I was just about to post this topic also ... is it really 1 sen per sms to EVERY hotlink/maxis number and only 5 sen per sms to other operators? Coz then my Activ10 will be meaningless right?

Sadly, it's 30 secs per block. But still, it's better than the previous rates rclxms.gif

I thought it is standardised to be 30 seconds per block. DiGi is using 30 seconds per block too. smile.gif
The 60 seconds per block is sucking blood like hell.

Yeah, I was wondering too. Should be good news to have 30 seconds/block right?
It is standardised... Unless, you guys want something like U-Mobile, 1 second/block.

Hotlink used to have Hotlink zones whereby students in selected universities can get cheap call rate.
With this new Hotlink Youth Club, it doesn't matter now because both in campus and off campus = everywhere is having one flat rate.

Yeah, the only advantages D' Campus are having is the free unlimited call within campus zone and unlimited data line for RM 30/month.
U.O.X. is not having the cheapest rate already.
Hopefully with Hotlink's latest plan can generate more competitions to other telcos to benefit all the users. biggrin.gif

I believe Maxis is aware that most of its teenage users are using Hotlink prepaid and quite a number of them have migrated to other telcos. Finally, they saw that. Good. thumbup.gif

im thinking to create this topic this morning, but feel so lazy to copy paste the screenshot, the rates, etc lol.. so just let other user make it haha..

by the way, maxis is truly desperate now.. finally they have no choice but to sacrifice some portion of their huge profit. and we as the consumer dont care about wether they desperate or not, as long as we can get cheaper rates..

so, do u think digi will respon back by introducing the much more lower rates (such as 4sen/sms inter operator?).. this is crazy man, i dont know what to say haha..

but the target user for youth club is small.. its only targeted to selected university student (student card is required to register), and its valid for 4 years only (am i rite?), while celcom uox/sox is targeted to 13 to 25 years old teenager.. anyone below 26 can register (only mykad is required)..

pity to those who didnot have a chance to study in university, who just stop studying after spm, or just continue studying at small collegue, etc..

this is nature law.. sometime we at the top, sometime at the bottom.. if you want to be at top only, u can swicth back lol..

note: im sure digi will revise their campus plan. because currently digi campus plan is not attractive anymore compare with celcom uox and hotlink youth club. if the blue and red duck already leave the yellow duck behind, do u think the yellow duck will simply ignore it? it will swim faster soon, trust me haha..

just wait..soon celcom will lower their rate too ..im using both celcom and maxis
*
i dont think so, UOX is already cheap.. if they want to lower their rate, they have to go below 5sen/sms for off-net sms which is impossible. 6sen/sms is almost 0sen profit, and maxis offer 5sen mean they help user to pay (subsidised) 0.xx sen to the receipient operator for every off-net (inter-operator) sms, and they can do so because the gain huge profit from high volume of the on-net sms..

compare to celcom/digi which has lower volume of on-net sms because their customer is not much as maxis.

and also if Celcom just reduce the price by 1 sen, is not practical and wont giving much benefit for them as well as to the user too.. they also need to re-print all the browser, the starterpack, re-advertising, etc..

but for other charge such as on-net call it still can be revise.. maybe celcom can offer 10sen call to all celcom number, and 5sen call with 8pax.

Maybe they lost too much prepaid subscriber so they need find a way to get back their users

- only open to student from selected university (celcom uox/sox open to all below 26, no matter if you're only finished studying primary school only hehe)

- only can enjoy this rates for 4 years (celcom uox/sox can enjoy as long as you're still below 26 years old

- no free call/sms (digi dcampus offer free after hit certain usage everyday)

- no special data plan (digi dcampus offer unlimited data at rm30 per month, while celcom uox/sox offer weekly unlimited rm20 and daily unlimited rm6)

- bad network service quality (too subjective to be discussed, but i heard a lot of complains recently)

- careline is not free (celcom and digi offer free careline)

- no special plan if upgrade to postpaid after this (digi dcampus offer special graduate postpaid plan)

but, whatever the downside is, the cheap call and sms rates still will be the main attractive point for Hotlink Youth Club hehe.. sweat.gif

From the chart is shows you still need to top up a minimum of RM 10/year to enjoy the validity. smile.gif

rm10/year is okay.. but if you reload less than rm10 per year hmm.gif .. erm maybe you should not use handphone at all.. sweat.gif

bro, plz change it in the 1st post also...
and are u now being charged with that new rates ?

