I saw many members discuss about HSBC Global Support Executive position at Cyberjaya in this forum last time, but all the thread been deleted and can't retrieve back.

I am interested to apply for the position, HSBC still hiring people for this position?
Who to contact for this position?

Or maybe anyone working there now? Can provide me relevant information?
(They still hiring people? Who can i contact? How to contact, email, phone? .... )

Thanks. smile.gif

EDIT - 28 Feb 2010

I seldom online on forum nowadays. My apology as my response to your PM maybe very slow.

For your easy references, the following is the useful link on the job listing. Click on any of the position, it will list out the job descriptions and qualifications requirement and you may deposit your resume by clicking 'Apply Now'.

http://www.hsbcglobalresourcing.com/hotjobsall.aspx?ctry=MAL

EDIT - 27 April 2011

I still receiving numerous PMs asking to send your CV over to HR. I already provided the link above in order for you gentlemen and ladies to submit your CV for application. My apology not forwarding your CV anymore because it is much more easier for HR to process your job application this way as in my experience there are a lot of redundancy in application. Some of you have also posted some Q&A to me on the job and how would the interview like. I would not be able to disclose or share any session with you as it is depending on the interviewer and hiring manager.

I wish you best of luck in your future undertakings and starting your career with HSBC Global Resourcing.

I guess working anywhere also got politics. I go to office do my work and go home. Politics or what is just a matter you want to join the rest or die. For me I chose not to give a damn. What I concerned is at the end of the month I got my salary credited to my account blink.gif

So anyone interested may PM me. I will give necessary info and forward to HR if you want to apply for a job there.

It's not easy to find a job out there now

Minimum qualification is SPM and the salary is based on your qualification.

Work is based on shift allocated to you. If you are assigned to Asia Pacific business area, then you gotta work normal hours else it's depends on the business area you have been assigned to.

Anyone interested may drop me a PM. I will help to forward your resume to HR but again I need to stress that it's all up to the HR to call you for an interview.

I think they give a phone call to have a casual chat with you. At this point they try to gauge whether you are able to speak well. Try to do your best and they might call you for an interview.

Interested? You may PM me with your contact info. I will help you to forward your resume to HR thumbup.gif

Just asking, are these the people who work at the HSBC call centres? Because once I called the HSBC call centre (at the UK) to inform them of a change in my UK address, and it turned out that I was being put through to the call centre in Malaysia laugh.gif

The one in KL. The lady who answered the phone needed my home address (i.e. Malaysian address) and went 'Oh! Do you know that you're calling through to the call centre in KL?'. Only then did I realise that she had a Malaysian accent laugh.gif laugh.gif

one of my friend is the hr exec there. I may say, as a person heavily involved in this industry (call centre), hsbc has one of the best call centre in malaysia in terms of facilities. the benefits for staff also very good.

it's good to know that hsbc taking in fresh grads and even spm school leavers. Any job has it bits of politics and pressures, so faint-hearted need not apply for any job whatsoever.

if hsbc gse were there when I was looking for a job few years back, I would have signed up! good job bioweapon83...saving your company's recruitment advertising budget...hehehehe.

I just want to help people. Incentive or not is another matter. I might not enjoy much of the incentive as the person and me need to be there together to enjoy the full incentive.

Just put it this way as I just want to help our fellows forumer here whom hardly and having difficulty in finding job in todays competitive market smile.gif

Sorry for those who have pm me and I am unable to reply you as my pc has again put me out of action

Thank you preducer for helping me out answering some of the replies.

For those whom are interested, PM your HP number and email address straight away. It's will be easier.

I think I will just make a summary here based of number of PM I have received.

Min Qualification: SPM

Salary:Based on your qualification(If you have degree of course and logically you earn higher than a SPM holder)

Experience:Not necessary but it's good if you have some banking/financial/call center background or experience in some managerial position.
Well fresh graduate can join in the ship as who want to give the experience rite?

Working Hours:You may or may not get a 9am-6pm and Mon-Fri but it's definitely is five days a week and 9 hours per day or simply 45hours a week.

Working Location:Cyberjaya, Selangor

Transport:Provided throughtout the Klang Valley/Seremban/Nilai with pick-up points allocated strategically or you may drive but no transport allowances will be provided

Will keep posted.

So far 3 resumes received and 2 submitted 1 KIV till June smile.gif

Do not copy and paste from Jobstreet or what so ever. Please make some initiative as I am here to provide help as I could smile.gif

Thank you for your explainations.
Some parts are a bit outdated such as quaterly allowances which started on May 2006, allowances will be paid monthly basis.

