thanks guys for the confirmation. i found this article that goes into details on this. somehow 27w profile was supported by iphone x and xs but not enabled by apple. so no use in using higher than 18w charger for now unless apple decided to change this.

I did many PDs , the overall speed may slightly varies from each PD brand.
Actually is very safe to use any Pd charges.
Just the cable more important thing.

No extra charges but think IIRC you’ll need to add a sub-line. Lately there have been customers saying it’s out of stock.

I still prefer my main line to be in physical sim so that I can swap phone....having it changed to esim, while freeing up the sim slot would make me feel restricted to permanently have my main line in my XS Max.

No I am not Digi Infinite 150 user, but does the plan matters?
It is somehow intermittent, sometimes Google Maps works on Digi, sometimes after 5 minutes it works, and sometimes does not work at all.
I tried with other sim card on my XS Max (Maxis, Unifi) and it is working fine, so I dun think it's the phone setting problem then.
Already logged case to Digi but no resolution as well. vmad.gif

You facing the same problem on which phone and which IOS version?

Just report to Digi. They will say no issue, you need keep report and follow up. Take long time to solve the issue.

i think insist on refund should be ok... but that's when u buy from apple online...
maxis set am not sure... but they have done their part for u, only thing you can blame is unlucky for lemon phone.
a replacement phone is not a new phone also... most of it is refurbished phone...

i think insist on refund should be ok... but that's when u buy from apple online...
maxis set am not sure... but they have done their part for u, only thing you can blame is unlucky for lemon phone.
a replacement phone is not a new phone also... most of it is refurbished phone...

FYI

Every Apple Certified Refurbished product completes a rigorous refurbishment process that includes full testing that meets the same functional standards as new Apple products. Your refurbished device is truly “like new“ same goes to replacement unit, they are relative new too

To begin with, it’s impossible to compare our customer service vs US for two reasons: -

1. US provides better Consumer Protection by law
2. In US they have actual Apple Stores vs Apple authorised dealers here. The difference in service level is literally night and day.

I suppose what happened to your phone is bad luck but in most cases, if something is fixable, then definitely they won’t provide one for one replacement and will repair it instead.

Oh, and having folllowed the stories of the Mate 20 Pro green screen issues, I wouldn’t really say Huawei provides better service, but that’s my personal opinion smile.gif

Mine when there’s a problem with auto reboot after using it for 3 months, I talked to Apple customer service and asked me to bring my phone to IT World, after one day they called me to collect my phone and told me they can’t fix my phone so they replace it with new phone. Mine is Aussy and they replace it with MY.

My take is the minor upgrades in the XS is not worth the price difference (RM1400?). Also there has been some feedback that the XS battery life is not as good as the X.

Depends on your wallet bro. If it allows for Xs then by all means go for it. But X and Xs really not much difference. Unless you consider the Xs Max

Gonna try contest this with Apple service centre to get them exchange for new phone. what are the odds i can win this?

Do you have an impact point? Or it’s just a hairline crack? If it’s just a hairline crack, odds are the housing is not done properly and you’ll probably win in this case

no impact point, its literally a tiny L line in middle of screen

but when running a finger through it you can feel the grooves so its pretty deep

will they change to a refurb for me? or swap with new model? its abt 3 months old, since 28th Oct 2019

You’re likely covered
Apple's official policy on hairline cracks is that they are covered under the following conditions:

A single hairline crack or single hairline crack with a forked split (a crack that has split into two cracks.
The iPhone is under warranty.
The iPhone has no other damage to the glass or enclosure. No denting or drop damage.
Anything else is not covered.

Hi, anyone here have suggestion on alternative USB-PD power brick for iPhone fast charge? official one is quite pricey.

Just bought CHOETECH 18W USB-PD for MYR40++ with free type-C charging cable.

Previously purchased tronsmart WCP01 USB PD/QC4+ but out of stock till mid of march. Prices at MYR59.

Since I also own an android device, I’m looking for something that compatible for both 😅

Higher plan, cheaper phone. Not much la.. 10-20 a mnt only.

Just xploring....
My daughter kept saying her friend paid RM128 x24 in Maxis for iPhone XS Max.
Phone + data = RM128.

