Your area congested with many Infinite User. so they need to reduce your infinite number. Other full speed because they will use up the data quickly.

I suggest you cancel Infinite line because your area too congested.

I am using infinite 150 but doesn't have any issue for me.

BTW, even digi control your speed during peak hour, this is NOT a hard cap.
With limited bandwitdh, as network admin, they must control the traffic. Or else, you could see every plan of digi are facing 3-5m during peak hour or worse.

thankyou

Ya, I believe DiGi detect if you use bandwidth 24 hours means you're heavy user and you will get throttle during peak hour.

But hey, you can download to your heart content during non-peak hour.

DiGi is doing great job in capping TS speed during Peak Hour. I fully support this type of capping. Thanks DiGi.

RM150 for 5m still "a not bad deal" compare with streamyx.
This plan is not used to replace fibre, for demanding a 30m+ stable line.

Digi is good enough by using soft cap method. If [M] must use hard cap way.

Nope. It detect your line number to cap you. The cap is not based on IP address.

VPN can circumvent selective ports/services throttle but not blanket throttling. This seems to be blanket throttling.

Not a bad idea, I have a streamyx 8Mbps and Digi 150. Guess what, i could not get 4G where i live so i turn off 4G and use 3G, which is actually faster than using the 3/4G signal line. On DL, Digi 3G is still twice the speed of my Streamyx. So, i can totally see how one would replace the junky Streamyx. Just few street down where my brother live, i can get Digi 4G up to 40-60Mbps during off peak hours, hope Digi improve their network soon.

Use your current digi plan (if you have any) or buy a prepaid to test at the following time:
6am-8am (to test super off peak time)
10am-5pm (peak hour for commercial area)
8pm-12am (super peak hour for most area)

If the off peak hour is not much different or less than 30%. It consider not congested.
If difference is more than 80%, or less than 5m for 4G, it is congested.

Why not? Everyone have their own priority. I would like to have high speed data but little data. You like massive data but slower speed. Why you butthurt? console.gif

Digi buat kerja kot.. spectrum punya kerja.
Tunggu jer la sampai Disember 2017. Kalau masih ada masalah terminate digi.

Saya punya Celcom speed cecah 3mbps saja. Tunggu sampai SKMM punya kerja siap. Baru boleh decide spectrum atau digi capped speed. smile.gif

nope, tried it myself, the quota has been reset before I reach 300GB.
So it is truly unlimited

Some forumers claimed after 900GB , the quota reset and still can use for another 300GB

question about GPRS... if i exceed 5mb(using in jungle and only got 2G connection) is there any charge for it?
*
This 5mb GPRS is to prevent someone without a data plan, turned on data accidentally, give them a tolerance before being charged. That's why it is hidden and nothing important for it.

nope, tried it myself, the quota has been reset before I reach 300GB.
So it is truly unlimited

Some forumers claimed after 900GB , the quota reset and still can use for another 300GB

Excessive use of data not normally used by single or two person with multiple device.

The data used is probably look like being used in cybercafe and/or 10 person student house that keep downloading porn whole day.

I agree with your term but it is just not simply determine by data usage.
If it use for business purpose (since this plan is not commercial plan), 1kb already consider abuse.
If it use for individual, 10tb is still not consider abuse.

Individual use 10TB not making sense so it is abuse. Show me an individual alone use 1TB every month and I show you pig that can fly.

I don't know anyone can spend so much for a month. But it is just an example to explain to you that usage is not a guideline to determine someone abuse or not. Using TB as example maybe is too much, but 2-4hours streaming + some personal usage could be 200-300gb per month easily. And important is, this is "infinite(unlimited) plan, so usage should not become the term/guideline, but the contain is.
So digi is controlling by what to surf/download (eg: limited p2p / block illegal website), but not impose quota how many you can download.

200-300GB per month is ok. Not 1TB. 1TB show sign of abuse. 10TB show sign of illegal activities. Sometimes, just use data usage enough to determine the abuse.