BTW it's a place to start off as nowadays it's not easy to secure a job and not to deny I felt some politics heat but it's just a matter you wanna be part of it or you wanna let it haunt your mind. If it's haunting your mind then perharps the ppl has accomplished their mission by infecting you icon_rolleyes.gif It will happen everywhere. Trust me

working as authorizer is much much easier.....only one case i remembered that very well......the customer is in uk and wanted to sue X for not giving him a card while he is overseas few days here and there....we suggested for him to get a temporary card by visa but the credit limit is bound lower and he was mad...thus the authorizer had to speak with him and the manager in conference call....authorizer is defintely less stressful then customer service

ive work there almost a year as gse.....but u need to sacarfice a lot .no turning back....u get same pay, work public holiday including may day.weekends and odd hours...every 3 months u get allowance and it depends which dept u work in.in singapore and uk is diff.this is given also to prevent ppl from running elsewhere.if u r looking for prospect here is a good place but u need to do something extra to stand out among 2000 ppl.like in charge of charity event , r & r etc. and are u the emotional type? u wont like to be here.u get degraded and scoulded by customer nite and day...u have to pick a set amount of calls a day...and in a limited time...some customer like to drag calls and thus ur call quality is down and that will also determine long time of ur bonus.and if u r lucky u will get a compliment.worst is when they are rejected for their application for their card, they will scream and demand to know the reasons which are not suppose to be given.....but if u can manage to stand all this for a year; ill say u r preety good to work anywhere
*
Dun scare them la... not that bad.. Out of 100 calls, few of them are bad cust. I've got 1 cina Seremban call today, want to tfr 1.5k pounds to msia. Apalagi? Converse bahasa melayu la.. Cust also happy.. icon_rolleyes.gif

ok ok i think i have shown too much of the ugly side...but the good side their r & r are superb....charity events, show, award, game etc. makes life there more interesting and fresh....induction was the most memorable. I meet some friends there for 3 weeks and then they work other process but our relationship was so strong we feel like we know each other for so long....ppl there are more open. management are bottom to top.u can walk into ceo any time with interview preferably of course ahaha.mark eward was the best!!!

It depends which process you're in. Usually in the UK side, they always do lots of events. Well when I was in the US process, I had like little events coz we're not the main ones. Everyday I hear this last time, "Good Morning, I am calling from Auto Online. I would like to clarify....bla bla bla"

UK has a higher allowance compared to the other processes...if u work back end (nothing to deal directly wth customer) you dont have allowance i think...thats what i heard last time..good thing is you work mon-fri and normal working hours...but pay bracket lower and if you cant finish the work for the day you can choose to stay back but no overtime...

Well congrats to you Weileongz rclxms.gif

For back end processing, it's more up to the business unit itself and for mine, I enjoying a RM200 max perfomance bonus which depends if you make a lot of error then dont be suprise you wont get anything.

Transport is provided throught Klang Valley, Nilai and Seremban. It could be a bus, van or cab smile.gif

Nobody interested? No more PM coming to me already biggrin.gif

The former AMO for UK process is now in Taiwan Process as MO. Salute to her while I was working there. Now she's promoted and only 26 yrs old.

So it depends if you think you like talking to customers, then you can progress in that company.

^ depends on how u perform during the interview and test, they will assess you. if u get selected for call center, they will pay more compare to those who are doing backend processes.

they have bending systems.... pay depends on whatever bending u fall into.

its the right place to start for diploma holders, especially for those with communication, IT, HR, finance background...

however the job environment could be abit too tempting that many would consider twice before leaping...at times we gotta do wat we gotta do!

bioweapon83,

Im interested to know more about this job. Can u please tell me more about the benefit, salary, and most importantly the pros&cons.

They conduct the interview in cyberjaya do they? Do u have any advice on how and where to get a place to stay (preferably near the office) should they offer me the job.

Hi guys, I receive calls that I will go to Hsbc for second interview. How am I going to reach hsbc by using public transport?

They email me about this:
FROM PJ or KL : You can take LRT or KTM or Star LRT reach KL Sentral station, change the Train to PUTRA SENTRAL station (check with info counter), Take RAPID BUS No. 428 , 429. will pass by HSBC.

Is it correct? What's the meaning of changing the train to putra sentral station? Is it I have to use the ERL to go to that station, but I have checked the ERL is putrajaya station, so where's the PUtra Sentral station? Somemore the interview is about 930am.

Any other better idea? SO scare about this interview. T_T

Thanks.