Maxis doesn’t have cheap plans! Minimum plan to buy iPhone is RM128 per month then need to add on the device price and add 6% tax, you’ll be paying close to RM300 a month or so.

Tempting to get those e-sim so that I can use dual sim on my iPhone, but suddenly realised once I go with e-sim, to change phone, I’ll need phone with e-sim support.

Sometimes I’ll transfer my sim to my android phone to use as hotspot to preserve my iPhone battery 😸

Yeah, that’s the flexibility of having physical sim cards. Not sure when other phone makers will start adopting this. Samsung’s latest S10 doesn’t. I wonder if any other Android phone launching during next week’s MWC will support eSIM.

Wait, what? It’s no longer called Durian Man? Hahaha, a shame! That was pretty unique. But the only way for it to work is with that particular app installed right, it won’t work natively?

It should be as easy as using an app to configure the e-sim on your phone. It will be a hassle if you need to go to the shop to do it and defeats the purpose of having this feature.

I use Sony MDR1000X for video consumption at home and for running/gym I use my old Jaybird X (first gen). Both devices kinda old but still work great! Not a fan of those buds coz I'm pretty sure I'll lose them laugh.gif

I think all maxis centres should have it, but not the dealers though. Nevertheless, let's wait for their official announcement tomorrow.

Thanks mate. Thinking to get all in one package like the Airpods but for gym it but the buds design doesn't really blocks out the noise compared to those in-ear. And I commute via train sometimes, wouldn't want to got pushed and Airpods to drop between the gap of the platform (the worst scenario I could think of LOL).

Probably will get the 3rd gen for video consumption at home too, tried it and was amazed by it. But for now will prioritize getting a true wireless one cos the microphone of my wireless earphones dragging down and not that comfy too. oh well, decisionssss. confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif

Ya, I tried the AirPods at Apple Orchard Road and wasn't impressed, plus it doesn't really fit my ears that well hence I'm pretty sure it might fall off laugh.gif Instead, I use my Jaybird with a pair of Comply foam tips and I'm happier with the fit and sound isolation during my workouts. The Sony on the other hand is excellent! thumbup.gif My only gripe about that was the 2nd and 3rd gen one is even better than my 1st gen one and cheaper too! Hahaha...

An upgrade incoming bro? Hahahahaha... the only thing that keeps pulling me back is the W1 chip in AirPods as I’m using both iPhone and MacBook. So it talks well with one another. Geez, I’m undecided right now. I’ll give it some thoughts to avoid impulse purchase for now.

Haha, no la, current devices still working well.

By the way, the rumour mill is saying there will be AirPods 2 incoming - probably next month. So best hold on to any purchase till the traditional Apple spring event smile.gif

Now that Maxis starts offering eSIM for iPhones, I am a looking to switch to a XS Max and dump both my current phones all together (yeah, is a TS but not owner right). but is there a way to run 2 WhatsApp and Telegrams? officially, not the "X" versions?

most importantly need both to be reliable and can backup to icloud or google.

IMHO, AirPod is the best Apple product released the past few years. I stopped using my more expensive Bose after I got it. The thing is, it doesn’t fit everyone’s ear, so test it first using the wired earbud included with your phone, if it fits, then AirPod is good to go. It won’t fell off if it fits. I’m taking train everyday as well.

If I were you I would wait for AirPod 2.

Point taken mate. True should wait for AirPods 2, by that time I could choose AirPods if the 2nd gen is a minor upgrade; saves me some bucks too.

There’s a few TWE out there with good quality sound.

Do remember you’ll need iOS 12.1 and above.

You can try Hoda, which I’m using for my XR at the moment, or BlueO, which is cheaper and my wife is using it on her XS Max. Both pretty good too.

I read somewhere, your QR code eSim can only be registered into 1 device. So the same qr code will not work on 2nd device and you’ll need to get replacement code if u change phone. Can someone confirm this?

I think I read this at FAQ page XOX black.

So it’ll work on 1 phone, even you factory reset, as long as it is the same phone, you can re-register your esim using the same QR code.

Btw, I love to swap sim between ios n android because only. Oth can complete my life haha

Hi Guys,

A thing that I found out after 5 months use of the dual physical sim, XS Max 64gb HK

I will have very slow cellular data on line 1 (almost half the speed or lower) whenever I use 2 sim or 2 active lines. I have changed Umobile to Digi as my main line thought it was Umobile giving bad coverage. But both (provider) poses the same issue whenever I use the 2nd sim (Yoodo).