The only flaw I believe is the minimum RM 10/year to continue enjoying the free 4 years validity. Still, RM 10 is cheap. biggrin.gif
I think they use the sucked money from normal Hotlink prepaid package to cover these expenses. tongue.gif

its true, i mean its quite harsh for other youth...maybe the name should be hotlink university club, instead of youth...

- only can enjoy this rates for 4 years (celcom uox/sox can enjoy as long as you're still below 26 years old

but if the person is above 25 and still studying in U, then it should be better than uox imo...

all in all, now they give the best rates in town! slightly better than uox, and much, much better than dcampus.

I'm sure it doesn't matter if you are a university student or not, if you have previously registered for Hotlink Campus Zone then it will be automatically converted to this plan. As easy as that.

hello ppl are not that stupid. The university card and IC doesnt match means not valid. It need match the IC same name with UNI card
Thats what happen to Celcom UOX last time. Now they already protect themselves to check IC and Student card together

Yes, you can because I was a Maxis and Hotlink user.
Maxis to Hotlink to Maxis and lastly back to Hotlink.
But I need to use 6 months of postpaid before changing back to prepaid. Yes, it is free of charge and can get RM 10.00 credit too.

I think Maxis postpaid is having acceptable rate. The normal Hotlink prepaid users are still striving with expensive call rate. RM 0.33/minute but with 60 seconds/block.
This plan is only for existing campus zone users and newly registered users but must be university students.

Its a simple logic why they more focus for prepaid users....

For postpaid, we use their services first and then pay one month later ( more or less)

But for the prepaid, we must fork our own money first before using their services.

Thats also the reason nowaday they got the "offer" like "buy RM10 credit time only for RM5".....

that is kinda incorrect. Sorry ya. They add 4 years on top of your current expiry of your validity.

Example i subscribe to hotlink 365 it expires in august 2009. So they added 4 years from that expiry. So for who that expires in 2014 because their validity should originally expire next year.

meaning that u will still enjoy the special rate either u r in campus area or outside campus area..coz last time the hotlink campus zone gave privilage to campus students enjoy the special rate only when they are in campus area but when they go outside campus area the rate will be as normal. now you can enjoy both doesnt matter in campus or outside campus area biggrin.gif

my guess, if the validity 4 years mean you can enjoy it for 4 years.. furthermore, normally 4 years is required to completed any degree course in the university..

hey, suddently hotlink gain majority support back haha.. it so easy to gain support, just give some goodies to the people..

note: i still loyal to my UOX.

My housemate isn't a campus zone user and plans to switch her Hotlink to DiGi tomorrow. Since Hotlink has this good plan, I think it is more suitable for her to stay with Hotlink.

Anyone care to tell me on the process to get it registered? Much appreciated. biggrin.gif

Registration can only be done at selected dealers nationwide. Lookout for Hotlink dealers that displays the Hotlink Youth Club banner & bunting next week.

Registration is also simple. Just produce your student ID and IC to either buy a new Youth Club simpack, migrate your existing Hotlink Plan to Youth Club or port-in from other network.

The voice rates are 12 cents for maxis to maxis and 15 cents to other network and its on 30 seconds block! SMS is 1 cents & 5 cents.

There's no more zones meaning you can enjoy the rates anywhere you are and upon signing up, you have 4 years of validity. If I'm not mistaken, to maintain the perks you only need to top up a minimum of RM10 a year! Cool eh?

Added on April 3, 2009, 1:01 amBtw, it's open to all college or university students. As long as you are a student above 18 years old, have valid student ID, you are eligible. Let's say that after the 4 years period and for unlucky reasons you are still studying, you can re-register under the plan and get another 4 years validity!

And there's more rewards and freebies in store. I heard that they will have some roadshows at selected campuses nationwide soon.

