For 11street & Lazada, seller will take care of GST & Import tax. You don't pay extra.
From what I know, wherever you buy it from, there is no local warranty available. Even if there is a local seller, they will not give you warranty for it. Still goes back to Nvidia US. Unfortunately this is the risk for buying (most) stuff which are not distributed locally.

I installed it, managed to get it to work for a mere few hours before I went to sleep (despite being buggy as hell I still could watch the channels), suddenly the next day the app kept crashing when opening. Clearing data and cache or even reinstalling didn't work.

yesterday nite try my new received Nvidia Shield 2017 16GB, after setup, only installed Kodi Krypton 17.6 and Quasar add on. Use Seagate External Hard Drive (Portable Backup Plus Slim USB 3.0) 2GB (NTFS format) as External Storage, when i set Quasar download path to any folder, error stating cannot write, after i check the forum, just find out only can be put into the external Hard Drive Android folder in the Data Subfolder for Kodi. i already set that and allow me to save into Quasar setting. But when i want to download the movie into that path using Quasar, initially the download speed higher and after a while, it keep droppimg until less than 10Kbps (sometimes the download will automatically dissapear). try to download less than 5GB movie, more than 5 GB movie and 80-90 GB movie, all the same. NOt the problem of the movie size or seeds/peers. Plug my Seagate external hard drive to my laptop, try to copy bluray movie from my laptop to the drive, can copy, so my drive is OK. fyi, i did not format my Seagate External Hard Drive as internal storage, still maintain it as external storage. try to format the seagate as internal storage, the problem still the same, download speed will keep dropping until less than 10KN (every time, the download % still maintain at 0% only). anyone know what the problems?

i have seen this problem u described.
it may be just a simple case of having to exit kodi in full and go back in... try that.

also... set the path to the internal storage and see if it works.
if it works, it should work on the ext hdd when path set to it.
check that wherever u set the path to, a folder named TDDOWNLOAD is created.

my previous Ubox Android 5.0, yes can save to any path or folder i want in my micro SD card. but this Nvidia shield (Android TV NOugat 7.0) quite restricted. maybe still novice, try to find more info in others forum. i already try to restart the shield few times, still the same. i will try to find more info how to set the path to any path in nvidia shield. on the same times, will try tonight to save it to internal storage (remain 11GB from 16GB).try whether
can download small size movie or not. bought this seagate 2TB, want to try at my ubox, just find out my ubox only support up to 1 TB external storage only. sianz......if really also cannot, worst case just download movie from my laptop to seagate external hard drive using uTorrent, and the play it at Nvidia shield...

ubox... i can understand... but 1TB limit is way too low.

my old android4 boxes can take 2TB ext.

newer one android7... can take 4TB ext.. internal sata drive up to 8TB.

kodi quasar path works good either way.


i am quite sure the shield can do what u want.

i will be surprised if there is some unique restriction to it.

for ubox, it can detected the drive, but when i use quasar to download the movie into that drive, after a while, download speed keep lowering and after that download windows dissapear. then i check the ubox forum external hard drive restriction, it state until 1 TB only. so i also do not understand it, why can detected the drive but cannot write data to that drive.

checking the nvidia shield forum, a lot of ppl complaining of nvidia shield restricted the write access to external hard drive...only on specific folder only...try to find more info whether got workaround on this issue or not...but the problem is, i also try format the my seagate so that it become part of the internal storage in nvidia shield, also quasar cannot download into it...really pening kepala...do not know what format my hard drive was after nvidia shield format, initially NTFS, after nvidia shield format to become internal storage, do not know what format, might be the format not compatible with quasar download...now little bit sianz, if know so many technical issue, might just follow bro AVFan bought Q10 with SATA HD

did you using Kodi with Quasar to download movie to external hard drive? problem cannot download to the external hard drive, after a while download speed become slower and slower....other box i try ok...this nvidia shield give me this problem....and only can set the quasar download path to specific path in the external hard drive....subjfolder in Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc...other path cannot write...after set to this Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc, also cannot download...

Becos there is the shield pro with 500gb internal storage for that purpose... they gotta sell this model too!
So, u just get what is available in internal storage... 10, 11gb.
It is a drawback i wont like too.
If u need more comments quasar, can discuss further at kodi or specific box thread.

Lastly... my bad... ignore this tddownload folder i mentioned... it is just an existing folder i used, nothing to do with quasar.
If u set the path to even the root drive, the video folder will appear at root level.
If u DL subs, it will appear as a new subtitles folder.

Don't know about the external drive restriction, but for the standard 16gb Shield, the storage can be increased via USB flash drive or SSD. So far even the 10-11gb is good enough for normal use coz I don't download movies through Kodi and I have less than 10 purchased games. Maybe there is some workaround for the Quasar issue?

For normal use, tv shows and movies, watch n remove, 10gb internal is sufficient.
It is only when u want to use kodi quasar to save for keeping, or go for 20, 30gb videos it becomes an issue.

I do not hv shield and did not know of this restriction, if true, until cyberkoh brought it up.
Just for knowledge, will google a bit n see if there is a workaround.

