its not maxis has lower tech as telco can buy or hire others company.its just they dun wan to fork more money as they re burdened with high debt ratio already.plus they need to meet their shareholder dividen payments expectation .

that means maxis claiming to be best, brand and sell their products in the premium catagory, but actually using less superior technology. How terrible to cheat consumers in such a way

not sure what u mean by water fish... but in Penang Area, other then Maxis(usually stable at 20mbps, mostly up to 40-60mbps), Digi (usually stable at 5-10mbps, some area support up to 20mbps)seem really performe good with VoLTE(NOTE: it dose not mean must have LTE-A to enable VoLTE, and also not always with LTE-A can push up ur bandwidth to/over 20mbps), and other thn this 2 telco, the rest r shit to compare (even umobile)

where i test mostly my work place(2 places), home area and shopping mall, maxis usually out perform, Digi 2nd in place and Celcom get last(2phone, 3sim to test). maxis and digi having fast network switching technology (it wont break connection while switching 4g,3g,2g) but celcom no...

to compare those price, most always keep saying maxis take premium price but give oldschool tech, but what i see it isnt really true. celcom giving quite number of GB internet quota, but if ur speed isnt really that fast, how r u gonna finish that quota?(same to umobile, please read TnC, webe user too)
maxis indeed a bit more expansive compare to other telco, but it didnt fail me while i need it... somehow in Penang, some place like near to mountain area, digi n celcom give no signal, where maxis still all good, will this still mean maxis is expansive?

i made a speed test on the spot, maxis and Digi(with VoLTE enabled and icon above shown), this is the result to those who alwsys think maxis is for 'water fish' customer.

Attached Image Attached Image

Edit: i can confirm while on speed test, digi is running on LTE-A (4G+) but while i take ss, it suddently changed to 4g LOL... digi's fault...

honestly i believe WIFI calling is more important than VoLTE.. honestly.. i do not see a point in VoLTE, except better call quality. what do you want to do over the phone? listen to CD quality audio like the old days where u dial a 600-premium telephone number and select to listen to certain songs.

PLEASE maxis.. roll out WIFI calling.

i am currently on umobile, and u have no idea how much i saved using wifi calling when i am abroad for work. usually when i am abroad i am required to purchase local sim card for that country. having said that, thats to make calls to customers and receive calls from them in that country. To call my sweet heart back home, i return to hotel, connect to hotel wifi.. viola.. i can make phone calls to my darling just as if i never left malaysia.

we could use whatsapp call mah, why wifi calling? well, my darling unifi is extremely slow. too slow for even whatsapp voice call. needless to say about whatsapp video calls. i tried telegram call, duo call, facebook calls.. traditional call to her is the best, for me anyway.

another scenario, which is irritating. my office, maxis is horrible. the moment i walk out of the office, BOOM.. 4G+ enter office.. 1 to zero bar.. then it will go to H+.. then H.. then no signal. oddly umobile is rather strong in my office, at least in my cubicle. 4G with 3 bars.. walk out of office 4 bars. could be the spectrum used is not so good for penetrating walls.

connect to office wifi.. wifi calling is perfect.

now, if only i can have wifi calling on my company phone line, maxis, it will be purrrrrrfect.

Yes it is really an inconvenience when one is overseas. Wifi calling would ensure that the TAC sms notifications are well received?

maxis better roll out nicely, unlike the u-mobile and digi.

volte supposed to have faster call setup time, and crystal clear voice, unfortunately u-mobile and digi volte is the reverse, longer setup time and voice hmm.gif seems like no difference

maxis better roll out nicely, unlike the u-mobile and digi.

volte supposed to have faster call setup time, and crystal clear voice, unfortunately u-mobile and digi volte is the reverse, longer setup time and voice  hmm.gif  seems like no difference

I am enjoying VoLTE and VoWiFi on Digi network. Both of the services are awesome but like what people mentioned previously, the cons is that Digi disables VoWiFi while roaming outside of Malaysia.

