Wah I wanted to post already got new thread.

Regarding the 6% shown on u.com.my, here's the fine print:-

All prices are inclusive of GST. For Prepaid, GST has been paid upfront upon top up.

Are you even reading what I posted bro? GST has been paid upfront upon top up means that when topping up you paid the GST, and so the per minute charge doesn't get charged GST again.

In other words, GST charged while reloading, not when using credit.

but u-mobile website still displaying: http://www.u.com.my/new_prepaidplan

sms rate: 3.18sen/sms ; 8.48sen / sms
voice call rate: 10.60sen /30 sen

ppl now are fused with top up gst matter,

if later discovering telco 'silently' charge gst on every sms / voice call... spark another war

however just now i test sending sms to another umobile number:

before balance: RM13.71
after balance: RM13.68

3 sen charge

that's the core of the confusion.

1) reload vouchers are charged GST upfront (upon redemption). this is based on the asssumption that reload vouchers are for PREPAID services (voice, sms, mms, data packages, etc).

2) problem lies with Custom's GST guideline on price display: displayed selling price MUST include GST amount, e.g. 3.18sen/sms

confusion begins when reload vouchers got GST .... then sms 'displayed' rate got GST also .... that means we're paying double GST aka double-taxation?

but technically, NO GST, since you've tested it's still 3sen cuz it's based on the assumption that SMS' gst amount already "prepaid" from the reload voucher earlier biggrin.gif

Should be.. Let's see next month.

Their website also wrong. UMI30 / UMI50 / UMI38 plan did not change it's price to reflect the 6% GST as of now.
And the top up bonus for calling overseas is no longer available??? : (

Hopefully can available.
Previously I complain them it is not fair for prepaid user as postpaid user can online view the billing statement while prepaid user cannot.

Plus right now once GST implement, scare U Mobile suka suka hati charge extra without our notice. doh.gif
The worst is not all country available for international roaming. shakehead.gif

Anyone having frequent disconnection to U Mobile network? Sometimes my phone keeps on reconnecting, and sometimes it takes 30mins to 1hr just to connect to the network.

I can confirm there is signal (from doing a network search) but somehow my the phone can't "sign in and register" to the network.

uMobile Internet sucks.

I tried since just few months back.

Every month sure got a day or 2 downtime and signal reverts to Maxsucks.

The peering is damn lousy. Local speedtest for DC-HSPA can reach 15mbps, but when you do international speedtest to non peering networks can hit below 3mbps or even 2mbps during peak hours for even HK or US websites.

We pay premium pricing for such lousy connection?

Uh... while I agree U's internet has gotten quite a bit worse, what premium pricing you paying? I go for U because its cheap (and better coverage than yellow man). I believe no matter which plan you're on for U its cheaper than similar plan from blue and purple carriers, so what premium pricing?

You're paying for slow to RM70 just for 5GB with traffic counter towards quota allowance, you get less than 3mbps speeds on international servers?

Even TM sucky UNLIMITED fixed lines have better peering than this when it comes to consistency.

Worst you're given carrier grade NAT addresses.

How bad can this get?

When Indonesia sells the same amount for under RM10 while Taiwan sells UNLIMITED HSPA+/4G for RM65 a month?

user posted image

Top up NTD1000 a month get 30 days UNLIMITED Data Pass with NTD450 credit for calls/texts.
Prepaid service summore. No contracts or obligations.

In fact all Taiwanese mobile companies offer UNLIMITED mobile data plans for less than RM100 monthly.

Complaint is about U mobile but in actual fact not happy about MY vs international. Win liao la.

I repeat, within Malaysia U is not premium price. That's the only choice we as consumers have. Want to compare with other countries then every damn thing is not worth buying (and also unfair to blame it on the individual providers unless its a monopoly business).

Checked the price of property in Mongolia recently? How about the price of cars in America? Or strawberries in Australia? No end one la....

Just signed up for a U28 post paid, and I can't get the mobile data to work no matter how I try, saying my mobile data is turned off when its actually on.