When slow it can go below 1Mpbs.

Speed testing on 2nd line has no issue. The data line of 2nd line is fast.

Tried on ios12.1, ios12.1.1 and just recently 12.1.4

After I remove 2nd sim from phone. The speed goes back to normal.

So I guess it's not firmware issue. It's a hardware problem. Anyone here faced this when using 2 physical sim?

Thanks for the note. As I'm not on esim, hence I couldn't confirm.

I'm checking with some of the 2 physical sim users if they are having these issues. It was worst using ios 12 and ios12.1. The wifi also got affected with the earlier versions. Ios12.1.1 solved the wifi issues

I've tried two SIMs before on my HK XS Max, and both no issues with data speed. Primary Sim was maxis and secondary was Celcom. Could it just be a network issue?

It's not, when I remove 2nd sim, Primary Sim data doubled the speed. And you can see smooth consistent speed line on Speedtest. When 2nd sim is in, the speed line will be juddery.

So guess mine is faulty

Tried with my wife’s XS Max using single SIM, maxis: -

Attached Image

And this was with dual SIM, 2nd SIM being Celcom. Speedtest on the same maxis SIM: -

Attached Image

So I don’t think a second SIM should slow down the data speed of your first SIM.

Some clarifications on Maxis e-Sim as of today. Customers can only apply eSim if you do not have multi-sim package. The eSim is for single-sim package for now. They are still sorting out some technical issues (whatever it is) and will release "multi-sim eSim" in coming 1-2 weeks.

For a XS to last two days is pretty good. Lots of people complaining theirs can hardly last for a day, and battery health less than 100% even just after one or two months of ownership.

Ya, yours looks like very drastic difference. I think as a last resort before bringing it to a service centre you can try to reset and restore it first and see if it helps.

Well lucky me then mine can easily last 2 days with moderate usage. But i charge it every night at 50+ % ( supposedly the best way for battery conservation) also battery life still at 100% for me now after 3 months. biggrin.gif

Xs Max. Using the Crashguard/Dbrand combo. Downside to the crashguard is that it's quite slippery and it's insanely difficult to remove. Other than that, everything seems to be fine.

Don't like the solidsuit/any case that covers the whole back...especially since I have a phone skin at the back. Added layer and what not.

Have used Rhinoshield since the early days. Gotta say they've only been improving since.

If you don't mind a full body case, might wanna look into the Grip V2 (Dbrand). Interesting design and customisation option

My Battery level is 100% after 5 months of usage though.

I’ve tried having a clean empty phone on ios12.1.4 thinking that it will solve the issue. But no, still persist.

I am using Xs Max and opt for esim from Maxis. One way to save $ is to use Hotlink FLEX postpaid starting RM30(unlimited call/smm and 1GB), or choose other options with higher data. I put Digi RM80 plan at RM58 on Kedah offer(for a year) where Digi gives 10GB+10GB + 30GB youtube and unlimited call. So I have more than enough call and data most of the places I pay total at RM88(cheaper than the cheapest MOP at RM98). Happy with the speed and iOS UI.

However, I do face new issue with my Max, the 3D touch too sensitive, kick off everytime I swype regardless on Gboard or iOS original keyboard and on multi-apps.

Anyway has 3D touch issue with Xs Max?

Hi, is it true if we use fast charger, will degrade battery faster? I realised phone will be warmer if using fast charging compared to normal 5w or iPad’s 10w charger.

Theoretically yes, because heat is one of the factors that will degrade your battery faster. It's also why Apple gives us 5W chargers - to help us preserve our battery longer laugh.gif

For 5V-2.4A = 12W and 5V-3A = 18W charger with stock cable the result are the same.
No matter how in the end still degrade your battery health.

Unless you learn from Attw bro.. he always use with mcdodo or Baseus cables come with auto disconnected functionality.
Once it is fully charged and stop the current supply.

I thought our device will cut the power itself when the intended capacity ia achieved? How will it auto disconnect it? Means once full, it’ll stop charging and no lighting icon on our battery icon?