A lot of us still patiently waiting for it. Luckily, I now use another telco which long ago has VoLTE as my primary line and keep the maxis as a secondary backup line.

There is no demand for Voice Over LTE in Malaysia. Many people are used to the low audio quality call.

Consumers should demand.

Maxis 4G is undoubtedly fast and stable, but for some peculiar reason, the data get's chewed up very rapidly even when not downloading.

That's why Maxis shareholders very happy with the company. Always prioritise shareholders ahead of consumers. They even let go of one of their spectrum because they are not using it. Now slowly upgrade their older spectrum to support 4G. Some area in kepong already get 4G on Band 1 instead of the usual Band 3 and 7. Sadly though speed still sucks.

I'm in overseas and connecting back to uMobile via VoWIFI.

How nice to have this features that I can get local call rate plus no roaming charge if I pick up any calls from overseas.

But for on my Maxis, non of this is available.

VoLTE and VoWIFI should come together.

With VoWIFI, you can receive calls even on Airplane Mode, as long as your phone is connected to WIFI, really zero roaming charges everywhere you go.

Maybe it hurts their bottom line if they have VoWIFI.

Even Digi have this weird condition where VoWIFI cannot works while roaming.

So far Umobile open up for all.

Maybe it hurts their bottom line if they have VoWIFI.

Even Digi have this weird condition where VoWIFI cannot works while roaming.

So far Umobile open up for all.
*
I agree with you about hurting their underlining pockets and revenue if there were to provide us with VoWIFI. They are so afraid of keeping up with the current tech offered by other telco's, which would one day come back to haunt them 😅

Yes, that would be really interesting if they do. I never saw them make any announcement regarding the VoLTE unless I missed it.

Apple Watch cellular version requires VoLTE to run its esim.
It’s for your info.

Unless otherwise and let’s wait 13 December.
So it may be it.

High possibility this will happen with the esim requirement. Welcoming this with open arms. Been waiting for a very long time for Maxis to make this move.

So sad, Premium branding telco but one of the slowest, if not slowest to rollout out VoLTE support. I guess nothing much we can do but wait patiently again for another few months 🤞🤞

Technically it should. But I am sceptical that Maxis would allow users to make VoWiFi calls when roaming overseas.

Yes, very unfortunate for all Maxis user, the last to receive the VoLTE feature. Now, I am very doubtful if they are even going to enable it this year.

Same here. Our phones are able to support VoLTE function but it has to be enabled, turned on by the telco end, which Maxis has yet to implement.

yup, and can do a simple test to verify
just make a voice call and see if the connection drops down from 4G to 3G or not.
if it drops down, then VoLTE is not enabled

I genuinely wonder why Maxis dare to brag about 5G if they can't even handle their 4G properly (in fact it's getting worse - been a user for 15 years)?

September already, nearing year end liao. Maxis still don't have VoLTE.

What if I contact Customer Service and complain about 4G dropping to 3G during calls, "innocently" act like don't know what is VoLTE. And then question why Maxis best network no 4G call while my friends all got.

Seriously, does it cost a lot for Maxis to enable VoLTE?

Guys, I heard that telcos in Malaysia gonna put a stop to 3G services. Does it means onward our call in the future relies on 4G?

Most probably never. It's like a lost cause since users have been waiting forever.

Just leave it open incase one day a miracle occurs. I still wonder if they would implement VoLTE before rolling out their 5G

That is what I read as well but their delay time after time of promises has lead me to take whatever they publicise with a pinch of salt.

VoLTE page gone. 404.

Maybe it's a sign for Vo5G? With free error 505 as well?

EDIT: Seems like every Maxis page that mentions about VoLTE has all been deleted. I wonder why.... 🤔

Early this morning I called 123. 1st level unable to help(reset network, bla3), asked to create a CI(call incident?) and pass the call to a network engineer. Upon checking, the VoLTE on my profile is not enabled and they will enable it by stages for iPhone users(not sure how they determine this). ETA 1 week (again, not sure if they just pick this timing to end the call)

Checked with my phone's hidden settings, "VoLTE Provisioned" is greyed out, means it's not enabled by the carrier.

