Welp can say it is semi-confirmed based on discussion from various site and leaked screenshot,
here's a *rumors* about the package

- to be launch earliest in Apr'17?
- 10M DL speed (duh..) / 5M Upload
- priced RM149 / 129? (w/ or w/out 600min voice call)
- Run at VDSL instead of Fibre, in other words still using shitty copper line, more like Streamyx pro, Unifi my arse

UPDATE:
06/04/17: For area which doesn't have Unifi coverage / port full.
15/04/17: *FROM* RM149 now, no lower package available (to be confirmed whether Voice call can be removed = RM129)

Nothing had been official from TM yet,
let's see what happen from tomorrow onward...

Actually if without HyppTV, the price for UniFi Advance will not be RM179 but it's actually RM149.

Some more info from live chat, download 10Mbps upload 5Mbps, LOL they definitely can't achieve this with current ADSL2+.

Edit: They say it's VDSL and FTTH, so strange with these new techs introduced and still no UniFi.

I have email to TM to check on last month, they said this package only for very selected area only due to technical limitation, and at my postcode only 2 area got Unifi Lite. I think it is only for the area that only support 4mbps or 8mbps, for us that still struck with 1mbps, it is not possible to get it. Even my area already got Unifi 1 year ago, but my house don hv Unifi due to TECHNICAL LIMITATION, even my house just 500 meter far away from Unifi address.

Seems like we can call TM Sales Dept (100-4) or walk-in TMpoint to query as much as we can,
but yet there's no way we can secretly subscribe this before public launch?

We can literally tell TM to fuck off if they really charge rm149 as normal price,

- Maxis Fibre is Rm139, and faster UL speed (10M)
- even more expensive than current overpriced Shitmix (8Mbps: promo rm140)
- DiGi Infinite 150 is portable and could reach better speed than Unifi 30Mbps depends on areas

There is no reason to subscribe this unless you really want that HyppTv craps

In future if our gomen don't give them exclusive monopoly. We can hope but who knows. TM Unifi coverage expanding takes more than 7 years already. But i still not see them available in small city & village area.

Maybe we can hope something like Gigabit Wireless Internet technology. Or 5G speed.
Wireless internet can easily use & wide coverage. But cons is data limit. Even in future maybe we have 1Gbps speed over the air. But that times we normally stream 4K video & 100GB for just one game downloading into our 5TB Hard Disk. sad.gif

The future data is even more huge bandwidth & fast speed is needs to download the content without waiting more times just to wait 100% loads. doh.gif

The problem with wireless is latency and its subjected to network congestion if there are too many users using the service at one time. I still prefer a faster landline internet.

My company is installing the unifi. I asked the unifi contractor, and he said yes, he already received information about unifi lite. Support copper or fibre, depend area. Expected to launch end of the month. But he has no pricing detail.

i think both.

apparently one of the TM FB pages (on 5 april) said 2 packages for unifi lite

1) SUBB
Network platform: ADSL, card upgrade to VDSL card/VDSL

2) HUBB
Network platform: HSBB (FTTH & VDSL)

no latency issue with LTE for online gaming(just slightly higher than unifi ping in CSGO..around 45-65ms)... just signal stability.. that depends on Telco network..

not a bad idea for TM to upgrade their DSLAM to VDSL or something..

Since it will take forever for unifi to get here..

well at least VDSL better ping/latency than ADSL and 5mbps upload speed..

if VDSL is installed possible later on can reach 30mbps? lets call it UniFiLite10

downside is why is the coverage/eligible people for it so bad

I'm totally disappointed and lost all of my hope to TM after knowing my area are not covered by Unifi Lite.

Unifi lite pre-launch assumed price only around RM149/month for 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload while I'm paying RM170/month for 8Mbps download and 512Kbps upload that totally make other devices at home unusable when doing icloud backup! TM, you're totally bullsh*t! vmad.gif

They even dare to suggest me to take Webe instead as an alternative for high speed broadband access doh.gif

already terminate my streamyx.

If this package is cheap (RM100 or below) and also open to new subscriber, maybe I will consider to subscribe again.

Lulz 15 years subscribing to TMNut, and then Streamyx still pay RM110 for 1Mbps

Seeing tm worker laying the unifi cable underground infront of my house make me so happy, but after waiting for almost a year, nothing happen. My are still got no unifi, only bangsawan area got coverage. My dream is shattered.

Maybe we can apply this unifi lite using this technique. Go to the tm page and do the unifi online registration. So maybe tm people will call you and tell you your area doesn't have unifi but they can give your the lite package. Last time I try apply unifi online althought my area doesn't have any coverage. The worker ask me if I wanna upgrade my streamyx from 2 to 4 mpbs instead. The funny thing is, my area doesn't cover 4mbps as I have try multiple time to upgrade it.I ask tm center and even the technician who do the house installation, they say my place max 2, 4 doesn't have. But suddenly after trying this method, I get the upgrade and has been using it. LOL.