Our device no built in power cut off.
Once it’s fully charged, the current supply still remain on 0.1-5A until you power off.

Your answer is corrected. No power light up or bliking.
Again you can check your battery indicator has not showing on charging symbol bar.

The circle is on charging.

Apparently some people tested and the phone doesn't cut off the power completely. It still trickle charges with minimum intake of power.

I think the auto cut off is software side of thing leh.

Previously on my iphone 5, the charging symbol will change after reached 100% (it didn't change immediately upon reaching 100, change after maybe 10minutes), after update to newer ios it doesn't change anymore.

Instead of buying third party cable with cut off features, perhaps can charge using powerbank. Will cut off once battery full. I’m using pineng n xiaomi, both turn off after battery full.

Mcdodo and baseus look good in term of the cable built quality. However, they aren't MFI certified. Feel skeptical

Yup, built quality is really good. I’m sure it will also be more durable than the stock cables. I currently have both McDodo and Baseus ones, using since January this year and so far no issues. I guess it’s not MFI certified to keep the costs down.

Faster speed usually killing battery life.
I will prefer the non MFI for all time, except for rush out.
To me auto cut off power is the most gooding than the rest.
So far so good with mcdodo type c, I charge it every night before sleep.

If you wanna invest a cheap brand can consider for Momax from China. Bought 2 MFI type C haven’t ship yet.https://m.tb.cn/h.3DSZQAt?sm=55d41e

Ok.. do update here after you've gotten a reply from T&L. I bought mine from them too and am curious to find out more about their after sales service.

Hi All,

T&L was giving me alot of questions and workarounds that I’ve done already. And seriously, their reply is really slow. Each email reply takes almost 12-24hrs.

So, I was impatient, and log in an appointment call with Apple support. They called back, and they were mentioning there’s none of similar cases happened before. So, on the call, they ran a diagnostic check, and found no issue.

But, the support guy is really friend and help to check if the HK device is serviceable in Malaysia ? And the answer is YES.

So, I’m going ahead to Maccity 1U later to have this check.

For the questions that T&L buyers here, our phones are serviceable in Malaysia.

But, my first impression of T&L warranty support is not good.

Will update again after my visit with Maccity

If you want the dual physical sim need to claim from T&L.

Maccity gives out replacement, will downgrade your dual physical sim to single sim+eSIM

Push T&L for warranty claim. They have an office in KL.

Shopping for a charger & cable which support fast charging now. Had a look at Mcdodo taobao official store and their 29W charger that comes with a USB C- lightning cable is only selling for 98 RMB. Any recommendations benefon?

This international warranty has been discussed extensively before. "International warranty" its a hit and miss case. Some been able to claim, some not. There is still a risk.

Solidsuit microfiber here, so far so good. Only one thing I hate bout this case. Really hard to remove! 😬
*
How is it holding up? I'm also interested in the microfiber but I'm a little bit worried that it might wore out a lot faster
I'm just so confuse, because I hate the plain black's scrathy plastic feel and the carbon fiber look

*
uhh, I didn't use a skin on my XS, so I'll opt for shield with back plate, but I'm super worried that the microfiber might not held up as well as other material

If you're talking about the Crash Guard NX (The one that you can put a clear back plate/customise your own back plate), then I feel I should warn you that it scratches quite easily. I've only had mine for a few weeks and I removed it coz it got annoying with all the scratches.

I was actually talking about the solidsuit, the microfiber seems nice but not sure about the long term durability of that microfiber finish.

4 month user of RhinoShield microfibre solidsuit here. Not exactly long term but the microfibre is still nice and soft as day one. That said, I generally take good care of my devices, never leave it on rough, dirty or wet surfaces so I have no idea how it would fare under tougher conditions. What you should worry about is rather the hard plastic part of the case. I’ve only dropped it once, from my bed, so not exactly a tall drop. Instead of just scuff marks or scratches, the plastic coating peels off like skin leaving little torn skin bits sticking out. The peeling is localised to the point of impact so it’s not big, just a slight eyesore. Never tried peeling the plastic bits off because I’m worried doing so might increase the size of the “wound”.

Overall, I like it very much, especially that soft microfibre back, would be better if the case is less slippery.