Edit: Yay, my 300th post, finally get my 3rd Bintang.

Type *#*#4636#*#* in your phone dialer.

Alternatively, you can also download an app in Play Store, "Force 4G LTE".

Note: Don't set your phone to "LTE only" mode for now. I set it once some time ago and all calls cannot reach me.

It seems Maxis is turning on VoLTE by batches.
Here in Seremban, my mum's iPhone is VoLTE enabled and no need to fiddle with the settings.
My Note20 Ultra is not able to activate it yet.
Even I also try to put my sim inside my iPhone.

suppose have to turn on in settings unless it is on already

If they did not activate the VoLTE profile on our account, we cannot access it.

They are given the standard script to reply to customers query for VoLTE.
Standard reply if you don't get it now. blah blah blah with excuse by batches. Where in Maxshit website it says enabling by batches? Only for multi-sim, business accounts and prepaid only.

Standard reply if you don't get it now. blah blah blah with excuse by batches.  Where in Maxshit website it says enabling by batches?  Only for multi-sim, business accounts and prepaid only.
*
Hahah.. yeah.. i mentioned the same thing to the fella. Coz there’s no mention of batch roll out.

It is a shame really.
They take more than three years just to introduce VoLTE.
Whereas my Digi number is VoLTE ready since 2016.
And also VoWiFi ready.
I wonder how long they gonna take to introduce VoWiFi?

I don’t think they ever will. Too easy to avoid roaming call charges. In that sense, Umobile is the best

It is always on no matter what telco you are calling or receiving.
But based on what I understand, it only supports HD call between the same telco and both on VoLTE.
If one of the other person is non VoLTE or from other telco, the user that have VoLTE still have VoLTE and always 4G but did not have HD call.
Only typical call quality we get on 3G.

Yep.
Roaming is what makes them money.
Even Digi also got some restrictions when using VoWiFi in other countries.
I have tried it but it won’t connect to VoWiFi on Public WiFi during my time in SG.

Hi, there! VoLTE is provided automatically to all users EXCEPT those with the below plans:

- Hotlink prepaid
- Maxis postpaid with Share & Surf i.e. multi SIM one number
- Enteprise segment

You can already use the VoLTE if :

- Your mobile device support VoLTE and you have enabled it
- You are within 4G coverage domestically

Kindly note that the component is released in batches by our network team to avoid any further complications or issues. You may refer to https://www.maxis.com.my/about-maxis/maxis-.../volte/#devices for further information on the devices that have been released.

Just called Maxis again, customer service told me that the VoLTE are still under testing for selected users only. It is yet to be launched for all users. Still no exact time frame for the exact launch yet. They need one month to test on the stability before they will be able to launch it for the general public.

Are you Klang Valley? I think they are afraid the infrastructure can't handle so many people without adequate testing

When I was with digi, VoLTE at my university always failed, making me sound like a robot

i'm guessing they're trying to avoid destroying their reputation among the professions and high end users who rely on their networks stability and reliability

my cousin in ipoh has it already btw

Now we understand why Maxshit didn't want to roll out VoLTE earlier.
Its network is lousier than its peers in Malaysia and will face issues if they roll it out.
Terrible and horrible service and yet charging high premium fees.

This is really a joke.
Maxshit should have tested this feature 100% reliable before rolling it out, and it had years to test it. First Malaysian telco launched it years ago.
Not trial and error is not a option at the customers' experience.

Actually me too. I want to have 4G while call come in. Very annoying when it drops to 3G and internet putus, everything goes haywire. Sometimes Waze also fed up with Maxis changing to 3G.

We pay premium for their service, we should have gotten the VoLTE years ago.
Yet the cheapest telco in Malaysia got VoLTE first, and also got VoWiFi first.
I wonder why it takes Maxis so long to launch this?

