I am using infinite 150 but doesn't have any issue for me.

BTW, even digi control your speed during peak hour, this is NOT a hard cap.
With limited bandwitdh, as network admin, they must control the traffic. Or else, you could see every plan of digi are facing 3-5m during peak hour or worse.

Haha... he don't dare to reply.
Bukan 15mbps la. Read properly la.
*
RM150 for 5m still "a not bad deal" compare with streamyx.
This plan is not used to replace fibre, for demanding a 30m+ stable line.

Digi is good enough by using soft cap method. If [M] must use hard cap way.

how to check wether is conjested or not
*
Use your current digi plan (if you have any) or buy a prepaid to test at the following time:
6am-8am (to test super off peak time)
10am-5pm (peak hour for commercial area)
8pm-12am (super peak hour for most area)

If the off peak hour is not much different or less than 30%. It consider not congested.
If difference is more than 80%, or less than 5m for 4G, it is congested.

question about GPRS... if i exceed 5mb(using in jungle and only got 2G connection) is there any charge for it?
*
This 5mb GPRS is to prevent someone without a data plan, turned on data accidentally, give them a tolerance before being charged. That's why it is hidden and nothing important for it.

Excessive use of data not normally used by single or two person with multiple device.

The data used is probably look like being used in cybercafe and/or 10 person student house that keep downloading porn whole day.
*
I agree with your term but it is just not simply determine by data usage.
If it use for business purpose (since this plan is not commercial plan), 1kb already consider abuse.
If it use for individual, 10tb is still not consider abuse.

Individual use 10TB not making sense so it is abuse. Show me an individual alone use 1TB every month and I show you pig that can fly.
*
I don't know anyone can spend so much for a month. But it is just an example to explain to you that usage is not a guideline to determine someone abuse or not. Using TB as example maybe is too much, but 2-4hours streaming + some personal usage could be 200-300gb per month easily. And important is, this is "infinite(unlimited) plan, so usage should not become the term/guideline, but the contain is.
So digi is controlling by what to surf/download (eg: limited p2p / block illegal website), but not impose quota how many you can download.

Network abuse is basically define by the total data usage instead of users.
*
Data abuse define by the contain, not quantity or users.
There is no tnc disallow for sharing, just not allow for commercial or any illegal activities.

Haha ya
Not true. 1 person probably use 5 hours. But 10 person may use up to 24 hours. So data will be more.

Your thinking too simplified, you need to eat more pig brain soup. It will increase your brain capacity.
Data abuse is not an about TNC. It's about morality and Civic mindedness.
*
If defined by moral, yes, i will agree that this may be data abuse.
But this is a deal/business between a seller and a buyer. A willing to pay, and a willing to give, and it based on contract (or the tnc) which agreed by both.
And the hidden quota is 999GB, and i assume digi agree that this is an acceptable level for this plan before they conclude it as data abuse. This is the black & white, not something determined by a random usage, and everyone has different view on it.

And a business is based on moral (which is without black&white and how to justify), it would bring a lot of disaster.

Abuse does not have to be illegal according to TnC or law. It is just wrong thing to do. Example is abuse alcohol. You can drink all you want. It's not outlawed to drink massive amount of alcohol. But to drink a lot of alcohol abnormally is called alcohol abuse.
*
Alcohol is not really a good example to compare with the case from my view. Alcohol already a problem beginning when compare moral and religion, and it comes with limited quantity, and it may comes with problem when over drink it. Over download may not create problem (although maybe create congestion but it doesn't happen every time or every area).

And if i agree that data abuse is decided by quantity, still the amount is not decided by you or me, but digi.

If i give you a scenario like this. I spend 2TB per month. I use it to backup my 20 IPCAM to cloud for safety reason. How to you view this case?

That is special case which will not causing congestion because not many people upload. So it's not really good example. Not many people consume/download 2TB or data every month.
*
No, you point it out.
My argument is data abuse based on contents(how to you use it), not usage(how much you use it).
In some points, i very agree that majority of high usage involved with illegal download. BUT still, we cannot judge that simply seeing the amount only.

For telco's stand, digi release unlimited plan, the intention is utilizing the unused bandwidth to the niche market.

And i can tell you that, 2-3TB users definitely not the main reason who congest the network. 2TB usage probably equal to 100-200 normal usage users. But he are just spending 10mbps by average at the same time. But 100-200 normal usage users surfing at the same time, definitely kill the network more.

if they want to give unlimited to us... we unlimited their bandwidth la...apa susah
*
Yes, this is what i want to mean.

When network is congested, prioritize other users first. If no congested, share equal bandwidth.
If found high usage customers, check his background. If he spend on illegal activities, ban the server, or ban the user account.

Not simply judge or ban user simply because he spend X amount of data without proving what did he do.
This is not unlimited plan.

How about the limitations by digi that only 5 maximum devices can be tethered simultaneously ? Is it true or we can connect more than 5 devices to the 4g router ? Please share your experience please. I want to get the i150 but this limitations kinda bothering me.
*
5 devices only limit to the hotspot pass, which is apply on i80 package only.
i150 is native tethering, which is unlimited for all.

FYI, P2P is capped all the while. Not sure now can get full speed. I think it will back to cap later.  tongue.gif

Digi didn't fully block P2P.
I leave torrent overnight. It downloaded next morning.

What is your modem?
Some older modems have problem to detect newer sim card.

Next i shall try buy 4G LTE yagi (Metteor-Link) x2 since my modem got 2 antenna slot  hmm.gif

Anyone got any experience using the antenna?
*
64% is good enough. It almost won't boost speed anymore, but will increase your ping if you buy antenna. But yagi gives you an option to change another tower when you face congestion.

I think congest is not my problem because im not living in middle of big city, just trying to get something more stable connection since right now the speed is up and down like download speed at IDM running from 600-700kbps and jump to 1.8mbps-2.4mbps then drop to zero  doh.gif

Maybe because my modem dongle is inside the window, thus im thinking about antenna. So maybe can tarik more coverage from outside  hmm.gif
blink.gif  blink.gif  blink.gif

i still consider myself lucky when i150 can give me better speed than my 2mb streamyx  laugh.gif
*
No harm to try, if you willing to invest, antenna is not expensive.
BTW, what is your modem?

Hi guys,

I am planning to subscribe to this digi 150 plan.
I have a few questions related to network setup.
Does anyone has any idea whether this setup will work?

user posted image

See my current setup and how I want it to change.
The 4g lte modem/router will be placed further from the living room, near window to get higher reception.
Gigabit lan cable is not possible in my case, so I have to add a wireless router in between to connect by wireless.
I am also not sure how/where to set the dns(adblock server) in this case.

Please advise.
Thanks.
*
Why dont just replace the ADSL to 4G router, and use external antenna put outside the windows?
Much simple and more efficent way.

What type of antennas would you recommend?

mastermindsos

That's some complex setup there, what about using adblock feature on custom firmware router like tomato?
*
I think yagi is the best for LTE.
I am using old 3G antenna.

Because free cable that comes with external antenna cannot be longer than 2m, otherwise there will be signal loss.
I need to put the 4g lte router close to the window, which is upstairs, to make matter difficult it is a different house.
*
Hmm... not sure how is your situation but if me, i will think some solutions just replace the ADSL to 4G. I see your current setup, should be no problem, but increase some ping.
Quality cable for antenna can reach to 10m.
Cat 6 Lan can reach up to 100m.
What do different house mean? Next door or opposite street?
