Hi,
I am looking for some advise here.
I am not sure which car tint is advisable to go.
I am an Altisan, and since the original glass alredy have UV protection, i am not sure should i go for a high end tint film or just got for a normal one will do.

From what i know is VKool, Huper Optic, RayTech, 3M, Solar Gard and Eco Tint.

Any recomendation? Considering price and the performance.

Thanks for all your replies ya! biggrin.gif

3M crystalline is good, so is the price
vkool (do note, it's k for kool, not c) is good, so if the price too, and there are some case of oxidization after the warranty ended
rike cool is good too, price price still high for the better grade ones

if u want to use ecotint, give zth.com a visit and pm a guy called amuroray. he might be able to arrange cheaper price.

using air cool. got many branches, 1 i puchong 1 in ipoh all over also got.
I tinted my whole car for about RM800. This is inclusive of front windscreen.

My daughter's accord i tinted for RM700. Also the same place. They had one in sunway mas but closed down and shifted somewhere.

Last i asked a kenari/kancil/kembara is only RM550. Reasonable with quality ensured. Highly recommend that place. Cause when i went to brothers they gave me chapmak tint and charge me about the same price. Crazy. They see car to produce the pricing. Just because u drive a luxury car doesnt mean u need to pay more.

Highly recommend air cool.

I have seen many Ah beng cars out there with cheap tinting. Looked good when it's new but slowly, seemed like some glue-like, blurry liquid has formed between the tinting film and the windscreen. And it's not one small spot but covered the entire sheet. That's very fugly and made the car looked cheap. For that reason I'd rather spend more on reputable brands.

i've been using V-Kool for 3 years on 2 cars.. each of then also V-Kool Elite the top tinting film... 2k each.. but both also no USE one.. coz everytime i put my car under the hot sun it still the same.. like no blocking of sun

BUT i've change using wingard
the warranty is 10years & the price for my car is 2k (mazda6) 2000cc
heard from the guy saying tat the film is 3 times normal tintin thickness which i confirm it YES !! tested it oledi..
it also can avoid ppl breaking glass.. it can withstand helmet, baseball bat ,large wood... & sharp spike.. but after sum attempt on the sharp spike the glass got a hole but the spike did not come out easilly need to use leg support to pull it out..
(btw i'm not wingard salesman..)
btw regarding the sun light it blocks alot.. but the choice is urs.. u can go check it out... @ pandan indah.. if u stay tat near...

i'm vkool elite user, rm1400 for honda city

my opinion is :-

= too expensive tint

= good heat rejection

= high % of light passing thru ( which is good coz JPJ sure approve, but some ppl might like it to be darker for privacy or better vision during bright day light )

but lets think again, why would u pay so much for good heat rejection ?

it doesnt really make much diff when u're driving with aircon

if u park your car under the sun, no tint in this world can keep your car cool. it will still get heat up anyway....

bottom line is :-
if u got tonnes of money, u may go for vkool
but never go for el-cheapo rm300 tint.

I just went to ask for Air Cool yesterday.
Salesman saying that Air Cool Highest Grade will cost me RM1.4K...(Is it expensive?)

Its from accessories shop....dunno how much i can trust.
I am thinking of tinting my side windows mirror with 3M, then both big glass (front and rear) tint with Air Cool / Someother brands.

Just go to Tint Shop and ask them which is better suited for u and yr budget. I got my new car tinted for RM300 (with coupon) n its sufficient for me. My kelisa n kancil did its tinting at aircool and price range from RM250 (with coupon) to RM500 (with coupon too lol).

So now all my cars have tint n IMHO, Tint Shop's choice is good. They are the ones who do v kool as the honda and perodua dealers send their cars in there for tinting before sending it to their customers. There's one Tint Shop branch in Taipan and if u opt for aircool its located in pandar puteri puchong.

Are u going to the branch? Can u help me to ask for the price for Altis?
I wanna compare the price here. I am from Penang.

By the way, i just found that actually Toyota Altis got sort of features named "Heat-Absorbing Glass with UV-Cut." (Refer to www.toyota.com.my)
Therefore i think i no need to tint for those highend tint, since it is a double protection already.

Air Cool is around RM700 and Solar Gard is around RM750.
Now i am in a dilemma, which one should i choose.
But Solar Gard looks more quality.

Used vkool on 2 cars but with different results.

First one got tinted for RM1500 at M1 damansara for my e36 bmw 328 five years ago. Wasted my money. Yes, light can go through but it didn't seem to prevent nor dissipate heat quickly enough. When parked under hot sun for 30 minutes, need at least 8-10 minutes of full blast aircon to bring heat under control.

Then bought a e46 325, with vkool - negotiated with salesman from AB segambut - for RM1000 nia. Much much better.

Felt cheated by M1. Gave me fakes one? But I do have a cert for JPJ check wor.

As i see in this tread, most of the tint cost around 500-1.2k.
I just wonder, that i had seen in some shops, they put like RM200 for tint. Are they talking about not branded tint or only tint certain parts of the car?
2nd question, i seen some say, they got cheaper by using coupons, where and how to get those coupons?
Pls advice, and thanx.

How come no one mention nViro? I compared it with RikeCool and it seems they are slightly better. Better still, they offer lifetime warranty. More info can be seen from here. www.nviro.com.my
By the way, they quoted me RM1,900 for my Honda Civic. I'm still not sure whether to go to them or not?

There's 3 major types of tint; the cheapo type (200 bucks whole car one) is usually just coloured plastic, the 500-1000 one is the midrange one, which will last ~5yrs before deteriorating; and the last one the advanced/high end one which can last 10 yrs (usually the top product).

Sorry for screwing the atmosphere... Does anyone know any of tint brand which offer in cheap price?

Cant afford like those VKool..Im driving a sedan and thinking of budget less than RM500 for whole car tint.

Planning to get dark color and feature of "sun shine & heat rejection"
I know there is alot "cheap-lak" in market and yet cheap...