I just got back from Tm Point, the officer who attended me just now said:

"I'm sorry sir, this plan only available for those who stayed under unifi coverage"
(I looked him like shocking.gif )

While most statement on the internet clearly stated that:

"This plan only available for those who out of coverage of Unifi/No port available"

rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Lastly he said:

"Sir, perhaps you want to try our Webe, it's only RM79 per month yada yada...."

I straightly said sorry and blah macam tu je!

just wondering why they cannot do both, that will be happy ending
Unifi *Lite* to non-Unifi area
and Unifi VIP10 (not Lite) to Unifi area.

Digi infinite (150) vs unifi lite (149 expected)
Advantage of digi.
Usually faster speed with 4G.
Unlimited call.
Mobility.
No contract.
Extra 5-10% discount for many credit card.

Disadvantage
Higher ping.
Congested may happen for some area.
1TB quota.
Block p2p.

With the above points, i find no reason to use unifi lite as my first option. I rather take the risk to test digi first, if it really not suitable to use at my area, i only sign 2 years contract with TM.

The competition for wireless are aggressive now. Lock down 2years with TM lossing many chance to get a better offer.

another reliable source

Will be launch on the third week of april. (After 16 april)

Price: rm149 for 10mbps download and 5mbps upload.

Readily available for unifi areas but for non unifi areas., they need to check the infra first whether vdsl ready or not. Tm need to change the adsl2 card to vdsl card at the exchange/roadside cabinet.

He said that even your place already got and subscribe for hsi package (4&8mbps) it doesn't mean that unifi lite will be available because of different infrastructure between streamyx and unifi lite. Streamyx - adsl2 while unifi lite vdsl2. They need to change the card thingy first. sad.gif

My taman has UniFi. But not my house. Another jalan behind mine got. How to wait? It maybe be forever don't have...

Last time I asked TM technician / installer, they said no place to install new fiber cable at my house area. So UniFi Lite is my last option before I potong.

Nope. Unless you're paying the exact price of the package (rm140 and rm160 respectively). Rm88 for 4mbps already worth the price. If on vdsl, the ping should be slightly better than streamyx.

Edited: Someone goes thru 1tb and it reset the counter to 0. Seem truly unlimited.

I just got off with 100 number. TM product guy over the phone say Unifi Lite use fibre not copper. I repeat his statement and he reaffirm the same thing. bad news taman next to mine, behind mine, across the road all got UNIFI but not my taman. He suggest those taman without UNIFI to go to TM Point and fill up Demand List for Unifi.

Please refer to digi post. There were someone showing the digi system and it shown 999gb quota.

Edited: Someone goes thru 1tb and it reset the counter to 0. Seem truly unlimited.

Good to know that. I consulted DiGi through Facebook. They also don't know what will happened when hit limit... blink.gif

Time to get a prepaid to test the speed at my house now. nod.gif

Is your area support Unifi? Or streamyx only?

This UniFi Lite is ready for service for all UniFi area regardless of FTTH or VDSL.The only question will TM sell this package to the public or targeted customers only? Or will it only open to VDSL area under HSBB ?

Then we have the Streamyx area. For those who want to enjoy UniFi Lite in Streamyx area, that area must support VDSL equipment at the main office. If the area is supported then it will fall under SUBB area.

The main differences with the old VIP 10 are

1)Upload speed is only 5 Mbps
2)No STB for customer
3)No DECT Phone
4)No IPTV service by default replaced by OTT app
5)It is cheaper than VIP5 retail price RM149

But this UniFi Lite still comes with telephony service. To enjoy HyppTV offerings, one need to use the HyppTV Everywhere apps.

If TM made mandatory to buy this UniFi Lite with HyppTV pack, then this offer is not really worth coz it is troublesome to enjoy HyppTV Pack with OTT apps.

Analysing TM behaviour to customers from past experience, it is expected they will change the treatment if many customers complaint about this.

I think TM's intention is to promote 4G LTE, FTTH and VDSL and eventually kill off ADSL (which will be not profitable and less productive, ADSL is dying). So they will make Webe and Unifi (+ Unifi Lite) cheap but not Streamyx.

Will be upgraded to VDSL in stages. For most of us with already access to 8Mbps, it is just changing the OLT cards.

It is just a matter of time, probably 1-2 years. You will be attracted to move to VDSL/FTTH/LTE, give up ADSL. Just like how we killed TM Net 1515, 2G. Maintenance cost, Fibre is cheaper than copper.

