Is there huge difference between i5 10300H vs i7 10750H?
Main usage: Adobe CC

Also, how about Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H? Will they perform well vs Intel counterparts? (In Adobe CC)

Thanks for reply!

Of course, we're comparing 4c8t and 6c12t. But it also depends on your usage?

For some Adobe programs, better use Intel CPU. Though Ryzen CPU isn't bad in CC

Hi guys! Need some help on getting a Windows laptop, been using Mac since like forever and now in need of a Windows laptop to do some works so I am truly clueless about it

1. Budget : RM2000-RM2500
2. Usage : Strictly office works, word/powerpoint/excel. Gonna deal with a lot of documents
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Big display is a must, because will open a lot of documents simultaneously. 15 inch maybe? Will only use in the office as main computer. Good processor with good multitasking ability. No need fancy graphic cards. Preferably something reliable with good after sales support.

Thanks!

Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

Don't mind srgb display, hope can have upgradable RAM(but don't mind if non-upgradable)

hi folks, advice needed :

1. Budget : max RM3K
2. Usage : light cad software, not much heavy rendering stuff, corel draw
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : prefer large display at 15', not much concern on battery and weight as usage is just within home

earlier on, ZM Fong had recomended Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43-R3B4 +RAM
this certainly looks much more cool compare Huawei D15 which i had in mind
quick question, when you say +RAM, do you foresee 8GB RAM might not be enough for the CAD tool and corel draw app?

just to be safe, this is the one you mentioned right?
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/MY/content/model/NH.Q6ZSM.001

how about this Lenovo (IdeaPad L340) about that price range but runs on i5-9300H

8GB is min nowadays, 16GB is recommended. If budget allows go for 16GB RAM

Yup that one, however I would highly suggest going for Legion 5 with newer Ryzen 4000 (even though over budget)

Avoid L340

note taken, appreciate the input
this one right?
https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/legion...5/p/88GMY501444
looks like with some discount code can get at 2999.2 https://www.lowyat.net/2020/213806/lenovo-l...malaysia-price/

so now i have shortlisted
1. Lenovo Legion 5 R4
2. Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43-R3B4 +RAM

Not sure whether you can extend your budget, but Legion 5 AMD with 80Wh battery is a good choice

Which is more important to you, display or CPU performance?

12hrs of battery life is a bit unrealistic

1. Budget : Max RM13500.
2. Usage : Coding, video editing, designing, gaming.
3. Requirements : Must be fast to do programming and rendering, reliable brand, max 15 inch display, great battery life, fast charging, not more than 2.5 kg in weight, nice feeling keyboard, min i7 - 10 generation, min 32GB RAM, min 1TB SSD.

I was thinking to take New Alienware M15 R3 - custom OR New Dell XPS 15 - custom.

Do you guys have any other recommendations?

Thanks.

Display>weight>battery life>speaker placement and camera quality

probably best battery life within the budget with rapid charge capability.

If you're fine with 1660Ti, can consider these (after applying coupon):
Legion 5i 15 customize / 81Y6005JMJ
Legion 5i 17 81Y80037MJ (80Wh battery)
Legion Y7000 SE 81NS0021MJ

So I need to get my mum a new laptop. Budget is around 1k to 2k. Just nothing exceeding 2.3k. Main purposes are web surfing, word processing, shows and videos, web conferencing (Zoom etc.). Dedicated GPU not needed. At least 8GB RAM and SSD is a must. If it's an Intel processor then must be a Core. If it's an AMD processor then must be a Ryzen. No size or display preference.

How does envy x360 (2020 ryzen 5) fare against similar priced alternatives? Looking for thin and light mainly for media usage and casual gaming (GTA V medium maybe?) High srgb not a must but good to have. Battery life > 5hrs would be good enough. Not necessarily have to be 2 in 1 laptop.

Since Legion 5 is out of budget, might want to look into Ultrabooks:
Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R8A9 / R43G
Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14 81X2002XMJ (with coupon applied)

Is there any 14 inch ultrabook around RM3k with upgradable RAM?

Doesn't matter 1 or 2 slots available. A lot of the suggested models have soldered on memory with no expansion possible like the Acer Swift. Prefer a Ryzen processor too but not compulsory.

8 GB seems kind of low for a laptop that uses shared memory.

16 GB soldered is okay too. My budget would be around 2.5k to 3.5k. Prefer a 14 inch but anything bigger is fine too as long as the weight is not exceeding 2 KG.

Thanks man. I think I'll go for the Helium 4/5. I was already considering it as the best option but when you and BeastX recommended the same, I decided to go for it.

Can take a look at Commandos Helium 5R

Thinkpad T14 / X13 Ryzen don't have promo yet

Maybe Zephyrus G14 but the 1650Ti model is above your budget, might want to wait for the 1650 model

Note that Photoshop might perform better in Intel based systems

Hi,

Looking to buy a new laptop to replace my asus zenbook UX390U. My benchmark is the dell xps13. I am looking for something similar or better perhaps. Heard a lot about Ryzen 4800. i Need something with very good processor, a lot of memory at least 8gb ram, a very good cooling system and minimal noise (very important), and decent battery life (will be plug in most of time anyway).

budget: less thank 8k
weight below 2kg, the lighter the better
can wait for a month or so if new models with better spec coming out soon.

thanks all

Actually got many options: Commandos Helium 4, Lenovo Ideapad Slim 5i 14 customize, Lenovo Ideapad S540-14IWL 81ND006XMJ / YMJ, Lenovo Thinkbook 14 customize, Lenovo Thinkpad E14 customize

Fine with low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?

please teach me:

can a laptop have a similar price with desktop with similar spec?
can a graphic card of laptop achieves as much as a desktop's could?

