile Postpaid U28. Then they told me to wait 3-5 working days. So i waited for a week plus but i didn't receive any news or sms. I call up then they told me to wait for another 3-5 working days. So i waited again!!! After 5 working days, STILL NO NEWS. I call up again and they told me to WAIT ANOTHER 3-5 WORKING DAYS!!!! I got mad at that moment and scolded them. The staff is also so blur and they always push their jobs to another staff.

I received a message today and it stated there " Failed to port from Digi to u-mobile. " mad.gif vmad.gif I dont know how they handle their job. Next week is some more a public holiday and i have to wait for another week to go to the centre.

Poor management. Poor customer service.

NEED HELP ON THIS!!

I also bought my sim card fr 7eleven and was told to activate myself by dialing *118# and follow instruction given to keyin name & ic number...it took me less than a minute to get a reply that my sim card is active.

My advice to new user is to check coverage availaibility as not all area can get maximum coverage and avoid being dissapointed by none coverage.

LOW COST IDD CALLS BY U MOBILE ??? --- BULL SHIT !!!

I call to USA/CANADA to my parents there regularly.

Using the Low Cost IDD calls by dialling 1310 in front of the No will entitle you to Low Cost Rates , as advertise in UMobile web site and phamplets.

Guess what !!! When you dial using the code 1310, the response is that they can't reach the no there. !!!

What BULL SHIT !!!!

But when you dial using normal 001 XXX XXXXX then it just goes without any problem !!! At the same location and same No. Using 3G phone too.

So there is a case of MISREPRESENTATION by U mobile. Why advertise it when you can even call through or have problem getting thru ??? Or is this a GIMMICK ????

Maybe Tan Sri (Owner) should check what is happening in UMobile.

I am ONE frustrated U mobile user and so is my wife.

My mistake for thinking that Chinese Businessman are better in business than others !!!! LOL !!! sweat.gif

i have a new problem whereby my ported Umobile prepaid cannot call another umobile prepaid number. It just gets disconnected. I highly suspect that this is due to me being under the free calls period. Because the opposite number can call me back.

I tried at the same location and instance able to call every other number, and the opposite can also call my other Maxis line no problem...This is really frustrating. I don't even want free calls I just want to talk for bloody 10sens for 30 secs.

i have a new problem whereby my ported Umobile prepaid cannot call another umobile prepaid number.

*
i am having a similar problem, sometimes my ported umobile no cannot call another umobile no, just show conditional call forwarding active then ended call, but that umobile no can called me without any problem.... shocking.gif just now worst, can't even sent sms and make any outgoing call except telekom fixed line but incoming call can be received..... rclxub.gif

Register for postpaid U28 with uMobile 3 days ago. Today my number has ported from Digi. Sadly I can't surf 3G/2G/Edge. Do I need to turn on Data Roaming? rclxub.gif

Why my phone shows Roaming when I am in Malaysia? Did I miss something?

I am using Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i). I tried contacting the Customer Service and as always no reply. sweat.gif

Anyway I manually keyed in all the APN details and able to surf right now. Thanks for the info. rclxm9.gif

I do have some other questions:
1) Other than Mobile Internet and MMS APN, do I have to key in the WAP APN?
2) How do I check my current data usage and unbilled phone charges for uMobile?

How do you do that? I mean manually key in the APN? I can't use my Internet browser on my BB, only WAP and Hotspot browser available.

Anyone else have problem calling to another UM number? Me and my wife both using UM number and we can't call each other.. always getting call failed sad.gif any idea?

I have never use BB before but under your network settings you can find a list call APN (Access Point Name). Usually the telco company will send you the APN setting for MMS and internet but somehow UMobile didn't send to me. hmm.gif

To solve the problem, simply add another setting in the APN list. Refer to the setting details here: http://u.com.my/how/phone-settings

Yes, I found it is much easier to connect the call if both side are on Um 3G network rather than Celcom 2G.

Just want to share....first time U-mobile user. I bought the U-28 a few days ago for the missus new galaxy tab....this is what happened:

1) Register at U-mobile tropicana city branch. Got the SIM card, no advance payment..Happy!
2) 2 hours later....someone from U-mobile called and says the SIM card i am having got problems cannot use....asked whether i am still at Tropicana City...WTF....i already left elsewhere, but ok, since i got time that day, i went back later.
3) Went back to Tropicana City, exchange the new SIM. Ask the salesgirl if this is really activated and no problem. She says ok.
4) Later that night, put the SIM in my missus galaxy tab...ok working, but speed not so good....download 1Mbps+, upload only a miserable 69kbps!!!
5) Transfer all the contacts from missus phone to tab....playing with the contacts...then the call logs...found there was a call made to ME earliar in the day....i was puzzled initially....coz i haven't made any calls with the tab with the SIM yet....then i realized.....the U-mobile salesgirl CALL ME TO GO BACK TO TROPICANA CITY USING MY SIM CARD!!!! WWTTTTFFFFFFF!!!!!

It's not so much the money, but this behaviour is unacceptable. How can they use the customer SIM card to call the customer for their mistake? They should not use it under ANY circumstances!!! Totally unprofessional monkey!!!

Aren't they all expired, valid until end 2011 ???

I did try last year, reported here somewhere. Often the staff blurred and you must call manager who will call HQ to confirm rclxub.gif Of course the next person will have it easier, so the lesson is we should all go around and spread the benefits.

When I showed it the first time they had never seen it before, and looked at the message carefully. It now still says until 31st Dec 2011, so I'm sure somebody will have problems.

U-M should spare customers the hassle and simply update the menu. It takes one employee one minute and saves their million subscribers from potential frustration and resentment.

Agree with you, it's definitely not right. Should you spare time to pop by u.com.my to inform them about this matter. At least they should learn.

i get 2 surprise when i changed my prepaid from digi to umobile

first is the discount - just redeemed 10% discount frm starbuck at ss15, at first the attendant seems blur about it..after asking the manager and get scolded only give me the discount..lol..feel sorry

then second is the free voice call to any u mobile number between 0000 to 1900 daily.

so far im very much satisfied...the line availability and surfing speed are a lot better compare to digi.
