I'm trying out the S10+ now bro. Great piece of hardware but software optimisation is still behind iOS. The 4100mAh battery doesn't get me the same mileage as my iPhone XR based on my normal usage (standby and screen on times combined)
*
I kinda expected. Samsung or is it Android OS just can't get the battery right. The Note 9 was first Sammy with 4K battery. my Realme C with 42K battery beat it. Of course some will say due to screen difference but isn't AMOLED supposed to be power efficient or something like that ... some here keep singing that.

now lets see the M20 with 5K! that's all they do - increase RAM and battery size then say yes can last a whole day

PS. both Note 9 and S9 plus average use only WA, web, no gaming/ music/ navigation esp navi would've killed the battery faster

I think it’s more of a Samsung thing. I have another spare phone, an Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with stock Android and a massive 5000mAh battery. Power management is great but hardware wise, everything about it is as mediocre as it gets, which is to be expected for a RM600 phone laugh.gif

Makes me curious about a Pixel, if only it was available here officially.
*
Pixels have their own issues. Main standout is the camera. Like you say, if locally available with warranty then sure would have tried.

Anyway apologies, this is XS thread, sorry to go out of topic.

Finally, got my replacement XS Max back.

MacCity handled the warranty. And initially, they gave me some issue saying that my phone (T&L) is a China Unicorn unit. They can’t process the warranty. It is only accepted for China Mobile.

After talking to Apple support again, and requesting Apple to make this warranty. They did as what Apple told them to.

And I’m unsure if this information is true. The technician mentioned that China Unicorn models have different bands compare to the rest of the world. So he is suspecting why I’m having the slow data issue. Which is not compatible with Malaysian bands.

Short story, Apple replaced me back with a local MY unit. E-Sim and Sim. I don’t have Maxis to try on the E-sim. So I can’t report back if my problem is still lingering on this new phone.
*
good for you.

Though very strange that Apple replaced a non local unit. Usually it's country specific.

Apple nice that way.

That's why they remind us at every event that their customer satisfaction is 98% or somewhere around that lines...

True bro. A feature emphasized by the late Mr Jobs. Now if only we had an official store here ..
because the customer satisfaction from our local resellers hovers about the balance from above.

Just reverted back to the XS Max from my XR coz wife wanted to try the XR. Almost instantaneously I can notice the display is warmer on the XS Max than the XR. Anyone else feels the same coming from an iPhone with LCD display?
*
that's better right? I'm sure after one week with the Max you won't go back

Hahaha, that decision won’t be up to me bro, my wife will decide in two weeks if she’ll want back the XS Max or if she’s happy with the XR.

Part of the reason with this experiment is also because the XS Max is 64GB and the XR is 128GB, and she’s already utilised just over 30GB where else I’m on 14GB only - I transfer photos to my MacBook religiously smile.gif

ha ha ok. anyway, out of curiosity, which do you prefer the LCD or the OLED?

Except that the black is deeper, I can hardly tell the difference, except for the warmer tone like I mentioned. Maybe I’m old and my eyes aren’t as sharp anymore, hahaha...

No bro, I think it's that Apple does the screens so well that can't tell any difference between the two biggrin.gif

Hi all, is Iphone Xs Max still a good buy or wait for Iphone XI? Have been using android for the past 5 years and want to have a simpler phone (IOS) as my 5 years old samsung is getting sluggish/hot/screen cracked/battery life drops a lot and 32gb not enough use. Mainly for work (documentation) /communication (whatsapp/line) / watching youtube at night / reddit / gaming (1 game only).

Btw, went to machines and looked for protection case and there are so damn many. Was eye-ing on itskin (thin), vanguard viva madrid (nice red outline).. UAG (tough).. which one do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I would wait for IP 11. With rumors of larger battery might as well wait.

last few years always September. Most probably the same this year. That's the launch only. Malaysian availability is a yearly guessing game in this forum. biggrin.gif

It's a good buy, but don't think it's worth the price - especially now. You may want to wait till September, that way even if you can't wait for the next gen iPhone to arrive or if it's too expensive (which it will most probably be), the current gen XS, XS Max and XR will get a price cut. For my money, the XR is a good buy right now but only if you can get significant discounts on it.

Very true. I'm hoping for a price reduction for the 8 plus. That phone is still worth and will be good to use for some years to come.

The Max I found disappointing was the battery life and Apple didn't utilize properly the large amount of screen estate. For a bigger screen should be add a few features instead of just a larger XS. Hope that effort shows up in iOS 13.

And yes the XR is more of a bargain.

hi people. off topic so apologies in advance.

The new iOS 13 apparently makes force touch/ 3D touch ineffective and Apple wants the long press feature on. This is from some of them who have the developer beta. Read in BGR.

What do you all think? How many of you all here feel force touch is a good one and should be developed further?

personally, I have started to like it a lot since last few months and wonder why they want to remove.

Singapore will get 3 since market is there as locals and tourists are aplenty and Thailand will get one more in the near future, meanwhile Kuala Lumpur gets 50% off from Huawei...

the usual last minute rumors! and then come September we can't wait for the date of launch. This year around mid- September?

Now the Note fever going on which will end soon when Mate 30 launches followed by iPhone and the usual criticism about "it's just same ol' thing" and end with Pixel 4 - which has a very suspicious similar camera set up to iPhone.

In between sprinkled by Xioami and Realme and maybe HTC.

No news about Nokia. Are they over?

Battery for sure welcome. Hope it lasts though. The current Max is disappointing with its battery life. iOS famous for battery standby management and watch the juice drain!
That’s for moderate daily use without gaming.

But 6G RAM is a surprise (if true)

Apple always justifies their premium prices one way or the other.

Wish we had Apple store here at least can get good service. Sure will beat the crap service by the so called local authorized centres. After sales service is not well here.

who knows an Apple store here may just increase the iPhone owners. Don't forget there's one in Bangkok - north and south of KL so chances are slim.

Well at least we will have the first flying car thumbup.gif