My interview is on Monday morning. =)

Whoever has attended the interview, any guidelines? tongue.gif

I will be interviewed for this position for Taiwan side, there will be 3 shifts. Anyone know the time for the shift?

and between, where's the pick up point at klang valley?

Actually I apply this job through a working agency, so I have interviewed with the people in the agency and they called me to go for interview at hsbc. May I know the interview at this hsbc is considered the first or second interview?

Just now I went to the putra sentral to take the stupid rapidkl route map already.

@Spade, i'm staying at kepong.

Mr Chong interviewed me. He said there will be a pickup point at kepong. But he did not tell me where is it because it is only the first interview. There will be a second interview and including a conference call to hsbc taiwan 0.0

But, this GSE for taiwan will be starting on September lor. If I get other job offer I also dunno how. This job is nice, but somehow I also wish to get job that's related to my studies which is IT. Hate to make decision, when we have to choose something means that we have to give up other thing else. T_T

OPPS, I teruse my friend's account, rclxub.gif

Hi, legolego. No wonder im confused at first when "someone else" answer the question that i asked u.

I also would like to get a job that are related to IT, it seems most of us are IT grad. I take it u mean HSBC helpdesk job is by no means an IT related job even if we get "promoted" to level 2 or 3?

this hsbc gse is a job that is nothing to do with IT. But I also hope can start my career there and if get promoted then will be better too. Hope I will get a call for 2nd interview, I had made some stupid mistakes during the interview. cry.gif But even I have attended the 2nd interview doesn't mean I will get hire. cry.gif I think many people will apply this job and their qualification and talking skills are better than me.

Haha call me xiao jie pulak. sweat.gif

I think Malaysia Mandarin and Taiwannese Pu Tong Hua is the same lo. But for China people one will be difficult. They ask about how to write my chinese name, my family, my job experience, do I know about Taiwan, name one Taiwan star's name and how to write it in chinese, ask me whether I know hokkien and test my hokkien (but my hokkien is in beginner level cry.gif so I can only answer the 2 sentence out of 4). Today got fill in the Health Paper and Fact Sheet. But result will be released next week. cry.gif

Hope I will get lo. wink.gif

Hey, I'm an ex-staff... Was in HDPM between April 05- November 05... Reason for leaving: Had a better offer in my hometown..

Experience: HDPM is unique. You'd immediately feel 'at home' with the whole environment. You'd feel as though you're back in college... Well, at least the first 3 weeks of induction gave me that kind of feeling.. Once you're serving on the floor, it's no longer honeymoon. I was attached to XXX call centre... (rather not identify it)

Things I miss about HDPM:
1. Friends. Especially induction bathmates..
2. Waffles
3. Free Milo/Nescafe/carbonated drinks all day long!
4. 'KILL THE QUEUE'!!!! XXX call centre was initially doing rather bad, with overflowing calls queuing up, and SLA flashing RED most days... Heard it's doing better now..
5. Cancer Zone - Smoking is the best session during the 9 hours shift, and especially the marathon-smoking during 15 minutes break
6. The ride from KL Sentral to Cyberjaya in Bas Kilang!

And these are my thoughts about HDPM:
Pros:
1. FABULOUS starting ground for fresh graduates (if you don't mind getting paid the same as SPM leavers who has experience/retirees/homemakers who speaks good English)
2. It's a good training ground, to develop yourself as an EMPLOYEE, and as a person (I used to be HOT TEMPERED, but working in XXX call centre has somehow toned me down)
3. A good example of what a MNC is. You bump into your VP, and chit chat like friends. It's the little things that matters. HDPM's management doesn't create any gap/border between staff and also the management side.

Cons:
1. You'd most likely be working during Malaysian public holidays, and not get paid OT/Double/whatever (I hope this has changed)
2. You work 5 days a week, but your off days are not nescessarily on weekends (especially if you're in call centre). Worse still, the operation's management might just break your off days apart, instead of giving you 2 days back-to-back (for whatever justification they have).
3. Cyberjaya is not easily accessible if you don't have your own transport. If you miss your bus, be prepared to spend a bomb getting a taxi to HDPM/KLIA express.
4. The journey is too long from pick-up point to HDPM. (Well, at least for MOST of the pick-up-points). This means, even though you're working 8am-5.30pm, be prepared to wake up as early as 5.30/6, as you gotta be at the pick-up-point at least by 7am or else the driver would just leave you behind. By the time you finish work at 5.30pm, be prepared to get stuck in traffic jam, which would ultimately lead you into reaching home at 7-plus/8pm.. Yeah, you spend more than 12 hours of your time travelling+working.

