A full screen without the top and btm black bar is more attractive. Ip 8 is a small upgrade. Given the pricing different, X is the one to get.

for me, TouchID is the fastest and convenient way to unlock.
coz you can do so without need the camera facing you.
eg. unlock the phone the moment you put your hand in your pocket to take it out.

gotta see how it perform in total darkness as well, although it had infra red.

Gonna wait till it's released and messed around at any Machines center. See how. Obviously not gonna upgrade my 7+ to 8+, not much difference. Gotta go for iPhone X

Just read the official web, the items included in the box is the standard 5W adapter lol.

You need to buy separate adapter & cable in order to get fast charge. This are the same situation as the new IPad Pro line-up.

Yes, the design ought to be upgraded. At least have the X design. But with the glass at the back, it looks way sexier than before.

At this point, the changes for 6 to 6S is more than 7 to 8.
No effort in making the 8 as all effort is spent into the X, where Apple will sell millions.

Still prefer to use my fingerprint rather than my face for Apple Pay.
Imagine if I accidentally proceed with a payment and happened to be looking at my phone at the same time - how to cancel the payment? laugh.gif

Actually this is iphone 7s they rename on 8.
In the overall market will impact from iphone 7.
After few months can see all those reseller will throw their price on 7&7+.

If the home button still hard press without any soft touch like mi phone.
Stick with iPhone 7 much better deal.

1) touch ID - tap your phone to the credit card terminal, then scan fingerprint.

2) face ID - scan face, if authenticated, tap your phone to the credit card terminal.

Last time when I use android, yes I'm bother about battery capacity. Now jump to ios, seems no need already. Everything is fine.

I'm seriously thinking of going iOS way for my next phone..ip10 way off my budget but can stretch a bit for ip8. My question..with ip10 bezel less style the way forward for all future iphones, wouldn't it be pointless to still buy a costly 'soon to be obsolete iphones'? What do you think guys.

I'm seriously thinking of going iOS way for my next phone..ip10 way off my budget but can stretch a bit for ip8. My question..with ip10 bezel less style the way forward for all future iphones, wouldn't it be pointless to still buy a costly 'soon to be obsolete iphones'? What do you think guys.

IPX overpriced & Face ID Gen 1 have a lot of bugs, so go for IP8 is better. If money is not an issue then go for IPX.

8 still will selling good i believe, some people are upgrade from older gen iPhone like 6/6S, for me using 7, i see no reason for me getting 8 lol, just a processor upgrade, nth much... to pay another 3.7k (if so)

If you want to step into iOS, perhaps consider the 7 first if you don't want to splurge so much. Official price has dropped and some retailers might offer a promo soon which you might be able to get a 7 Plus for around 3k just like how the 6S Plus was at the beginning of the year.

Iphone basically is consider iphone 7, 2nd edition.
You guys should stick/stay with 7, either you're new iOS user to enjoy iPhone 8 new feature such as wireless charging, new processor, new color else.
I heard this come with better Dolby Vision sound output.
Other than that, iphone 7 or 8 is up to you.
But I was prefer iPhone 8 got new color biggrin.gif

All this while, iphones have been holding their value rather well thanks to only incremental changes of the preceding models. However, the new ip10 totally departed from that..I'm not a sucker for resale value but as buying iphone is a mini investment, i just have to ask.

From user experience on iPhone 6 & 6s is great phone, but still facted on battery life is a main issue.
Jump from 6s to 7 has longer battery life.
What if jump from 7 to 8?
8 has new color look with latest feature.
Again 7 still have market value, why not sell 7 go for 8!!!
If you're iwatch user already had wireless charged pad, could be share, its awesome

If price is really an issue, and you just want to try out how iOS is like, I can suggest a cost alternative way. Get an iPhone 6s/6s+

It is still powerful enough and smooth enough to enjoy the experience.

Buy now and then regret later. I'm leaning more towards iPhone 8 because iPhone X is over my budget.

If you seriously interested with iPhone 8 Plus then I suggest go for the premium iPhone X.

Because they're not release in the same date/month. So I will take the ip8+ first to play around. Testing their wireless charging and all first.

The drain issue might be battery degrading. My own opinion is that iPhone 6 still pretty good & everything is working.