Normal. This is a known issue as Apple uses inferior Intel modems vs the Qualcomm ones used by most Androids due to Apple's legal dispute with Qualcomm.

Lol... yeah there’s connectivity issue with intel flying around. At first I though it just the oroblem on connecting to WiFi / 4g. But never expect it will affect the connection speed, and the different are huge! Damn Intel, or else this gonna be my perfect phone.

But my previous iPhone 8 & 7+ got the same speed as Max.. apple getting left behind 😭

Anyone using Samsung s10e, 10/10+? Mind to share your experience? Damn tempted on the new “hardware”

I'm trying out the S10+ now bro. Great piece of hardware but software optimisation is still behind iOS. The 4100mAh battery doesn't get me the same mileage as my iPhone XR based on my normal usage (standby and screen on times combined)

It’s so light compare to our max. My hand can handle the size but cannot stand for the weight.

My hand is itching with the s10/+. Software wise still IOS better. No doubt.

Battery life worst than Xr huh? Could it because of Enxyos instead of snapdragon? Most of the YouTube review shows s10+ plus outperforms xr / xs max

Currently rocking the UAG plyo on my XS, and it's so hard to remove..but then again, I wouldn't feel secure knowing the case can be taken off easily.
Aaaand if you switch cases pretty frequently, it basically means that it'll give you some headroom for when it loosen up overtime.

Uhh...I have massive OCD, so it's probably not a case made for me lol
I have pretty small hand which handles the SE just fine, but the XS is just so much bigger, slippery case doesn't help at all. I guess I'll seek out other options then.
Thanks biggrin.gif

The thing with all those YouTube vids is that they measure screen on time usage and you don't need to be a rocket scientist to conclude the biggest battery will last the longest. In our day to day usage however idle battery drain is also a big factor and that's where iOS shines over Android. I can go 24 hours standby with 4 hours screen time and still have 50% on my XR. With that kinda usage and standby, my S10+ battery life is way below that. It's still early days though, only had the S10+ for a week. Will see if it gets better.

I kinda expected. Samsung or is it Android OS just can't get the battery right. The Note 9 was first Sammy with 4K battery. my Realme C with 42K battery beat it. Of course some will say due to screen difference but isn't AMOLED supposed to be power efficient or something like that ... some here keep singing that.

now lets see the M20 with 5K! that's all they do - increase RAM and battery size then say yes can last a whole day

PS. both Note 9 and S9 plus average use only WA, web, no gaming/ music/ navigation esp navi would've killed the battery faster

I think it’s more of a Samsung thing. I have another spare phone, an Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with stock Android and a massive 5000mAh battery. Power management is great but hardware wise, everything about it is as mediocre as it gets, which is to be expected for a RM600 phone laugh.gif

Makes me curious about a Pixel, if only it was available here officially.

Pixels have their own issues. Main standout is the camera. Like you say, if locally available with warranty then sure would have tried.

I have the same HK iPhone XR, and have gone dual sim in Singapore and Brunei thus far and signal strength is OK for my local SIM on roaming. Will try in Indonesia next week but haven't had a chance to try in Thailand yet. Could it be the network partner's issue?

Screen resolution and processor are also key factors in battery life. Mid range Android phones with huge batteries these days tend to last longer than flagship models because midrange processors consumes less power at the expense of tip top performance. But those things don't really matter to the average folk who don't game or use any resource intensive apps on their phones.

As for AMOLED vs LCD, it's not that AMOLED is more efficient, it's that AMOLED is capable of true black meaning individual pixels can turn off when not in use thus saving battery, unlike LCD in which the backlight must turn on when screen is on, even to display blacks. So unless you are always using your AMOLED with true black background in wallpaper, settings, apps etc., it's not much different from LCD. In fact, it might even consume more because AMOLED these days are generally brighter than LCD. Hence why XR is a battery beast.

Speaking of battery life, anyone used Huawei mate series? The battery can really last!

Yup, having used the iPhone X, XS Max, XR and currently trying the S10+ now, I can definitely vouch for that!

Hence why XR is a battery beast.

this

i find it really sad that manufacturers keep prioritising screen resolution but actually what everyone wants is long battery life.

