ah,
thanks for the info.
No wonder those Watches in Japan is way expensive than here ..  sweat.gif

For Casio, even in Japan, their factory are seperated to normal factory and premmium production line in yamagata. There are quite a number of models that you dont really get in Malaysia, and of course some limited edition which is even hard to get in Japan. Another casio model I like is Protrek. Not sure if its being sold in Malaysia though.

Is it? But when I search yoodobashi website the model that I'm looking they are selling RM300 cheaper to compare with Malaysia..
*
Thats possible. Have a friend who actually bought a few gshock here and says its cheaper and newer version as well compare to Malaysia. At yodobashi, if you are a tourist, you dont need to pay the 8%tax if its more than 10,000yen.

Bro..I'm referring to this Yodobashi website here -->  ¥ 49,050

That's why now so confused!  rclxub.gif
*
Normally Yodobashi price are cheaper than normal price. There is one website kakaku.com that actually list out which shops sell the cheapest. Of course if you were to buy a watch, its better to go to the shop to look at the real thing. You can even bargain with them to give you some discount. In Bic Camera besides the 8% of the consumption tax, you get another 5% off if you were to use Visa card.

When we buy those packed bento at convenience store, do we need to microwave them? I plan to buy and eat it later, if I microwave it there, it will be too hot to carry biggrin.gif
*
You can eat it wihout needing to microwave them. If you plan to eat it after two hour after buying no point to microwave it as it will be cold again. Its better to just buy, microwave and eat on the spot.

Calling those can that read Japanese. Google translator kinda messed up the meaning.

Opening hours for a restaurant:
平日12:00~15:00、17:00~25:00
土曜・祝前日:12:00~25:00

Google translator:
12:00 to 25:00 on weekdays 15:00,17:00 ~
12:00 to 25:00: Saturdays, day before holiday

On saturday. will it continue to open until 1am (25pm) or there is a break in between (12pm-3pm, 5pm-1am)?
*
Google is sort of correct.
Weekdays: 12:00-15:00, 17:00 -1am.
It opens from 12 to 1am without any break on Saturday or the day before a public holiday.

hi all...
wanna ask, how to get refund of sales tax when we make purchase?? any idea??
*
Depends on the shop. Some will just charge you the actual amount minus the 8%, while some allows you to "kumpul" all your receipt and get refund at the shop itself. Please note not all shops allows refund and to get refund you need to spend 10,000yen above in the same shop/day.

i wanna buy gunpla at 3floors and and eva pg at 2floors (same company, different cashier)
tried to mix the receipt, they dont allow... all must in 1 receipt sweat.gif
lucky i nego with the manager before i proceed... else alot of trouble tongue.gif

so i confirm... cannot mix receipt for sales tax deduction
---

not all items can get tax free

dont worry most of japanese shop will show the big big sign at cashier counter
u got mine 10k yen in 1receipt, show passport... and instant get deduction
*
Oh mix receipt here I means from the same shop. Like Tokyu Hands they got so many floors in Shinjuku. You can "kumpul" all and pay in one shot. If you did not and pay in seperate floor then you can combine. Of course its always good to ask the shop. My friend came over recently and went to shop in Adidas Shibuya and immediately minus off the 8%. The problem here means she have to buy more!! Initially her total was about 8000yen incld tax. As she want to get the tax refund, she shop until its more than 10,000yen.

First time to Japan.
Arriving at Haneda Airport 19-Oct 10.30pm.

My hotel is walking distance from TCAT (Tokyo City Air Terminal).
Is the airport limo bus service operating from airport to TCAT 24 hours (just that midnight to 5am is double) ?

If not, my next option will be by taxi to hotel (google map gave me 18kms distance)

Thanks for guidance.
Good news on sales tax?

Hi bro,

I saw the same page earlier and was confused.
It says there will be night bus at 1640y and operating 0000 to 0459. But the timetable not showing.
However, i believed in sifu rc .

Last bus 0015 i suspect is bus departing from tcat.
*
Not sure what is so confusing.
What is shown in the website is correct and 00:15 is between 0000 and 0459.

Summer is very hot here, but its has been raining whole of this week and weather was quite OK. About 25C. As someone mention, weather is crazy now and can never predict when it will be cold or hot

Thanks.

I want to take a calmer pace, not craming many many places. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. So the journey is, and the wasting time is, an enjoyable time for me.

Besides, after Noto I have no target anyway. I just want to go to Magome and Noto, Takayama & Kanazawa is just extra, I'm not even that interested.

But I'll take your advice, I'll take a second look at everything before I make accommodations bookings.
*
I know what you mean. The journey, sitting in the train, admiring nature is also what I like.Sometimes its the unexpected, the uplanned that happen which makes the trip much more worthwhile. Most of the trip in Japan that I have is really the unplanned trip. Woke up during a weekend, decide to take a train to XXXX. Then just walked around and explore. Of course if there is nothing exciting, be prepare for an earful from the other half!

1 question. Am already here in Tokyo, staying near Aoyama Dori, about 10 minutes walk from Shibuya crossing. Any idea if there's any supermarket here? I'm trying to look for one to buy things like eggs, oil, rice and the likes. No luck so far with Lawson, 7e and Family Mart around here and near Shibuya station, they don't seem to be carrying them.
*
There should be quite a number of shopping complex near your place. If not, then near Shibuya crossing, they have just open an underground shopping area....just cant get the name in my head. There is a supermarket there though things are a bit more expensive. Why not ask the hotel receptionist?

it's a matter of cost vs usage
if you don't need to share the access, a traveller data sim would usually work out to be cheaper
*
Seeing that so many people wanted some data package maybe I should start to rent out my spare mobile wifi. smile.gif

RegendCid, I'm going on 8th Jan - 17th Jan. Japan very cold too at this period? Tokyo?
*
Well really depends. Last year during that time there were really heavy snow that causes havoc to the public transport. I would say it will be about 5-10C depending on the time of day.

and i am surprise JR pass is sooo expensive? more expensive then my airticket shocking.gif
*
The public transport was also "told" there wont be any big snow storm in Tokyo. In the end it came and they were not prepared for it. So yes, Tokyo very seldom have heavy snow, but with global warming, who knows.

Question regarding the 3 days Tokyo Metro pass.

When buying the pass, it will be activated at the first use or activate by date?

Example, i buy today, start using tomorrow and expire 3 days later.

or i buy today, use or dont use, will expire day after tomorrow?
Else, if it activate on the first use , can buy more and keep for later usage.
Hope can clarity.

Thanks

Clock starts ticking after your first use and not when you buy it.

Hi quick question, anyone know if I can get away with renting a car without an International Driver's license, or I must have one before I can rent a car in Japan?
*
Dont think you can. If you did and involve in accident, you will be in big trouble as insurance will not pay and will cost much more than the cost of your international license.

Tokyo was hit quite badly. Quite a number of train stopped. I just sat at home, Monday morning, waiting for the storm to pass. Sun came out about 12pm and it was really hot....then dress up and leave for work. Another one is coming this weekend as well.....
