Originally it should be Hiroshima Miyajima oyster. Because November to March are Japan oyster season and Hiroshima Oyster are the best. But recently alot forumer here are going Kyoto. Arashiyama are one of top choice. The food that really capture me at Arashiyama are 嵐山いこい Location please refer to map. Just beside the Hotel 旅亭 嵐月 During lunch time you can buy thier Bento set Or have a Oden (関東煮) set. Oden are this shop primary selling point. Best part of this restaurant are the river view.
Tips of the months Nagoya delicious fried Tonkatsu shop. Open since 1947. My personal think this shop selling most tasty pork meal in Nagoya City. Location: Nearby to Yabacho Station. First at Nagoya Station take Higashiyama Line to Sakae Station then Change to Meijo Line to Yabacho Station. Exit 4 then walk 5 minute to Destination.
Their shop most ultimate dish are 鉄板とんかつ わらじとんかつ ひれとんかつ
After when to this shop so many times.....Found out their secret Menu. This did't put in their menu. When you order 鉄板とんかつ or わらじとんかつ then say ''Half''. Then they will combine this 2 together in one plate.
Spending cost around 1300 - 2000 Yen but the taste really worth the price

I'm confused by the seat fee for trains because I'm getting conflicting answers from google.
I'll be arriving in Haneda en route to Nagano. Based on some websites, the trip is as simple as getting a train ride from the airport to Tokyo station and then hopping on the bullet train.
The fare for the bullet train is then split into two, there the ticket price and then the seat reservation fee. If I dont opt to pay the seat reservation fee, then I'll be using the non reserve cab on the train right and those seats are first come first served?
Also, I'll be travelling with ski gear. Do I need to check those in for the train ride?

If you take AirAsia. It will arrived Midnight. No that simple anymore. Normal daylight. 2Way 1st - Just take keikyu Airport Line to Shinagawa Station then change to Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station then Nagano Shinkansen to Nagano Station. 2nd - Take Haneda Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station then change to Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station Then nagano Shinkansen to Nagano Station.

If I dont opt to pay the seat reservation fee, then I'll be using the non reserve cab on the train right and those seats are first come first served? Yes, With no Seat Reservation. It will be First Come first serve. If Holiday season. You need standing at Non Reservation section all the way to Destination. Like our KTM commuter train.
Also, I'll be travelling with ski gear. Do I need to check those in for the train ride? If you're travelling to and from ski areas, there will be space inside each Shinkansen bullet train carriage for large ski/snowboard bags - please let the conductors know when you board that you'd like to stow them. In addition to this there is the standard area for luggage inside each shinkansen carriage: overhead storage and behind the last seats in the carriage, though these can get crowded.
Station concourses can get busy, especially during rush hour, so you should try and keep your gear as tightly packed and as easy to move as possible. Ski/snowboard bags with wheels are a good purchase.
If you really have a lot of things, consider using the Takyuubin delivery service, which is incredibly efficient at getting your items to the right place. You should be able to send your skis and other equipment direct to your hotel from the airport with a next day service, and is highly recommended. You can use the same service to send your equipment back to the airport.
Finally, if you need to do some more travelling once you are away from the slopes, you can store luggage at the left luggage counter available in most stations. The left luggage counter in Tokyo station, for example, can hold onto items for up to 15 days.

If you take AirAsia. It will arrived Midnight. No that simple anymore. Normal daylight. 2Way Yeah, I'll be arriving midnight. I was thinking of staying at the airport hotel before we start moving the next day. I'm not sure by what you meant with "Normal daylight. 2way" but I assume that youre recommending we travel during the day?
1st - Just take keikyu Airport Line to Shinagawa Station then change to Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station then Nagano Shinkansen to Nagano Station. 2nd - Take Haneda Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station then change to Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station Then nagano Shinkansen to Nagano Station. Thanks for the route recommendation. The second option is the one I consistently come across so I think I'll go with that.

The trip is gonna be about 1 hour and a half from Haneda to Nagano. I think I'll opt for the seated option although I wont be traveling during their Holiday season.

I have never been inside the bullet train before but I'll assume that ski bags that are 160cm in length wont fit the overhead compartments. How do I inform the conductor beforehand? Will he help me unstow it when I disembark?

Question, how expensive are things like groceries in Tokyo/Osaka? Things like uncooked rice, breads and eggs?
In Kyoto,
I will said that you should concentrate on how cheap the price you can get. Raw rice-300-400 yen for 1kg pac, but they do have pre-cook rice, which you can buy it and re-heat it in microwave, rice portion enough for 2 meal-200-300yen,
bread- a bread with super soft quality, 6-8 slice, ,150-200yen
egg- 12 egg about 200-300 yen
It depend on location and which store u going in, different store have different price, generally, 7-11, Dawson and Familymart are the 3 big player they, in term of pricing, each have it own attracting item. In every street u will see at least 1 big 3 grocery store over they.
If you lazy to choose and cook, just buy their set meal for noddle or rice or Japanese set, the price range from 300-700 yen.
For the pricing in Tokyo, might be slightly expensive, or waite for others forumer comments.

I was sort of thinking of bringing in things like those fried rice paste and brahim's chicken curry and such to cook when we're in the house, hence the question. Was thinking of buying things like rice, eggs or bread there. If rice is too expensive there, I'll probably just bring a small 1kg pack to start off with from here.
This post has been edited by air_mood: Jul 7 2014, 11:19 PM
the rice can serve you 2 meal, the bread & egg can cook for 2-3 person for breakfast lei, some pack packer place, u can get free coffee as well.
Rm 10 in Malaysia I can buy 5 bowl of rice. Tesco got sold weighing rice 24 egg While japan only can get 8 egg. More than 8 egg will be more than 300yen including tax 4 Gardenia Bread While Japan only can get 1 bread like Gardenia size only. McD BigMac large set at Mc saver timing. While Japan only can get a Bowl of Sukiya Yuniku rice without any drinks.
Japan living cost is higher than Malaysia. Sure the thing will be expensive. unless you work in Japan earning Yen. plus Malaysia Ringgit value are . After doing conversion.....everything are

Go Don-ki (Don-Quijote), locals pronounce as Don-Kibote. Plenty of cheap and good stuffs (Clothes, food, drinks, cosmetic, facial, adult, IT, phone).
P/S: Sigh, next year Japan trip seems difficult. Jobless liao.

Congratulations on the V5 thread. I have been following this thread for quite some time and just now, I finally purchased return ticket KUL-NRT by AirAsia X, less than a week after they introduced it. I will be travelling with my wife n 2 yr old daughter. Plan to cover osaka as well, using JR pass.
Initial plan was to buy KUL-KIX and HND-KUL but the ticket price was so expensive when buying separately.