I am planning to build/buy for mid-range gaming (720P,30FPS is fine)。
Laptop is also considered because sometimes i need to bring my laptop to work (currently using a dying 6 years old laptop)

Also, how do you think of refurbished classic levono thinkpad like X220/X230, T420/T430 with prices around RM700+.

thanks

Hi everyone, need a laptop suggestion for my lecturer

1. Budget : RM3k - 4k
2. Usage : Office work only, microsoft softwares such as excel, powerpoint and words
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Lightweight, medium size display, maybe 15" and definitely not more than that. Battery life is not a big concern, just want a laptop for the price range

and another one for a friend of mine

1. Budget : RM4k
2. Usage : AutoCad, Catia, and maybe some gaming
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : she did mentioned she want a Ryzen processor, other than that, just a laptop that is below 4k

Thanks! thumbsup.gif

i think better with numpad, some boomers always need a standard layout for their preferences. a upgradeable RAM is much preferable, btw i did edit my post, need another recommendation for another laptop

Appreciate if anybody can help..

1. Budget : RM 3100 max. If can get RM 3k n below, even better.
2. Usage : Mostly for office work, microsoft softwares such as excel, powerpoint and words, browsing. Would also run Serato program but no gaming
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Priority towards lightweight 1.5kg or less, so I will accept 14" display size but if can get 15"....better. Prefer the best Ryzen 4000 range if possible. Battery life = doesn't really matter.

When do I need it? Latest by month end.

Wonder what r the option available now....

Can consider Commandos Helium 5R, for that budget it's hard to find 15 inch that has this light weight. No numpad though. Upgradeable x2 RAM, high sRGB display.

If you want 14 inch: Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R4KU. A bit over budget but 16GB RAM is valuable (due to non-upgradeable RAM). Low sRGB display

Other Ryzen 4000 options: Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R8A9 / R43G, Asus Vivobook M433I-AEB005TS / 6TS / 7TS / 8TS (poor CPU performance), Lenovo Flex 5 (mediocre build quality but very strong CPU performance)

As mentioned by ZM Fong....Commandos Helium 5R.... Note that with the 4800H processor (in that system) is allow to power up to 64W, it's performance almost doubles a 4700U variant that powers up to 25W....

This also puts 4800H processor equal to the desktop 3700X in most performance... the drawback being programs that require more cache, 4800H has less cache...

Exceed your budget though at RM 3299-3399

Max 4.5k best if less than 4k

For gaming

Since i sold my ps4, i wanted to get a gaming laptop to play games on ps4 with ideally similar performance, graphics and 60fps. So after quick research i realize most are selling 1650/ti which cannot run games like rdr2 at high setting with 60fps so would like to ask if ryzen 3500x will be better than ryzen 4600h if using 1660ti gpu. Or any other suggestion would be nice

Then no need that. No choice need to buy case and use as external storage.

So any recommendations after remove those 2 requirement?

Not sure want to go back to dell. Just after warranty finished last March. Then problem come.

hmm the lowest is 3500x instead of 3300x, would it be better if i could wait a few more months for ryzen 4000 series to mature and drive down the 3000 series price?

TQ for your reply and ZM Fong too. After pondering the whole night & morning, finalizing these 3 models, with a strict budget of 3k below.
Even went to the physical store to touch touch...lol
Happens that with 3K, you can't ask for more except to settle for Ryzen 5 4500U...

1) Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R8A9 / R43G (RM 2,599.00)
2) Dell 14 5000 Laptop(5405) (RM 2,899.00)
3) MSI Modern 14 b4m 025my (RM 2,999.00)

Can someone enlighten me which of these 3 models have the best display? After comparing their specs side by side, I still can't figure out which is the best.

Upgradeable RAM for MSI, not sure for Dell.
Whereas for hard drive, Acer has the upper hand.
But if to choose either Dell or MSI, worst scenario is to purchase an external drive shall there be a need for it in future time.

hmm....

Modern 14 should have high sRGB display and upgradeable RAM, but no reviews yet. If it's similar to the Intel version, the build quality is OKish...

Same with the Dell but considering their new models nowadays aren't that appealing...best bet would be Swift 3 (it doesn't have 2.5 inch bay)

This is why I hate modern laptop designs due to things like soldered down RAM + war on thickness that makes regular laptop upgrades impossible doh.gif

The only problem with that laptop is that the fan noise can be very loud, even louder than some DTR machines sweat.gif

1. Budget : about RM7000
2. Usage : Office Usage only, Microsoft office, online meetings and etc. No programming involved.
3. Requirements : looking for something with weight as priority. Currently eyeing on Fujitsu lifebook U938. Looking for something with similar specs on other brands if possible.

Understand that i7 might be overkill for office usages, but currently it's just a preference that I wish to go for. The laptop size is 13.3 inch for the one I'm looking for as well and weighs less than 1kg. 14 inch is fine as well but if possible something that stick to less than 1kg.

Thanks in advance!

1. Budget : RM3000 - RM3500
2. Usage : Graphic Design (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : High sRGB, 16gb RAM.

Was looking at Huawei Matebok 13 AMD, but out of stock everywhere. Need something ready stock. Thanks in advance!

Do they have store in JB?

While browsing, I come across this from Illigear.

https://store.illegear.com/ionic-series/214...r-ionic-14.html

I am not familiar with this brand or Commandos. How does it fare with your common known brand like Dell, HP, MSI etc?

Honestly speaking there aren't many options to choose from, maybe Commandos Helium 4 with 16GB RAM? Or Helium 5R

They get smoked by Ryzen 4000 at same price though.