Well I just wanted to ask some opinion and suggestion.

hi guys...

just wondering on the quality of RAYTECH tints... are they actually any good? been searching the forum but can't seem to get any updated opinions on raytech...

there's one with 90% IRR... the brochure states RM1500, but my SA is giving it to me at RM1200... and a RM150 voucher... which brings it down to RM1050. I'm willing to spend money on good tinting... but is raytech really any worth it? does it really work?

(budget: rm1.2k-rm1.4k)

after lots of thinking... i'm not planning to get v-kool. doesn't sound worth it. might as well get other brands with better specs for the same price biggrin.gif

how's raytech vs ecotint vs v-kool vs aircool?

are 3M tints very expensive?

raytech..it sounds like a another version of raybarrier from ecotint. since you are already paying 1k, my advise is go for reputable brand instead, you can try ecotint or rikecool or even huper optiks

don't think it will break. but usually... if there are fireman... they would have an axe that can break it, right?

lonewolf: yeah... that's true. might as well get better brands, right?

thanks.

i looked at 3M today... wonder if it's very good?

I'm using 3M crystalline too...great tint - rejects heat quite well and keeps the car cool but problem is it's not dark enough sleep.gif

I heard from the tint shop that the latest film from huper optik is the best one. But dont really understand what he means by 'best'.

I have V-kool on two cars, Rike Cool on the 3rd. Honestly speaking I think Rike Cool is a piece of crap, the heat rejection is not as good as V-kool and I didn't really save a whole lot of money going for it. Even on a black car on a hot day, V-kool is better. I don't mind sticking my remote close to the sunroof for the heat rejection V-kool provides.

I'd like to try 3M but I really don't know if I want to gamble with another RM2k biggrin.gif

I install my Swift with

- Llumar 8mil side screen
- Llumar 4mil rear screen
- Vkool Elite front screen

for total RM1650. Vkool Elite front screen cost me RM700.

I installed the above films package at ENEOS 1 Utama.

My advice to those not yet install films on your car. I strongly recommend you all go for security films. Due to increase crime on breaking in car getting higher each year, for your own safety purpose & also preventing your car being stolen.

In an accident, a window broke into pieces will usually harm you more than an intact one.

If you really involve in car accident untill the door can't open. Thats mean the impact must be very strong. I am sure most of the windows already break. With security films the windows still intact & will not break into pieces that could harm you.

ENEOS 1 utama? where is it exactly? inside the parking? new / old wing?

i've tried searching around, looks like a car servicing centre, do they provide tinting as well? are they a reseller of many different brands of film?

I noticed that some tinting film when applied onto the windscreen, it has a 'Blurry Effect'. It seems like there's a layer of uneven plastic sticked onto the windscreen and it makes driving unpleasureable.

My question is, does quality tinting films have such problems? Is it due to poor workmanship?

there is no best tint in the market, every brand has their pro and cons. All depends how deep your pocket is. Yeah, you must heard the vcool is good and so on. IMHO, they are good and overpriced and do have their own cons as well.

Sorry for jacking the tread.

I'm still new to the automobile "industry"; so consider noob blush.gif ..

Place booking on the new BLM (first car I buy on my own salary flex.gif ), and thinking of getting some tinting..

I always park on open car park (office and apartment cry.gif ), and hoping to get some recommendations, since I have at least 2 month to budget tongue.gif

Hoping to get something below $500, but can push to about $1000 max.

Reading here results in more headache blush.gif (too much information overload...)

Any recommendations for my scenario? icon_question.gif

No matter how good the tinted we install, after few years the tinted will become like this?

Attached Image

How come the tinted can until RM2k++ sweat.gif sweat.gif Is the tinted expensive or installement fees expensive?
I rather take 2k for other accesorries like sport rim or stereo system icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Good one can last how long?
Or we take cheap one below RM200, then spoil change again.... hmm.gif

Hoping to get something below $500, but can push to about $1000 max.

Reading here results in more headache  blush.gif (too much information overload...)

Any recommendations for my scenario?  icon_question.gif
Thanks

With ur budget try Ray Barier

How come the tinted can until RM2k++ sweat.gif  sweat.gif  Is the tinted expensive or installement fees expensive?
I rather take 2k for other accesorries like sport rim or stereo system  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Good one can last how long?
Or we take cheap one below RM200, then spoil change again.... hmm.gif

That is becoz ur using low grade tinted.2k tint have 5 year warranty at least, so if the tint is fading, just go claim it bck

Tint Shop Ampang did V-kool on mine.

All around for about 2.2k

Doesn't peel or have bubbles. In fact, it seem likes the glass rather than a tint.

Which place of Seri Kembangan that you get your car tinted? I'm also staying around SK and thinking to tint my car next month. How about the quality of the tint and the heat rejection?

I think the workmanship problem, good tint wouldnt have this type of problem, becos through my experience of 8years tint of v kool elite still fine and funtioning well on my humble car.

Hey guys, I just had my Vios tinted with Ecotint Ray Barrier. Would like to know from you guys, is it normal to have some marking on the windscreen (interior)? Or is it suppose to be smooth unnoticeable that the tint film was installed?

if you decided your gonna apply tint i recommend you put one which really blocks out the heat and not just as a mere aesthetic item. they might cost a pretty penny (especially if your talking large window area like an suv s ) but its worth it in the end with our increasing temperature in malaysia.

if it actually effects the colours of the light ie red doest look red any more then its definitely illegal. but if your gonna do it ,try to keep the tinting light ,make it dark and it will actually be hazardous to you when your driving in heavy rain or at night and people can see your tail lights early enough smile.gif

i'm considering these 3 tints:
- vkool 70/elite. $1.8k. VLT is 73%. IR Rejection 94%
- aircool deluxe. $1.4k. VLT is 80%. IR Rejection 9X%
- aircool supreme. $1k. VLT is 76%. IR Rejection 8X%

I don't consider other tints because my untinted windscreens are already darker than normal cars. Here's the Puspakom reading for my untinted car: F-85%, R-74%,S-65%.