Yes not all campuses have appointed dealers inside but they are trying to maximize reach by appointing dealers within the campuses vicinity. The best bet is to go to the nearest big campuses area, for sure you'll see one nearby.

the only downside as follows

- no special plan if upgrade to postpaid after this (digi dcampus offer special graduate postpaid plan)
but, whatever the downside is, the cheap call and sms rates still will be the main attractive point for Hotlink Youth Club hehe..  sweat.gif

Added on April 1, 2009, 3:59 pm
rm10/year is okay.. but if you reload less than rm10 per year  hmm.gif .. erm maybe you should not use handphone at all..  sweat.gif
*
I'm a user for both UOX and Hotlink Youth Club! I'm utilizing the feature of sms-ing celcom number for 1 sen (using UOX) and sms-ing maxis/hotlink numbers for 1 sen (using Youth Club).

UOX is slightly expensive if you compare both. Just slight, not much.

But, Celcom is more generous because they keep on announcing surprise bonus for topup on certain days on the month in the newspapers.
(Top up RM 30 get RM10)
(Top up RM 50 get RM20)
(Top up RM 100 get RM50)
hotlink has that too, but not as generous as celcom...

But i'm using both, I have no complain! hehe icon_rolleyes.gif rclxms.gif cool.gif whistling.gif

Looks like a great time to port out from Happy. Another money saving plan. Does port in number supported for this youth club?

just remember no matter wat option you want.

1) U need to be using hotlink or apply for brand new one
2) U need to have a valid student card for verification.

just top up RM10 first once you register this hotlink youth club line. hotlink site said there's a promotion for hotlink mid this coming week.

Maybe top up bonus? Who knows! rclxms.gif

why dont u just try directly register ur number (which is under ur fren's name) using ur student card, without changing the ownership.
maybe hotlink wont care about the ownership, as long as 1 valid student id is only for 2 numbers, regardless ownership.

Mr spammer u think it do not cause any harm because ure spamming for postcount. Imagine this u give misleading information then the person listen to you then if its wrong it cause misunderstand and time+trouble.
If you share something truth and right then it helps the person alot. Facts do not have maybe its either YES OR NO.

i dunno man.. i for one wouldn't wanna be put in a shitty situation where the hotlink staffs ask me 'my' course related questions when i wasn't even studying there.

you can always do your homework first in case hotlink is gonna call you. just prepare the basic info of what you do in college.

they wont blacklist you, for god sake. you're a client! They want your money

For MMU Melaka students, a HYC roadshow is ongoing at in front of Ixora food court. I'm not sure how much is the SIM pack or plan conversion can be done there. Check it out yourself. smile.gif

I must say Hotlink is not as aggressive as what DiGi has done to its D' Campus plan in MMU Melaka. Almost everywhere we can see yellow shirt people but this time only few red shirt people are walking around. They don't look interested to sell their product. sweat.gif Since most MMU students have D' Campus as their secondary line, most of them just showed a "no" sign to these HYC promoters.

Well, three telcos are kinda distributed quite evenly in MMU, of course Maxis and DiGi are leader. Yeah, we are TM university but all lecturers are given Celcom lines... Kind of minority of students using Celcom.

The problem is whenever the Hotlink promoters approach them, they straight show a decline sign. sweat.gif
I think that's the reason these promoters are not motivated to promote HYC. laugh.gif

just went to register with the dealer at my uni area.
surprisingly, the shop person told me..
'u want to buy a new pack or not?'
'if u buy a new pack, u can straight away enjoy for 4 years low rates'
'if not(means use the existing hotlink number), u can only enjoy the low rates for ONE year'
anyone can justify this?
confused as the hotlink website stated all can enjoy it for 4 years...

Those who are living or studying at/near Subang Taylors, Inti, Metropolitan etc can get their HYC registration at Asia Cafe tomorrow! There's a Maxis dealer inside and the promo would be there.

In fact any students above 18 with valid student ID can come and register. Btw, even if you just migrate from normal hotlink plan to HYC, once activated you'll get the 4 years validity.

Can anyone confirm on the issue that 1 person can register 2 numbers? My sister's number is registered under my name so if that is possible, the hassle of going to maxis centre to transfer ownership is not required.