If 1 person use, total data per month is 300gb with 20mbps. But if 10 person use probably per month usage is 3TB at 20mbps. And so to answer your question is yes, 10 person usage is data abuse.

So, what is the different between 1 person using 20Mbps x 24hrs and 10 persons using 20Mbps x24hrs? the total data usage would be same if calculated 20Mbps x 24hrs. No matter how many person using, total usage still 20Mbps, so how you define 10 persons using the total 20Mbps were abuse instead of 1 person using the total 20Mbps?

Not true. 1 person probably use 5 hours. But 10 person may use up to 24 hours. So data will be more.

Your thinking too simplified, you need to eat more pig brain soup. It will increase your brain capacity.

If defined by moral, yes, i will agree that this may be data abuse.
But this is a deal/business between a seller and a buyer. A willing to pay, and a willing to give, and it based on contract (or the tnc) which agreed by both.
And the hidden quota is 999GB, and i assume digi agree that this is an acceptable level for this plan before they conclude it as data abuse. This is the black & white, not something determined by a random usage, and everyone has different view on it.

And a business is based on moral (which is without black&white and how to justify), it would bring a lot of disaster.

Abuse does not have to be illegal according to TnC or law. It is just wrong thing to do. Example is abuse alcohol. You can drink all you want. It's not outlawed to drink massive amount of alcohol. But to drink a lot of alcohol abnormally is called alcohol abuse.

Alcohol is not really a good example to compare with the case from my view. Alcohol already a problem beginning when compare moral and religion, and it comes with limited quantity, and it may comes with problem when over drink it. Over download may not create problem (although maybe create congestion but it doesn't happen every time or every area).

And if i agree that data abuse is decided by quantity, still the amount is not decided by you or me, but digi.

If i give you a scenario like this. I spend 2TB per month. I use it to backup my 20 IPCAM to cloud for safety reason. How to you view this case?

That is special case which will not causing congestion because not many people upload. So it's not really good example. Not many people consume/download 2TB or data every month.

No, you point it out.
My argument is data abuse based on contents(how to you use it), not usage(how much you use it).
In some points, i very agree that majority of high usage involved with illegal download. BUT still, we cannot judge that simply seeing the amount only.

For telco's stand, digi release unlimited plan, the intention is utilizing the unused bandwidth to the niche market.

And i can tell you that, 2-3TB users definitely not the main reason who congest the network. 2TB usage probably equal to 100-200 normal usage users. But he are just spending 10mbps by average at the same time. But 100-200 normal usage users surfing at the same time, definitely kill the network more.

I am saying uploading is not congesting but downloading is.

And we can judge simply by looking at the amount downloaded. No way a normal person doing 2TB per month. This is amounting to abuse.

Yes, this is what i want to mean.

When network is congested, prioritize other users first. If no congested, share equal bandwidth.
If found high usage customers, check his background. If he spend on illegal activities, ban the server, or ban the user account.

Not simply judge or ban user simply because he spend X amount of data without proving what did he do.
This is not unlimited plan.

how are u going to judge by cases? If one uploads their video to youtube, their ipcam to youtube server or other server for almost 24hrs a day.. usage over 2TB a month vs someone who uses 1TB a month but uses it to download movies... pr0n.. but his activity only late at night while everyone sleeps. What type of user congest the tower more?

doesn't matter upload or download. The tower still constrained by these activity. I'd say uploading are more constraining to the tower.

This is not unlimited plan.

that fellow always talk about morale. u still have time to entertain him. if morale over flow, he should stop using & let other use the bandwidth.

Hi guys,

Need your advice aswell
Im planning to get the digi 150 Infinite plan however i am in contract with maxis with maxis one plan for 2 years
The 150 infinite plan is to replace my streamyx 1mb plan hence i am not using it for call/sms etc.
I do not need a router for wifi as I already have data on my phone. Need suggestions for a router that can connect with the digi 150 infinite directly to pc

Thank you and regards

one last question before I go
Will the dongle be degraded over time if in constant connected to pc?