Need to find a film that after being applied will still meet JPJ requirements. JPJ requires VLT of 70% for the windscreen and 50% for the rest Not sure what is the mathematical formula to determine the VLT of the film that can be used. If the formula is VLT(original)*VLT(film)=70% with the VLT(original) being 85%, then the VLT(film)=>82%.

Hence I'm limited in my choices smile.gif The Aircool deluxe has higher VLT, cheaper and longer warranty. The Vcool is more expensive, Smarttag might be an issue, and 5 years warranty. But I've heard people quoting JPJ officer, "If Vkool Elite/V70, sure won't kena"

Your thoughts?

Thanks.

The Honda Showroom that I went to said that got promotion for ecotint.

They say that 30% or 20% (forgot which) will be supported by them.

Does this mean Honda recommends eco tint?

actually air cool deluxe package for front is 70% VLT and others is 60% VLT. You can choose higher VLT for front but price is not the same. I dont like V-KOOL much. Regarding supreme dono much about it. Cause i target the most IRR rejection. I think it's just a waste if use IRR below 90%.

because VLT for front needs to be at least 70%. Go survey and find out how many tints got VLT higher than 70%. Not many. Plus some cars already come with darkened glasses

Even if its water, it will only turn into water vapour. If there is no way for the vapour to go out, eventually it will turn back into water. Unless the film will absorb water to make it stick to the glass, I would say better get rid of the bubbles. I'm no expert though.

i vote for Air cool...i'm using rite know Air cool millennium...got tint for rm 600.00 the lowest light can past through..50% transparency and you can't see me clearly for most the time, 99% UV and 82% RUV..the only matter is the workmanship not very good coz they promise to finish tint in 1 hour.

and the most important thing when you tinted insist summon warranty..Air cool warranty that i won't be summoned by jpj(i need to show the warranty card to the officer) if the officer insist to summons...Air cool will pay the summon.

hi everyone,

im newbie here. actually im also looking for tinting for my new sedan car. Before this i've did some research on few brands & their pricing. so i wish to share with you.

1) v-kool elite - rm1700 (5 yrs warranty)
VLT - 73.2%, UVR - 99%, IRR - 94%

one of the best tint & long enough in market but heard people complaint it will get rusty after few yrs. some said got problem with smart-tag but again some said no problem. unsure.gif

2) ecotint ray barrier - rm1530 (10 yrs warranty)
VLT - 63%, UVR - 99%, IRR - 95%

just one question on ecotint ray barrier, the visible light transmittance (VLT) is 63% whereby JPJ requirement is 70% on the front screen. so how they claim they comply with JPJ requirement? if anyone know, pls help to clarify. unsure.gif

3) rike-cool (RC 80/RC 63) - rm1400 (6 yrs warranty)
RC80 - VLT - 80.7%, UVR - 99.6%, IRR - 83.2% for front screen
RC63 - VLT - 65.3%, UVR - 99.6%, IRR - 92.3% for side/ back

this brand i seriously consider bcoz its claim smart-tag friendly and moreover the warranty can be transferable to other name. but its not so popular if compare with v-kool or ecotint. unsure.gif

VLT - visible light transmittance, UVR - ultra violet rejection, IRR - infra red rejection

for all the price i got is actually after discount.

any advise which one more value for money?

good day. thx. smile.gif

I read this entire thread and couldn't find anyone reply to someone who asked for comments on S-Cool. I've just got my myvi and got a $150 voucher for S-Cool tinting on its Taman Connaught shop only. Can anyone please tell me your experience on S-Cool? I'm considering S-Cool, or Air Cool or VKOOL...of course, i wish to save money, it's only a myvi lah.

Thank you thank you!!

Most tinted brand has a different film for front windscreen as it requires 70% VLT while the other is just 50% VLT.

air cool got heavy ads recently. And some say rike cool is a more established local tinting company than air cool. Is this true? for their high end film, the price is close, isn't it?

Do you think choosing rike cool is a wiser choice if not the reputable vkool? for similar standard film, can i say vkool is about $500 more expensive than rike cool or air cool?

choose with vlt more than 70% for front window and more than 50% for other window. If choose the value same as stated, maybe the dust on the window will make it darker and u will get saman.

my sales advisor ask me to tint my car
he's offering me v-kool 63 for RM 1300
he said that normally v-kool 63 cost around RM 1700

but i have refund for my trade-in car = RM 583
so RM 1300 - 583 = RM 717.00

it is worth to pay for this v-kool 36?

gingerwinker,

my Honda agent also said its RM1700 for v-kool 63 and he gave RM300 discount which makes it RM1400...
but then v-kool elite is only another RM300 away, after discount is RM1700, so i went for elite

i have tinted the Glass Proof on my City , rear , side and even front glass.
Here is my question. Is it safe to tint front glass. I wonder can the firemen break this glass proof tint when rescue .

alot of people like me lack knowledge, the dealers seems to tell us its ok.

any users?

Added on May 28, 2008, 8:23 ami'm going to buy new toyota vios
my sales advisor ask me to tint my car
he's offering me v-kool 63 for RM 1300
he said that normally v-kool 63 cost around RM 1700

but i have refund for my trade-in car = RM 583
so RM 1300 - 583 = RM 717.00

it is worth to pay for this v-kool 36?
*
I'm using kristalbond for my Saga. Last time got promo, less than RM1000 for whole car. 4 yrs oledi, still looking gd.

Is it true that every tinting film will degrade years by years? Means that if i think vkool elite say, (VLT=73.2% UVR=98% IRR=94%) it will drop every year bout 10-20%? In the end, after 5 years or more, the reading will go very low. This is wat SA told me..

I used VPS's Security Film tinted before comes with 8 years warranty furthermore it's security film so can stand harmful "blow" to the windows.. or you may try Llumar's security film but the price is more than RM1000.