Well, all in all it was a great 7 months for me in HDPM!! thumbup.gif

I apply for this position too.

The assessment is like this.

First, you will be given a written test which consists of article with questions and 3 questions about yourself. This written test have to be answered in chinese.

Then, interview lor, the interviewer interviewed me in english and mandarin language.

Hm, if you have gone through any industrial training, he will ask you lor. Also depends what's in your resume.

Then, he will ask why do you apply this job while it is nothing related to your studies, wat's the problem you may counter when you deal with taiwan customers etc. I dunno whether the questions will be the same or not for the candidates.

About the duration of the interview, depends lo. If you talk a lot and got many questions to ask, for sure the interview will be long. But it is good to ask them questions so that you can get a better understanding about the position.

They are friendly one. So don't worry laugh.gif

hey, is that position still available?
Is it only for Chinese speakers?

How about English or Japanese??

Do we have to be superb in that respective language?
While do we need to have written test?? Isnt it we will normally type the information into the computer instead of writting it to paper?

Well seems like you didnt get response from them or they might left you out. If you want me to find out for you, please PM me your full name, IC no, HP number and email. Perharps I can help you to find out from HR.

That recruitment day only held once a year and not a frequent event. Maybe you wait for another couple of month, I will assist you to submit your resume so that you can get another chance to interview.

I applied for GSE position (couldnt remember i first saw it on the star or jobstreet). Sent resume to email. Next day i faxed and just after 3 minutes, I got a call from someone asking me to give my ID Card number and then he asked me to go for an assessment on Thursday 14 Sept 2006. biggrin.gif
Went to HSBC in Cyberjaya. biggrin.gif
Started at 1pm. 8 persons were there. 4-4 male-female, all indians except me and a Malay lady. I reckoned most of em had cronies who had already worked there as they visited their friends who came for the assessment. sweat.gif
Was briefed about the building n job. THEN I REALISED ITS FOR UK PROCESS only as i thought the job was for worldwide task and was populated by a majority of Indians.
We were grouped into 4 groups of 2. I got paired with an Indian lady.
Assessed by two persons, a man and lady both were Indians. cry.gif
I was very and extremely nervous and my words that came outta my mouth represented my 'drunkness' and I was like babbling about stupid stuff and stuttering.
After the assessment, I was selected for an interview whereas my 'couple' during assessment wasnt chosen. tongue.gif
Was briefed a bit by the 'organiser' (a guy who guided us for the day from hr dept). He told me the assessors told him that I was quite ok with my accent (which sounds more like brit accent but the guy thought it was american - wot a far cry difference and he couldnt differentiate it), some grammar probs a bit but he said I was shy (I KNOW - SHYNESS KILLS!) while my 'couple' was not chosen due to lack of English proficiency.
I talked to my 'couple'. She said they asked her to go home and wait for another call for a 'lower' level/process - Asia Pacific or other after 2 weeks or so.
Interview started at 4.30pm. Was interviewed by two lovely ladies, Chinese and Indian from Quality department or something like that.
The interview process was more relaxed than the assessment.
The lady (Chinese as the Indian didnt talk but only smiled like 'senyum kerang') asked me wot time I prefer: 4pm-3am wed, thur, fri, sat / 4pm-1am / 6pm-5am sun, mon, tue, wed something like that and i picked 4pm-3am thinking that i could get leave on sunday.
Then I went back home.

Is there a huge chance of me getting hired? :
- I was shy (actually I was nervous more than being shy) during assessment.
+ I was asked of wot shift did i prefer
- I think i was the only outta 8 who was a hi skewl leaver
+ I have some experience
+ I think I had nice conversation with the interviewer.
- I think I talked a lil fast then the standard interview procedure
- Im 20yo afraid if they think im too young to take up the job

Do you guys think I should apply for another round or process? eg Asia Pacific? They said they would call within 10days to inform about my status... today is 18 September 2008 icon_question.gif cry.gif And the worse is I feel lil desperate about this job rclxub.gif

Hi all, i am new here. I am interested to apply for HSBC GSE position as well. I've heard of a department in there which is doing back end security transaction for hong kong hang seng exchange. Here are couple of questions i have in mind. hope someones in that department can help.

1)Is the starting basic salary RM1600 for a fresh grad? or more than that?

2)What are the allowances and bonuses given by HSBC in this position and how much? are they fixed?

3) If you know and can performe chinese typing, you are given extra RM100 allowance every month, is that true?

4)Do these allowances/bonuses start from the first month as well? If no, when?