Battery health will depend on your charging style. Mine after almost three years still have 83% charging capacity.
I always start charging my iPhone when it drop between 20% to 80%. Then once in a while I let it go down till under 10%. That's my practise since iPhone 4.

Yeah, the best is within 40%, we should start to charge until around 80~90% then stop. I agreed with your statement.

This is why I don't recommend you guys upgrade yet & wait for 2nd gen iPhone X.

changing home button outside will cause finger print touch ID not to work anymore. As, each unit touch ID is hard coded and tie to motherboard for security purposes.

If battery is the only concern then you do have the option to get a replacement battery. Since the iPhone 6 is probably out of warranty and has no water resistance, you can get it done at a third party shop for relatively cheap.

Only iPhone 7 will do long lasting battery life.
I am using my iPhone non stop.
Since start from early morning till night time 12am.
This is daily usage.

I personally don't like OLED & 1st batch always has a lot of bugs + easy to say that iPhone X is over my budget too.

Highly unlikely. Even Apple just add $50 extra on their iphones, it won't go beyond 3.6K.
They always follow the price with previous iphone. So my assumption is around RM3499 or below.

Also, to people who are buying from Australia, China, or Hong Kong: Be warned that the model number for sale in Malaysia (A1897/A1905) is different from the iPhones sold there. Same goes for Japan or US iPhones too (unless you go with the AT&T or T-Mobile version).

However, be advised that Malaysian AASPs may not accept warranty claims for models sold overseas. Only iPhones with model numbers sold domestically are guaranteed support by local AASPs.

Honestly do upgrade to 7.
You will feeling happy with 7 all the time.
Nowadays 7 has nothing to complain about battery life and all those things and any bugs found.

I love it now.

Now the GPS locator chip is faulty and airdrop not functioning.

I believe it has a lot to do with currency exchange rates as well as taxes.

Lets look at the current base model for iPhone 7 Plus (32GB).

US - USD 669 (not including taxes)
Malaysia - USD 799 or RM3,349 (inclusive 6% GST)
Singapore - USD 808 or SGD$1,088 (inclusive 7% GST)

So in terms of pricing in the region, we're not very far off. Of course, you can't compare to the US.

Lol just get it.. when u put casing u can't tell the difference.
The phone needs casing trust me, else it feels scary each time pull out from pocket
It's perfect with a casing else phone can't rest flat on the table with screen up cause of the camera bump..

All the Augmented reality stuff that Apple is planning can be done with 7 as well..

Sometime back in the 7/7 Plus thread when it was just rumoured that there will be three iPhones launched, two of which followed the current design and one brand new design, I predicted that Apple would be killing themselves and looks like I'm being proven to be not wrong smile.gif

My take on this. Apple simply made a wrong marketing decision. If they did not introduce the X, the demand for the 8 and 8Plus will be there much like the 7's from the Sixes. Just look at previous launches where they moved from one iteration to another without any aesthetic changes.

Well, the 7 Plus introduced dual lens for the first time, and also the Jet Black color had a novelty feel about it, but beyond that the aesthetics were similar to the 6S. I think there's a bunch of people who held on to their 6S and 6S Plus and skipped the upgrade to 7, and were likely to upgrade to 8 but now probably thought hmm, might as well wait and see what the X looks like in real life first.

The latter is not unexpected, iPhone's chip and iOS optimization blows any high end Android out of the water in synthetic benchmarks on any given day. In fact even the iPhone SE holds its own against some top end 2017 Androids. But I must say the DXOmark reviews were a bit surprising considering how every other shootout I've read online keeps giving the edge to the Galaxy phones. Anyways, Pixel 2 beckons in a couple of weeks. Let's see.

iPhone is the only Apple line of product that may has warranty restricted to the country of original purchase, that's according to Apple's warranty cause. That meant they may refuse when it comes to warranty claim so no ones know for a certain. The best way is to call Apple help line, or Apple store manager and ask them to put that in your profile where you brought the product.

Unless it's iPhone X, i won't get the 8 considering the exchange rate, u still have to put up ~1.5-3% more on top of forex rate to your CC company. I don't think the 8 would be short in stock.

It is up to you but if you happen to be in the US again when X comes out totally buy. As for warranty issues, our AASP will reject outright but if you call Apple support and explain to them that you buy as a tourist I don't think you will have any problem.

Last time I went to service my iPhone 6 Plus, the center told me they can only order a replacement iPhone that has the same model number as iPhones sold in Malaysia.