For Casio, even in Japan, their factory are seperated to normal factory and premmium production line in yamagata. There are quite a number of models that you dont really get in Malaysia, and of course some limited edition which is even hard to get in Japan. Another casio model I like is Protrek. Not sure if its being sold in Malaysia though.

Thats possible. Have a friend who actually bought a few gshock here and says its cheaper and newer version as well compare to Malaysia. At yodobashi, if you are a tourist, you dont need to pay the 8%tax if its more than 10,000yen.
guys i need some suggestion on buying travelling bagpack, this my 1st time buying one, i hope someone can recommend me which one is good, water proof is a must in case of raining...i prefer medium size as im not that big of a person...

AirAsia mainly fly to Haneda Airport...but I think November onwards they will also fly to Narita Airport.
But...why would you fly AirAsia? MAS is cheaper if you book it from Singapore.
i got pretty nice offer though, 1k return... but i really hope narita airport will update their website end of this year... sked later arrive there can't return back to malaysia

ofcoz i paranoid lol, my first time going holiday by myself, before this always go through package
You're paranoid. Don't worry and just relax. These things take some time to update their website. Going on trips yourself is much more fun than travel agent packages.

Normally Yodobashi price are cheaper than normal price. There is one website kakaku.com that actually list out which shops sell the cheapest. Of course if you were to buy a watch, its better to go to the shop to look at the real thing. You can even bargain with them to give you some discount. In Bic Camera besides the 8% of the consumption tax, you get another 5% off if you were to use Visa card.
When we buy those packed bento at convenience store, do we need to microwave them? I plan to buy and eat it later, if I microwave it there, it will be too hot to carry

You can eat it wihout needing to microwave them. If you plan to eat it after two hour after buying no point to microwave it as it will be cold again. Its better to just buy, microwave and eat on the spot.

Hi i have a question, it's my first time going to japan and i will be going to japan alone and will be joining my friend and her sister in nikko the next day.
My question is, i will be arriving in haneda ard 11pm and was thinking to book first cabin haneda for the night but im worried that im might not able to take the terminal train since it's closed at midnight. Should i book hotel nearby the airport and take taxi instead?
Another question is, i will only be traveling in Tokyo area for 5days. I read from the thread that JR pass is not really usable when traveling in tokyo. Should i buy a suica card or just buy from the ticket machine at the station?

In Tokyo, JR Pass is only valid for the JR lines in Tokyo and for the monorail. You should get a Suica or Passmo for the rest.
Calling those can that read Japanese. Google translator kinda messed up the meaning.
Opening hours for a restaurant: 平日12:00~15:00、17:00~25:00 土曜・祝前日:12:00~25:00
Google translator: 12:00 to 25:00 on weekdays 15:00,17:00 ~ 12:00 to 25:00: Saturdays, day before holiday
On saturday. will it continue to open until 1am (25pm) or there is a break in between (12pm-3pm, 5pm-1am)?
Google is sort of correct. Weekdays: 12:00-15:00, 17:00 -1am. It opens from 12 to 1am without any break on Saturday or the day before a public holiday.

Our final destination in Kyoto would be Fushimi Inari Shrine. We were here simply because we wanted to attempt to get some exercise and attempt to climb all the way to the summit of Mount Inari, to see some sunset perhaps. Also, Memoirs of Geisha being shot at this location was also one of the pulling factors.
n essence this is no easy feat, as all of us were quite exhausted from all the travelling and walking over the past 8-9 days in Japan. And to climb 233 metres to the top via all the staircases, this is proving to be a daunting task.
DSC07584 by zstan, on Flickr A looooong way up. Looks damn simple from the picture though
Fortunately, it rained earlier hence the obstacle of the scorching summer heat is now out of the equation. And so, we begin our journey starting with the trails leading from the temple. At the start of the hiking trail, you can still many tourists but their numbers dwindle as the steps further ascend. All the trails are covered with torii gates. To have your name your name inscribed on the gates costs a huge fortune.
After about a 10 minute walk we reached one of the most prominent landmark in the temple, a two parallel row of gates called Senbon Torii, which marks the very back of the shrine's main grounds and the entrance into the forest grounds and officially up towards Mount Inari.
I can't remember how long it took, but it took quite a while to reach our next 'pit stop', which was this beautiful lake in the middle of the mountain. Apart from us, there's also this lady who's wearing super high heels and hiking with her boyfriend like the stairs didn't matter. This proved a great motivation for us to keep climbing.
Along the way up to the summit, there are many vending machines selling beverages for tourists and hikers alike to quench their thirst. The irony is that the price increases as you go higher up. Smart. There are also shops that sells food and stuff but we didn't manage to try any as most were closed for business
DSC07620 by zstan, on Flickr Girl with high heels reaching first D:
And after what feels like one hour plus later, we finally made it to the peak! Overjoyed indeed. Although the sight was not we envisioned hahaha. Apparently the view of Kyoto city is at another lower peak. So no sunset view here. Nevertheless it was quite an achievement coming all the way to Japan to do some hiking.

from my exp, haneda airport international terminal which is the 1 u going to land there allow passenger to overnite there 1... if domestic terminal cannot. actually quite safety 1... in japan no need to worry bout ur thing or luggage wil hilang. the security patrol around very very often 1. and the seat there, quite comfortable i can say. u can even lay on the 3 seats together with out anything in btw the seat. another reason why i sleep airport is that if i were to overnite at hotel nearby then there is possibility that i wil reach hotel in btw 1-2am then 2morrow morning need to check out at 10am since in jpn hotel check in is at 3pm n check out is at 10am. so i rather save the hotel money around RM150-RM200 to buy stuff at jpn... hehe...

The 1st platter is Y1750 per person, and then it adds minimum order for 2 people (Y3500) which kinda confuse me. If I have 3 people in my group, so need to pay Y1750 x 3? Cannot just order 2 platters, then shared by 3 people?
What if we want to have 1 order of the 1st platter and 1 order of the 2nd platter? Can we share these 2 platters between the 3 of us?
This is not all-you-can-eat menu, so why they put the per person and minimum thing?

It was quantity for a person. That platter must minimum order for 2 person quantity. u can 10 ppl share 1 platter but that platter minimum must start from 2.
I was planning to visit Kiso Valley on this Dec, but now that the area is closed, can you recommend some other place with nice scenery as alternative?
My itinerary is as follow - Nagoya - Yamnouchi - Obuse - Nagano - Matsumoto - "Kiso Valley" - Nagoya - Nara - Osaka.