>introduce OLED panels, with screen tech that are able to turn off individual pixels for lower power consumption
>brings in high ass resolution that drains battery more :x

like, imagine having a XR level resolution with 4000mah battery capacity. we could actually have devices that can last days for once since the smartphone era. it doenst help that why do people think higher ppi is useful, its kinda pointless on a device where once you hold beyond 1 feet, theyre the same sweat.gif

another gripe with apple nowadays is how come they will not put bigger capacity batteries inside. physical size wise the batteries in androids with bigger cap are almost similar to the XS/Max/XR. so how come? hmm.gif

with how efficient A12 is, we could be seeing a huge selling point for Apple customers

Exactly. If Apple had placed a 4000mAh battery in the XR it'll easily be the gold standard in battery life - of course, not counting that crazy 18,000mAh battery Energizer brick of a phone.

This was my XR back last month, doing slightly over 4 hours SOT on 20 hours of standby with another 50% juice remaining.

Here's my S10+ yesterday, also 20 hours on standby and 50% battery remaining - that's slightly under 4 hours SOT.

im very impressed too, its no magic nor trickery its just common sense. ditch the high reso that does nothing and use an extremely efficient SoC + great power management.

i start my day with 90-95% battery at 8am and ends at 8pm with 56% with average usage of 4hours+, thats incredible

everyone used to diss apple for putting in low cap batteries in iPhones and that we are paying more for less. but what they didnt notice is the amazing work Apple did where even a low cap battery is able to challenge the behemoth batteries of androids!

Right, which is why I cringe when I watch those YouTube videos comparing battery life by looping videos, apps and games continuously. That’s just not how us normal people use our phones. Standby drain is also a big part of battery performance and in that respect, Apple still holds an edge over their Android counterparts.

That probably gives them the excuse to keep putting smaller size batteries in our iPhones, which I don’t approve of either laugh.gif

Hey guys,

I am planning to get an iPhone XR/XS.

My current Note 9 allows me to run two Whatsapp numbers via 'dual messenger' feature in the phone settings.

Does the iPhone OS allow the XR/XS to also have such a feature to run two Whatsapp?

I don't wish to install a hack or 3rd party software/parallel apps to have this feature. Is there a built-in feature for this in the iPhone OS?

Hey guys, just wanna share some info Celcom gonna release eSIM ON 28 March 2019. It will available for iPhone XR, XS & XS Max at the moment. But they have told that it will open to Android phones as well should the eSIM feature available in the next coming smartphone. Guess what? I happen to be their eSIM Pilot Test and currently trying this feature. rclxm9.gif

Anyway, below are the screenshots taken from my iPhone XS Max.

Looks like not much innovation would be introduced in the upcoming iphone yet. The only thing worth noting for now would be the triple camera setup.

Just handed in my HK set Xs Max 64gb to Maccity. They tell me that I wont be getting a physical dual sim replacement. As it is controlled by MCMC. So, yeah, my warranty experience with T&L phone.

Reason I'm ok with it, coz Maccity provided a loan phone, I doubt that T&L will loan a phone to me in this replacement period

Most probably Apple asked Mac City to tend to your warranty because its the first phone they encounter this issue with. They could be needing the phone back for R&D purposes. What phone did they loan to you?

we dont know who is at fault really, our phones by default has been proven that if you register with foreign countries bank that supports apple pay, it works

but if using local cards, it rejects (i tried this too)

so remains to be seen who doesnt want to support. i had a feeling its apple who wants to bring it but they dont bother pursuing cause local bank is uninterested and predicted low demand. so in the end both mutually decided theres no need to

It is Apple who doesn't care about Malaysia market.

As a new payment system, Apple needs to get approval from bnm before the banks can support it.

Just hope that we are in the 40 countries list.

Should not affect as any glass is still transparent. Did you smudge the camera area while applying?

Xs Max, if your wife doesn't mind a heavier and bulkier phone with a bigger screen.

If she prefers something smaller then I'd probably pick an X over an XS due to the price difference.

If she uses the phone long term (above 2 years) then go for 256GB instead of 64GB.

Finally, got my replacement XS Max back.

MacCity handled the warranty. And initially, they gave me some issue saying that my phone (T&L) is a China Unicorn unit. They can’t process the warranty. It is only accepted for China Mobile.

After talking to Apple support again, and requesting Apple to make this warranty. They did as what Apple told them to.

