My brother was asking why the internet connection was so slow. I came here to check and I find this. I have been connected to the same 115.133 ip for the past 5 days. I noticed the slowness loading websites, but I can download just fine. 512 kbit package, downloading at 60 KB/s.

Any one can confirm any internation network slow down currently. Access to *.my or lowyat.net speed OK. But international site suck.

subang jaya here. most international links keep on loading and loading and loading. constant refresh by banging on F5 will help. make sure no drinks near you ~ in case you take out the frustration on it. youtube main page loads but movies not loading. facebook poker totally 0%.

Unplugging & plugging my router/modem plug improves abit the connection, but international site still slow but at least it loaded fully unlike previously. My current ip is 60.52.74.xxx PJ area. Now testing playing MMO on US East coast server.

Stuck with 124.13.4x-5x IP in Subang Jaya area since 2 days ago. For the first few hours I couldn't believe it, torrent reached up to 70 kbps, and rapidshare download 100-150kbps. That was yesterday. Today, torrent can't even reach 5kbps and rapidshare 5-10kbps. STREAMYX SUX HARDCORE @#$@#$@#

Problem started this friday night for me. Am onn the 512 kbps but never got more than 115 kbps in reality. usually about 75 kbps. Not much better than dialup really. Even reading blogs is a problem.
My speedtest result. IP is 60.50.xxx.xxx in Cheras area in KL. To server in KL. Ping 61 551 Download 255 Upload Server in New York Ping 364 165 Download 248 Upload California Ping 365 569 Download 120 Upload London server, cannot even ping! |

I think it's cause by ip you connect with...yesterday i get 60.48.0.xx , RS downloading with cogent and global crossing ok, still can get at 160+...but after restart...get 60.50.xx.xx and 60.52.xx.xx.xx....damn...between 60 in my area is stable actually..but not this time...

Anyone tried downloading from megaupload? Since yesterday I've been downloading from MU at 0~7kB/s on 60.54.xx, 60.53.xxx, 60.48.xxx, 118.xxx, 124.xxx
A 200mb file took me a whole day to donwload |

I have been having problem since 2 weeks ago, constant disconnection from playing dow2, most sites never finish loading.... if they have problem why dont they tell us then at least we can expect it and not looking like a deer with the headlight, this really sucks... hope tm die and go to hell.

Not only slow, a lot of sites become broken... missing images, scripts, etc...

Sir, As an expat (UK citizen) working to keep your oil and gas industry operating I am writing to express my shock and disgust at the very poor quality and availability of internet services in your country. I have worked and lived in many countries but have never experienced such a disgraceful service in a so called developed country. The more I research into this problem the more I see what is a majority of the client base of TM Net that have completely lost faith in the capabilities of this company to provide an effect service. Take the last few days for instance; connections to the rest of the world are so slow that it is practically non existent and what makes it even worse is that TM Net do not, and very rarely do, make a public announcement of any problems being experienced. They give the impression that because they are the sole providers in Malaysia that they are not accountable to their client base and what is even more disconcerting not accountable to the government of Malaysial; a country that they are bringing into disrepute. below is my point of view of this slow speed chaos :
Jaring, AIMS, Tmnet, NTT all of this datacenter here at malaysia using TM backbone to get connected to oversea.. the main core problem here is with the interconnection here at TM line to outside world. I am Ex-TM LSS( Leasedline and Switch Services) Team (2002-2006). Managing Leasedline from 256k up to STM64 node that interconnect the whole Malaysia including sabah and sarawak. Usually TM network are using RING topo where you can still have backup line for reroute purpose. I am assuming the main route to connect with other datacenter at US/UK or Jap has been failure so the are now using the other route which is the longer way.. That makes the browsing to other website that using outside server taking very slow as it use longer route plus every one now using that one line making the route even jammed! It might not a problem in our part (malaysian) but rather external part like underwater cabling ect.. I just hope that TM LSS and PCN international team will resolve this issue as fast as possible. |

then TM should put up a notice for its users...like the last time when TM blame on the cable problem...this time its just SILENT....so of course we users will blame TM...some more this is almost a week problem for most of us here....and their CS...on a break...