On the network bar, there's a G sign with a little R besides it and I guess its on 2G mode roaming? Which is a little weird as I live in Seri Kembangan and according to the coverage map there should be 3G network coverage here.

Edit: So...I got the connection to work, but it's still a slow connection, on roaming, that only offers 0.1 mbps download speed, what could be the problem?

It means you're forced to hop on Maxis's 2G network because their 3G base station in your area is down for the time being. I suggest you make a report to them and demand some answers from their technical team. Their own telephone operators might not even have an idea what is happening until their technical team gets back to them and confirm.

My place also like yours. Every month sure to have downtime for once or twice disconnected to their own 3G base station. You cannot hop on to Maxis's 3G network so the only network it will connect to is Maxis's old 2G network.
I know this because sometimes MY MAXIS appears instead of UMOBILE when I'm forced on 2G.

Areas where their 3G HSPA+LTE network serves, if they go down your only option is Maxis 2G.

Anyone know. Let's say last year I sign up umobile 50 postpaid.
That time advertised as free unlimited call to umobile(no limit 24/7) also can

Now I see their 50 play stated only 30min per day to umobile number

So old customer also affected or still free 24/7?

Can get through their hotline

Anyone know. Let's say last year I sign up umobile 50 postpaid.
That time advertised as free unlimited call to umobile(no limit 24/7) also can

Now I see their 50 play stated only 30min per day to umobile number

So old customer also affected or still free 24/7?

Can get through their hotline
*
as long as u stick with old plan U50 u still maximum 3000 mins free call to umobile in a month

for new p50 is just extra data and less free call cool2.gif if wanna upgrade let me know o

I believe not. Even though umobile is 'postpaid' you actually pay before using. Summoning CnYGarage for proper explanation.

u treat the ADVANCE ACCESS FEE as deposit then u will feel better

like you paid 13/3 - 31/3 , ur access fee should be 1 month advance RM 50 + 1 month existing RM 50 - 12/31*50 (pro rated for only 19 days usage)

that means u already paid MARCH and also APRIL access fee if you gonna terminate it @ 30 April, u no need to pay the RM 50 outstanding IF there is

btw u may make your payment thru me to enjoy discount always brows.gif

Prepaid reloads back to pre-GST rates from May 1

PUTRAJAYA: Telecommunication companies will revert to the old pricing for prepaid reloads from May 1.

Customs director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said the telcos had been informed to revert to the rates before the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 1.

This means that a RM10 top-up would cost RM10 instead of GST-inclusive RM10.60.

"We understand the problems affecting youngsters, who are the main prepaid users.

"Effective May 1, all telcos must revert to prices before April 1 where the price is inclusive of tax," he told a press conference.

In a quick turnaround, the Customs Department has indefinitely postponed its directive to revert mobile prepaid reload card prices to pre-GST levels on Friday.

I am really so geram my weak connection and data error in Subang and Cyberjaya area, it is really impacted to my daily usage for the incoming/out call and sms at all times, it is only getting 1-2 signal bar on 3G.

I have been follow-up my incident and feedback with Umobile Customer Service, until now the customer service doesn't reply anything, the Umobile previous feedback was due to the infrastructure build, Umobile is not able to confirm the new tower will be on air in the said area.

I have been logged the case to MCMC consumer complaint, I'm really need to port out but i am bonded by umobiled contract for 2 years, i was just signed up for the iphone plan. i cannot stay on unresponsiveness telco.

Yea I'm using Iphobe 6+ IOS 8.3, the 3g is good if it is within umobile coverage, however Umobile has confirmed that my area is at the border of their coverage, they are not able to promise the the new tower on air.

Hi All,

I'm a U50 user. I noticed recently umobile updated their ad in the website by upgrading 3Gb data instead of 2Gb.
Will I get this?

Also, I'm planning to MNP my number to other service provider. However, I've paid RM300 deposit to activate my roaming.
Question is, how will i get back my RM300? Will Umobile transfer to my bank account?

Already sent this queries to UMobile but didnt get any reply yet.
Thought of try asking here.

