Hi can I ask if I go to Osaka and use credit card to withdraw money as cash advance, how much difference on the fees and exchange rate as compared to bringing RM to change to JPY ?
You can but credit card cash advance is practically the worst way to get money. Much better to use ATM to withdraw instead. Seven bank ATM (i.e. in 7-11) should accept your ATM card as long as got cirrus, etc.

Hi,

I think you are wasting too much time in the last few days.
Be prepared that Magome and Tsumago have nothing much to see, less than 1 hour in each place and you are done.
The Kanazawa famous Garden is over-rated, no need to go if you have seen any other garden in Kyoto.
Nagoya also nothing much to see other than the Grand big Temple, nice.
Why you need bus in Takayama ? It's small and nice to walk everywhere.
If I will you, I will cramp in more places to get my money's worth.
*
Thanks.

I want to take a calmer pace, not craming many many places. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. So the journey is, and the wasting time is, an enjoyable time for me.

Besides, after Noto I have no target anyway. I just want to go to Magome and Noto, Takayama & Kanazawa is just extra, I'm not even that interested.

But I'll take your advice, I'll take a second look at everything before I make accommodations bookings.

I know what you mean. The journey, sitting in the train, admiring nature is also what I like.Sometimes its the unexpected, the uplanned that happen which makes the trip much more worthwhile. Most of the trip in Japan that I have is really the unplanned trip. Woke up during a weekend, decide to take a train to XXXX. Then just walked around and explore. Of course if there is nothing exciting, be prepare for an earful from the other half!

I'm flying into Tokyo then flying out of Osaka, so I save a day journey there, no need to return via Tokyo. Disneysea should be in Osaka, right. Then you can skip Kobe. If you are bringing kids, I guess you can skip shirakawa-go. You should just go Kyoto and Osaka. This two places is only like 40minutes apart by train
*
Yup, Kyoto and Osaka are very near to one another so you should definitely include them in your itinerary. The highlight of my trip to Japan would be visiting the Fushimi Inari in Kyoto. Breathtaking view (Memoirs of Geisha was filmed there as well!) and it wasn't so hard to climb as it was all stairs. Also, Arashiyama is beautiful!

Thumbs up for your itinerary. All these while I thought my itineraries were well planned until I saw yours smile.gif

I'm actually not worried, I still plan to go if they don't wanna go but going with friends on holiday are more fun. But just want to convince to them, just because there's radiation there, doesn't mean we have to boycott it  sweat.gif
*
Radiation fears is unfounded, even in Tokyo.

If they are still unconvinced, you may travel alone biggrin.gif
