My take on this. Apple simply made a wrong marketing decision. If they did not introduce the X, the demand for the 8 and 8Plus will be there much like the 7's from the Sixes. Just look at previous launches where they moved from one iteration to another without any aesthetic changes.The good news is that we will get the 8 and 8 Plus here sooner rather than later, haha