If the durability is worthwhile then I might go for this.
Consider budget wise. Or worse come to worse might go for Huawei b593 and sacrifice portabilty for durability

don't buy dongle, cos you cant share across device... prefer either router + dongle, 3G/4G modem router or Router with build in Sim slot..
dongle is kinda age tech to me biggrin.gif

haha that is tru on age tech as now adays people are using routers instead.
Which router are you using at this point of time?

Now im choosing between these 2 :

Huawei B310 LTE Wireless Gateway Modem Router 150mb

Huawei B593 LTE Wireless Gateway Modem Router 100mb

Both also same price. difference is just the 150/100mb speed download.

How about the limitations by digi that only 5 maximum devices can be tethered simultaneously ? Is it true or we can connect more than 5 devices to the 4g router ? Please share your experience please. I want to get the i150 but this limitations kinda bothering me.

5 devices only limit to the hotspot pass, which is apply on i80 package only.
i150 is native tethering, which is unlimited for all.

That normal because your place 4G signal a little weak..
lock network to 4G only.
when not using the internet lock to 3G only.
speedtest >20mbps probally LTE band 7 2600mhz. Is your device support LTE band 3 ?

Just got it yesterday, it works well
Can get 19-25mbps 4g speed at my area (paka)
Seller also include power cable to usb so you can use it with powerbank
I also bought the antenna too, but doesn't like there's much speed difference with built in antenna

Only has 1 gigabit port for lan/wan
So you probably need to add switch to connect more lan cables

Quite nice price for rm200

bro B310 for RM200? where you get it? I am also plan to get a B310 and a 49dbi antenna.
May I know your speed test with phone compared to the router?
Now I am contemplating whether to take the gamble or not. My phone test show quite an unstable result from 5 to 20mbps on 4g lte. I am hoping with the B310 and the external antenna I am able to stabilise the connection and increase the speed.
Thanks

Right there on that link I shared, you can get cheap from taobao

Those are the speedtest I get on phone, pretty much the same when connected directly router

Mostly I'll be using the b310 with ws880 since I need to use openvpn for portforwarding purposes.

Guys, I just bought the i150 plan, porting out from maxis prepaid.
How long will it take? And how is the chronology?

Sim arrived > mnp porting out message arrived

OR

Mnp porting out message success > sim will be delivered ??

In the email, DIGI has stated : If you are switching to Digi from another telco via Mobile Number Portability (MNP), your device (if any) will only be delivered to you AFTER your switch to Digi is successful. This includes Pre-order and Backorder.

Mine was dex, item weight was less than 1 kg, so shipping fee was 20 yuan
Usually takes almost exactly a week
Yep, can use right because it's unlocked

As long as you can checkout that item on taobao then should be problem to purchase it.

I've bought a bunch of electronic item that should be considered' sensitive' but all arrived to my address just fine.

If you can't checkout that item at all then it's time to use taobao agent

Who cares about upload speed when you got awesome download speed? Go for it
Btw, you're using ip7 for the speedtest?

That dl speed is amazing thumbup.gif . You don't really need high upload speeds unless you upload videos on youtube. The only other time you use upload is when you send something through the net such as sending a whatsapp message, posting a status on fb, tweeting a tweet on twitter. 10Mbps upload is more than enough smile.gif

Am using this huawei e8278. So far am happy with the result and portability. Bought it RM160. Pair it with power bank when outside and USB power source when indoor.

I do carry a bag. So no biggie. Plus my power bank is bigger battery than any mifi in the market for sure. U can plug into car, power bank, computer or any USB sources. This device is less heat too.bear in mind this is LTEcat4 speed. Not yet LTE-A

this router only up to LTE Cat 4 150Mbps,.

try to look for LTE CAT 6 in order to enjoy LTE-A/ 4G+ faster 4G connection if you are in LTE-A coverages

I think this one also a good alternative if one's budget is not that great.. though cat4 not cat6, it does support LTE-A.. haven't found any LTE-A mifi or router less than RM500 locally..