I think so. Maybe based on population density and importance of stability in that location.

I live right next to University Malaya Hospital, 4G here has always been bad with fluctuating signal strength at different times of the day.

I don’t expect to get anytime soon 😂

have you tried to move to other locations? as far as I know it is account dependent as one of my family member has it on Note 20 ultra while our Iphones are not available yet on the same location.

I wonder would Maxis also introduce VoWiFi in the future? Might be beneficial for those who have weak indoors connection, and also for those using VoWiFi to call back home from overseas.

If its offered - maybe I'll go get one for my tablet - my Maxis data barely used on my phone. Maybe with a tablet it can be utilized better.

I think you need to manually enable VoLTE at the Mobile Data of your iPhone. Not automatically enable.
And there is no VoLTE icon for iPhone.

You can select which SIM card to receive call but not 2 at a time.
you have to pay RM15 per month for extra sim, sharable data with your main line but not call or SMS

When I received call maxis staff I think they one the of stupid staffs I ever seen he not understand properly what I’m talking about simply saying ( heavy congestion area means VoLTE doesn’t work) LOL even my sister using her sim in same are. Digi who had VoLTE many years they never been switched to 3G even I had heavy crowded places 😑

Many times when I am using my phone to hotspot my laptop and when I make call, basically you lose your hotspot connectivity. It is annoying when you need to check something online while talking to the person on the phone. With VoLTE, you can avoid this.

What about when you travelling busy using Waze suddenly you receiving calls as emergency?? Then your 3G comes it and your Waze starts to act up then you will be loss many of people faced it even during hotspots via laptop
*
Good point. I always have problem when truecaller pops up with unknown number. When I get inkambing call, the network data switches from 4g to 3g and its giving any apps a hard time to retrieve data from the Internet.

Bruh they never said that I should wait until November 3 instead of that their staffs giving me silly reasons like ( i never known about VoLTE) I used VoLTE with Digi many years for now smile.gif
If he/ she said that I need wait November 3 means I won’t complain then bro. FAQ stated like that but why maxis staffs can’t have proper answer? I really don’t know what their Managements are teaching them!!!

Indeed. Glad to know that since the Note 10 series can make volte call eventhough they are not listed in the supported device list. At least that would solve some problems on their end in future. Hopefully, older device will be supported when volte has been fully rolled out nation wide. What concerns me now is whether we have to change SIM or not to get volte. Is changing SIM considered as renewing the contract? I hope not sweat.gif

The problem is Note 10 Plus still not support for VOLTE. Is been a while since the day launched. Apple iPhone 7 onwards are listed in their supported device list, whereas Samsung mobile phones are put aside. Try to compare Digi or uMobile, if launched VOLTE, should be applicable to most variant of the smartphones with latest Android OS or iOS, not based on selective devices.

When it comes to support, I believe anywhere in this world iPhone will be placed at the top in priority list. And it's kinda unfair since iPhone 7 was released so many years ago while androids that were launched a year before don't get much attention
Yeah, digi is the best when launching volte. What not they support vowifi too. I think if it weren't for government to force telco to support volte, we won't be getting them anytime sooner.

No need to change Sim bro for example my mom’s 5 years old Digi sim still supporting VoLTE 4G+ network on Note 10+ nowadays telco companies are smart enough hope network providers won’t force us to change new sim to support 5G

LOl Apple always being premium brand most telco and app developers only giving most priority to iPhones plus even old iPhone 7 Plus still runs newer games and apps as their iOS always been optimized

And yes if government not announced Jendela/ shut of 3G I think we must stick on 3G as Maxis never been care of it as they only focusing Fibre and 5G

Remember last time YES & DIGI launched their VoLTE, also specific models can support despite some models already VoLTE ready in other countries.
I see iPhone 7 is a 2016 phone versus Oppo, Huawei Samsung all are 2019/2020 phones ... maybe device manufacturers don't want to turn on the feature for them ... indirectly ask people to buy new phone

Majority of the smartphones in the list are non-iOS.
Some people using Note20 here already said can use VoLTE which confirmed is non-iOS devices.
Those using android phone in the list should just manual firmware upgrade to try ...
Those phone not in the list can pray hard ...