Kiso Valley can replaced by Gero Onsen or Magome
Magome will be very near to your usual plan ''Kiso valley'' Just need to take ''Shinano'' Limited Express train from Nagoya Station to Nakatsugawa Station (中津川駅). At Nakatsugawa Station take Kitaena Public Bus Code M to Magome. 30 Minute Bus Ride

1. I'm travelling to Osaka late September, and arrives in Kansai airport at around 3.30pm. Can anyone advise what time is the rush hour in Osaka? I'm going to Shinsaibashi station from the airport.
2. My friends are flying off from KIX at 6pm, while my flight is 11.35pm. I am thinking of making a solo day trip to Kobe (since there's a high speed ferry service to KIX there). Question is, is there a luggage storage facility in the Kobe ferry terminal?

they put the minimum order so that you cannot order less than 2 person. they probably have an overhead they need to cover. its just like Nabe, it does not matter how many ppl u have, you have to order minimum 2 person share. so yes, u can order 2 person portion shared by 3 ppl. They need to give unit cost per person so that if someone wants to order 3 person or more, they can just multiply accordingly.

If I am interested to travel around Hokkaido, what is the best mode of transport? Self drive or via rail?
I am a fan of rail travel since I did my Europe rail travel, the shortcoming is just to visit rural area which rail and public transport would be limiting.
Roughly how much it cost to stay in a good Hostel? Is 10 days good enough to do a not so rushed itinerary in the Island?

Rail only good in Sapporo. Need car for the rest of the island. U can fly in one airport and fly out another airport. 10 days can cover a lot on the island

Learned the hard way, don't try to over extend.. Just be happy of what you have planned.. If you want to cover more extend your days =)
Was so tired and started to get frustrated when I try to cover 11 cities in 25 days during my Europe tour.
Would 10 days there with a budget say 6~8k be sufficient? inclusive of air ticket too. I would like to do a long distance run event (marathon or half) then continue on with my tour

Rail are quite good in Hokkaido. It still link to all major City. For those onsen spot or sightseeing spot. It have all free shutter bus to nearest station.
It already cover up all non rail area. Public transport in Hokkaido I give 85/100 score.

From Inari, we took a train back to Kyoto station arrived JR Osaka station about 45 minutes later. Then we started to use our Osaka 2 day pass which grants unlimited subway use and boarded to train to Shinsaibashi for our very belated dinner.
Osaka, being one of the 3rd largest city in Japan, is also as vibrant and lively as Tokyo. This was very much of what Shinsaibashi has to offer being one of the spots for nightlife as well as for fashion. As we have arrived a bit late, most of the shops have begun to close.
Once again, due to time constraints we were quite with limited with what we could visit. Hence the first place that we visited was Fugetsu, to try one of Osaka's most famous delicacy - okonomiyaki! This place was inside the coupons that came with the Osaka 2-day pass (free Asahi beer) and was recommended by some websites.
Shinsaibashi also has its fair share of dodginess as social escorts (i think) can be seen all around the streets. As the well dressed male and female approach random strangers on the streets, to which a majority rejected their offer of something. These people (the girls) look really decent and certainly of model quality I guess.Quite an eye opener.
We didn't get to try any takoyaki though, which is also one of the most famous delicacy in Osaka. Was feeling too full after the sumptuous okonomiyaki. Maybe at another stop then.
below is a draft of my itinenary going on march 2015 for 10 days

To me look like u rushing...depends on ppl actually, but if i were you i will plan my 10 days trip to a maximum of 3 places, 3 days for each place, to me travelling is all about relax and have a good time...theres no point in rushing, tired is one thing, but will you enjoy your trip? below is a draft of my itinenary going on march 2015 for 10 days
day1 arrival day2 osaka castle, kaiyukan aquarium, dotonbori day3 USJ, namba I think it's a bit rushed here. I spend the entire day in USJ, and that is with the special pass day4 kinkakuji, arashiyama, nishiki market Nishiki Market is kinda boring, and Arashimaya is really packed towards the afternoon, so you might want to do Arashimaya first day5 fushimi inari, kiyomizudera day6 travel to tokyo, sensoji, ueno park day7 hakone day8 disneysea day9 tsukiji market, tokyo tower, odaiba city day10 meiji jingu, hachiko statue day 11 depart
does it look too rush? yeah, soem of the places are far between one another, especially when you opt to walk/public transport and some of the places are huge enough that you need to spend a good few hours on it, you also have to take into account the closing period of these areas or any places i miss out? You missed out Kobe and Nara and maybe the onsen experience thanks

After a good night's sleep, well not that good as we have only slept for a couple of hours when we woke up at 5am to visit Spa World which was just located a few stations away from Tennoji. Since this spa is opened almost 24 hours per day we decided to take advantage of it due to our very limited time, as this was our last day in Japan.
Spa World, like its title, is essentially a combination of onsen's from all around the world. The male and female spots are separated into 2 different levels, which is the European & Asian onsens. Essentially each level has different themes of onsen's and every month of the year, the male and female will cross over in between each levels. When i was there, it was the European onsen for the male. I was a bit disappointed though as I had hoped to try the traditional Japanese outdoor bath in the other section.
Nevertheless the European onsen is not too bad at all, with onsen's from Rome, Greece, Spain etc. The combination is really just good as there are the really cold as well as hot onsens and medicated ones as well. Many locals can be seen just relaxing around before they head for work. Since we had the vouchers, we only had to pay a bit more compared to the original price of 2,400 yen.
People may say this is not the true onsen experience in Japan but I'm just making use of whatever time I have haha. Well at least everybody being naked (compulsory) is also part of the experience. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in a vicinity. I particularly enjoyed the Mediterranean onsen. It was facing the sky directly and any airborne helicopter or plane could see all the naked men down there. The pouring 'waterfall' or whatever you call it was amazing. Quite a good massage early in the morning. The ones that I did not really enjoy was the really, really cold pool of water as well as the crazy hot salt sauna. Nevertheless it was a good experience hopping from blistering hot waters to freezing cold waters and back to humane temperatures.
Hope to come back in the near future to enjoy the Asian onsens instead, or maybe a really Japanese onsen for change. :3 Apart from the onsens, they also have indoor water theme park which is pretty cool. No time to try that though.

Very good airline. One of the Best. Refer to Page 1 if you plan to travel with Peach Airline. It was at Kansai Terminal 2.
If you want save budget even more. Try Willer Express. More comfort than Peach Airline with half to the price.

If you just want to travel to Tokyo and Yokohama only no need to book different place for accomodation. Last year I went to Tokyo, Nikko, Hakone and Yokohama I just stay at 1 hostel. Just use the public transport to go to those places.