Welcome smile.gif

the cheapest so far is RM350 exclude shipping.. maybe a good choice for those on a budget constraint..
personally I'll go for those huawei and zte ones for better performance and stability..
but I understand sometimes budget does not permit one to go for it..

After using tonnes of modems over the years and I have owned more than 20 modems and few MiFis throughout the whole journey, I still think Huawei performs the best and follows by ZTE. Though I'm not a fan of Huawei due to job related reason but it still does its work the best when it comes to wireless broadband stuff.

I have ordered E5186-22a and E5786-32a, both are with my friend now and she will bring over for me from China in mid of May. Remember only these variants work for Malaysia's 4G+. You may get cheaper in Taobao, but please check the variants and usually these two variants are more expensive and have lower stock quantity. The other variants may work for only 4G which I don't want. I want 4G+.

Can't wait. At the same time, I still have UniFi 50Mbps on top of my Infinite 150. doh.gif All for myself, I'm using them alone...

I have the plan to relocate my UniFi account to my sister's house once it is activated in her area or terminate when my contract ends, in few months time... Less than 6 months.

Mine only 1-2 bars indoor but can capture around 50Mbps on normal LTE MiFi and on my phone.. Only if it is strong like Celcom and Maxis in my area, I bet it will be faster. sad.gif Oh well, I do think it may help with my LTE-A router and MiFi.

I tried and same issue like his. Only applicable to videos which took instantly and shared in Moments.
But I have reported to my contacts in Digi and they are looking into it. If use VPN, then no issue.

Less than 6 months.

im interested to get this i150, and im planning to use it extensively for video streaming. but im concerned about p2p capping since my subscribed football streaming is using p2p streaming. Any idea to overcome this capping?

Ask for their Astro On the Go, no p2p.

For the price RM450, I finally pick Xiaomi 4A 16GB, rooted and mainly us as modem, easily to share to my PC, laptop even tablet, anytime, anywhere, battery quite good for continues FTP download, one single full charge can survive up to 14 hours for heavy usage. smile.gif

2 options

1) Try vpn with portforwarding, & open port for kodi on the router. With BT able to get max speed (depends on seeders), not so sure about kodi p2p streaming.

2) Just borrow astro otg id from family members ke

Running a trial on Digi prepaid daily unlimited before switching to Inifinte 150
Does E5186-61a support 4G+ or E5186-22a is needed for Digi?
I checked the price and it seems like 61a is much much cheaper in TB.

Managed to get my hands on a E5786 and just 1 corner of my house is giving 10Mbps at 3bars, which beats the 4Mbps TM I got right now.
Those using it, this thing easily overheat? found out need to restart after a few hours.

Hi bro, just call Digi CS and tell them to check. Since you have a point to argue where u get full P2P speed but buffering speed for Youtube.

I don't know the digi coverage map is accurate or not..

My case, from the digi coverage map website seem my place is not cover with either 4G and 3G network but when I check with actual digi sim card, it seem my place have a strong 4G connection (3bar)..

they give 3 in 1 sim bro. u can use it with normal sim, micro sim or nano sim without any adapter.

here easy example

you can check it in router settings whether it detect the modem or not..
from past experience my old 3420 with stock firmware had hard time to detect sierra while it easily detects my huawei modem..
*
how if the router setting didnt detect the modem?

what i cant understand is the modem and router works normal when i put my digi prepaid inside, turn on straight connect. when change to i150 then cannot connect at all bangwall.gif

4G LTE Advanced have (theoretically) peak download speeds that stand at around 300Mbps, while standard 4G LTE stands at 150Mbps. The concept is similar to HSDPA and HSDPA+.

if your device support 4G and in 4G zone then it should work.. if it's not means that your device does not lock to that 4G+ band

I'd say is best to get those cat6 mifi to achieve highest performance available...
if your on budget-conscious then any 4G lte that suit your budget is ok

try connecting this way bro.. work on my umobile sim but dunno bout digi..

put your i150 sim in any lte enabled phone, on lte data and connect to your 3420 using usb to micro usb cable..
on your phone enable usb tethering..
after that connect router to pc/laptop.. your pc/laptop should get internet.. no need to configure anything

Next i shall try buy 4G LTE yagi (Metteor-Link) x2 since my modem got 2 antenna slot  hmm.gif

Anyone got any experience using the antenna?

