That is a really good rate for Japan! It was RM32.20 for 1000 yen in April this year when I went.Travel Travel To Japan V5, Discover Japan start here

QUOTE(michlove @ Aug 26 2014, 03:38 PM) wow, difference a lot hor...actually this few weeks I also got see the rate and it's always above 31.4. then suddenly today I see 30.9 wor. I quickly change 2k first. tonight I go change another 3k. From my observation earlier this year I realize the rate is always better on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I couldn't exchange the currency on those days as I have work commitments. Bringing 5k for 10 days only for makan and little bit shopping enuf mah? My transport, i'll be buying JR pass. Then hotel, 'look' card ^^ As for the budget, I am very much a backpacker so I survived with only 1.5K for 6 days but I had free accommodation (as my colleague was working there at that time) and 2-3 free meals. Of course with my limited budget (and time) I couldn't afford to go on the shinkansen so I only covered Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto. |

QUOTE(michlove @ Aug 29 2014, 11:56 AM) I'm flying into Tokyo then flying out of Osaka, so I save a day journey there, no need to return via Tokyo. Disneysea should be in Osaka, right. Then you can skip Kobe. If you are bringing kids, I guess you can skip shirakawa-go. You should just go Kyoto and Osaka. This two places is only like 40minutes apart by train Yup, Kyoto and Osaka are very near to one another so you should definitely include them in your itinerary. The highlight of my trip to Japan would be visiting the Fushimi Inari in Kyoto. Breathtaking view (Memoirs of Geisha was filmed there as well!) and it wasn't so hard to climb as it was all stairs. Also, Arashiyama is beautiful! Thumbs up for your itinerary. All these while I thought my itineraries were well planned until I saw yours |

QUOTE(zstan @ Sep 30 2014, 09:36 PM) Pokemon Centre, Daimaru Umeda Building, Osaka I miss this place! Went there twice in a trip just to relive my childhood As a Pokemon fan since the game was release donkey years ago, I had always wanted to visit the real deal in Japan. As soon as I found out there's actually Pokemon Centre which sells all the Pokemon merchandises in Osaka I immediately set as a must visit place despite my cramped schedule. DSC07983 by zstan, on FlickrFrom Umeda Sky Building we then walked back to the train station area and headed for Daimaru Umeda Store. The Pokemon Centre is located on the 13th floor with Uniqlo as one of it neighbours as well. There is already a huge crowd in the shop, probably due to the fact that it's on a weekend, with kids being the majority in numbers here (obviously). DSC07997 by zstan, on FlickrIt was really exciting to see all the merchandises and stuff which can never be seen back in Malaysia. They even opened up a booth in the store for the kids to try out the new Pokemon X and Y, and boy was the queue to play the game for about 10 minutes crazily long. DSC07984 by zstan, on FlickrInitially I thought I could get some toys back as souvenirs but one look at the price tag changed my mind immediately. The merchandises are here are actually quite expensive, especially after factoring in the conversion rate. It is simply not worth it for a general fan like me. Probably hard core Pokemon fanatics would probably buy one or two home. Having said that I must say the quality of each product is exceptional and worthy if you have the extra cash to spend. DSC07990 by zstan, on Flickr DSC07991 by zstan, on FlickrAll in all although I didn't buy anything it's quite a good experience to actually see a Pokemon centre and all the lovely Pokemon figurines. Only regret was not trying out the Pokemon X & Y on display. Childhood dream fulfilled! QUOTE(vercingetorix @ Nov 7 2014, 04:56 PM) I survived one week in Japan with only RM1.5K, but I could manage only because my accommodation was free. Food and transportation in Japan is expensive so make sure you plan your budget properly. |