That means you should buy iPhones with an Intel modem inside, aka the T-Mobile or AT&T version. And only buy them from an Store at full retail price. Buy anywhere else, and it might be carrier-locked.

Do note that some other people have successfully claimed warranty for overseas models, but I think that they called Apple Support first (which may be able to override any policies restricting the service provider).

Technically, you can't buy carrier-locked phones as a foreigner in Trump Land. It required yearly contract for a new customer that you can't qualify or existing carrier account that you don't have. The only option is get the unlock version straight from Apple store.

anyone looking for the ip8 + instead of ip x? I find the ip8 is even more gorgeous without the antenna lines, also now a clean and sleek design. Ip x with the "iBrows" is kinda annoying to me. Plus using face id feel even more insecure to me

My order of iP8+ is on the way while waiting for X, I'll just use this for the meantime.
The notch and no touch ID, you will have to adapt as that's what Apple always do.

iPhone 4, lose connection of coverage - Apple said you hold it wrong
No headphone jack - learn to adapt, it's the future
No fingerprint reader/touch id - learn to adapt, it's the future
Notch ? - Just adapt it for now, next gen will be no notch

Knowing Apple, you have to adapt everything laugh.gif

iPhones sold at Apple Retail Stores are factory unlocked. They activate the carrier lock during activation stage; if you didn’t buy at full retail.

If you buy at a carrier store, the iPhone might have to be manually unlocked by a carrier. Even if bought at full price. However, all of this is just my understanding so take it with a grain of salt.

Last time I bought iPhone 6 in Apple Store, US. Inside the sim tray already have a T-Mobile sim card, at first I thought it's locked to T-Mobile. Then it's all okay. Cheaper by 400-500, MY that time not yet launch.
It's worth it. Last time no pin ejector, I don't know if now they already include it.

not necessary. u can see that there are a lot of ppl would choose to go for the lowest storage option no matter for iphone, ipad or macbook just to save the few hundred bucks not to mention now the price is more than rm1k difference.

iphone vs iphone plus there is already a GAP. Now there is one more iphone x.

Iphone 8 - sgd1148 (RM3570)
Iphone 8 - sgd1308 (RM4068)
iphone x - sgd1648 (RM5125)

iphone 8 plus vs x - RM1057 price in difference. To a lot the price GAP is very significant.

At presence, Mac Pro remains the only Apple Product that's manufactured in USA. The factory is in Fort Worth, Texas. I doubt there's any iPhone that's made in anywhere but China. May be it's a typo? If any, it probably should read "Designed by"

Coincidence haha, same story here. I got a 6 Plus but it was a Verizon model. Just took out the Verizon SIM. BTW, one good thing about Verizon models: they’re all factory unlocked (required by US law) even when bought with a contract.

US models come with a blank SIM already included in the slot. Phone plans are activated through the setup process, then the subscriber info is written to the blank SIM. That’s why US iPhones don’t come with SIM ejector.

Also, some might pick the lower storage options and make up for with iCloud subscriptions. For about RM150 a year (RM11.90/month), you get 200gb storage. Or for RM46.80 a year, 50Gb. May not justify paying extra hundreds more for on board storage.

I don't think you should compare the specs just like that... all online reviews say the chip and the camera are the biggest jump (compared to other features) over the previous gen...

I will go for 8+. Reason, Features almost the same 8+ and X.
I safe about RM 1800 if i but 2 units of 8+.
And iphone upgrade yearly, maybe X will cool for a while and 9 months down the road another iphone will launch.....loose the cool factor. So for practicality and $$$$, i go for 8+

I wrote somewhere, the self-collect option has been disabled due to high amounts of cancellation. When Apple ship the product to the branch, if the buyer cancelled the order, the branch would have trouble on relocating that phone as iPhone 8/8+ demand is really low compared to iphone 7/7+ as mostly people waiting for ipong X.

Usually I'll wait at least 2 weeks after the official launch. I will watch the review from youtube...speed test, battery, endurance, comparison, usually from everythingapplepro, unbox therapy, linus (sometimes), dave lee, phone arena, most of them has a final say.

if it worth the upgrade the hardware to utilize ios 11, then I will, if its not, my i7 plus is pretty damn good for now, well, I dont take pictures a lot, mostly for productivity, email, onenote, google keep and some social app, no instagram, snapchat etc.