Totally frustrated with nvidia shield that i jist bought,problem with the external storage and quasar. Using quasar to download into internal storage, everythings fine, but when set path to external storage,cannot download with speeing decrease problem until below 10k, path mist set inside kodi subfolder in android folder (android tv restriction,each app must only can write to own app folder in android folder). So last try,format and merge my external storage into internal storage (android 7.0 feature, format external become adoptable storage). Try quasar, first movie download, successfully, download second movie speed reducing problem appear again, try to delete torrent from quasar,cannot and kodi/quasar hang..then shutdown nvidia shield and restart again, damn kodi cannot open, totally hang, not only kodi cannot open, all the external app i install manually from playslore also hang (es file explorer, vlc player, mx player). Try again factory reset and set external storage to become adoptable storage,same sympton, can download first movie,sexond cannot and corrupt other app as well. Tey again with kodi installed after i merge the external storage,also same problem (try both kodi install first then format external storage OR install kodi first into internal storage and then format and merge external storage)...

Found out on the nvidia forum that the pro version is EOL.
Getting the pro version is risky since the os is installed on the hard drive, if the hard drive fail then it can't be used unless replace the hdd using this method >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/...tv-ssd-t3402580
Also the hard drive will continue spinning/scanning wen device is idle or in 'sleep mode', even the performance is slower compare to 16GB version.
Another issue lately is that after OTA update, it need some time to optimise the system and may cause lags during the process.

anyone manage to install and running RSS player in Nvidia Shield TV 2017. Not found in Playstore but manage to download apk (https://apkpure.com/rss-player/pis.android.rss.rssplayer) and installed it. But not manage to open the app and nvidia shield will mention it stopped working.

I believe rss player is one those apps not allowed on androidtv.

The same is seen with my androidtv tv.

Rss player will work on generic android devices... icdrama works very well on it, incl 1080p streams.

just bought new nvidia shield 16gb ver.1k from shopee..but facing problem with myiptv/huat888 iptv app.after install any version of it apk..it still doesnt show mac address instead it show anti hacker and then pop up link not found.some say mac have been clone.but my thought is app not compatible with it os.android 7..or perhaps it is a new feature from os to hide the mac..anyone have the same situation or any solution to it.can i use the mac add from device hardware information to subscribe to the myiptv hosting anyway??.thanks in advance.

Bought nvidia shield last year for myiptv too. Aparently its not compatible. End up cancelling myiptv and get better one.

as this is more of an androidtv os issue and not generic android os, better i post here.

androidtv os is found in a minority of devices - nvidia shield, mibox int'l, sony 4ktv and sharp 4ktv.
i think there is little discussion on the android for sony 4ktv, but quite a bit for mibox and sharp 4ktv.
they should work the same, face similar issues.

i am using a sharp 4ktv android os, have seen some of these issues, perhaps i can help a bit.

lately, there hv been 2 issues faced by users.

1. possibly due to updated firmware/security patch, some apps couldn't be installed.
the "install" button is washed out, cannot be clicked on for some apps.
however, there is a workaround - use of x-plore app from playstore and using a simple trick, on/off of remote, to resume installation.

2. some apps after installation keep crashing, incl astrogo.
still, mibox users are able to use this 8.1.93 but need mouse; remote will cause crash.

3. U also need to install and set to default the indic keyboard as the leanback keyboard is incompatible; need also to install a rotation lock app to get landscape rather than potrait.

for my tv, i failed to get 8.1.93 to work, from wherever.
the good news is there is one version i got it to work - 8.0.4.2.
try this version, see if it works.

Resolution does switch automatically. It's just the frame rate & colour-space that needs to be switched manually.
Apple TV 4K can't even do audio passthrough, so no point getting that.

Overall, the Shield is still better than any other box except for this problem.

So every box got their own issue.

Anyway I decide get Apple TV 4K box already, hope I can get at shop. Reason I got done movie purchase at iTunes and their movie price is much cheaper, got 4K HDR movie as well, also I still got Mi Box.

ok, i am not using androidtv on shield but on an androidtv tv.

astrogo 8.0.4.2 was the only version that worked on my tv for a long time; other/later versions do not work.

today (or yesterday), 8.0.4.2 also stopped working, likely got phased out by astro support.

the good news is i was able to install the latest 8.1.98 and got it to work.

app is not in playstore; also can't get it to work using normal sideload.

what i did:

install a browser (i use brave), but think chrome or other browser will work too.

search for astrogo apk, find in apkpure or other.

download, open, log in, all good.

i hope that works for shield' androidtv as well.

I think you can get at all Apple / Machines stores. Good choice, since you use itunes. Also, since its still relatively new maybe it will get better in the future and fix audio passthrough and its other kinks.
Personally I would never be caught stuck with anything within Apple's locked-down ecosystem. Case in point: Steamlink app was blocked by Apple at the last minute, so it can't stream PC games.
I hope there are more choices but at the moment we are stuck with many imperfect ones.

it probably means the firmware does not cater to some of the asian iptv apps.

i have a box that could not do astrogo previously but is fine now with a new firmwar which supposedly also caters to similar iptv in vietnam and thailand.

Apple tv is good for streaming apps like netflix hulu etc. as res/colourspace/frame rate switch works well for them (not 100% sure if atmos works with netflix or not, as only pcm works for mrmc)

Hence why i said we need amlogic libreelec for others as in kodi as yes, apple tv isn't a good choice for local playback

So two devices are needed for max media consumption satisfaction...

For now i will stick with shield 2015 and 1080p ecosystem till hdmi 2.1 chain of devices are available

Yup, there are no perfect boxes available and unfortunately this has been the case since the beginning. I was previously using 2 boxes but I am just using the Shield mostly and my Sony Android TV (for Dolby Vision). Just have to see what new boxes come up in the next year.