And I’m unsure if this information is true. The technician mentioned that China Unicorn models have different bands compare to the rest of the world. So he is suspecting why I’m having the slow data issue. Which is not compatible with Malaysian bands.

Short story, Apple replaced me back with a local MY unit. E-Sim and Sim. I don’t have Maxis to try on the E-sim. So I can’t report back if my problem is still lingering on this new phone.

Anyone have issue with spotlight search ? Suddenly the spotlight search become very slow ( 10s to show the app that i typed ) . Happen since 2 days ago with no other problem except the slow show up of app when type the app i wanted to search.
Every setting is exactly the same as before never touch anything it just happen suddenly.
Tried soft reset , adjusting back and forth the siri & search setting with no improvement. The least i would want to do is doing a full restore so anyone have idea how to fix this ?
Google for solution but still cant find the solution. Wonder what make it very slow to show the app i search and its annoying because i rely on this very much.

Strange, I thought T&L sold HK models? Goes to show there is always an element of risk when buying parallel import stuffs. Anyway, glad your issue was resolved by Apple. I'd be sure to use your case as a reference in case anything goes wrong with both my XS Max and XR from T&L! laugh.gif

i tried both 256 and 64 for 3 months each, got to say the latter is more than enough in my case.
in terms of xs or max, i've tried xs -- max -- xs. i'm back to xs now. max is simply too big.

for 2018 model, it's the same phone; however they'll lock certain network and functions based on the said country. eg, they'll lock FaceTime calling in china and uae.
in terms of past model, it's a bit complicated, eg. all phone purchased from apple china will support all 3 networks (china mobile, china unicom, china telecom). however, if it's purchase from any of the above telco, it'll have limited compatibility.

So did they refused outright when you send in the phone initially? I mean before you spoke to Apple.

HK and China sets are the same dual physical sim bro. So they could have just passed you a China set without you knowing.

No such issue but seems like battery life is poorer on the 12.2. Or is it me only that is experiencing the drain?

Nope they didn't reject outright. But called me 2 days later to reject. Before I send in, I have already confirmed with Apple that MacCity can handle the warranty

HK or China, I'm unsure. But that's what the technician told me. I may truly got a lemon from T&L at the start.

Did you reach out to T&L for warranty claims? T&L offers 1 Year Seller Warranty.
They have a local partner in Malaysia Office to handle the replacement.

Claiming your warranty through T&L, by right they will replace another A2104 Dual SIM iPhone XS Max?

Although both China and Hong Kong iPhone XS Max is A2104, the extended model codes are different. You can find the information on your original box.

For instance:

China set ~ iPhone XS Max 64GB Gold (MT732CH/A)
Hong Kong set ~ iPhone XS Max 64GB Gold (MT732ZA/A)

It's not ethical that T&L gave you a China Unicorn set as they are advertising Hong Kong sets all along on Qoo10.

Although CH and HK A2104 have the same cellular bands, like asamalikum said they'll lock certain network and functions based on the corresponding country

Well that proves again IPhone don't have international warranty. Warranty is case by case basis and as per sole discretion of Apple and AASPs. But even if they reject, you could still send the phone back to T&L for RMA. nod.gif

I have asked them before, T&L will help to send your unit back to AASP HK for RMA (they don't repair themselves). So no issues here. But the issue of ethics is really there. We bought expecting it to be HK units. Luckily mine is ZA Hong Kong unit.

good for you.

Though very strange that Apple replaced a non local unit. Usually it's country specific.

Apple nice that way.

That's why they remind us at every event that their customer satisfaction is 98% or somewhere around that lines...

If that really is the iPhone 11 then this would be the first time I skip an iPhone upgrade since the iPhone 4S laugh.gif

Well that proves again IPhone don't have international warranty. Warranty is case by case basis and as per sole discretion of Apple and AASPs. But even if they reject, you could still send the phone back to T&L for RMA.  nod.gif

Yup, both my XR and XS Max are ZA HK units as well. Intend to dispose of them before the next iPhone launch so that I don't have any headaches after the warranty period expires! laugh.gif

True bro. A feature emphasized by the late Mr Jobs. Now if only we had an official store here ..
because the customer satisfaction from our local resellers hovers about the balance from above.