5)May i know how big is the department? how many stuff are there in this particular department?

6) I am staying in kepong, may i know what time does the bus normally arrive here to pick up and to drop you off everyday?

7) What are the Things that they actually do inside? brief abit please..

Your replies are truely appreciated..thanks

OMG! Something creepy happened just now! A guy called me and said he was from HSBC, asking me whether I had taken an interview or not. I said 'yea, like ages ago. its something like this...

HSBC: How did u do during the interview?
Me: I think i did pretty bad cuz no one calls me at all.
HSBC: Well, congratulations. U got the job.
Me: OK. (confused) silent.
HSBC: U got the job.
Me: Oh yea? Well that sounds great.
HSBC: I hope you can start on next Monday - (hey newbuyer seems like were gonna b in a same induction lol)
Me: OMG, thats creepy cuz im still working and i expected a one-month notice as i had stated in the application form.
HSBC: Need answer today. Try to resign on the spot. Call me later on.
Me: Hmmm (thinks)... OK ill try wot i can do. (Damn ive got big project on Sunday in Shah Alam n suddenly ive gotta resign - kinda find it creepy to have sudden resignation isnt it?).

Anyone has been called on Monday? 6th Nov 2006.
---
latest development: as at 12.25pm

I called the guy to accept it n he was so happy that i join the club as if he were the guy who scams people w scratch n win programme lol and asked me how did i find way to resign n i sad i was still discussing it w my manager rclxms.gif
he said i gtg to the segara clinic somewhere in ampang park area before 4pm n give the result tomoz before 5pm n take the offer letter on friday.
My manager is arranging some sorta story so that i can go to the clinic lol thumbup.gif
i hope by the time people reading this, ive already gone through the med-checkup n pass it all lol rclxub.gif

today's report:
went to the appointed clinic after miles of travelling n finding cheap car park n drenched myself in the pouring rain vmad.gif
i arrived, and saw few people (apparently i was the last person to come) tongue.gif
filled in the forms, went to an xray clinic on another building...
soon after the xray was taken, my stomach began to feel sooooo painful (izzit normal? - first time taking an xray) drool.gif
i think im in danger position cuz i ticked something about my ome of my blood relative which is my grandpa of having diabetis shakehead.gif
tomoz ill send the medic letter to hsbc rclxms.gif
just wait n see whether i really get the job or its just a hoo haa hoo haa from the guy to me rclxub.gif

i gave my current managers number n my bros number in buenos aires.
my manager didnt tell me at all as to whether she received any call from hsbc or not cuz usually she would. n the guy who called me didnt ask me to provide any referral numbers at all biggrin.gif n i think i gave wrong number (my bros) to them tongue.gif but amazingly they didnt ask me to provide alternative numbers rclxms.gif

OMG, i think i might b considering for another interview (walk-in) as i think i have been rejected to b recruited last minute rclxub.gif
Cuz i met the guy who handled the medical checkup at 9am but he asked me to come back at 5pm. And when i came, all that happened was just: The guard asked me to hand in the medical letter n go home! vmad.gif
Why would the guy ask me to come back at 5pm cuz he said, itd b easier so that he can deal w me n go straight home cuz he finished work at 5pm but when i was there, he was nowhere to b found n i was told by the guard 'ok give it to me n u may go home now' shocking.gif
Seems like im not invited to the induction this Mon as ive got no offer letter at all cry.gif
Lucky i saw on the newspaper bout a walk-in interview this upcoming Fri, i think i should pay a 'visit' again to the place sweat.gif

Yea its true. some people get lower some people get higher depending on their grade. For example C8 or D7 might get 1.6k while D8 gets 1.8k something like that as example.
I know someone well from the HR Dept so if anyone wants to get the job in the fastest way, just email me or pm me or woteva to me their resume w digital photo attached in the resume itself. hahahaha

if the day u attend assessment is for UK process, then its only for the UK process. If you fail, they will call you (possibly) to attend the NZ process the next week or so on.

I know someone well from the HR Dept so if anyone wants to get the job in the fastest way, just email me or pm me or woteva to me their resume w digital photo attached in the resume itself. hahahaha

1500-1800 only.

Dont you think its a bit too low for a company like HSBC???? O.o

Even UTAR basic salary for a freshie degree also RM1820.

Just wonder how good their prospect is to attract people to join, unless you are jobless or desperate, ther

Hello. I have recently got a good job offer at an MNC. However, I did went for another interview for a PR company yesterday just to check it out.

The moment I stepped into the office, I already knew I didn't like working there. I didn't care anyway. OK, so the interview started.