If you already enjoy 8mbps, most likely your area had already been covered by LTE and will be covered by FTTH/VDSL (under HSBB2) very soon. Even for those intend to apply for Unifi Lite during launch, I don't expect we are lucky to get the service by end of April or even May 2017, backlogs caused by high demand. Rome was not built in a day.

I hope so. As for now I would say Unifi Lite MAYBE only available at the main town area which is around 1.5KM from my taman because I saw there are two new huge cabinet that starts with 'V' code build up by TM that has been properly set up (but unsure whether it's running already or not) since end of last year. The box in front of my taman also got the 'BS V0001' code but it has been in operation since 2010. It was long time ago when Unifi just started their service hmm.gif BTW, do you know what the meaning of 'V' at the cabinet? Is that stands for VDSL or what? At the same time, I also saw many 'unfinished' black cable with yellow stripes underneath it (supposedly fiber that will be going to the street cabinet, perhaps?) hang in the telephone pole around my town.

Anyway, my places also got the full bar coverage for 4G LTE Yes, Celcom, Digi, Webe, Maxis, Umobile etc etc but in my opinion, nothing beats wired. sad.gif

Wired just beat wireless in term of ping.
Other factors still variable.

You should keep the contact. WhatsApp the marketer 2 weeks later for Unifi Lite. They can do something even if TM point staff cannot help.

I'm also planning to change to digi infinite. May i know whether it can be used on the usb type dongle that will be connected to home wireless router instead of mobile phone/ipad? I just want the pure data service as a main internet at home as a replacement of stupid 8mbps streamyx that only got 512kbps of upload.

Yes, you can use on any device
But do note that digi blocks portforwarding by default and only google dns can be used so far.

UniFi Lite is from the goverment's SUBB Project. (Sub Urban BroadBand). If you have fiber, you're under HSBB (High Speed Broadband)

So I guess it is like this, HSBB for prime urban area with high demand for hi speed internet. For areas with less demand, they will upgrade ADSL to VDSL and offer UniFi Lite under SUBB initiative.

And for places with even lesser demand, they will just continue with Streamyx. But I believe long term they will upgrade everyone to VDSL.

Same..TM cabinet got 3 in my Taman..The cabinet which I ported to is named KKB VC5010..TM said that this cabinet could got up to 8Mbps which is true anyway..They said they are planning something soon with that cabinet and I think it's that new Unifi Lite.Funny thing is that my jalan supports 8Mbps while the jalan behind my house only supports until 4Mbps only..TM said that the 8Mbps is not avaiable at all Jalan..Only with high demand jalan have it.

Same same..All Telcos at my Taman also got 4G except for U Mobile which is still stuck at 3G

Another question. Is Unifi Life quota-based product? Just like Streamyx Lite 1mbps @ RM38+GST but cap 1GB. The fair price for uncapped Unifi Lite should be RM129+GST if no Free calls provided (worth RM20).

If unifi lite price is attractive, I think it will have quite a no of users will move to that plan especially if they do not need such high speed.

It is possible. There was a news from last year reporting about TM's plan to move toward a usage based pricing system for its broadband offering.

u know what, this unifi lite plan actually only for unifi coverage area
@for those who dont want to subs for 30mbps RM179/month or still dont subs to unifi yet even their area already covered with unifi
if u think this plan for non unifi/streamyx area..dream on,im pretty sure 90% streamyx user cant subs to this so call unifi lite plan
*
but for my view..mine is the opposite
u know what TM is lah
they won't let their current UNIFI customer to decrease speed and lower their monthly bills brows.gif ..that means they earn less
but instead they want to upgrade screamyx owner and increase their monthly bills or at least maintain it

Offcourse not. In order to get this plan, you still need UniFi infrastructure available in your area

idk how it is possible for ADSL2PLUS to get 30ms lmao... mostly when i use is 60ms(lowest)+ ~~80ms~~ sometimes spike 2-3k ping..

anyway to calculate ping? inserting line attenuation and etc2.. ? like this one : http://www.speedguide.net/dsl_speed_calc.php

i am located about ~700 meters from DSLAM..

edit : so basically is TM using VDSL or is it VDSL2 ? and are they going to also implement VDSL Vectoring(noise canceling something2)? (idk what im talking about)

At my place I can get ping of 30ms or less with streamyx 8Mbps package. I think the ping depends on the quality of the connection and the distance from the server.

My speedtest result for streamyx 8Mbps:

We just need to spend extra RM2000+/- in the next few months to fund the infra (FTTH/VDSL), still cheaper than "Capital Contribution" cost. The Govt and TM need to spend billion RM to build up the new infra.
And also, only from this year onwards, the internet subscription is part of income tax relief so you may pay less tax.

