Not a good looking car. Hopefully the real one will be better. It is a prototype car so it will look ugly since some of part is not finalized yet.
Not sure if they can add more interior space. It is based on Savvy. But they do add in the boot (same as persona). If the pricing is below 30K for super basic model then it will sell very well. |

regardless of how bad it looks... as long as it's practical, priced at a right region, incorperating the latests qualities found on models like latest waja, persona, neo & savvy, i'm sure it'll attract many buyers... to the very least, it'll be a better vehicle than the saga its suppose to replace... same case like persona replacing the wira... |

Since it still wrap with heavy masking tape, it does not reveal much of its design. I believe the design will be much better than the dinosaga which happened will be phased out.
Hopefully it will carry more quality internally than current iswara. Some people will find it just perfect equal to its prices. Can't wait to see it making an impact to all the buyer. |

i dont get it at all ... basher or what ? in my opinion , there are many hot hatch become sedan in this world . why proton choose to use savvy is becasue it is goign to replace the iswara and the savvy is using the most basic and economical structure design , that is why they have chose savvy platform . meanwhile , yes , now it looks boxy . but i wonder why is there no one go and criticize the odd looking X3 which happen to be one of the worst looking bmw ever , or how about the hyundai accent which comes with pre-fitted ah beng elements ? |

Well we cant really comment on the look as the car now is heavily masked. Just wait until it is unmasked and then we can comment.
I think most malaysian are too used to japanese styled design that its hard for them to accept cars that are not designed by the japs. Looks are subjective anyway. Well most proton have beautiful design lets just hope that this car can deliver the same. Well if the space is as big as the savvy, which i think will be bigger. and is mated with the 1.3l campro and priced at the 35-38k region we will get a new super budget car in malaysia. with the masking tape surround its body, it does looks demm fugly. but its unfair to judge the car while its still on the run test. but looking at the concept of the car, it doesnt have the traits of neo, gen2, persona, or even savvy... i just dont understand what is the engineer is thinking.. they should be like merce or bemer... for every new car, they have the common traits so that people would know its merce/bemer.. anyway, im looking forward to it...

I did saw the BLM on the roads with black tapes driving around in USJ area once and i have to say its not an bad effort from proton, but as many says, i rest my judgement once the car is released by Jan 08.
But provided the price is right at 30k, it will definery giving perodua, naza and other budget car makers sleepless nights. |

I saw before and after pics of Satria Neo, that time it looked promising even with the tapes on...so I'm not too sure about this BLM since it already looks horrible with the tapes. But ya know...in the end I also can't imagine that anyone would wanna create an ugly car at this 'stage' of Proton's life. So I'm praying this is just some kinda bodywork road test |

its cameo.. they way they dressed up the car to hide the bodyline etc before the car goes to public. like this one, it is covered with black tape and boxy rear tail.. the plate number should be on the bonnet, not at the bumper itself if you look closely.

looking at the new photos, i believe the boxy tail is probably camouflage with paper box or something... it's unnatural, and they would be stupid if they really design the tail to be boxy like that.. and i say this car is not that bad looking after all.. at least better than the current saga..

The BLM is reported to use the 1.3 campro. Not sure whether this helps coz it is know the campro 1.3 i a fuel gruzzler. How i wish they use back the renault 1.2 engine.

The rear looks very Waja-ish.
It does look smaller than the Saga that it's supposed to replace. I hope the interior is improved over the Saga. It actually has potential to be bigger; the Savvy's wheelbase is actually slightly longer than the Saga's. Someone once told me that the 1.3 Campro engine is too big for the Savvy's bay. I hope that's not true, since the 1.3 Campro is actually quite powerful for its size and would fit a car like this well. If they somehow managed to mate the AMT Gearbox with the 1.3 Campro, I think this will make a pretty good car. Heck, even with the current Renault 1.2, I believe it can still manage reasonable 0-100 times. All I hope is for Proton to improve their quality. The Persona is a notable improvement, they should keep it up. To people who bash Persona and BLM because they are just variants of older models with asses, I'll ask you to look at cars like VW Jetta, BMW 1-series Coupe, Honda City and the Latio Sedan. And like a previously mentioned example, the Renault Clio sedan as well. You think it's cheap to design a car from the ground up? I'm not a blind Proton fanboy, heck, I used to be a basher. But I realise they are improving now. |

there's nothing wrong with the persona. IMO persona was THE best move Proton did in a long while. There's finally an affordable NOT-OUTDATED sedan, even I plan to get one. (sorry la Savvy. I see Persona, I don't want you already). which is why if you look at my post, I'm not judging it just yet. I want to see the actual stuff and the pricing before I decide to shoot. anyway, they had Waja and Gen2 (Gen2 is still a sporty sedan in my book. not a hatch) with Saga and Wira being 5-door hatch. Now with Waja + Gen2 and Persona and 1 more coming. Bottom line is that they're products will be the competitor of their own products should the pricing be close. and AFAIK Gen2 was called WRM - Wira Replacement Model. well, whatever it is i'm not going into Proton's history. my views may incite more debate. as mentioned earlier, I'll wait to see before I judge. |