I just tinted my new car last week with brand TintMaster, why this brand is not mention here?, is this brand not good enough, but pricey also, cost me 700 bucks.

How many percent tinted is allowed by JPJ ?, mine if not mistaken is 68%, not very dark, still can see whom the person inside the car. According to that tinted shop, mine is JPJ compliant,

But according to JPJ here

actually guys...just put a tinting that the color is not too dark..meaning does not looks any different from a normal glass or tinted wan..not too obvious..then avoid putting those tinted company sticker like "V-Kool" or "Air Cool" or "Wingard" at your rear screen...then even JPJ stop u..if won't be so obvious....any brand will do...i dun think they are going to check on your light penetration if your glass looks not much difference as compare to the untinted glass...

just my 2 cents...correct me if anyone of you kena before from JPJ even your glass is so brightly tinted....

If you're goin for the ultimate, I'd to say it's Infratec all round. Have used a lot of other brands & it's much cheaper than the best V-Cool & specs also tapau V-Cool. Specs are 99% UV, 95% or 97% IR & 72% VLT.

It's worth a RM1500 for 4 side windows with solar and security film and the front & back window is solar film? 7 year warranty, and 99% UV. IF got problem within 7 year, can go back to the shop and do it again with FOC. If kena saman can also give the saman to the shop to pay. That the offer i get from the sales guy. The shop/brand is tint master..

IIANM, gold dust is a type of Vkool. It's slightly reflective and golden colour. Cheaper, reduction not as good as Vkool Elite package. Harder for people to see inside your car. Also may have more problems with JPJ...

Wow some people can afford 1.5K on tint alone.. zzzz wish i am that wealthy. If i have that kinda money i would install a reliable but not over priced tint like midrange rikecool or aircool. Those are good enough. The rest maybe better invested on security films or just give to the poor. Good karma always come back.

I'm thinking to tint my Iswara with a 3M tint and according to the shop owner, it allows 70% light to pass through, which I understand is the borderline limit set by JPJ. Just curious, do I need to report to my insurance company that I have tinted window? Scared in the case of unfortunate events(touch wood) they will refuse to compensate my car because the car is 'not standard'. You know how nasty those insurance agents get when it comes to claims.

Thx

i use aircool tint for my car. it's already 3years and faded..(rm250). since my warranty written it's cover for faded, so i came back n asked for replacement. unfortunately, they won't accept my claim because they said "only for uneven faded is covered". the warranty certificate didn't mention anything about it. mad.gif

the conclusion is aircool is not transparent to their customer. shakehead.gif

just see a letter from JPJ that now the rule is front & real winscreen >65% , side screen >55%.

when u choose tint film, pls also conside yr original screen %, bcoz after tinting, the screen % will be more lower a bit.

Would go for Infratec anytime, worth the $$ & spec performance compared to V-Cool. Feels like the whole car interior is within a Ray Ban Aviator on those super hot days. Air-Cond also very cold after that, specs if I'm not mistaken are; UV99%, IR93 or 94% & VLT73%. Furthermore the sole importer/distributor does the installation themself providing product/installer warranty incl certificate to show police. Confim they will pay saman if kena tangkap. I've seen them removing & re-installing to some cars even with tiny spec bubble.

Owh my dad just recently purchased his BLM and he got a free tinting as well. For the quality, well I wouldn't say it's that awesome, but does it's job a lil(probably on par with those RM300-400 tint). It's better than nothing if you don't intend to tint your car for a foreseeable future.

Just got a metallic silver Vios.

Planning to tint it, but with so many brands going about these days... *sigh*

So i guess it's best to seek some feedback here.

1. Is there really a superior brand that makes all the difference in terms of quality?

2. How and where can we really verify that it's JPJ compliant? ( My friend's have been stopped time and again for a supposedly JPJ-compliant-tint)

3. Best value for money recommendation for a budget of..erm...RM800?

Thanks in advanced. smile.gif

BTW, anyone can commnet on the Coolworld KIP Kepong branch workmanship?

googled and found a blogger talking about him just aircool'ed his car...

Attached Image

as i attached is a pix taken out from his blog (credits to him) and the bottom one, aircool universal with VLT 52%... will that be illegal? they claimed that it's legal and will setlle the saman for me if i've been saman for tinting... i just dont want to get into trouble of all that... just dont want to be stop that is...

legally, is VLT 52% in the approved specs?

If you really do a test after installation the above tint, tint's VLT including your existing glass will will definately go beyond the legal limits,

Im getting a Naza Citra GLS that comes together with its own proprietary tint. I don't have much choice, though I don't think its any better compared to the better grades. Does anyone has any comments on Naza own tint? In any case, I might still consider placing a better tint if this one doesnt work very well for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong; you should be getting those about 70/70 IR/VLT types. nod.gif

all expert in tint master, please clear my doubt for below picture:

please view the (Infrared Heat Rejected [IRR] = 69%) & (Total Infrared Heat Rejected [TSER] = 93%)

From the "Ray Tech shop" at seri kembangan, she told me that in the tint market impossible to have higher than 70% for TSER, all below 70%.

For the K600 or tint brand name called titanium, it is possible the K600 have TSER = 93%? which one higher is better (IRR or TSER) or both?

hi,

seeking your advise,

my SA quoted me RM2,200.00 for 3M tint for the whole car (its pug 407). With him giving RM500.00 voucher, the total price going to be RM1,700.00. But reading this forum, i read a lot of people only charged around 1.6k. If the price is around that, then my so called voucher is not a voucher as the price already jacked up.

I'm collecting my car soon, if this is true, i want to screw him and get the real voucher instead. Or if possible, you can leave the branch for 3M specialize shop number so that i can contact by myself. Can't find it on 3m.com.my.

thanks in advance

as far as I am aware, TSER stands for TOTAL SOLAR ENERGY REJECTED (TSER) so I am quite sure what is stated is not the TSER rating. It would seem that total infrared heat rejected is something different altogether. Anyway i think TSER rating is still the best way to see how good the tint is. In fact many are not aware that this is the best measurement of a tint. Mostly believe that IRR is the measurement method... sweat.gif

Btw, what is the TSER% for Ray Tech? Need to go tint another car and have to look at the new options again..