I am still waiting few comparison between note 8 camera vs i8 plus camera though.

Otherwise, i don't think it is too useful.

Currently using the Samsung S7E, nothing is wrong with that phone but I need something more stable at the current state of my life.

I wonder if the 64GB is sufficient? I have never owned an iPhone but I do use an iPad. I use Spotify a lot and I love taking pictures.

64gb wouldn't be enough if you taking pictures alot. As new ios might take some of the space already. The better camera will also lead the picture increase in size. You may consider to get a higher storage one if your budget allows. Otherwise, you may take photo and sync to Google Photo, then delete from the device or you back up your photos routinely.

IMO, unless you are taking 4k videos and take hundreds of selfies everyday, 64gb should be sufficient for daily.

I concur. Unless you install a lot of games then the 64gb version is too small for you.
Last time I use iPhone 6S+ 64GB for almost a year with a lot of photos + jailbreak stuff + games + more than 100 apps + some videos recorded still have 15GB+ left.

i owned i7 plus 128 gb, and with all the important apps for productivity installed, most picture downloaded from whatsapp, pictures only during vacation and my storage only indicate using 13.2gb including system storage....lol biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif , so for me 64gb is more than enough...

I checked my storage of 128GB 7+, left with 24.3GB, used up 100GB+ mainly on photo apps where I transfer back almost my 1st iPhone 2G photos till now to my phone. It is something very enjoyable to watch old photos on same device, even more with my iPad Pro 12.9" which now comes with 256GB. So for me no choice but 256GB on my next phone. Too bad Apple revise the different of storage to be $150 apart now where in June, Ipad Pro is $100 apart which I was lucky to get it merely Rm500 more than 64GB. It will be nice if all iPhones in 2017 is merely US$100 apart where the different is RM500 instead of RM750 now.

Guys, know what, i day only i used the phone, it seems that my iphone 8 plus has battery problem, i was unable to charge the phone while switch one i.e the percentage of the phone never cannot increase. only if i switch off the phone and charge only the percentage went up.. already restored with latest ios 11.0.1.. still same problem.

I figured actual use case for the phone would be more accurate.

but it is, I've charged it full and then avoided charging until last night.

I'm sure a 2 minute iTunes sync wouldn't affect the battery THAT much

Same here hard to manange 16gB, constantly have to delete "useless" photos.

64GB is 4X of 16GB so i'm pretty sure it is enough.

So far what I know, you need to give your iphone info to Apple Support online and then will give like a remark number. Then send your phone to local Apple and give the remark number together. Without it, they wont proceed. But that's a SEA set, I dont know if now already have international warranty.

Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade from 5s to 8 plus. can someone advise me is it better to buy an international set right now or wait for malaysian set? my hands are very itchy now sweat.gif

just notice machines offer its machines protection plan (extra 1 year warranty) for iPhone
can consider it for those who going to buy for iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X smile.gif

Samsung's extra protection coverage is at RM249 and the iPhone 8 Plus in Singapore comes with the option of adding AppleCare+ at $269. So I think Machines' protection plan at RM599 is overpriced.

If you want mobile video, GoPro Hero 6 would be a better option.
Anyway, I don't think there will be any further price drop of iPhone 7 when it launches in Malaysia.

ip8 is in my budget, but scared the glass back will shatter easily just like my old old ip4 cry.gif
since ip7 vs ip8 same speed and stuff, maybe ill buy ip7+ use it first for 2 year and wait for ip8s+ biggrin.gif

however i do read that 7+ got problem with latest iOS 11 that kills 7+ battery life. sigh i hope its not a conspiracy stuff where apple want people to buy 8+ blush.gif

US & HK I can confirm can be use here with any telcos. Japan maybe the same but I won't be sure as I don't own Japan set yet.
Can be use means 4G / LTE is working.

First problem with my unit was I can't update as it keep searching. I clicked restored from my iPhone 5S and this is the main culprit I assumed.
Did a factory reset and setup as new device, update is working.

i bought here in saudi arabia as Im working here...battery similar to i7 plus which is excellent (well, still not 24hr) but i felt like there are still of juice even i used it a lot, don't worry since the a11 bionic really optimised the phone, worked on any wireless charging as well.

no such thing as split gate whatsoever...
