QUOTE(Pascal @ Feb 23 2009, 02:30 AM) I'm a Canadian living in KL and I can safely say that Streamyx is the shittiest internet I have ever used. Not only do you actually pay even more than we do in Canada, but it's also 50x slower. 5mbps cable in Canada is about 50 bucks a month and it works. I've been here 2 yrs and the internet is about the only really bad thing I can think about with Malaysia. It actually hurts the economy really badly.. how can anyone conduct business here when they can't even load anything or buy things online? It's no wonder Malaysian e-commerce is about nil. TMNet's monopoly is really shameful and it's amazing everyone is just letting it go unchecked. How long can you handle being puppets for the government? I know in Canada, it wouldn't take long for public displays of anger.. Totally agree with you there... Sadly over here opening up about anything that would practice the freedom of speech is taboo even if they say "it's perfectly fine and allowed". I think it's more like, "..sure you can..if you dare..". I'm pretty much sick and tired of it all really. I think corruption would be the first thing to oust before anything else, but that too is easier said than done. I'm glad that also the non-locals have also voiced out their opinions on this, maybe it will help garner more support and push these guys in the right direction. I don't want to be no puppet!

Yeah, it was only slightly fast for me until yesterday afternoon and now it's back to constipated broadband. Looks like I'll have to go back to using smoke signals again.

Really bad right now, both my 1mb package (1536/512 upstairs, 2048/512 downstairs) is crawling, though lowyat seems to load fine. Even googling is slow. youtube is dead. 118.101.*.*

The moment it hit near 11pm, it died. I can't even login to irc it seems. Lucky lowyat is working. Ahh, the beast is up to its old tricks.

QUOTE(PSY84 @ Mar 23 2009, 10:53 PM) seems like anything besides port 80 get blocked severely, i can't play online games anymore ping is like 1000-3000ms before january ping to US game server 100-200ms. I think tm block every port to prevent user from using torrent If it was something to block torrents, they would block the protocol itself and not ports. I'm having problems with online games as well, regardless of where it is hosted (with exception of Malaysia/Singapore side). What a headache. Speaking of which, alot of sites seem to be inaccessible as well internationally. Only youtube and lowyat remain at good speeds for me. Been cycling through 124.13.*, 118.100.*, 118.101.*, 124.82.*, 115.132.*. Usually 118.101.* is ok for my ps3 online games, but 124.82.* yields the overall better result for everything (including torrent). Oddly enough, 115.132.* at this very moment seems to be doing better than the other ips although it's still slow as hell. This stinks.

Yeah which is funny because the other sites I am trying to access which don't work aren't even in HK nor US. Sure, could also be that my traffic is trying to reach the destination via those two routes, but a traceroute quickly proves otherwise. Way to go tmnet!

QUOTE(Raikkonen @ Apr 2 2009, 07:35 PM) Yesterday I heard on the radio that Streamyx gonna be crappy again. Here we go again Hehe I don't think it can be "crappy again" since it wasn't very good in the first place ;p All joking aside, msn is getting dropped like hell since last night. The problems on my end became really apparent yesterday at 9pm give or take a few mins. It seems though that the previous crappy ip's for me are better than the usual fast ones - not that it makes much of a difference anyway, since I'm barely able to reach anywhere. Even irc is getting dropped every now and then. How lame.

QUOTE(Eugenet @ Apr 2 2009, 08:32 PM) Saw on the website Streamyx is giving 1 month rebate for new customers. I've been a TM customer since 2003 and when I wrote them about the poor service, they said I did not deserve any rebate. Wrote back to say I am quitting. Suddenly, the whole gloom is lifted. I am FREE!!! Lol good one. When you say "the whole gloom is lifted" did you mean that they were willing to give rebates after you said you want to quit, or did you mean free from the clutches of the tmnut?

Sabah, KK, Luyang. 124.82 = dead in the head 124.13 = better at international sites than the rest 115.132 = 2nd best for international 118.101 = better than 124.82 118.100 = haven't been getting this since the problem. Of course, this is only on my end.

QUOTE(InnerMax @ Apr 2 2009, 09:11 PM) I've been getting the same IP as yours and we both at luyang. Are you having problem accessing china's site? Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Hm, like which China sites? Any? I have only tested a few .cn sites and they load slow, but give me more to try and I'll tell you what the speed is like. I'm currently on 124.13

For those of you in KK Sabah, I read in the papers today that they are introducing a new broadband service here called RedTone or something. Seems interesting to check out, if all goes well with them then I might consider hopping on their service. It is broadband wireless though. Here's a link to their site http://www.redtone.com/http://www.redtone.com/services/data_wimax.phpThis post has been edited by Salamander: Apr 3 2009, 10:24 PM