TM inks HSBB 2 and SUBB agreements with Malaysian government
21 Dec 2015
Telekom Malaysia has announced the signing of two public private partnership (PPP) agreements with the Government of Malaysia for the implementation of the High Speed Broadband Project Phase 2 (HSBB 2) and the Sub-Urban Broadband Project (SUBB). Both projects will see TM roll out a last mile access network to homes and businesses utilising fibre-to-the-home (FTTH), Ethernet-to-the-home (ETTH) and VDSL2 technologies.
Outlining details of the two deals, TM noted that the ten year HSBB 2 project ‘encompasses the deployment of additional access and core capacity covering state capitals and selected major towns throughout the country’. Under the project, 95 additional exchanges will be made HSBB ready, providing access to 390,000 premises in ‘other priority economic areas including state capitals [and] selected major towns’ by 2017. The PPP agreement related to HSBB 2 meanwhile includes planning, designing, implementation, operation and maintenance of HSBB network infrastructure and services. Meanwhile, the SUBB infrastructure will also be rolled out over a period of ten years, with this project involving the upgrading of existing copper lines to deliver broadband at downlink speeds of up to 20Mbps, or up to 100Mbps in those areas where FTTH technology is utilised. In total, some 420,000 premises in ‘sub urban and rural areas’ will benefit from the SUBB project by 2019.
In terms of the financial aspects of the projects, the total cost of the HSBB 2 investment over the ten year period will reportedly be MYR1.8 billion (USD419 million), with the government contributing MYR500 million of that and TM responsible for the remainder. Total investment in the SUBB project, meanwhile, is expected to be MYR1.6 billion over ten years, with the state’s portion of that being MYR600 million and again TM covering the balance.
Commenting on the development, TM group chief executive Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd. Isa, was cited as saying: ‘The HSBB 2 and SUBB are set to benefit not only the consumers, but also Malaysian businesses as we will be able to provide Malaysians with world class network infrastructure and superfast connectivity, boosting the development of ICT-related industries towards fulfilling Government’s aspiration of elevating Malaysia into a high-income nation. Rest assured that TM is fully committed in supporting the Malaysian Government in these initiatives, which will go a long way towards realising the goals defined under the National Broadband Initiatives.’

This UniFi Lite is ready for service for all UniFi area regardless of FTTH or VDSL.The only question will TM sell this package to the public or targeted customers only? Or will it only open to VDSL area under HSBB?

Then we have the Streamyx area. For those who want to enjoy UniFi Lite in Streamyx area, that area must support VDSL equipment at the main office. If the area is supported then it will fall under SUBB area.

because TM is the only largest fix broadband provider, there is a possibility they might impose some conditions if the price is ever slashed, like imposing quota limit or only lower the pricing for existing subscribers etc. Do you not remember how they do it with Streamyx 1mb lite?

We need to allow more outsider broadband players to come in, then there will be price war.

TM should provide more choices to the users, just like other telecoms, Maxis, Digi, Celcom. If the user wants something cheap, quota limit applies. If they need unlimited data, they pay for premium.
A few years from now, I believe other service providers could provide the internet service as well, but if you use TM/Time FTTH/copper line, you need to pay the line rental to TM, Time (eg existing TM line rental is RM25) plus the internet service to ISP. This is the business model in some developed countries.

Be optimistic. That's govt directive as clearly mentioned in Bajet 2017 (Oct2016) and it is likely to be part of BN's manifesto for PRU14.
If you are not happy with Streamyx 1mbps @ RM110+GST, you can try Streamyx Lite @ RM38+GST, 1mbps@RM68+GST if you qualify for low income group, 1mbps@RM100+GST if contract expires. Mobile internet packages nowadays are very attractive, compared to Streamyx RM110. Or you just wait till 2019 to see if a miracle would happen.
Think positively.

Who the heck would pay for RM38 streamyx lite with 1gb quota? 1 download and the whole month cannot use already. Defeat the purpose of having internet unless you only check email few times a week.
For the low income group package, I have long ask from TM and they said the package is no more being sold, therefore forget about it.

Don't put high hope on tm. Monopoly company can never improve much because no one to compete.

Haha, anyone here could anytime stop using TM service if he is not happy! We have other choices nowadays. TM's product or service is not really a necessity.
FYI, Some light user uses Streamyx Lite, just to keep the phone number, for the senior citizens, or for home alarm / CCTV. Service will be throttled to 128Kbps upon reaching 1GB capping until the next cycle. It is still useful and economical to some people.

Go for Streamyx Lite PLUS Digi 110 or Infinite 150 is one of the solutions for those who cannot get Unifi Lite (Phase 1).