Majority of the smartphones in the list are non-iOS.
Some people using Note20 here already said can use VoLTE which confirmed is non-iOS devices.
Those using android phone in the list should just manual firmware upgrade to try ...
Those phone not in the list can pray hard ...
*
This is totally unfair for Android users. Seriously, no point to use Maxis anymore since this is the practice they deployed for their service. Only latest Note 20 support but not Note 10? How many users using Samsung phones in the market? 1 year old phone not support whereas iPhone 7 onwards can support. Totally upset.

My iphone XR also having volte now. Those who still yet to get it, you may try to restart your phone. I have VOLTE after i restart my phone.
*
Thank you dude after I enable VoLTE yesterday night then now I restart now I’m getting VoLTE on my iPhone 7 Plus calls not connect instantly like Digi but still ok
I will try swap my sim to Note10+ to check VoLTE work or not
My plan : Supplementary Maxis One Prime user

Actually the process is pretty easy. Firmware upgraded to latest version and enabled VOLTE from Sim Card will do. Why make so much requirement and said our 1 year old phone not supported? This part in fact is ridiculous to published it from their Maxis portal.

As you said, firmware upgrade to latest (device manufacturers control this) and enable VoLTE from SIM (operator control this)
I think device manufacturers are the one not upgrading their firmware to enable VoLTE for Maxis.
Like iPhone always get the latest firmware upgrade every year when Apple intro new iOS, Android (Samsung, Oppo, Huawei) can't say the same ...
Is there a Samsung thread we can complain hehe ... i want to complain also

I understand that business line volte will be activated on later phase, but is there anyone here on business line got their volte activated?

Anyone from kota damansara or rawang got volte activated?

Sorry I'm just too excited, eventhough it's just a voice call only lol

I am using Realme 5 Pro, not in the list from Maxis. No VoLTE as expected.

Let's see how long it takes to reach me.

Better call them directly and clarify this matter. If they cannot solve within a reasonable time, will take to consumer tribunal for next escalation.

The plan i signed with maxis does not indicate they will offer VoLTE for free or offer VoLTE in specific. Tribunal will layan this kind of demand?
Is like the car i bought only support diesel not RON95, so i complain to SHELL why my car can't pump their RON95 and expect them to solve the problem?

Better call 123 and isolate your problem to them hope you can get enable in your smartphone because Digi enabling VoLTE most of OnePlus Realme smartphones but call them after Nov4 as they said only by Nov4 VoLTE would be upgraded

What plan and phone you are using now?
They have clearly stated only Maxis Postpaid consumer and Hotlink Postpaid for the first phase.
For Business and Hotlink Prepaid customers will be activated on the later phase.
Maybe they don't want to release it simultaneously so that if got any issues later, they will not affect many customers.

For me is not the plan problem, just my device is not listed as supported VoLTE in Maxis. I'm using Note10+.
So can only wait.
But another forumer suggests to launch complaint to tribunal cause the phone not supported ... lol

I don't think there is anything wrong if a person decided to proceed with consumer tribunal. It is up to the person point of view.

The strange thing is why Note 10 lite got VOLTE but not Note 10 Plus? Isn't that both phones are under the same year manufactured?

maxis faq says all eligible customers will be able to use VoLTE from 4/11.. so if didn't enable by tomorrow, something is wrong?

inb4 that "Note 10 Lite" under Xiaomi category is actually supposed to be Samsung, no wonder so many reports of Note10 Lite working.. honestly doesn't seem reliable, redmi note 9 and 9 pro supported but not 9s??