Anyone know why since...20th Feb 2009, streamyx has been slow? My downloads and torrents are bullshyt speed, facebook, wikipedia all load damn slow. My online poker is slow as hell, 1st time, I can't play without lagging 50% of my hands.
Funny enough, youtube loads normally...anyone know the cause? |

i call them. they always say the same thing..troubleshoot? "ur modem light blink?" "got connect the wires properly?" blablabla....so fed up...maybe is my phone line problem...my msn also keep on DC.

anyone can get the bandwidth statistics for these 2 days at taiwan hinet server? i remember last time some forumer showed some graph showing the bandwidth transfers over 1 day / 1 week / 1 month for malaysia, singapore, etc. etc...
if we can get that...we can prove the total bandwidth out and in these 2 days are only 10-30% of normal days... |

as far as i know IP 60.xxx, 118.xxx, 115.xxx all being routed thru london then to US. unless undersea cable broken again like that time, they shouldnt be routing us 1/2 way around the world.
maybe they're too cheap to pay for routing thru japan/australia, over the pacific to hawaii then to west coast usa. |

Before it was frequent disconnection (DSL blinking issue) Now it is slow and sometimes can't even load. Not happening to local server but international servers such as United States Web Servers. |

Yes. 60.53 and 60.49 is proven to be working really fine. Right now i couldnt get 60.49 IP now after 3 hours of try outs. If you happen to dial an IP that is usable, do no hesitate to share it and make sure not to off your modem nor your computer.

when i in australia before, i paid A$50 per month for internet, it's a cable modem, unlimit time and D/L (at the begining), line so stable and fast, D/L at least 10GB per day. Now in here, paid RM66, use normal phone line, sometimes D/L not even 100MB per day.

Well we all know TM... When they announce upgrade or maintenance, the best we can hope for is no downgrading, maintaining the current quality is fine; When they say it takes three days, the best we can hope for is it doesn't exceed a week.

For my another experiance in Terengganu : 115.132.xxx.xxx = SHITTY 115.134.xxx.xxx = SHITTY for all of you info i've been having only this 2 IP for my hometown connection for almost 1 year and nothing has been done by Streamyx even that i call and complain them.I notice this problem 1/2 year ago since my bro don't know anything about I.T and just use it.So now i already canceled my streamyx in my hometown and ask my bro to use maxis broadband since he didnt online much and not using much bandwith. i seldom get IP start with 60.xxx.xxx.xxx. Normally i get 118.100.xxx.xxx on every connect.But then now i'm on 118.101.xxx.xxx because i need to connect to foreign country online game.But still it sux compare previous days.Disconnect and connect again to get other IP.

I'm a Canadian living in KL and I can safely say that Streamyx is the shittiest internet I have ever used. Not only do you actually pay even more than we do in Canada, but it's also 50x slower. 5mbps cable in Canada is about 50 bucks a month and it works.
I've been here 2 yrs and the internet is about the only really bad thing I can think about with Malaysia. It actually hurts the economy really badly.. how can anyone conduct business here when they can't even load anything or buy things online? It's no wonder Malaysian e-commerce is about nil. TMNet's monopoly is really shameful and it's amazing everyone is just letting it go unchecked. How long can you handle being puppets for the government? I think international link has back to normal speed..

RS free download using Teleglobe server transfer rate almost 150+ kbps. since Jan 2009. Never slow for me.

yep they are definitely capping it though in a unusual way. Download is super slow (plan to downgrade since there's no change in speed anyway in terms of storage/month).
But youtube is fine for at least 3 times of streaming then after that the speed drop to almost nil. I have a feeling that they cap a download site if it is found that the user may potentially over do it, not sure how that works though. It happened since last Friday if I'm not mistaken. Should be correct I'm convinced. Well problem here in Subang Jaya remains. Slow like a snail. I hate monopolist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just spoke with customer call center, they said that they had numerous complaints of this problem starting 3 days ago, when the connection started to show severe degration, currently technicians are looking into the problem.
so i asked what is the cause, the customer support lady said that they are only informed to tell customers that there is a problem, but they are not told the cause and mayb even the technical team still cant find the cause or a solution, so it will take some time to fix it as it seems that the whole of MALAYSIA is experiencing this problem so it will take time and she said that all users are affected, including the business package subcribers... so i think its not throttling, as malaysia has alot of big companies relying on high speed internet, it would be really dumb to cap the business package subcribers too...mayb something more serious perhaps?? |

happen to me last friday also. Funny thing is...last week i was out of town for almost a week, then come back home very tired and sick also so i never use computer until friday when i dl one game. After that dl speed all become jialat.
last month and the month before that i can still dl normally and mind you i'm not the heavy dl torrent type. Here in pahang also slow as hell.. Whut suprises me even more is that just recently my package has been upgraded from 512kbps to 1mbps n the speed i get now is much2 slower than during my 512kbps package.. I really regret upgrading it

u can try to ask for rebate lah.
but i seriously think that it will be hard to get the rebate because the service is still USEABLE its not totally down lik no connection at all, its still running but at crappy speeds. to get rebate u must have a connection that is unoperational.... besides, how much rebate u can get from it? and is it worth you time spent to pressure those F*kers for rebate? and the stress and all? aih. this is malaysia and its Mimpi 2020 == ; ) |

Actually TM can be sued under negligence. MNC or big corporates will suffer a lot & might face loss due to the connection problem as they rely so much on high bandwidth on their domestic tasks.

What you get is from shitmyx's server, not directly from youtube. It's a local-to-local connection, so it's as fast as your connection to lowyat. |