I'd prefer free airtime instead of stupid t-shirt, cap or bag that I won't even bother to use at all.

really? i prefer tshirt, cap, or bag since its exlusive and i cannot buy anywhere, so i feel it is much more special.. tongue.gif i also might not using it, but keep it as my collection..

instead of free airtime that i can buy anywhere, and simply finished it up in couple of days lol..

unless they're giving airtime value of rm100 or rm200 and above then can be cosidered (although i actually still prefer exclusive merchandise)

You can convert to prepaid and then convert to this plan i guess. But you must be a postpaid user of more than 6 months.

how abt calling in from others operator?
say, calling from a DIGI line to my Hotlink link.
is it they are goin to charge for 15cents/min or they will be charged at a higher rate?
any1 has tried?

coz i afraid it would be like Happy, calling out is cheap but calling in is the entirely diff story.

Actually, the RM 3 I think we can complain to Maxis. This is because that particular shop think because we're student and we can't do anything.

If I were you, I will send an email to Maxis and c.c it to MCMC brows.gif

cougar richard, the sepcial rate is only applicable to those who are the members of youth hotlink club..Let say the call in from Digi, Celcom or bla bla bla operator...their charges will be based according to their current operator unless they are also having special rate like using UOX or any other special rate promotions..

i think i got confused wif Happy sim pack.
tot maybe they will play some trick like hidden charges.

coz when call out wif a Happy Sim pack is cheap, but then calling in from others operator, the rate is not same as wat they normally been charged. the rate is way greater than their normal call rate when calling a Happy number.

They did some mistakes there for UOX (operator C). Price shown is the price for between non-UOX. I made a correction there.

Call rate for U.O.X is 10sen per minute.
Sms rate between UOX is HALF sen (that is 1/2 sen)

UOX still the cheapest (for 8 person)

Youth club got no more activ10. everything is the same. One flat rate.

Maxis Youth Club = 4 Years validity. if start now, it will expired in 2013.
I use my UOX over 1 years already, and the expiry year is 2014.

Dont change blindly. Every promotion, there's a catch. rclxms.gif and im not a fanboy nod.gif

Weird, Hotlink Youth Club webpage now has this added when I point my mouse to "How to join" > "1. Existing Hotlink customer":

Hurry, limited period from
1 April to 1 May 2009

Does this means that after 1 May, all exisiting Hotlink customer can't convert and they are forced to purchase a new number?

bro 64bit, it means that after that period of time they wont be offering the HYC plan to us anymore.

Not that you must purchase a new number, the HYC plan will not be offered to anyone after May1.

Few questions I just ported to Hotlink prepaid:

Can i register this at maxis or only the participating outlets?
I can apply for this as long as I'm a Uni Student right or only selected Unis?

The website explains it too badly...
Oh btw, i think i got a normal Sim card which does not support 3G, will i be charged anything to get a 3g Sim? x.x
Thanks in advance~

You can check on Maxis' website whether 3G in Sibu area is covered or not.

Free 3G ? I never heard bout it before are you kidding? Internet rate on handphones is expensive, and with 3G speed you will end up paying more.

Hey bro MyKy44 , go check with maxis centre.

I went to maxis centre to ask about my HYC status, they say the person(my mom) who registered my line is different from the IC and student ID i gave, so they help me to change the owner of my line to my name. They told me I have to wait another 3 days to see whether successful or not. Hopefully it will be okay.

Yes, they change the ownership from my mom to me. In my case, they don't need my mom to be around. I am not that sure. The guy just did it for me and after that he told me to wait for another few more days.

Yes you are correct. I somehow passby the maxis center in asia cafe subang, so I tried to ask why my line hasn't been activated yet, and he helped me to check the status of it, found out that it has been rejected because of that problem i mentioned. Hope it can be done soon!

Usually promoters do not know about the application status. You need to contact maxis' staffs to know that.

You need to pay if you are not an existing hotlink user to get a new simpack. RM8.80. Either than that I can't of anything that need us to pay.
Anywhere it is the same, they do not require us to pay for the upgrading.

Nope, they don't hv such thing. I guess hotlink never thought of developing prepaid's data or internet usage.
For celcom prepaid, you can choose either RM6 per day or RM20 per week unlimited data.

The chart has obviously shown that only Extra Plan has the 25 cents/minute call. sweat.gif

HYC has nothing to do with it.