It seems based on what I saw, they push a special APN to get that VoLTE.
My Note20 Ultra have two extra APN added, IMS and XCAP.
I noticed it 3 weeks ago they added it.
Whereas my friend who uses an incompatible phone does not have that two extra APN besides unet.
She uses Redmi Note 8.
So in this case, maybe Maxis does push the APN based on the phone.
BTW I did try to input the IMS APN into my friend’s phone settings but did not work.
It does not show up at all.

qot one question:

currently if LTE signal no good then it will drop to H or H+.

Moving forward, no more 3G (H or H+) then when LTE signal is no good, will the signal fall back all the way to 2G or Edge ? Since 2G signal is still there.

Even if the signal is strong, it will still occasionally fall to 3G. Just sharing my experience on Digi VoLTE which i have been using for over 4 years now.

Yep.
Digi VoLTE is not so stable.
I have been using it on my iPhone for 4 years, it is really unstable.
Sometimes when calling, it suddenly drops to 3G for no reason even with a good 3 to 4 bar signal.
On Maxis, it is way stable.
Consistent VoLTE in these few days I use since they enabled it.

How fast the call (outgoing) get connected on maxis VoLTE? For DiGi and Celcom, call connected almost instantly like around 1 sec only.

True there’s no point of VoLTE
Day 2 I’m using VoLTE definitely I’m noticing in voice clarity and it’s works well in 4G coverage area only in my house in downstairs in drop to 3G / 2G
Hope Maxis would launch Voice Over WiFi as they been struggling inside house in most of area

bro I’m been using Digi VoLTE on my iPhone 7 Plus many years and Digi WiFi calling and I would say I had good experience I never been switched to 3G ( except the places where Digi struggle for 4G signal) Call connects instantly so far I happy with it
In terms of Maxis VoLTE I’m noticing difference in Voice clarity and call connecting hope they expand many devices and customers out there

My house in KK has strong Digi signal especially on 1st floor. Digi 4G speed is around 100Mbps constant. Despite so, signal will still sometimes drop to 3G whilst on a call. Same thing is happening in my house in KL too but the reception in my house in KL is not as good as my house in KK.

For VoWIFI. I use it only when I’m overseas and I had used it in multiple countries in Europe, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand. There were times the signal changed to roaming from Digi WiFi Calling despite I was connected to the hotel free WiFi. I had experienced unstable Digi WiFi Calling in Kyoto (Japan) and London (UK). Hotel WiFi signal was strong but Digi WiFi Calling signal changed to roaming all of a sudden. But luckily, when that happened, the call dropped too. Therefore I didn’t get a bill shock.

Anyone notices a drop in signal strength after the activation of VoLTE? My area has been full strength 4G since before lockdown

All of a sudden these past two days it’s been at 1 bar when I’m connected to WiFi and when it turn off WiFi it goes to 2 bars but nothing more than that

I have a funny thought, whoever that is rolling out VoLTE might be lazy and used " *Note 10 Lite* " to identify Xiaomi Note 10 Lite, which is on the supported device list.

Samsung Note 10 Lite is just a collateral damage (or should say beneficiary?) from this act. Hahaha rclxms.gif

Anyone tried lying to Maxis to activate VoLTE?
I did that with Digi. Using Poco F1 which is definitely not tested by Digi

Told them I'm using iPhone and they activated my VoLTE instantly tongue.gif

Not sure if the same trick would work with Maxis laugh.gif

Just to inform that after update/reboot security patch level 1 Nov 2020 these 'un-supported' devices are able to get the Maxis VoLTE icon_idea.gif

s10e
s10+

And some findings, before the update/reboot, received a promotion call(non VoLTE related) from Maxis and the call are in HD - if no VoLTE icon, you guys can try to call 123 and see if there are in HD. And if they are in HD, try to reboot(without updating the latest security patch) and see if the VoLTE icon appear. Hope these helps. Thanks.

So it's true maxs volte is device dependent. Wish it's universal in the first place cry.gif

iOS doesn’t have any indication it only shows 4G when you connected to calls
As personally you can notice difference yourself in 3G calls and 4G calls