Recommended to get a tint of VLT at least 5% above whatever the law enforce as you have to also consider some VLT values for the actual 'clear' glass too.

hey, those of you have budget of rm600-rm700, i just tinted my whole car with air cool ultra for 4 windows + rear screen, and aircool-premium for windscreen, silvery grey, the workmanship is superb, tint 85% IR rejected @ RM620 only @ puchong branch, promotion only for this month, normal price is rm900+ for whole car, go check it out guys. no regret, tint quality is reasonably goood for this price range.

I tinted aircool in puchong branch..service is good, sales friendly and nice workmanship.

However the quality of Aircool.......i am not satisfied at all, i tinted my whole car with their most high end range. Front windscreen with aircool monotex plus side&back with aircool Duroguard SE60 (security film included), that cost me around RM 1600 whole car, however when i park my car outside during lunch time around half an hour then willl feel the car extremely hot.

The quality is really really bad even cant compare to my previous car tinted with those film that only cost RM 400. I pick Aircool previously because of good explanation from the sales and they confirmed that the tinted film very good, wont feel hot at all.....most high end range ....blar blar blar ..etc, but now i have it and i can say that the aircool film performance is bad not much different with no tint.

I really feel disappointed tinted with aircool. Moreover i am using is their most high end range but still feel hot after parking outside without roof for only half an hour.......

I am now thinking of changing to other tint film but 1.6K wasted... if tinted second layer scare kena JPJ and extra cost needed for 2nd layer. Some more my car fully leather seat, my ass will also feel hot like kena bbq !!

i also dont know what to do now icon_question.gif even my colleague and friends keep on asking me " do u tinted ur window ? why so hot your car......."

I really disappointed and frustrated now picked the wrong tinted film. If it only cost me around RM700-800 is still ok for me to forgot about it and change to other brand, but this cost me around 1.6K is almost same price with V-Kool or Ecotint but performance cant even compare with those ah beng tinted.... cry.gif

My advice is dont go for air cool....if your budget allow, go for better brand.

I am good example ....

the higher TSER is the better for tint.If cant get the value, look for the highest IRR rate. Those with high IRR rate give higher TSER

Guys, sorry I dun have time to read the whole thread but I would appreciate very much some your opinions or suggestions on which to take:

Raytech Armor or Raytech V90? http://www.raytech.com.my/range.html

Of the 2 models above, which is better?

1. Won't run into JPJ hassle.
2. Deflect heat better, cooler inside.
3. Last longer, more durable, no air bubbles.
4. Stratch resistant.

Users please share your experience. Thanks guys. notworthy.gif

I am currently using V-Kool. I must say, I am impressed with it. The temperature inside my car cool pretty quick and I have parked my car under direct sun light multiple times. Though the inside can be stuffy but still bearable. Imagine those without any tinting on their windows. You will felt as if you're being roasted alive after your car have been parked under the blazing sun. I spent around RM1,700 for my Peugeot 407.

For pricing, see here (last few pages): http://www.raytech.com.my/raytechbroucher.pdf

So far I cannot find any complaints on Raytech using Google and here in LYN. So I'll be going ahead with Raytech Armor next week. If anyone has any complaints re Raytech, please share them now. Thanks.

Hi guyz...I'm going to get my new car tinted soon. I've been using Solargard ever since, it's great but wanna try security film this time round. I'm down to two finalists, Llumar and 3M. What do you guyz think? which one is better?
Do let me know your experience with your tint and price. Thank you very much. smile.gif

After reading few posts here, never see anyone mention a shop that actually does light metering measurment.

All car windows come with certain light blocking. And if added with tinting, it'd could be more than JPJ allowance.

And there's no such thing as brand endorsed by JPJ. All brands are ok, as long as measured light is 70% (front) and 50% (sides)

frankly speaking i never like those offers that not only Proton but also other car dealer offer tinted glass....

because the salesman will get commision from accessories shops & those shops will give low quality or overpriced tint.

i would rather reject the tinted offer & get a better price for the car. thats what i did with my Satria Neo.

Lstar807 for your case, since there is a waranty you must go back there.... must! must! wink.gif

my question is why waste? since u have a warranty, juz use it la. dont get angry unless if they refuse to change it for u. better u dont get angry la, go complain wherever u can cuz u stil have the warranty.

or u can do like what i did but dunno whether that shop there will do it for u anot. my tint was juz a few months old but poor workmanship as there were bubbles at the edges. so i went back to the shop n asked how? he said he will do it again after arguing with me. i told him i dont want him to do it, so he gave me back my money n peeled everything off. in the end, i did it at a cheaper price elsewhere with better workmanship. if u guys r from seremban, dont go to JUN AUTO ACCESSORY cuz thats where i did my tinting initially. purely sick bunch of ppl with the boss's wife forever with her whore-like face n i alwiz regretted wasting my time there.

u go to any shop or even the one that u previously did ur tinting will surely peel the old one n put a new one.

juz wat i know... correct me if i m wrong.

aiyoh..i noe got warranty but still...in the first place my cousin drive me there coz i dunno the direction. we waited for so long only come my turn n end up we was there more than 4hrs.

by the way, if they peel it off...then i guess it should be no problem to go other place where they give better workmanship

think this thread is kinda dead..anyway, I'm using Ecotint and i'm very pleased with it.. just got it a month ago with one of the forum member here.. the service given is superb.. and the sales assistants are pretty too.. smile.gif

Ecotint compare to my previous Air-Cool, Ecotint hands down..but off course the Ecotint that I installed in my new car cost lots more with my Air-Cool..so can't really compare..haha..

if my understand is correct, security film is good for security purpose, and not good in blocking heat..so lots of people combine both together..