Maybe for those who are under coverage already got the call from TM right now.
But as for me, yes I'm 8mbps users but not within the coverage of the new unifi lite, so nothing will happen.
Keep paying RM170/month until haihh... sad.gif

There are some people got addicted to Fixed Broadband for some reasons ~ senior citizens, Alarm/CCTV, or just to keep the contact number! LTE / LTE-A is forcing TM to move from ADSL/ADSL2 to LTE, VDSL2 and FTTH.

1. RM150 +6% = RM159.
2. Just a sim card.
3. You must get a 4G LTE modem to enjoy best performance.
Cheapest LTE USB modem below RM200. Price between RM150-350. You need router to share as wifi. Some older router which support USB can flash custom firmware to support the USB modem.
Alternatively can get a MIFI, or wireless gateway. Price from RM350-1000.
4. Depend on model.

From my experience, modem has better receiver/antenna than phone. Yes, most cases it will faster and stable than phone. BUT, it doesn't mean it meet your requirments or reach its best performance.
But don't worry is, most modem has external antenna slot, which allow you install a bigger antenna to improve stability and signal. If you said your speed & stability not good enough, please go for outdoor and test again. If outside is very good performance, antenna mostly will fix all your problem.

Finally, if your speed is nothing related to signal strength, that's mean your area is congested.

If Unifi Lite 10 is RM129(Promo)/149(Normal Price), then TM may again revise the Streamyx pricing... 2mbps RM100/120(NP), 4mbps RM110/130(NP), 8mbps RM120/140(NP), just like when they launched Unifi in 2010.

Hi sifus..

wanna ask for the infinite 150...

Is the quota of 33 gb per day true??

If i get the plan and buy a moden router and share the connection as if my Home wifi will the speed decreased to 64k?Because i tried
a prepaid sim and as soon as i turn on mobile hotspot the connection turn to H+ not 4G.

Thank you in advance.

Actually nothing technical you need to settle too. Just say your requirements and budget, i could recommend you few models. Plug the sim card and use it.
The first thing is, you need make sure your area is in coverage.

Hi sifus..

wanna ask for the infinite 150...

*
Infinite 150 is truely unlimited.
3G/4G on and off is a normal issue. But you can force 4G connection when use in modem. Just make sure you in coverage.

Actually nothing technical you need to settle too. Just say your requirements and budget, i could recommend you few models. Plug the sim card and use it.

Because to have 4G+, both Band 3 and 7 signal need to reach a certain signal strength only they can be aggregated into 4G+. Band 7 had much smaller range than Band 3.

Yes, digi indoor coverage not so good. Advise you put modem near window or use antenna and put outside.

Although modem router generally had better reception than mobile phone but the improvement might not worth the extra money spend. You should really consider a modem router if you really don't want to tether it from your phone.

You would want to consider something like this. Although Huawei is more expensive than most brand, their modem's stability is much higher others. If you don't care about portability, don't even think about buying Huawei E5786.

Buy a modem first. If performance not so good only consider antenna.

*
RM129 is not a promo price. RM 99 + RM 30 HyppTV Pack = RM 129 is the normal price.

With GST RM129*1.06 = 136.74

And no free call too. Wanna free call, add another RM 20 before GST.

Reprising Streamyx for new customer is easy, but not existing one brows.gif

As long as it's a 4G LTE router, you are good to go. Whether which model you wanted, it's your personal choice.

Thanks for the feedback. both tested about same time? I used my iphone 7+ on "3G" and can get up to ~16Mbps actual download during 4-6am and steady decline toward prime hours. If modem can't even match the speed of iPhone, that's kinda suck.

No lah. Did he say both are on 4G network? And IPhone 7 can support up to 450Mbps on 4G and his Huawei modem can only go up to 150Mbps. Moreover, we don't even know what band is the modem and the iPhone is using. Maybe the iPhone is on band 7 and the modem is on band 3.

Band 7 is less congested hence the speed should be faster. But band 7 has lower wall penetration than band 3. My ZTE does not have such function but I don't know whether Huawei has that kind of function.

Hi guys,

Need your advice aswell
Im planning to get the digi 150 Infinite plan however i am in contract with maxis with maxis one plan for 2 years
The 150 infinite plan is to replace my streamyx 1mb plan hence i am not using it for call/sms etc.
I do not need a router for wifi as I already have data on my phone. Need suggestions for a router that can connect with the digi 150 infinite directly to pc

Thank you and regards

Stop trying to spread the information regarding higher frequency band could support more user. It's untrue. Higher frequency band is likely to be less congested since it had smaller range. With same spectrum bandwidth, both band could carry the equal amount of data and users.

Yes. That's right but if you have wider coverage and stronger signal, more devices will connect on that tower because the phones will automatically select the strongest signal. If you have smaller coverage area, it will be less congested. I will take back my "support more user". Thank you for correcting me.

Can't blame, if TM has good service, there is no such situation.
Even the cabling is ready, you may wait for year to install unifi.