I've planned a trip to Japan from the 10th till the 25th of August . Will be backpacking solo. I just need some advice from sifus here as to whether it is better to withdraw a lump some of money before I go there or should I withdraw from ATMs over there? What works out better? thanks

You can exchange the pass earlier but make sure you provide the correct start date
From our lunch spot nearby Tennoji station, we headed to one of Tennoji's landmarks which was none other than the Tennoji Temple. From the train station its actually a good 15-20 minute walk to actually get to the place. The summer heat was really unforgiving as well.
To be honest, the temple was not really impressive. I am guessing it's more of an actual temple for spiritual use instead of a being a tourist ground. However if you are interested in the story of the Buddha, the insides of the main temple actually made a great depiction of the whole story: from the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, to his renunciation of his throne, attaining enlightenment etc., then this might be an interesting stop.
yeah fully booked on my date as well. maybe rent a sim card for my phone or my pocket wifi.
There's also prepaid sim card in japan right? just wondering. Usually when I travel other country I just buy a prepaid card for data usage.
You can consider B mobile travel pack for visitor. You can always buy it online and get them to send to airport for pickup or send to the hotel that you are going to stay
You can consider to go Kibune and experience the kaiseki lunch on a platform that built over river. You can soak your leg in the cchilling river water!

Thanks. I'm staying at Ryokan at Gion. There's Gion summer festival but it's ending, think there's the closing service at eki shrine, anyone knows whats that about?
i tried to upload to attach but doesnt know why it failed! aiks...
choose files-> selected the pic -> add this attachment -> uploading completed -> nothing appear for me to add it to the post
btw, transport to Kibune could be a little bit troublesome for first timer to Japan. furthermore, if you plan to have Kaiseiki lunch, you can always hop into respective restaurant's free shuttle from the train station.
those lunch comprises around 6 courses and above which cost at least 7500 yen per pax. please ask your hotel to do reservation for you if you are going during weekend
Just to share about how Japanese spent their weekend during summer.
All these platform over the river will only be built during summer time in Kibune. Kibune located in the northern part of Kyoto. Other than this special kaiseki lunch, Kibune Shrine is worth the visit too. It is worthwhile to spend a morning visiting the Kibune Shrine then follow by lunch.
Basically we were like the very few foreigner that have lunch there and we followed the culture of Japanese to have beer during lunch

From the temple we then took another subway to head towards Osaka's next landmark - Osaka Castle! Since we wanted to utilise our Osaka 2 day pass we took the subway instead. Unfortunately the nearest subway station is a good 15 minute walk away and the summer heat as well as the strong and hot wind blowing against us wasn't do the journey any favours.
Osaka castle is strategically located in the middle of a park with walls surrounding the main area. It is after all a fortress for war in the olden Japanese days.
With the 2-day pass, we got to enter the castle free of charge. The tour of the castle starts at the very top and the visitors descend each floor which comprises of different exhibits, mostly showing the history of this grand castle and how the different Japanese armies dreamt of conquering this great castle. The bad news was that you have to climb all the way to the top as the elevator is only reserved for disabled people only.
At the top of the castle you can get a birds eye view of the surrounding Osaka city. The wind at the top is very strong as well and you can feel that your face is almost blown away. Beware if you have little kids though as they may tend to climb everywhere.
For souvenirs I got myself an Osaka Castle coin which can be found in a machine at the ground floor. Upon paying an extra fee you can also get your name engraved on the gold coin. In total the coin cost me 430 yen. Not too bad. The quality of the coin is very good but you may need to learn how to work with the computer and engraving system.
To cool ourselves down we headed to the stalls just outside the castle for some desserts.
I bought a cone of peach ice cream at ¥300 and it was absolutely delicious. The peach flavouring was spot on and there were actual bits of peaches in the ice cream as well. For close to RM10 I expect nothing less though, haha. It's really hard to find tasty peach flavoured ice creams back in Malaysia. =/
I also tried their cantaloupe, couldn't remember the price. It was also really sweet and juicy but I think I could find a cheaper one back in Malaysia. Melons are generally pricey in Japan for some reason.
After our short break we then headed back to the park, whereby hundreds or thousands of visitors throng this place during the cherry blossom season to have picnics while enjoying the magnificent sakura trees. Too bad everything is green now.
Huge areas of grass for picnic-goers to lay their mats on. At that time there were only us haha. We managed to take some crazy photos and lie on the grass while 'enjoying' the summer sun. Bad idea though as most of us got really bad rashes on our hands. @@ Probably due to the bugs in the grass. The grasses were also meticulously maintained and it's really great to lie on. Ahhh wish I could be back here for Spring. I think I am mentioning this in every post LOL.
Where can I get cheap Kit Kats in Tokyo? Would like to buy a bunch for a group of people. From what I read, Tokyo Station, near the Ramen Street, there is a snack shop that sells over 10 flavors of Kit Kat. 12s box, 840 yen. Thats around the same price as here, except that I can only get green tea and dark chocolate flavor here.
Ameyoko has very cheap Matcha (12s bag, 245 yen). Now thats dirt cheap.
Sakura-matcha (30s for i think 2,100 yen?) can be bought from Haneda Airport.
Below is my planned itinerary on Jan 9 2015 to Jan 18 2015.

All time calculations based on hyperdia.
Will be using Air Asia to fly to KIX from KUL.
Jan 9 - Arrival at KIX airport. Plan to use Star Flyer (under ANA) to transit to Tokyo Haneda at 11am. Scheduled to reach hotel at 1.30pm. Hotel will be near Tochomae station in Shinjuku. Plan to head over to Shibuya for Hachiko statue and the famous Shibuya crossing and later heading back to Shinjuku for dinner and maybe some nightlife.
*Previously thought i could use peach but they seem to have canceled their 12pm flight to narita so have to resort to ANA at a heftier price. Might use Jetstar Japan's 2pm flight but will reach around 5.30pm at my hotel which is unfavourable.
Jan 10 - Self explanatory.
Jan 11 - Planning to wake up early and head over to meiji shrine as it is nearby and then transfer hotel to Roppongi. Will then head over by train/subway for Asakusa, Sensoji and Tokyo Skytree. Ueno park is optional.
Jan 12 - Self explanatory.
Jan 13 - Really want to have sushi at Dai Sushi in Tsukiji leaving Roppongi Station at 5am using Oedo Line to Tsukijishijo. Next would head over to Either odaiba which is south or to Harajuku then akiba .. would need suggestions. Maybe swap with Jan 11 Itinerary.
Jan 14 - Shinkansen to Kyoto early in the morning then check in hotel at around Shichijo station. After that Arashiyama and Kinkakuji.
Jan 15 - Planning to go to Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizudera. Maybe Higashiyama.
Jan 16 - Transit by train/subway to hotel around Nakafuto station Osaka. Going for Osaka Castle then Dotonburi and Namba. Cant wait to try out the famous osaka okonomiyaki as featured on page 1.
Jan 17 - Self explanatory.
Jan 18 - Wake up early to go the nearby Kaiyukan Aquarium before checking out to transfer to airport at around 12.30pm after lunch. Flight back to KUL at 4.55pm.
Question would be i need suggestions for Jan 11 and Jan 13. Plus any other food suggestions ! Another thing would be is there any other must go sights that i have missed out ?