I was bombarded not by tough questions but rather taunts that further justified me not wanting to work there. There were many mistakes that they made but I will list 3;

1) I was scheduled for an interview there but apparently, it was out of the list

2) There was supposed to be another interviewer sitting in just to assist but he didn't show up.

3) The office is big and beautiful but the environment is dead

The interviewer then asked me how many job applications and interviews I had, I told her 7 and named all the MNC companies that have considered me in a very assertive fashion.

I even questioned her about the working environment here and she mentioned "open door policy" and all but I told her, I don't see that. Anyway, I already have a job and in the future, I do not want to work there because they don't respect their candidates.

Overall, not a whole lot of difference from the other companies in Cyberjaya eg. Dell, DHL, etc.
Dell's transportation allowance is RM 300 I think, with 1 month contractual bonus though.

haha...was looking around for this thread but somehow cudnt..now it's back. good.
nowadays, hscbc cyberjaya (HDPM they called it generally) offers max rm1800 even if ur a degree holder with/without working experience. if without degree, it might be lower. some depts might have extra allowance ( max 300 IINM), some even dun have allowance at all. if ur in a call centre environment, that's wat u get, working like mad but get paid peanuts. when i left, i heard that they're gonna lower the qualification down to SPM level cos most of the resignations are degree holders (survey results from the long lists of resignations)...omos every day oso got resignations in HDPM. How come i know? cos i've been in & out the HR for the past 2 mths. l left for a happier working environment.

Actually banks are a very good place for progress provided if you are really resistant and determined to remain.

I have a friend who works for a bank. He started out as a junior accountant, had an extremely stressful work life.

He didn't quit though and after 2 years of working there, he applied for interest free loans, bought himself a condominium and a nice Camry. He is only 26.

So, work for a bank but be steadfast. Given the opportunity, I would also choose working for a bank.

hsbc cyberjaya is not directly under hsbc..they're just a 'subsidiary' of hsbc. so sad to say, u dun get to enjoy the banks' benefits.eg.. all the housing/car loans same goes to e2power, another subsidiary for ocbc..but the pay in e2power is higher compare to hdpm. unless ur rili despo or living somewhere near cyberjaya..wudn't recommend u to go there.

sounds like you got the short end of the deal.
back in the day... about 3 years ago, i worked in hdpm too.
i had 1/2 year sales experience (with the infamous COBRA/APPCO group), and i managed to get a basic salary of 2k at hdpm.
1 year later, i got a 300 ringgit pay increase and 7 month's worth of bonus.

however, during that year, it's true - the hiring standards got lower and lower.

my time was degree holders only.
then became diploma.
then stpm.

i'm pretty sure the salary offered commensurates with qualifications and work experience. as for the bonus, it's true to the contract - it is based on performance. shame to find out that the pay is so low for degree holders now though...

we only got to wear casual clothes on friday last time. other than that, it was slacks, shirt and tie. lol. didn't really make sense to us since we weren't exactly dealing with customers face to face.

oh and if you think 2 months of training is hell.... find out from the UK team. i believe some had to endure 3 - 4 months of classroom training.

on the bright side, for fresh grads, it's like college all over again - imagine, 4 months of "work" with full salary. what's so bad about that?

hsbc cyberjaya to me is more like a place for ppl to show-off their clothings, their accessories, which epl team u support...but work wise,  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif  because they dun have any work attire..u can wear wateva u want...but no revealing shirts, torn jeans..that's it..u can wear t-shirt & jeans to work eliday...which makes me wonder why was i there at the 1st place.. ok..now the work...i'm in the newly setup taiwan call centre..it sux..everything about it sux..from the mgmt til the work oso sux...no teamwork, all oso jaga their own a$$ in terms of work..u die, ur problem..they dun bother.. when it comes to employee survey time, that's the time u see those mgmt punya ugly faces trying to be nice to u once in a year..and u got shitloads of meetings & trainings...the entry level for this dept is 2 mths of training with test/exams every single farking day...passing mark must 80 and above...if failed, re-sit the test. talk about work eh??

oh and if you think 2 months of training is hell.... find out from the UK team. i believe some had to endure 3 - 4 months of classroom training.

on the bright side, for fresh grads, it's like college all over again - imagine, 4 months of "work" with full salary. what's so bad about that?