Anyway, i suggest create another thread for digi inifite lol.

Well if TM would take time to care for streamyx customers such as give a planned upgrade or better connection it wouldnt be this way.

Give surprise also in voucher while othees are enjoying speed upgrade...other isp are going by the hundred of mb per second and we are stuck at single digit speed. Go figure.

Thanks for the feedback. both tested about same time? I used my iphone 7+ on "3G" and can get up to ~16Mbps actual download during 4-6am and steady decline toward prime hours. If modem can't even match the speed of iPhone, that's kinda suck.
*
Yes tested at same time and both tested on 4G connection. Anyway just an observation from a layman. I'm not techie so can't explain why. And digi at my place not that great. I get 46 Mbps with u mobile, same place same time testing as well.

I am sure there is new tech mobile broadband available that these rivals can deploy without benefiting TM, to hell TaMa-de. Waiting for the time when TM has to write-off their copper wires n downsize their operations.

Only TM and Time are having extensive Fibre network, other mobile networks ride on their fibre network to save cost. A few years later, you may choose to use other internet service provider, but you still need to pay TM/Time for line rental if the copper / fibre line to your house is owned by TM/Time. It is happening in other countries.

– Bernama

CODE
1)Passive Infrastructure
1st tier is now being handled by neutral TNB who isn't involved with ISP businesses.
TNB will only lay dark fibres which they lease to anyone interested as long as they have spare cores available for backhaul.

2)Active Network Providers
These are companies which set up their own switching equipments, DSLAMs, OLTs, BGP core routers, and gateways
Example of such active networks we have today are TM's HSBB, Maxis's NGBB, Time Fibre, Symphonet, DiGi and Umobile.

3)Retail Service Providers (RSP) or "Perkhidmatan Runchit"
These are ISPs who rent bandwidth or buy wholesale services from network providers/active wholesale segments to provide last mile itnernet services to consumers.

The good thing is that now all other ISPs such as Time no longer needs to be forced to leased whole packages from TM Wholesale.

They only need to lease dark fibre from TNB and then spent for last mile equipment to potential markets they want to serve.

You will pay to 2 parties - the internet subscription to the Internet Service Provider PLUS the line rental to TM/Govt (eg RM25 for PSTN line we paid before Streamyx Combo). None of telecoms around the world will invest in the infra then open up for others to use for free!

Please check again. It was RM88 (free upgrade from 0.5mbps to 1mbps in 2005) + line rental RM25 + Call charges. Then Streamyx Combo RM110 + voice pack (RM48/10) in 2010. Then Streamyx RM110 (free Calls to TM) in 2012. +GST beginning 1/4/2015.

Im not referring to infrastructure of TM.im referring to the promises made during election and when they want to jack up the price.they can say they want to put fiber from town to the last durian tree at thai- malaysia border.but in reality the coverage sucks.even next road to my house which is less than 20 meter apart has unifi but my lane has no connection.been filling forms to request from 2011.if u truly want better coverage then do for all.every crook and cranny of corners in malaysia including kampung and rural area.

Not earlier than Nov 30, 2009, please refer to lowyat's 4mbps V2...
4mbps was reduced from RM160 to RM140 due to launch of Unifi VIP5 (2010).

I know because i pay for it. Rm140 since 2008.

Looks like TM updated their Unifi Coverage check website. They've added coverage check via Google Maps..It seems like the Unifi Lite is gonna launch within the next few days.
https://tm.com.my/#/explore

But I'm curious about something, the map has a red dot indicator in some area and I don't know what that means.Hope that you guys could explain it.
*
I see orange dots, I suppose they represent Unifi coverage area ..
when you choose any landmark around that dots, system will say you are within coverage
though certain dots will give negative results

What is the different between V and VC coding in the tm street cabinet? I saw four new cabinets build up recently at the main town which have coding VC on it while the cabinet in front of my taman only got V as a code name. The distance between my taman to the main town area would be around 1.5km. Is that means that VC cabinet got VDSL dslam while V cabinet is old style adsl2+ dslam hmm.gif

My taman got that one too.My taman got 3 of those cabinets and last year, they put up another cabinet which names KKB VC5006.That's the port that I was ported to.But not all jalan at my Taman got that.Only my jalan and certain jalan got it.To be more sure,if the TM Infra names VCXXXXX same as the cabinet outside the taman, means thats the line that you are ported to.I once asked TM workers whats the function of the new cabinet. They said that the new cabinet is suppose to support 8Mbps speed which is true because I'm using Streamyx 8Mbps right now.Recently, they put all the new VC Cabinet all over my town and taman means something big is gonna happen..Hopefully but still I wish they could do the same like that for Unifi coverage T_T

I think the telco tower at your place is congested with many users causing network slowdowns.