That shop in Tokyo station is called Shokoku Gotochi, it is generally expensive.
You can buy similar stuffs from Don Quijote (pronounced as Don-Kibote or Donki by locales). They have many branches around Tokyo area.
Go to the one in Shibuya... 245yen same 12s or 13s varies for flavor. I got 2 dozens of dark Kit Kat there.

Just buy from airport will do as it will be tax free.
Btw, Hokkaido red bean kitkat is in season. And there are two special flavor which both can be found in haneda airport shops that is near to check in counter, the two flavors are microwave-needed kiatkat (the flavor should be caramel) and 一辛 or 一味kiatkat.

Hi. If you are in Kyoto and doesn't mind to travel a bit to the outskirts of kyoto city , you can consider going to the Sansenin (a shrine) in Ohara
7am was very late already in Japan. Sunrise at 5.30am. 7am was like 9am in Malaysia. Totally bright light
thanks for your advice. i planned to have breakfast in kuramon ichiba first then visit osaka castle which open around 9am. ill postponed it to the day i go to kyoto.
if i post my itinerary here, is it possible for you guys to advice me on which gate i need to take when im exiting the train station to other place?
based on the attachment, do i need to buy separate tickets from nipponbashi to minamimoramachi and from minamimorimachi to higashiumeda with the total cost of 240 yen
or
buy a single ticket (240yen) from nipponbashi to higashiumeda which i just need to change train at minamimorimachi station?

One Ticket only. Because they are same company. It was like Putra LRT change to Star LRT at Masjid Jamek Station

take side trip to kobe eat kobe steak lo, (relatively) short trip only while in kyoto go eat their kyoto style mackerel sushi, or the gogyo burnt ramen near the market area. and go find kaiseki restoran and have dinner.

Japan Trip - Kansai Airport Is time! Our long planned Japan trip is finally here! We bought our tickets around Nov 2013 during the Air Asia sales, a couple of return to Osaka. Then we revised our plan, again and again and again, and we got greedy; at the end we decided to both Kansai and Kanto region in 11 days.
During the planning phase, only 2 of us will be travelling, but as times goes, 2 more innocent travellers decided to join us. Revise everything again to take the best advantage of 4 travellers, sharing cost and such. Talking to our host in Japan, liaising with our friend in Tokyo to make sure everything is settle.
Then we were lucky enough to experience the new KLIA 2 just after few days later from the official launch.
Snacks booth inside KLIA 2KLIA 2 was huge, and tiring to walk. However the interior design was OK, just some design flaw of being inconvenient. Tons of potential empty spaces being to utilized.
Resting benchCan you see the design of those chair? It is not design to be slept on! Bad choice of chairs for airport., especially for those who decided to overnight in the airport. Guess KLIA 2 want to make extra profit from their hotel services.
D7 0532 - Kansai Osaka Most of the booth are not open yet, so we were super starved inside the departure hall. Nothing to eat, trying to beat the hunger with water, sweets and games.

Thanks. ¥245 is really cheap. Over here its about RM23++. I can buy all those in the pic here except for the vanilla one though. I'll probably be buying a whole bag of them back to distribute. It's the only gift that I can think of that people will actually like, and will last longer compared to cakes.

Frankly speaking, I regret brought so many back. I bought about 20pack. It take up a lot of space + hand carry. Cause the kitkat pack inside have air. You can't compact it to save some space.
I even not enough to distribute to relative and friend back. Not a good idea as gift for me.
Just wonder if any sifus here did try out the Japanese GP (F1) at Suzuka Circuit before? I will be going to the race this year in Oct with Nagoya as my base (hotel near train station) and will be there from Oct 3-6, before heading off to Tokyo (until Oct 11).
Any advice on, esp. 1) travel from Nagoya to Suzuka circuit, 2) things to do, see and try in Nagoya, Suzuka and the race circuit, 3) train from Nagoya to Tokyo (or any recommended stop over spot in between)

Jusco selling at about RM17 the other day. Got some promo for the Green Tea one.

Finalized my bookings. All that left is for looking for a cheap place to stay for 2 days in Osaka from 7/9 to 9/9. Mostly a theme park oriented trip. Party of 4 until the 6th, then party of 2.
1/9 - Fly off from KL to Haneda. Reaching Haneda at night so will just probably sleep at the airport benches. 2/9 - Renting the shower room in Haneda to freshen up. Taking a bus from Haneda to Fuji-Q at 6+ am, reaching about 930 for the haunted hospital thingy. Will probably be there until 2 or so before coming back to Tokyo. Check in that go for a walkabout, probably around Shibuya or so as we're staying in an apartment near there. 3/9 - Tokyo Disneysea 4/9 - Tokyo Disneyland 5/9 - Free day in Tokyo, no real idea yet where we're going. Meiji Castle, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Roppongi most likely. 6/9 - Morning flight via Peach to Osaka. Free day in Osaka. Maybe going Dotonbori and the likes. No real idea on what to in Osaka to be honest. Probably sightseeing. 7/9 - Another free day in Osaka without any real plans yet. 2 friends leaving on the evening flight back to KL, 2 of us still staying. 8/9 - Universal Studios Japan 9/9 - Loiter around Osaka before leaving back to KL in the evening.
Staying in houses booked thru on AirBNB throughout our stay in Tokyo and for the 6th in Osaka. Looking for another apartment to stay in Osaka for 2 for the last 2 days.
Judging by our travels, there's really no daily train pass or something like that to suits us right? I would assume it's better to just get the PASMO or ICOCA? Any suggestions on where we should probably go in Osaka to fill up the time?