64% is good enough. It almost won't boost speed anymore, but will increase your ping if you buy antenna. But yagi gives you an option to change another tower when you face congestion.

I think congest is not my problem because im not living in middle of big city, just trying to get something more stable connection since right now the speed is up and down like download speed at IDM running from 600-700kbps and jump to 1.8mbps-2.4mbps then drop to zero doh.gif

Maybe because my modem dongle is inside the window, thus im thinking about antenna. So maybe can tarik more coverage from outside hmm.gif

RT-N12HP there is no usb port so does not support usb modem

Get one of these for best performance:

cat4 LTE CPE (D/U: 150/50)
Huawei B310s-22
Huawei E5180s-22
Huawei B315s-22

Cheapest solution maybe cat4 lte modem paired with tp-link mr3420.. If you're lucky both device can get RM300 or below

Your signal very strong already.
Download speed show at IDM x 8 that mbps speed.
Let download ubuntu latest iso during peak hours and early morning but not weekend. That is your max speed. Below 30mbps is LTE band 3.
4G LTE yagi (Metteor-Link) 2600mhz single band may help. Its band 7 or No Service.

Hi guys,

I am planning to subscribe to this digi 150 plan.
I have a few questions related to network setup.
Does anyone has any idea whether this setup will work?

user posted image

See my current setup and how I want it to change.
The 4g lte modem/router will be placed further from the living room, near window to get higher reception.
Gigabit lan cable is not possible in my case, so I have to add a wireless router in between to connect by wireless.
I am also not sure how/where to set the dns(adblock server) in this case.

Please advise.
Thanks.

Why dont just replace the ADSL to 4G router, and use external antenna put outside the windows?
Much simple and more efficent way.

What type of antennas would you recommend?

That's some complex setup there, what about using adblock feature on custom firmware router like tomato?

Because free cable that comes with external antenna cannot be longer than 2m, otherwise there will be signal loss.
I need to put the 4g lte router close to the window, which is upstairs, to make matter difficult it is a different house.

On my current setup, it works similarly that way.
I already setup my adblock server as the primary dns in Lede (a fork of OpenWRT) which is a vm in the server.
But not sure how can I do it in the new setup.

Hmm... not sure how is your situation but if me, i will think some solutions just replace the ADSL to 4G. I see your current setup, should be no problem, but increase some ping.
Quality cable for antenna can reach to 10m.
Cat 6 Lan can reach up to 100m.
What do different house mean? Next door or opposite street?

Upstairs is a different house. (imagine a shop house)
I just want to "tumpang" my 4g lte there because it has better signal and speed. So gigabit lan cable is not an option.
I just want all my devices, desktop and server can connect to the internet.

Before changed it to Infinite 80, I set the Bandwidth Limiter on my device and both 5mbps for my Down and Upload. Is enough actually.

But on Digi 5mbps, feel lag... I need the number, sure cant transfer ownership... For broadband, only 5GB hotspot.. Now enough... Better go for RM85 22GB...

Custom firmware that includes openvpn are only for routers.

I had similar issue like you before.
My speed up & down and i found the reason. It is because the band 3 & band 7 LTE keep switching between.
I disable the band 3, and this issue totally gone for me.

I had similar issue like you before.
My speed up & down and i found the reason. It is because the band 3 & band 7 LTE keep switching between.
I disable the band 3, and this issue totally gone for me.
*
how do u disable it ye?

i try connect my modem to mdma at my pc, but cannot detect one. dunno how i connect it last time hmm.gif

Look like is not device compatibility issue on my case. Changed new router. Good for almost a day without any issue.