Yeah. What so bad about getting paid to learn?
I think its a pretty good deal for a freshie especially.

yeah yeah...4 months of work (training to be exact) with full salary eh?? imagine ur a freshie..u just got out from ur beloved uni/college/school....hope that u can get a decent job and mayb establish a career somewhere, hope that those exams' days will be gone for good. but wen u come to a company that requires u to go all over the uni/college/school life again ie. tests, exams, punishments, verbal warning, one-on-one sessions.. sounds familiar eh?? now, will u be able to endure the same process all over again?

OK, desperate person here, want to make some money for 5 - 6 months. So I have SPM and their center is cyberjaya, they provide any travel allowance or something? I want details, please. Because my next best alternative is to work in Hotels as a waiter.

By the way, just to confirm, the job is now called Telesales Exec. in the HSBC website , am I right?

Well I guess it all boils down to the person. If a person constantly likes to better himself/herself then definately yes to your last question.

Personally I am taking a job write now with constant and almost bottomless learning. Also I am enrolled in a few exams at the moment.

Dont you think its a bit too low for a company like HSBC???? O.o

Even UTAR basic salary for a freshie degree also RM1820.

Just wonder how good their prospect is to attract people to join, unless you are jobless or desperate, ther

salaries differs accordingly on paper qualifications and experience in most MNC companies.

be resonable, u cant be expecting a clerk to be paid rm3k juts becoz its a MNC company rite?!

what are your role/function there anyway?

Working at HSBC Data Processing Malaysia (HDPM) is death to your social life if you get UK or USA call departments. Those 2 are the largest departments so you'll most probably end up inside.

When it's night or public holiday in Malaysia, you are stuck at work. When you are not at work, your family and friends are stuck at work. It's a social death unless you count your office colleagues and friends on the net from overseas.

For UK, it's from 4PM till 1AM. For USA, it's around 7pm till 7am (not sure exactly) and adjusted to be later or earlier following daylight savings time. Basically you leave for work (UK) at 2PM and reach home around 2 AM. Nice timing right, to kill all hope for any kinda social activity after or before work.

About transport, HDPM has company buses to pick you up to and fro from work FOC. KL Sentral is one spot and there are many spots all throughout KL and Selangor and even Seremban. Ex-TARC students can use the bus stop at Taman Melawati (across the highway from Giant).

As for me, I got fired for being too slow & making mistakes while handling calls from UK. Technically, I resigned. laugh.gif Try not to end up in that department as it's the hardest department to be in. Target average time per call must be lower than 3 minutes and you'll be expected to make it lower & lower and you handle about 50-60 calls per day. Don't even get me started about the sales target. cry.gif

Oh yeah, you get breaks every 2 hours. During those 2 hours if you need to pee or drop a bomb, you need to insert the toilet code into the computer. At the end of the week, how much time you spend in toilet code will reflect badly on your job performance so you end up minimizing the drinking of water at work. Very healthy eh? Meanwhile, all drinks like coffee, milo and soft drinks are FOC from the drink vending machines.

sounds like you got the short end of the deal.
back in the day... about 3 years ago, i worked in hdpm too.
i had 1/2 year sales experience (with the infamous COBRA/APPCO group), and i managed to get a basic salary of 2k at hdpm.

May I know basically how many type of jobs available in HDPM? So far I only know there are call center, back end and data processing. What's back end and data processing do?

I was in the pioneer batch of US process AF Funding.

My job was data processing - i.e. We receive scanned documents of loan applications. The job just requires one to open all the corresponding documents and key the data into the system. Different pages requires different details to be keyed in. Very basic brain functions needed.

As for the bonus thing, I guess it was because I was doing my queue (at that time it was about 20 "deals" per day) and a little extra (helping team mates finish up if they cant finish their own work on time). I also did all the weekly and monthly AMO reports. I also created a couple of Excel sheets which were eventually used by my whole process (three teams) for TCS and other purposes.

I guess you could say that because of this, my AMO was overly favorable of me - he gave me an A for my first appraisal where my team's average appraisal was c- (minus) and also didn't record down 80% of my annual leave taken and MC taken! Hahaha!

I guess it pays to be a little bit more industrious than the rest of the pseudo-brain dead team mates who are just happy to do what they're given, and a little less.

It's easy to shine in HDPM. Financially speaking, it's worth it. Only because you've got nothing better to do there...
*
Is data processing kinda data entry job?
How bout back end?
Only call center has extra allowance, the rest all just basic salary only right?
Have to OT everyday in order to shine in the company?