Just want to share my latest experience. Gone to Coolworld to claim my warranty. End up i did the whole car again coz saw there is 50% discount for their higher range film.
First appointment b4 CNY cancelled coz too many booking although i had done my booking b4.
2nd appointment after CNY (last sat), some bugger didnt wrote down my booking so end up waste time there but after consultation, decided to retint the whole car.
3rd appointment do my tinting last sunday.
4th appointment - retint my passenger window coz it start bubbling.
Hopefully no more problem after this.

jst tinted my new honda accord with huper optic ceramic which cost me RM1600 sad.gif how to check whether the tint is actually the tint that i requested after they install it on my car ar? coz i left my car at the tinted shop and go for hair cut and come bck tat time they aready install half way d..i scare i kena cheated sad.gif
*
Echoing to this the quoted statement above...i am also interested to know how to check whether they are using the right requested tint in case i am not standing there observing for 2-3 hours?

Secondly, assuming 2 brands with the same specs (VLT%, UV%, IR%), what other considerations to be taken into? In specific, i am considering Air Cool & Ecotint.

And is Air Cool tint from ceramic material?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

My dad's old merc have vkool golddust done for RM700, mom's kelisa use huper optik for RM1k.
Golddust less visibility from outside but UV not so good. Huper just make the glass a light sea green color but supposed to block 90% UV or sth like that.
I prefer tint that can give a bit of privacy. Even if kena JPJ also no worries if using approved products with cert.

You're asking whether anyone only tinted the front screen? As far as I'm concern, if you do tinting, it comes in a whole set which include the front screen, side doors and rear screen as well.

I tinted my car twice with coolworld. First at sri damansara, 2nd at Damansara utama. Both oso quite disappointed.
1st coz it is abt rm500.00 low range... within a year appear bubbles for rear window. vmad.gif mad.gif
2nd higher range rm1400 wif discount 50% + claim warranty. Have to go 2nd time to retint the passenger window. vmad.gif
I notice both of the workmanship not that good. Coz both oso appeared tiny bubbles... with dirt trap in it. rclxub.gif sweat.gif
But so far it is too early to comment on the 2nd job coz it only 3months. But one thing for sure, my rear window got watermark coz they didnt clean it properly when tear out the 1st film before retint.
However, i would like to give the shop owner (DU), mr wong some credit coz he is professional in handling my complaint... biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing Lstar807 smile.gif I am planning to take the one which is about RM500 too, cos can get RM150 discount. The heat resistance is also quite high if I remember correctly.. about 80%?
I'm planning to go to Cool World in Sri Petaling branch. But after hearing your experience, I am having secong thoughts smile.gif

Can't afford V-Kool, cos it's too expensive, though I have heard many good feedbacks.

Megaton, as for workmanship...see ur luck lor tongue.gif
but the reason they gave for the bubbling is it is low range product. That's y got this problem. If higher range, u wont encounter this problem. The heat rejection i'm not sure how much but i remember, it doesnt go up to 80%. If not mistaken is abt 60%++.
Thus, i can feel the difference for the 2nd tint...car is more cooler compare to previous tint... btw, car black colour, damn hot wor shakehead.gif

Wa.. RM 500+ also consider low range ah? smile.gif For me, it's quite pricy already.
But do you actually feel any difference when you tint your car with the lower range tint? smile.gif
Or you can still feel very hot inside the car?

If really not much difference, I don't think I wanna waste RM 500 to tint my MyVi lo..

Any good tint shops that have variety of brand to be chosen? As I am still uncertain as to what brand should i go for. Good if i could get advise from them directly. Preferrably areas in Seri Kembangan / OKR.

Thanks.

i think besides choosing brand.. you need to go to reputable shops that have good workmanship. i went to a shop in bandar puteri, well price is reasonable the heat rejection is good, but the workmanship is terrible.. 3days after tinting my windows already have bubbles (i did not wind down the window or did anything to the tints.. ive parked my car and did not use it for 3 days) im going back for warranty hope nothing bad.

currently im using V-kool Elite, sure got pros and cons
pros: really wont feel so hot when you park your car at direct sunlight and it release the heat very fast especially if your car have leather seat so you wont feel your ass kena bbq, 99% can block the UV

cons: smart tag issue, everytime i want to pass the toll i need to press 1 button at smart tag if not 80% cant detect, i guess the signal not strong enough to pass the tinted and if you are wearing those sunglass that detect how strong is the UV and become how dark is it, than you will have problem with it because it really block the UV

Guys, today my V-Kool gets tear down by PUSPAKOM during car inspection. The person in charge said "YA JPJ APPROVED, TAPI PUSPAKOM TAKDE APPROVED!"

Luckily, i use for front screen only, but still RM500 gone for the tint. Becareful guys. Best if we can get PUSPAKOM pass for the tint, else will be like me.

They tear for me. Basic V-Kool, used for like 3 yrs already. Not sure which VKool liao, but it served me good 3 yrs. Just felt PUSPAKOM didn't take seriously in explaining to us. Hate when they said JPJ approved in VKool brand but not PUSPAKOM.

Hmm, i actually didnt bother becoz the car was meant to be sold to other party, that's why need PUSPAKOM inspection. Can't deny V-Kool is very nice to use. Worth every penny. Anyway, i found the authorized dealers for V-KOOL. If you bought V-KOOL not from this list, then you should becareful already. Best if you go find pipupipu main VKOOL dealer in garage sales. Please check the attachment, found from web.

They just want some $$ from you. Last time my old car also same thing happened. I wasn't there, my mum sent my car in for me (selling my car, which had VKool installed). They said some BS about it being "not approved" (Total BS, since VKool is JPJ approved; Puspakom is not an enforcement agency!). Then they asked my mum for some "duit kopi" to approve it. My mum refused to pay. And they tore it out. I would have yelled and screamed at them once I found out, but since the car was being sold, and the new owner was indifferent to any tinting, I just let it go.