The chart has obviously shown that only Extra Plan has the 25 cents/minute call. sweat.gif

HYC has nothing to do with it.

can, but most likely you will be incurred a fee of rm50 to directly convert your postpaid line to prepaid

best option would be to port to another operators prepaid service, and then port back to hotlink then activate HYC. definitely wont have the rm50 charge biggrin.gif

i think that maybe the staff tells u how to register online for MNP, ie from celcom or digi or umobile change to maxis line...
that can be found here -> http://www.maxis.com.my/mnp/join_1.asp

but if u r referring to hotlink youth club (HYC), then must register at participating dealers near ur place.
remember to bring together ur photocopied ic n student id....
the list of participating dealers can be found here -> http://www.hotlink.com.my/hotlink/youthclub/map/central.html

hope these helps

http://www.hotlink.com.my/hotlink/youthclub/faq.html
QUOTE
How can I subscribe to Hotlink Youth Club? How much will I be charged?

Existing Hotlink customers (Campus Zone subscriber)
No sweat! You are the privileged lot as we will move you to Hotlink Youth Club automatically for FREE on the day of launch and you will be informed upon successful move via SMS.
Note: With the launch of Hotlink Youth Club, Campus Zone service will no longer be available effective 25/05/09.

Existing Hotlink customer (non-Campus Zone / Hotlink Zone customer)
1) Present your valid Student ID to our dealers at participating dealer outlets or roadshows
2) Move your current plan to Hotlink Youth Club for FREE (note: Standard migration timeline of 7 working days apply)

nope..not yet...the validity still not in 2013

the problem is now already long holiday....my hometown is far from my registered campus dealer (UPM).....so must i go there or any nearest dealer will do (regardless the dealers are to cater different university) ?

but the FAQ is clearly stated that existing hotlink campus zone subscriber will be automatically switched to hotlink youth club.... so they shouldn't simply put there without the real action been taken.... haih...

I'm currently a Digi Postpaid user and trying to move to HYC and keep my old number.

I already gave my photostatted IC and Student ID to the person at the college's phone store. She just asked me to write down my 016 number on that paper. What's suppose to happen next? Do I just wait or what? =( It's been 6 days already.

Do we get a receipt from the shop after register with them to prove that we have registered?

So most shops will ask for rm10 right? Eventhough it is actually free.

depends on ur current credit validity... some have credit validity until next year, coz they use hotlink 365... so, if u apply for HYC, the period of 4 yrs starts from the expiry date of ur current credit....

No, as long as you have a valid student ID card.

QUOTE(kiddo17 @ May 2 2009, 02:11 AM)

*
That means every 30-second is considered as a block.
For this HYC case, example you call for only 10 seconds a.k.a. less than 30 seconds, then it is RM 0.12/2 = RM 0.06.
If you call for 40 seconds a.k.a. more than 30 seconds then it is RM 0.12.
If you call for 1 minute and 20 seconds, then it is RM 0.12+RM 0.06 = RM 0.18

Anything less than 30 seconds will be divided by 2, theoretically it is easier to count like this. smile.gif

For normal Hotlink pack, it is based on 60 seconds/block. That means full 1 minute call rate is charged from the first second itself. That means, once the recipient accepts the call, RM 0.33 is gone.

No problem. smile.gif

U.O.X. thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=784378
You may join into the discussion to understand more.

I believe HYC wins in term of SMS to other operators, other telcos university plans are charging at RM 0.06/SMS. U.O.X. is RM 0.06 not RM 0.05. smile.gif
Half cent is for only 8pax (must be U.O.X. users) and not all Celcom users. smile.gif
If it is Celcom then it is RM 0.01/SMS.

HYC has no age limit but you must possess a valid student ID card (college or university).
I don't think your sister is eligible but if you are eligible then you can help your sister on this, one ID card can do two conversions. Not sure if they have changed the policy, but my housemate did one for her and one for her younger sister.

Called Helpline just now and asked whether after the plan registration validity, I can still subscribe this Youth Club plan or nt..

What the operator says is that i got to go to Maxis Center to covert to prepaid.. then only they will check whether i'm eligible for this Youth Club or nt..

Faint.. rclxub.gif

Maxis Center will only be available at MOnday.. BUt i got to go back my college ler.. How to convert? Dang~~ vmad.gif