So, you plan to go Fuji Q theme park with all luggage?
Camping bags and a small bag for food. That's the plan. I actually just called them ad the person on the phone mentioned that there's a luggage storage area at the entrance for 500 yen. Person spoke limited English though so going to send them an email just to be sure. My other option was going to Shinjuku from the airport and getting a bus there to Fuji Q. Being a bus terminal I was sort of assuming that they will have luggage storing areas. Any other way you would suggest? We will actually be staying in an apartment near Shibuya.
Was also exploring the option of going to Gotemba from the theme park but not entirely sure yet how convenient that is going to be.

You can always do day trip or half day trip to Kobe or Nara or Kyoto
Quick question. Since I have the afternoon to night part of Sunday free and the morning up to say noon part free on Tuesday, is it worth the trouble to go to say Kyoto on the Sunday and Kobe on the Tuesday? Research shows it's a short train trip so was thinking of just going and loitering about. Haven't really checked on what exactly to see in Kyoto/Kobe yet. Should I consider Nara instead?
Saw the Kitkat green tea flavour in one of the supermarkets lately. Can't recall which one liao.
You can find it in certain local shopping mall that sell Japanese food. I ve seen it before last year. But the price is almost triple. kitkat green tea is the most famous among the flavor.
anyone going to Tokyo in 2 weeks time? ill be there for 2 weeks. apparently its freakin hot!
go in summer of course hot lo on the bright side summer = peach season so go buy and eat a lot of peaches, they gooding.

For me, Kyoto not worth considering u only have 4d3n (i.e. 3 actual days), 1 of which is taken up by USJ. Might as well spend the whole time in Osaka. Kobe or Nara can be an OK side trip if you absolutely can't find anything in osaka that you're interested in visiting.

Can have a haft day tour to Nara to see the deer and surrounding, come back by 4-5pm, and rest , come out again for Osaka night view/window shopping, since it summer, would advise to come out at night to have cooler temperature, can go Namba, Shinsaibashi and surround area, but be prepare to walk a lot.
8/9 - Universal Studios Japan 9/9 - Loiter around Osaka before leaving back to KL in the evening.

Anyone here have experience using Icoca & Haruka? I plan to purchase the round-trip ticket. Once I activate the card on Day 1. Can I still reuse the return ticket to KIX on Day 10? Need advise.

I was planning to travel alone in October, when I kinda thought it would be less hot. A friend had a trip planned in September though and invited me to tag along. Did Hong Kong alone though.

Actually they will issue 2 pcs- Haruka ticket to you, one for the outbound KIX( use on day 1) and another ticket for you to take the Haruka back to KIX (use on last day), please get early to train station to board the Haruka train which is painted in silver colour and the interval time for non-peak hour is about 30 min one.

Sep-Oct for me still quite warm, a cooler weather will be on Nov-Dec.

Haruka Express body paint was not sliver colour. It was White + Blue. You should not recognize train by colour. This was very dangerous. You should read the electronic info board at platform.
similliar function as Hyperdia but focus only on Kyoto area.
so far, i find arukumachi is better than hyperdia as it include bus routes and some train stations that you cant find in hyperdia such as torokko train stations.
another thing i like about it; i can put hotels/attraction spots in arrival and depature.

Hotel got 24 hours kuronekoyamato service but found out there's bus limousine to narita airport, cost 3100yen, compare to train doesn't cost that much different unless I take train/bus.
End up taking the bus limousine to airport then purchase the boxes to pack my things.
I got 2 box for 680yen, cheaper than buying another luggage.

1 thing I learn when pack luggage. Do not use box if you don't want kena custom. Pack to bag as much as possible.
Custom normally target box to scan and rip. Because they know good tax thing will spill over into the box.
The last time i went back from Jakarta, once in LCCT with Batmobile, big box and LCCT tax me, I under valued it though, then I went through KLIA with the same item, the custom officer scan the box and said "kereta" then let me pass.

The chance are kena tax is high with the box. If bag, lower chance. Their eye scan for this item.
Another is cross the custom during many ppl together. Best if those 1 group holiday. The custom is bz with them. And you can cross freely in the middle.

On my itinerary, I mentioned that I have the whole Friday free for loitering around Tokyo. Was suggested by a friend to take the daily JR pass for around 700 yen or so which she says covers the Yamanote line for the whole day and her mentioning it covers Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Asakusa and the likes, fit for a day of loitering. Did a bit of googling and I would assume what she meant was the JR Tokunai Pass for 750 yen. Looks and sounds kinda OK to me. Is there any drawbacks to this that I am not aware of?
Ya was good. Will upload some photos when I. Free, now back to work.
Anyway the most frustrating part. As I don't use credit card, I made quite a few transaction with my maybank ATM/debit card. I guess they are not familiar with it, they slot the card and it doesn't work, need to use the IC chip and voila, it works.
Now comes the nightmare, maybank said usually the transaction goes like this, there will be a preauth transaction deducting the amount, then refund back the amount, and another sales debit amount which goes. Deduct, refund, deduct.
But all my transaction don't get refunded so every transaction got deducted twice from my account. Have to make a dispute and wait for then to refund, which takes 2-4 weeks.

Maybank cards have some issues. A lot of ppl complain that the debit card cannot withdraw from Japan Post Office ATMs.
I recommend HSBC or Citibank for those who want to withdraw money in Japan. No problem with Post Office.
I suppose to avoid the hassle I'll convert all my RM to Yen then so I don't have to do any withdrawing in Tokyo and only use credit card for those stores that accepts it. You'll never know when hard cash is needed. I only have a Public Bank credit card so hopefully it works well.

My finished my ¥ haha, anyway I'm not using ATM withdrawal, I'm using my debit card. I used at Singapore, china, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea all no problem only japan.

Need everyone advices on: a) is my itinerary too rushed ? b) my family want to visit Shinsaibashi for shopping but i cant find the time to allocate. i cant decide which to remove from itinerary; nagoya aquarium or osaka kaiyukan? c) will the buses in kyoto always on time during peak hours? d) since we will be walking really a lot in japan, are we allowed to bring energy gels into japan? if not where can i buy energy gel in osaka?
I'm planning to go to Japan next year with friends of mine. And unfortunately just found out that there's no good flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo if I'm planning to use Skyteam network.
Bought air ticket to Tokyo next year March to see Sakura. But when our family knew that we're going to Tokyo, they told us Tokyo is not safe to go, still got radiation and etc....and now it made us hesitated whether to go or not...sigh

Hi all, will be travelling to Japan for the first time by this year end of Nov until early Dec. Interested in dipping ourselves at onsen for at least one time life experience, but is all onsen requires no clothes on us?