They're just a bunch of corrupted idiots using any little excuse to oppress ordinary road users like you and me; enriching themselves at our expense! vmad.gif

I can explain on your Duraguard SE60.. I nearly get this tint for my Rondo.. Was doing a survey last week
1.) Went to air cool shop & the SA recommended their highest grade security file Duraguard SE60 (5 mil) with IR heat rejection of 95%. And the medium grade Monotex with 88% IR heat rejection.. I took both the sample from them

2.) Went to (V-kool dealer),tested both sample film on their 3M digital tester..OMG, the so call Duraguard SE60 claims of 95% IR heat rejection.. Is totally out ! The 3M digital reader shown only 65% heat rejection.. And Innotex which claim that reject 88% is actaully only at 50% !! We test V-kool, Rike Cool and some range of the product with the same 3M digital reader.. Shows very impressive result !!

So, now u understand why your car is hot like Owen when park outside !! Actually i did sign up for this package with them during a air cool exhibition with RM10 deposit.. Now i have to burn out this deposit.. Luckly....

P/S: the air cool monotex paper, when we shine on a bulb tester.. Can u imagine, it melt off??? The paper just got sign of burning with smoke and the film just crumpled.. Now only i know Air Cool quality...

QUOTE(eeor83 @ Oct 14 2008, 03:13 AM)

I went for the Ray Barrier at the USJ 9 Taipan Ecotint Shoppe last Friday (26th June), the Sales Assistant, Ms. June is chatty, helpful and her level of personal service is amazing. I am very happy with the results of the tinting.

(4) Ecotint Raybarrier (all windows) - RM1500 (Ecotint shop) - 10 years warranty
- good specs, good price.
- if you want the 4 mil security film, it's additional RM100 per window (4 windows so it's RM400), they will stick it first, then the ray barrier film goes on.

first, there was a pre-check to determine if there's any problems with your car before they do the job. And when the job is being done, there's a viewing gallery of them working on the car. You can sit there and view all the sifus at work. At the end, they drove my car out front and didn't let me leave yet, 10 minutes to let the film settle in and Ms. June helped me to check around again for bubbles. Her trained eye was a lot better than mine and picked up some loose film, some bubbles and immediate told her guys to rework it on the spot. notworthy.gif Total installation time ~ 3 hours.

After installation don't on your demister, don't roll down your windows for 60 hours and also don't clean the interior of your car window for 60 hours also.

The installation went without a hitch, though at the end there were some bubbles when my car was pronounced finished but they assured me after baking in the sun for about 3 days, the bubbles would go away. Sure enough they did. thumbup.gif

I'd recommend everyone here to go for Ecotint's Ray Barrier, because of the extended warranty, no nonsense service and did I mention the heat shielding is amazing? I drive around at noon time with aircon at level 1 fan set at the lowest cool setting. How amazing is that? The price is right, the product is good, what more can you ask? Oh can pay with Credit Card too, haha!

Best of all...! I was lucky enough to be served by Mr. Tan the boss of Ecotint as well, he saw me waiting and then asked me if I wanted something to drink, he immediately sold me on some air limau kasturi from the restaurant opposite and brought the drink to me, he said it's on him. I was blown away... a bit later as I didn't know he was the top guy at Ecotint. rclxms.gif

so do give them a call,

Ecotint Shoppe
38-1, Jalan USJ 9/5Q, UEP Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya Selangor 47620 Malaysia
Tel : 03-8023-1612
ask for Ms. June

If you want a more relaxed environment ASTRO etc while you wait, you can go to their other branch in Sri Hartamas. Well, if you don't know what tinting will do for your car, take the demo... you'll be impressed!

hi i saw this in ecotint website.

"Each ATO particle in RayBarrier is only 10nm* in length. Its diameter is two to three hundredth the wavelength of visible light, making the film virtually colourless and extremely transparent."

my question is actually..what colour is raybarrier ?..i actually prefer more darker colours...

what is your car for the price 1500 for ray barrier? is this price for walk in customer or special arrangement with car sales advisor & Ecotint?

Never heard b4, no offense jz sharing my point of view on the freebie promotion, but assume that RM380 already calculated in RM1.2k. Means your tint only worth RM 820... hehe so u can imagine how good is the quality. Some more 95% i dont think so lor...

Top up some $$$ and go for recommendation by sifus here, should b ok. EcoTint having promotion.

Just for sharing only, as i m surveying for my new car coming next week. No commission from ecotint.... biggrin.gif

ya, i also feel the film bcome low quality after deducted the brakelock price.

but i saw from other forum that price Rm1000 for whole car tinted, Rm100 cost of film, Rm100 company earn, Rm800 is SA commission..

ya, i hv been doin surveying for more than 5 shop including Air cool, V-kool, raytech, chap marks..... the film they let us test under spot light and the heat rejection seems really effective.. the film quality like all same also.

I wil call to ecotint to get some info from them.. my car can get few more days soon.. hv to make decision faster jo..haha

You are right, gotta compare few company. The scenario really happen but i dont think we will get chop like paying RM800 to SA commission.
By the way if you get good deal from Ecotint please do share us, coz i might also need to make decision very soon. Good luck thumbup.gif

Enjoy your new ride !!!

No. It is your budget that matters. Brand doesn't make much difference.

You need at least 50% VLT pass the so called "Standard", in your case maybe gotta make the standard lower with some kopi money !

I'm used VPS's Security tint on my previus ride, it's comes with 8 (or 7 can't recalled) years warranty.. workmanship top class and the boss and the boss's father very friendly too.. cost me about RM1,200..  thumbup.gif

This may be a bit of a long shot, but where did you get your VPS security tint done? I've been googling for it but have not been able to find an installer in Malaysia.

Anyone who has details on it please do let me know. Thanks.

Getting confused with the cool cool outside.
i am getting my City soon.

newbiee for tinting
SO far....these 3 brands have the best compliments.
3M , ecotint , V-kool

which 1 can meet these criteria

-budget - max RM 2k
-smartag friendly/ remote for gate as well
-best heat rejection and block most uv lights -females care alot for these..haha
-JPJ approval

* prefer darker tint.....epecially 4 side mirrors( feel more privacy maybe)
i know its kinda difficult to have dark tint for the front mirror right...??