Just curious if VoiceSTD 20 (RM20) can be removed from the standard package, just like Unifi 30 at RM179 (without calls) or RM199 (with calls).

According to that brochure.....page 1, the "Voice STD 20" MENTIONED it is OPTIONAL TO SUBSCRIBE. Which means, if one wants Voice STD20, total would be RM 149 + RM 20 = RM 169. Oh well......

EDIT: I really hope I am wrong for this one.

Where I can check the coverage for Unifi Lite? I know the pricing is expensive but I think my dad needs it and at least he can save some money by unsubscribing Astro and relying on HyppTV.

I also can consider my dad to take Digi Infinite 150 but maybe not because Digi 4G is weak inside our home.

If I am not wrong, internet RM99, HyppTV RM30, Voice RM20, so V+I+P is RM149, same as those VIP5-UnifiLite10 existing customers. If Voice pack is optional, we may get I+P at RM129, and V is chargeable by minutes https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Atta...post&id=8732760

Unifi/Streamyx Residential is just a small portion of TM's businesses. Other mobile operators are buying TM's bandwidth for their LTE operations.

[1] Learn from mobile operations, buy bandwidth from TM and distribute to a few users. Eg. 4 neighbours join to buy Unifi 100mbps at RM300, each paying RM75, you may sometime use 100mbps if your neighours are not using internet, during peak hours each will get 25mbps. I think this is how mobile broadband works.

[2] The Govt and TM are spending billion RM to build up HSBB2/SUBB till 2019. When they complete most of the infra, it is likely they will slash the internet cost to half (as announced in Budget 2017). Don't expect other telecoms including Time will invest billion RM into less populated areas, to ride on TM's existing network is much cheaper, instead of laying their own cable.

Sharing the resources is always cheaper than each owning their resources. (just like Uber/GrabCar, AirBnB)

Yes.. but the monopoly by TM will still continue and consumers will have to bear the brunt of it by paying through their noses.

TM gets most of its profit form selling bandwidth to other Internet Service Providers(ISP) like Maxis,Digi and etc.
TM owns nationwide infrastructure such as fibre backbone in which other ISPs share and rent.

Yes depends on the area.

So for the areas which has Unifi coverage currently will use the fiber version of the plan. And for area without Unifi coverage will use the VDSL version of the plan.

well based on personal experience all maxis fiber i experienced they all the same, bad.

unifi their internet is good but some area exist congestion problem when peak hour speed drop.

I rather have speed drop, compare to bad internet routing/ez lag when download.

again, from personal experience, which i had experience on different place.

TM gets most of its profit form selling bandwidth to other Internet Service Providers(ISP) like Maxis,Digi and etc.
TM owns nationwide infrastructure such as fibre backbone in which other ISPs share and rent.
*
That is why they should invest in submarine cable n landing station instead relying on TM 100%. At least invest in submarine cable.

lol customer.

i talk as a gamer, but you bring your customer feedback into this discussion.

do you play game? heavily rely on line stability game like cs:go. you sure some area maxis is really better than unifi in term of gaming?

i find your statement is a bit weird also, maxis using unifi backbone,

i dun think maxis can perform better if unifi at that area is suck.

you talk as a agent or talk as your experience? do you play game like csgo? which rely heavily on line stability 1.

of cuz they share backbone but not everything.

u can see in /k there are as many unifi complaint bout stability or connection as maxis.. both are a lot similar than u think.

As agent lor..

I never say maxis are better..

We should forsee many more problem like this to come because TM monopolizing the nationwide backbone. Not many company can put huge investment in submarine cable n landing station here. tm pun because partly supported by gov in Malaysia.

Let's wait and see. Because now Unifi is not stable, sometimes ok sometimes not ok. I still prefer Streamyx because of the stability.

i heard mixed feedback, so is depend by luck. but if happen to me, i will keep dail 100 until they fix the issue. in my life of use streamyx from 0.5Mb till now 4mb since 2002, the hardest problem i ever have is auto dc/reconnect (aka: reset) in every few minutes, that took few months after many escalation suddenly works. that time i always get banned due to left game in blueserver.

Anyway guys, tomorrow should be the release date of Unifi Lite...fingers crossed
Yesterday when I was searching for the normal Unifi coverage on Tm's website,I notice that their database seems to have a tendency to get my address wrong all the time,I think they are updating their database system for Lite...

If you don't need free 600 minutes calls, you may get it at RM129 (I am guessing), though the standard package inclusive 600 min calls is RM149. Just wait till promo (eg Unifi 30 standard RM199, promo RM179 but no free calls).