On my itinerary, I mentioned that I have the whole Friday free for loitering around Tokyo. Was suggested by a friend to take the daily JR pass for around 700 yen or so which she says covers the Yamanote line for the whole day and her mentioning it covers Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Asakusa and the likes, fit for a day of loitering. Did a bit of googling and I would assume what she meant was the JR Tokunai Pass for 750 yen. Looks and sounds kinda OK to me. Is there any drawbacks to this that I am not aware of?
Hehe bro I will suggest u to take metro subway pass instead of tokunai pass. It is because metro station are more nearer and convenient compared jr yamanote line.

yes no clothes with only a small towel, unless u go place like yunessun hakone...they got both. dont let it bother u la. very shiok one...should try.
Hi all, need some suggestions regarding my trip to Chubu region.
Option 1: Takayama to Shirakawa-go by Nohi Bus with return trip Transfer to Toyama. Daytrip to Kanazawa Daytrip to Kurobe Gorge
Option 2: Takayama to Shirakawa-go by Nohi Bus Shirakawa-go to Kanazawa by Nohi Bus Kanazawa to Toyama. Daytrip to Kurobe Gorge.
Which option would be better? I was thinking of purchasing the JR Central Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Ticket. I'm aware the ticket does not cover my trip to Shirakawa-go and Kanazawa as well as the Kurobe gorge railway.
Just a question, if I purchased a codeshare flight (MH9118) which I know is in fact (JL724) operated by JAL... Where do I do the online check in to secure my seat early?

After months of planning, finally I've came out my 2 weeks itinerary:

Nearby Fushimi Inari 祢ざめ家 --> for its unagi-don and inari sushi! You must be there before 5pm.
Nearby imperial place / nijo castle 麺や高倉二条 --> for its ramen!!!
In the kyoto station itself 東大拉麵 --> Yunmy ramen with free raw egg to be added to the ramen for best smoothness !!
In Nara near to the deer park 平宗 --> sushi wrapped in passimo leaves.
Thanks guys! Now I know what should I search for food!

Will AirAsia distribute the arrival slip on board?
I recall they didn't do that previously to HND
It will be my first time going to Tokyo in November. What are the details that I need to fill in the arrival slip and is it possible to get it in the airport? Prefer to fill it in earlier than halfway through the flight.

You will get the entering form in flight before each Japan. Form detail same as entering Singapore.

Take it easy ... Everything will be fine... Need not worry too much.
The reason i asked about the slip was, the AirAsia stewardess just said they didn't distribute it anymore..sigh, probably just lazy...so at the immigration, frantically filled up the form while queue-ing up.

No worries either... Just time wasting a bit... For NRT, they even have officer there to check those that have filled in on plane, to see whether they filled in properly.
hi all... wanna ask, how to get refund of sales tax when we make purchase?? any idea??
Depends on the shop. Some will just charge you the actual amount minus the 8%, while some allows you to "kumpul" all your receipt and get refund at the shop itself. Please note not all shops allows refund and to get refund you need to spend 10,000yen above in the same shop/day.

Oh mix receipt here I means from the same shop. Like Tokyu Hands they got so many floors in Shinjuku. You can "kumpul" all and pay in one shot. If you did not and pay in seperate floor then you can combine. Of course its always good to ask the shop. My friend came over recently and went to shop in Adidas Shibuya and immediately minus off the 8%. The problem here means she have to buy more!! Initially her total was about 8000yen incld tax. As she want to get the tax refund, she shop until its more than 10,000yen.
For me looks okay..on the aquarium, you decide as i am not an aquarium fan
Thank you so much for your input.

Great find! I didn't know such topics exist here. hahaha. Been to Japan many times and still haven't master the language.
I know. I'm didn't read the Rules N regulations. Why are you so uptight? I'm a newbie.
You're not a newbie la. I recognize your "deal with it" attitude from Cupid Corner.
And when was I uptight? I just linked you some other threads for your reference as you are interested in the language and culture. Me myself also interested in learning the language, hopefully before my next trip to Japan

arghhh!! it wasn't meant for you! so embarrasing. well i'm a newbie. coz I didn't even know there's a "Learn Japanese section".
You know I'm going to Osaka in December, so if anyone from lowyat tag along, feel free to join me for a nice cup of coffee or we can go Onsen, yeah!!
Speaking of Takoyakis, are there suggested places that I should go. I'm assuming takoyakis are all octopus which is why I'm looking forward to having it.
Guys I did a "panic buying" at AA cheap fare. Ended up flying in & out Nagoya this October. A bit regret that now I have to U-turn back to Nagoya to fly back, but there was no other cheap ticket that time. Also, it's not cheap, it's actually free. Pay for the minimal fee/tax only.
October is so damn near, aargh, what am I doing? Not prepared. No research. Not enough money. Backpacking freaking alone.
For now the plan is - To find youth hostel, or BB, usual backpackers place. - Not going to buy crazy ass expensive JR Pass. - Thinking of getting those "daily passes" Kampung posted. - Also the Willer bus sounds attractive, saving hotel one night! - I know internet is a pain in the ass in JP, eventhough that's very important for such unplanned travel! To research. - Not even sure going to Osaka or Tokyo
Info: - The trip is 9 days long (excluding the 2 flight days) - Usual tourist spot such as temple or themepark is not main priority since I'm on extremely tight budget (not that interested anyway)

Transportation isn't cheap in Japan, hence why JR pass is actually worth it if you are taking the shinkansen a lot.
Do some homework before expecting people here to spoonfeed you. Kampung had mentioned about portable internet before if I'm not mistaken, not that expensive and good coverage too. So no pain in the ass there.

Calm your t!ts, nobody is expecting you to spoonfeed anyone. It is a pain in the ass compared to other country.

Tight Budget means more homework I want to see you do homework first. From homework you do. I will do the correction. That will make your trip complete.
First time to Japan. Arriving at Haneda Airport 19-Oct 10.30pm.
My hotel is walking distance from TCAT (Tokyo City Air Terminal). Is the airport limo bus service operating from airport to TCAT 24 hours (just that midnight to 5am is double) ?
If not, my next option will be by taxi to hotel (google map gave me 18kms distance)

Guys, I will be going Fukouka or Tokyo to study language for 3 months. Which place would be best? Need advice to make decisions.... Eg. Price/attractions
That is a really good rate for Japan! It was RM32.20 for 1000 yen in April this year when I went.
wow, difference a lot hor...actually this few weeks I also got see the rate and it's always above 31.4. then suddenly today I see 30.9 wor. I quickly change 2k first. tonight I go change another 3k.
Bringing 5k for 10 days only for makan and little bit shopping enuf mah? My transport, i'll be buying JR pass. Then hotel, 'look' card ^^

From my observation earlier this year I realize the rate is always better on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I couldn't exchange the currency on those days as I have work commitments.
As for the budget, I am very much a backpacker so I survived with only 1.5K for 6 days but I had free accommodation (as my colleague was working there at that time) and 2-3 free meals. Of course with my limited budget (and time) I couldn't afford to go on the shinkansen so I only covered Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto.