Exactly, like I said, many geniuses here think designing a car from scratch is so cheap and easy. Heck, even changing a hatchback into a sedan isn't that straightforward.
They need to take a look at the world and see the reality - manufacturers are running out of ideas so some similarities are inevitable. Although I do wish that they kept the Savvy's front or at least improved it while still retaining a Proton identity. Maybe a Satria Neo kinda front look? Honda added 2 doors to their Integra DC5 to become the Civic. Honda added an ass to their Jazz to become the City. Toyota added an ass to their Yaris (and with less features) to become the Vios. Nissan added an ass to their Latio Sport to become the Latio sedan. Chevrolet (Daewoo actually) added an ass to their Aveo to become the Aveo notchback. Best one of all: Hyundai Sonata. The previous one looked like a Benz's front mated with a Jaguar's rear, while the current one looks so much like the pre-facelift Accord. Looking good at the same time. Hell, the racer boys' favourite Subaru (I have nothing against Subaru, in fact I love it too)... they now have their own version of the Boon/Passo/Myvi called the Subaru Justy. Copycat right? Wow, the revealed model actually looks not bad!
Knowing the typical Proton pricing, the car will probably be cheaper than the Savvy. I do think that they Savvy's price should be reduced slightly somewhat, to have a bigger price gap between the Persona and the Savvy. If I were to choose a Savvy over the Persona, it would be the following reasons (besides price): - I don't regularly carry more than 1 or 2 passengers. - I want a car with low FC. - I want a more fun-to-drive car than a Persona. - I want a smaller car than the Persona (maybe because of limited house parking space, inexperienced driver etc.) Now, Gen2 and Persona is another matter. I see absolutely no reason why I would want a Gen2 over a Persona. Sportiness? Not quite... I'm not sure if Saga is a good name for it. But it is intended to replace the Saga anyway, so perhaps it might just work. It may very well be the ultimate Viva-killer, provided Proton keeps up the current trend of improving their QC and customer service. OT: I just thought of something. "Sagaris" sounds way cooler. Maybe the VIM is enough since P1 need to keep the price low. For the most basic model the current campro (w/o VIM/CPS) should be ok.
With all the demand for Persona hope they don't delay the launch date. |

the price of the viva initially is lower than the current one... infact is so low that viva will win da savvy vs viva market... hence why there was some intervention to increase the price of viva... wanna give hope to proton... and lets not forget that perodua has goverment interest in it, eventough its only less than 50%...

i think the colt is simply hideous, and the jazz's design is too messy.
i'm a fan of euro curves which proton are trying to implement in their designs btw, to a certain somebody, if your face is more than RM30k, don't buy this model then it's not as if you have to buy all proton models that come out! unless if that's the only thing you can afford... if so, don't complain... Most importantly, the car should meet practical requirements like interior space, fuel efficiency, comfort and safety first. Of course, I pray it won't be as ugly as the pre-facelift Savvy, which to me is a really good car inside. Fiat Multipla is another potentially good car with a hideous exterior. It is good to think globally and make a design that can sell worldwide. However it is diificult to get a design that is appealing to everybody. P1 main market is still Malaysia and they have a long way to go before they can succeed worldwide (especially europe). So the best way is to create something that at least can sell in your main market before trying to sell it outside your market.
It is hard to find such thing as "global taste". Manufacturers have to make a localize version of a product in order to sell it to a dfferent part of the world. |

for a car that is just a little bit bigger than the Savvy (ok, maybe a WEE more bigger), the way they try to incorporate all the proton design elements are good.
the old, general shape of the saga-family, the new hints from the Savvy line, more boot space, more headroom and we get the new BLM. of course it wont win against all those design houses that designs ferraris, porsches, volvos. They have more than 50 years expertise in-house, and i bet if you add all of their designer's working experiences, you will get a time older than the united states itself. But with our small team and limited years-of-expertise, to have a car designed in-house, in malaysia, with LOCAL knowledge and people, its very encouraging. And in the end, the target of the market holds the key to the design. Malaysian likes it 1)big 2) cheap 3) mostly pleasing to the eyes 4) cheap 5) economical to run 6) did i say cheap? . And to think, they are trying to develop this car within a small budget that , i think, is far less than what some famous artists shell out to buy a car or a house ( i've seen rich rich ppl buy a house for 20 mill US just like that), and coming out with this nice and sturdy design, bravo. Now Proton, if you are listening, please, make the interior nice. Not rich benz/bmw leather nice, but nice-to-the-touch nice. That is all i ask. |

Seems like Proton has changes now,they dont produce shit cars now.Persona looks ok on the road and looks 10x better than Gen 2.The styling on Persona looks quite nice. yeah last time i also hate the look of gen2 but the persona got something that better. maybe their price tag is too nice there.the campro may sound disgusting but it just a name only. not a problem there.. just enough proton can keep up built good and quality car now. no more ugly savvy from now.. |

that black and white pic is still BLM in camo. the front light is definitely different from Gen2 or Persona as that one is covered with black tape. the back is also still covered with black tape as usual.

The nama SAGA might still be retained, for national nostalgic and historic purposes, but there will be an addition for example SAGA- JENTUT, or SAGA- MEOW.. etc.. If Proton put too much effort and R&D on da design sure da development of BLM gonna hit high up..No need to do too fancy of a car..as long as its decent looking usable and economical sure it will attract alot of buyers..
I used to like Myvi's design but sooner or later it looked more like a girl's car..If one nv alter abit on da car im sure da driver(guys) will look like a girl driving.. |

Even the vanilla 1.3 campro churns out 90++ hp just think if CPS and VIm is added.. |