Give and take-lah. If it is too cheap, then TM will not provide cable, installation, modems that may come to thousand RM. FTTH/VDSL2 modems are very expensive compared to Streamyx ADSL modem. Contract is 24 months, once all the hardware are installed and working, negotiate the pricing after 24 months and you may get discount (but Jib already announced the price will be cut by half within 2 years)

RM149: VIP 5 Mbps -> Unifi Lite 10 Mbps
RM199: VIP10 Mbps -> Unifi Adv 30 Mbps
RM249: VIP20 Mbps -> Unifi Adv 50 Mbps
standard pricing for new and existing customers. with free calls.

During promo, TM offer discount RM20, but no free calls. If you can wait.

Or choose Maxis Fibre 10 at RM139, Celcom Fibre 10 at RM145. They use Unifi network.

RM249: VIP20 Mbps -> Unifi Adv 50 Mbps
standard pricing for new and existing customers. with free calls.

During promo, TM offer discount RM20, but no free calls. If you can wait.

Or choose Maxis Fibre 10 at RM139, Celcom Fibre 10 at RM145. They use Unifi network.
*
TM offer discount RM20 for RM149: VIP 5 Mbps?

When it will be? after fill months?

May I know your previous VIP5 monthly pay how much?
And after upgrade to this 10Mbps (Unifi Lite), did you ask TM teams whether the monthly package of Unifi Lite (10mbps) will increase?
*
previous was usual RM149 package, without add-ons and GST.

My latest bill still having the same amount as I paid in previous months. But stated dunno what "HyppTV Ruby Pack (Promo)" and also "Voice STD 20 Monthly Fee".

---

So I guess RM99+RM30+RM20 and RM20 can be optional.

Pray and wait for promo...
pricing structure: Internet RM99, HyppTV RM30, Voice calls RM20. so total RM149.
Look at the leaflet again. Voice STD 20 * Optional to subscribe!
There is hope you may get it at RM129.  brows.gif

If they even give you an option to split the bundle lol

Nobody watches their HyppTv, they should just remove it from being mandatory to subscribe to the package. I'd rather have mandatory voice call than HyppTV.

If your area support, can upgrade. Contract is 2 years, not 1 year.

Perhaps now it's the time they should consider lowering streamyx price. bring back 4mb rm88. and 8mb rm100. So those who do not need upload can continue to sub streamyx.

In my experience, that cable position is refering to Unifi cableling cause Unifi infra is the same like that just your TM Infra does not have the FDP box yet..If they put a grey box at the Infra, congratulations,Unifi (FTTH) cable is coming to your area.By FTTH,I mean the advance plan such as 30Mbps and above speed.

Unifi lite

Subb(copper infra) - depends on TM exchange.

Hsbb(fiber infra) - unifi service more than 1 year, then can apply. Got other Tnc too.

Free 1 month is for new customer, you can request for new Unifi service, and terminate the Streamyx line (if beyond contract period) once Unifi is installed. You will get a new phone number and give up old number.

Be optimistic. Once Unifi lite 10 is launched, TM will phase out ADSL 8Mbps, as VDSL2 will replace ADSL. It is likely you are one of the 100k Streamyx customers in Broadband Improvement Plan 2017. You will be offered Unifi Lite at RM149+GST as it is cheaper than your Streamyx 8Mbps Rm160+GST. Otherwise you may ask TM to offer you Rm20 discount, ie RM140+GST. Make sure you have been Streamyx 8Mbps customer for more than 24 months.

correct me if i'm wrong,
in previous Unifi history,
one is allowed to exclude Voice call and get price reduction upon registration? i know HyppTV is mandatory only
(P/S: i'm talking about standard registration, not special promo like RM179 or anything)

Fibre optic to the Cabinet (FTTC) or Building (FTTB) then existing copper line to your house. Use VDSL2 technology. You need to change from ADSL (Streamyx) modem to RM300+ VDSL modem.

You need to understand.First, they got area call HSBB.This is UniFi area.Access type is FTTH or VDSL.UniFi Lite 10 is serviceable.

Then they got Streamyx area that is not converted into HSBB.Still using ADSL.So UniFi Lite 10 is not serviceable.

So some of this area got converted into SUBB area where can support VDSL.Up to UniFi Lite 10 is serviceable.

Just curious if TM resellers had started to proceed with Unifi Lite application, since they have distributed the leaflets since last week. TM agent is sometime more helpful than TMpoint's staff. Haha I don't mind that "1 month free subscription".

Fibre optic to the Cabinet (FTTC) or Building (FTTB) then existing copper line to your house. Use VDSL2 technology. You need to change from ADSL (Streamyx) modem to RM300+ VDSL modem.

do you knows the length of copper from FTTB or FTTC to home that good to support up to 10mbps, 30mbps, 50mps & 100mbps.

my home can only support 30mbps due to using VDSL2