Yes, YouTube buffering and ping timed out issues are back again. cry.gif

Anyone know how to check on Android phone? Tried LTE Discovery but got LTE band unknown there.

I bought the digi prepaid to test the speed first before buy the infinite. Ran the speed test throughout the house and got a good speed around 15 - 20 mbps. And my thought is, 'nice speed'... so I proceed with the purchase, and the sim card converted to infinite within an hour.

But, little did i know that time also play a major role in speed..........

and now anytime past 8 pm the speed crawling to 1 to 2 mbps, sometimes spike to 5 mpbs, but cant hold consistently. its been 2 nights like this. Cant even streaming properly.. sad.gif

Can complaint solve the issue? what's the most effective channel to complaint?

We almost in the same boat. Prepaid tested no issue. But actual testing with Infinite, I am facing YouTube buffering issue since day 1.

For me, phone call is the best method. Email and Facebook PM no response. Live chat is not helping much.

My contact from Digi just called me and Digi is working on this. Apparently it's those apps cannot accept Digi's frequency or something. Rest assured, the Infinite team is working on it.

Probably because so many people started to use Infinite (80/150), and Digi had to do something otherwise we'll have network congestion. Imo, they should stop new registration already. Otherwise, we might see silly things like real 500GB/1TB data cap, bandwidth throttling, etc (thanks to the abusers) shakehead.gif

Does the Huawei WS880 (with Xwrt-Vortex firmware) support a 4G LTE USB modem?

I am thinking of subscribing to Digi's Infinite 150 plan.

As I am already subscribed to Unifi, can I utilize the dual WAN feature,
or do I have to switch between Unifi and Infinite 150?

Why would you subscribe to Infinite 150 when you already have Unifi?

It makes no sense.

Anyway, according to my WS880 USB Application tab, you can use a 3G/4G USB modem.

You just need to use one that is compatible with Digi network and the WS880.

Click on "Support" to see a list of compatible USB modems.

user posted image

I think you can also use the dual WAN feature under the WAN tab.

BTW, I have not tried out USB tethering on the WS880 before. smile.gif

If you can find the way, please let me know and I wanna use dual WAN too. You know la we use the same router and firmware. tongue.gif
I will assume you have to use a compatible USB modem but I supposed it's not accepting many. Let me find a way to grab a modem. I have given most to my family. I may still have one or two, meanwhile if you know how please suggest. tongue.gif

I have UniFi 50M and Infinite 150 now. tongue.gif
I have both now for myself. tongue.gif

Thanks for sharing.

Presently, how do you access Digi Infinite 150?

You are indeed a lucky gal.

Using both Unifi and Infinite 150 ALL BY YOURSELF. rclxms.gif

I remember I checked the list before and none of my Huawei modems is accepted.

At the moment I'm using Huawei E5776, the predecessor of E5786 while waiting for E5186 and E5786 to reach me. tongue.gif

Switch e398 to band 3 and untick band 7. Dl speed can reach 30Mbps with 100% signal strength.

my opinion, wireless broadband cannot replace wired broadband.
wired broadband are more stable even though their speed might be low as compare to current 4G speed.
having both would be ideal tongue.gif
link both connection and share it out as one line to all your device thumbup.gif

If your area is covered by band 3 then better switch to that. I check the signal strength through router.

If I put my Huawei E5776s-32 Mobile WiFi near the window, then no. The speed is a little unstable if I put it in living room.

*
Depends on the usb modem, i tried with Huawei E8372h, detected but it's not connecting
Might need to update the merlin firmare to latest and see if it works.
I never tried dual wan feature
On latest gargoyle firmware, huawei e8372h is detected as hilink modem and can connect with no issue

Also, what 4g lte usb modem do you have?

Things may improve if you use a better device.
I have more than 30Mbps with just one little bar of 4G using my MiFi.
I have a spare phone of Sony Xperia M also can reach around my MiFi speed. Try with other phones first before deciding so fast.

H or H+ is not even 4G, more like 3.5G. Maybe you can check coverage from their website and see if your location is 3G or 4G or try other devices.