From my experience (solo traveler)
~bfast: 200-500 yen (cup noodles is around 150yen) ~lunch / dinner: 800 - 1,500 (consider decent cuz the set got nasi, meat/chicken/fishi, soup n vege) varies on type of restaurant u go
Normally i budget like RM100 per day which include makan (bfast/dinner/lunch), train, entrance fees, abit of shopping. but it can differ if skip on makan, or get those one day train pass and etc.

Radiation takes 200 years to clear. So you no need go Japan for rest of your life if worry that much.
I'm actually not worried, I still plan to go if they don't wanna go but going with friends on holiday are more fun. But just want to convince to them, just because there's radiation there, doesn't mean we have to boycott it
My friends suddenly want change our trip to Japan next year to somewhere else because of ''radiations'' thats happening there now..

200years is too short... it need 10k+ years
and if the radiation is too severe, in the next 10years... the entire japan's north east population will die of cancer and those baby will be born with genetic mutation...
Me and my friend are planning to go to Japan in Jan mid. As both have no idea about Japan and not been there before. I would appreciate some advise from experienced for a novice like me

Try talking to them but can't force them if they don't want to. I think you are better off going with others that are not concern about it. If any of them get sick after coming back from that trip, they might blame you for it.

Last bus 0015 i suspect is bus departing from tcat.

Not sure what is so confusing. What is shown in the website is correct and 00:15 is between 0000 and 0459.
But I am not going to do that every week for 3 months right? Is it better to go Tokyo instead to see more stuff?...
Fukuoka just too near to S.Korea and Jeju Island. When I was base at Fukuoka. I always go S.Korea in weekends. Monday to Friday at Japan . Sat and Sunday At S.Korea.
This is what you cannot do at Tokyo. and Tokyo is super super boring city.

Hi,
I been travel Kyoto-Osaka in may this year. If you have limited budget, u need do more homework as suggestted by ours senior here. Basically, beside airfare, accommodation and transport cost were 2 main cost to travel in Japan, for yrs trip, i will advise that u concentrate on Nagoya, Osaka and Kyoto, this 3 city was big enough for u to look see look see for 9 days.
U need to book a backpacker hostel in advance, at least 1-2 month ahead, some good bacpacker hostel can be have for 2000 yen/nite, dun worry, some good hostel was really clean and equiped with full facilities like cooking. U can squeece abit on yrs budget by buying raw food from convinient store like 7 eleven, lawson, it can found nearly on every street . Some of the back packer hostel do provided free cooking oil, kichap, salt and sugar for their guests, so make use of this facilities for breakfast and dinner, u will suprise that, it not that expensive by own cooking in Japan.
I not agreed that most temple need to pay entrance fee, alot of temple and tourism spot in Kyoto neednot pay that, u just need to do more homework by study the japan guide before yrs trip, for me i would go into those free one or those very unique temple like golden temple, some place like Arashiyama is totally free by walking, the fushimi inari is anothrt unique place with free entrance.
For internet, u actually neednot it, most of the packbacker hostel was equiped with superfast internet connection, what u need to do at night was to surf net and take down the infor into a piece of paper or write on their tour map.
I spent about rm850 for my 6d5n trip in Osaka + Kyoto, exluded airfare, u can save alot on transportation, if you plan wisely.

Guppy: Dollar-yen could retreat to 102 Monday, 25 Aug 2014 | 11:30 PM ET
Daryl Guppy, CEO of Guppytraders.com, says chart patterns says dollar-yen's recent peak at 106 will be short-lived and the pair will soon fall back to the 102 level.
Gareth Berry, FX Strategist at UBS Investment Bank, says the pullback in the dollar-yen trade on Tuesday boils down to profit-taking and will most likely be short-term.

Calm down, sifus sekalian, I don't have a detail plan yet, nor made reservation/check availability. Plan-plan only. The objective is to (from Nagoya) visit Magome and then Noto Peninsula, that’s it.
Bus or train is interchangeable, whichever is available or less-confusing. So many buses and trains I have to take, I think in the end I have to get JR Pass.
3rd Oct – Touchdown at Chubu, Nagoya 13th Oct – Fly out from Chubu, Nagoya
Days not fixed (haven’t book accommodation) Transport wishful thinking (haven’t check availability)
Early plan only, ya. Calm down everyone.. Of course will go into detail more after this. For now I have only read japan-guide.com
I only have 1 months left to research. Hopefully I’ll make it in time, otherwise…

It was different from Normal Romance Car which going to Hakone. Going Gotemba was Odakyu Limited Express ''Asagiri'' The special one was going Hakone. while other romance car just very normal only.
The flagship 50000 series VSE << This is the special one
Odakyu Company classified all express train as Romance Car while JR classified express train as ''limited Express''

Impressive. But got one main issue you didn't plan. Those area are high risk landslide area. Going those area need very precise backup plan.
Last Year Kiso Fukushima to Narai was out of operation due to landslide .

My main issue is I haven't even check if all this is possible, accommodation-wise.
Push comes to shove, maybe I'll get a sleeping bag to sleep on the street, or a tent to camp by the highway.. I know its illegal, but as long as there's no robbers or murderers...

Police will come chase you away. No kidding.
Once you got police record. You can say bye bye to Japan forever.

It was different from Normal Romance Car which going to Hakone. Going Gotemba was Odakyu Limited Express ''Asagiri'' The special one was going Hakone. while other romance car just very normal only.
The flagship 50000 series VSE << This is the special one Odakyu Company classified all express train as Romance Car while JR classified express train as ''limited Express''
wow they sure are confusing! thanks for the input! I understand now

I'm flying into Tokyo then flying out of Osaka, so I save a day journey there, no need to return via Tokyo. Disneysea should be in Osaka, right. Then you can skip Kobe. If you are bringing kids, I guess you can skip shirakawa-go. You should just go Kyoto and Osaka. This two places is only like 40minutes apart by train
i have a connection flight at 2 diff airports, i will be arrive at Narita at 8:45 am and my next flight is 11:30am at Haneda. Do you think i can make it in time?

If you have no check-in baggage, and 1st flight no delay, should be ok. look up the time schedule at hyperdia. The earliest train schedule you can catch is 9.24am and reaches Haneda airport at 10.57am. Wow, that leaves you like 30minutes to catch the next flight....