How come the turn over of the company is very high? Mostly from call center department or others? hmm.gif

hi there...ur in Twn Call Ctr eh??

nowadays u'll go thru approx 1.5mths of training...eliday oso got tests/exams or wateva u wanna call it. u hv to pass the tests/exams eliday cos the marks will be sent to taiwan for 'evaluation' purposes on a daily basis.. passing mark is 80 and above.

after that stage, u'll be on the call floor edi..buddy-ing with the seniors there..i dun know the length of time for buddy-ing but after a short period of time, ur on ur own. all ur calls will be recorded & be given marks by the local soon-to-be-setup quality dept to evaluate all ur calls. (previously it was handle by taiwan people).

performance bonus?? fat hopes..highest performance bonus so far?? double digit nia...so...go figure..
shift work: 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm,9am-6pm,10am-7pm,11am-8pm,12noon-9pm,1pm-10pm,2pm-11pm,3pm-12am,4pm-1am and not to forget the nite shifts..
ur 'beloved' customers from taiwan?? they suck big time...they'll argue with u over every tiny little issue there...they will threaten to go to the press on wateva they feel is not good for them. they'll sue hsbc..they'll do this, they'll do that...imagine a country whereby senators can fight during menteri-menteri punya meeting...so....go figure urself..

need further info?? gud luck mate..

Are you sure you wanna join ? They have interviews everyday. At least 20 candidates per day. The trainers work non-stop. Orientation is on everyday... The L & D (Learning & Development) staff cannot even take a single day off.. totally cannot take annual leave. So what can u say about their turn over rate?

back end - if ure lucky during interview then u will get into their Centre of excellence department. e.g corporate actions..securities...good prospects (benefits e.g professional certs [company pay everything] and overseas training). IF NOT , u will end up some job like replying emails or some boring stuff.

call center - dealing with calls from uk , us , south east asia..depends which department u will get..(ask during interview)

they will provide aggressive training...study..study...tests ...exams..mostly around 1month...depends how fast u learn..(no worries as it is a training so if do mistake is no prob at all.)
can ask them also whether u want to work in kl or not (for back end job i think)..they got placement there near bursa malaysia at bukit kewangan..

transportation provided..
allowance depends on which department u get in..different process different allowance...the more critical process...the more u'll get.
centre of excellence is their critical processes....accuracy is EVERYTHING..so u can imagine how tough it is.but its ok.after training sure no prob.hehe
read more example here -> http://www.hsbcnet.com/hsbc/transaction/hs...rities-services

the benefits will be more when u work there longer..
salary will double according with ur gred...e.g this gred u will get this salary..n then u promoted..ur salary double plus allowance bla bla..
work environment is good if youre friendly n kind to other people.
if youre stand out, visible and hardworking..u will get extra rewards..

if ure lucky u will get normal working hours...if not ..u will be BATMAN !! hahahahah
if u get into hong kong or taiwan department..its normal working hours...9am - 6pm..or 11am - 8pm ....(U WILL WORK ACCORDING TO YOUR DEPARTMENT CALENDAR ..meaning that if hong kong...follow hong kong public holidays..hong kong ok la ..got 13-14 days public hols...hong kong peak season is Nov..other month ok...if im not mistaken UK less than 10 days public hols i think...)

food/beverage - cafeteria is so so..but cyberjaya bus terminal got lot choices..n streetmall too. in office got vending machine..all drinks FOC..got foosball table.

basically we know which field we are interest with....choose the right field and build ur career path..
good luck!
check out the star jobs ....still have vacancies..for AVP, manager ....

any ques.PM me.
regards.

To choose a correct dept is your priority. To change dept or to have yourself for promotion, the minimum requirement is after 1 year of service. So U must choose carefully.. But if you are a chinese & you can speak chinese, you will most properly end up in taiwan call centre or now I think they have Hong Kong Call Centre oso. It is not easy to survive in call centre. Some cannot tahan the trainer (during training) will wait for the salary & leave... Some plan to try for 1 - 2 months, if beh tahan oso will also leave.. So those who stay are the excellent staff... U can learn a lot of stuff from them. The culture in HDPM is good. It is a great place to work if like it. But do bear in mind that, U work for 9 hrs a day (IN between u got 15 min break X 2 + 1 hr lunch break). The time u spend on the bus could be 2-3 hrs a day. Meaning ... U spend half of your day here. So when u get home, u have no more personal time. Unless U stay near lah.. so no problem... Try to negotiate a good pay that u wont regret.... & Good Luck!!!

well, im not chinese and cant speak mandarin/cantonese. And i'm going for the back end job cos i feel i'll be more comfortable there. Plus, for back end i have the option to work in KL (in Bursa KL building). But thanks for your advice dude. I might need more soon. I've already submitted my resume but stil waiting for interview.