Seriously need help~ THX THX

Go for Ecotint Ray Barrier. I paid RM1900 with additional safety tint (side mirror only).
smarttag friendly better than v-kool elite
heat rejection slightly less than v-kool elite
tint is darker than v-kool eliet but they said JPJ compliance.

I'd tinted mine with Aircool Rm1000 package with anti-break 5mil, now after 8month the tinted seems fade already and bcome very bright.
What is your solution about this happen? tint another layer? or remove it to retint, but retint seems very wasted as i had spend Rm1k for 5yr warranty tint.

i would say windows tint is a very personal thing .. one might have good experience with one and might not apply to everyone .. depends on luck smile.gif

as for myself .. just got my civic tinted with Aircool Duroguard 4mil safety + solar control film .. front windscreen is with the top range 98% heat rejection and smart tag friendly .. whereas all side windows and rear is with the 4mil safety tint which claimed to reject 88% of heat .. the tint is quite dark and up to my liking as well .. if not mistaken VLT is 45% only .. BUT summon is covered by Aircool biggrin.gif

price can be range from 1.4k - 1.6k depends on which windscreen tint u choose .. if you are interested can PM me .. i will give u the salesgirl number as im quite closed with her wink.gif

anybody can recommend tinting shops with good workmanship/good discount around setapak area or anywhere near here?

i would probably take rikecool.
if we want security tint, need at least 4 mil tint?

how about ecotint ray barrier but only 2 mirror in front tint with security film, how much would it likely cost for a honda city..?

tell you what .. the most important thing in windows tint are recommendation and feedbacks from current users .. all those salesperson talks are nonsense to be frank .. they can claimed how superb and how nice their film is .. but nothing beats the experience from ppl who's using it cool2.gif

this place offer safety film from 4 mils up to 12 mils price range from Rm400 - Rm 6.8k.
VLT for safety film = 98% (as it is clear film)
UVR for safety film = 99%
IRR for safety film = 5% - 10% (as safety is the first priority,u can always have second layer to increase the IRR or get the 2-in 1 film)

if u need something really work, the price will go beyond your budget.
most film offer UVR(ultraviolet rejection) of 99% IRR(infra red rejection) of 30%-94%,and most film exceed the legal VLT (visible light transmission) limits of 70% FWS and 50% rear ws and doors.

v-cool have the nice IRR and VLT % but,the price is around 1.8k - 3k for a myvi (if u need something really works)
air-cool,ecotint,v-good,llumar,tint world,3M and other tint shop have variety range of VLT and IRR,

so when u want to get ur car tinted, make sure u ask them clearly the VLT,IRR,and warranty details.
normally IRR up to 60% is already sufficient (far way better than no tint)....but if ur wallet is full enough go for 80-90 % thumbup.gif

hope that helps.

this place offer safety film from 4 mils up to 12 mils price range from Rm400 - Rm 6.8k.

*
hi.. thanks for the informative reply! smile.gif

IRR slightly above 60% will be the standard 1 i assume... those the price suits my budget...
however, my car is black color... do u think it is sufficient?

also, i saw some previous replies, some like v-kool and ecotint claimed that JPJ approved.... but when they have problems while facing Puspakom... sigh...

i just want something really legal... and at least works on heat reduction... otherwise, really no point getting if it would probably get torn off by the puspakom fellas... haha...

I'm using Sun-Gard. 53% and 5 years warranty. Installed it at Leader. Cost me about 700 for the whole car.

Safety film is to minimized the shattered glass from flying all over. There is no way it can prevent theft.
Don't be taken in by the hammer and baseball bat demo. Thieves use a device with a sharp edge, as compare to the flat surface of hammer and baseball bat.

Honestly speaking, base on my experience, I tried out Air Cool, where i spend ~Rm1.4K for whole car. It just last me for 2 years, and the color get fade out and what makes thing worst is that the heat rejection rate is not as good as a newly installed one.
Ended up, I decide to re-tint my car again. After certain research, I decide to go for Huper Optic. Yes, it is expensive where i spend ~RM2K for the whole car. Anyway, so far another 2 years, no regret in selecting Huper Optic as it realy out perform Air Cool. Color still looks good...

Hay guys,

I'm new to all this car tinting stuff, so I need a little advice. If I want good heat reduction, high visible light transmission (basically as little darkening of the glass as possible), security properties and as little effect to GPS signal as possible, which tint would be the most suitable for me? My SA is suggesting Ray-Tech, but I've heard that it can cause major problems with GPS.

just wonder,

as jpj only approved tint that more than 70% for windscreen, but ecotint Ray Barrier are only 63% as state in their website.

isnt mean fail for the jpj compliant?

By the way, how's Llumar in rejecting heat? Does it have any effect on GPS?

I have a couple of colleagues saying some good things about SunGard. I've not used this personally though. Costs about RM400 for a Swift.

Added on January 18, 2010, 9:16 pmAnyone used Tint Master before? seems like it's a range of security tints as well.

Llumar is pretty good at rejecting heat. My unscientific test sitting in my gf's car (Llumar), felt the same as my car (V-Kool Elite). Looks a little darker from the outside than my car, but maybe that's caused by her using the maximum thickness of the Llumar security film on her windows that her car can support. Not sure about GPS, will be testing that tomorrow with my Garmin 1460. Smart-Tag: no problems at all.

----

Tested with Garmin nuvi 1460 on my gf's car with Llumar - no problems at all, good reception.

Doing research on the brand and the price of tint film for my windscreen only. Need your advice.

we sent our car tinted with eco tint ray barrier to puspakom yesterday.
the front screen was failed and need to be torn off to pass the VLT test.
but eco tint claimed that their tint is JPJ compliant when we installed it.
can we claim them?