Thanks. icon_rolleyes.gif

Currently on MB68 plan, registered since Dec 2014. I will be getting Unifi in my area within the next month, so I will be terminating my U-Mobile. Is there any notice period for terminating the account, eg 1 month? Or can I terminate it on the day which I don't need it anymore and they will charge me on a pro-rated basis?

if i'm not mistaken, no prorate upon termination. better use kawkaw until end month, then terminate. if terminate before end month, rugi only.

also, no notice to terminate. just go to service centre, request for termination. ask them about any deposits paid (if any) and use them to offset any last bill outstandings.

you would get the final bill again if there's outstandings.

Guys,

http://www.u.com.my/postpaid_broadband

I have a Mobile Wifi device, so just nid sim card ni.

The Sim Only MB40 postpaid plan. If over quote got extra charge anot? or just throttle-d speed? Checked their FAQ dy, they didn't mentioned bout it.

Currently using Maxis' RM48 Wireless Broadband plan, after GST RM50+, only 1.5gb peak and 1.5gb off peak.

Seems like U Mobile's Sim Only MB40 is better. Cheaper at RM40 and 2gb peak and 2gb off peak.

you should tryt o find better signal spot or upgrade your device to 42Mbps ot 4G LTE device

Upgrade to 42 mbps device? It helps?

I really want to know since my umobile seems always hiccup or unstable during gaming. The line is up and down.

When i do speed test, i can get average 2mb and 70 pings in my area, so i guess found a good spot but it is its performance that turned me down due to the unstability.

So will it solved my hiccup problem? Where can i get one? Is it expensive?

Do you guys have the picture of usb modem + external modem? In my area, i went to 3 computer shops and they never heard anything ike that. Their responses were like "you mean "dongle"?

depends.

one good feature for U50 is the unlimited onnet (same network) voice calls. the newer P50 removed this.

if voice calls is not critical (within 50mins/month usage), then newer P50 gives you 3GB quota (vs 2GB for U50).

MB40 - RM40 for 4gb peak + 2gb off peak. That's a great deal too.

But when I read the TnC

http://www.u.com.my/tnc/1851

You enjoy (a) a promotional rebate of RM 106 (RM 10.60 x first 10 months).(inclusive of GST). This promotional rebate supersedes and applies in lieu of any promotional rebate which are applicable for MB40, MB68, MB88 & MB128 plans and if you terminate before the end of that 10 month period, your rebate will be forfeited; (b) in addition to the prevailing all-day usage quota for the respective plans you will receive additional FREE 2GB quota for MB40, 5GB quota for MB68, FREE 14GB quota for MB88 or FREE 20GB quota for MB128 applicable for off-peak usage (2am to 8am) per month.

Meaning on my 11th month, the MB40 plan will become RM50.60 per month? Or RM40 is after the RM10.60 rebate? hmm.gif

This is a promotion whereby all the existing #U28 #P50 #P70 subscribers will enjoy the extra quota, for life! The same applies for those who sign up these plans by 31 August 2015.

Thanks, but I am living in a pretty crappy area which doesn't support TmGO or Streamyx. MY only option was Umobile which has full bar in my area.

I just checked my dongle and it is 7mbps. I guess this is the reason why I had an unstable connection? I wonder if I changed it to 21mpbs, would it helps?

I got the speed but not the stability. Sometimes the connection dropped to 0 for few seconds. So i really hope that lte 4g or 21mbps can solve the unstability.

I also suspect that my dongle may be overheated during that time.

Also whether this offer is permanent for all customer or only for new/MNP customer.

And final question whether prepaid can transfer credit to other prepaid user.

Hi sifus. Would be great if anyone can tell me if i can keep my current umobile prepaid number if i port to this current u28 postpaid plan (3gb).

Also would like to know if there is a contract period for this postpaid plan.

Finally, does this u28 plan support 4g lte?

Thanks for reading and any reply would be greatly appreciated. biggrin.gif

What is the total I need to pay for U28?
1. Advanced / One time off
2. Monthly . I assumed it's Rm28 + 6% GST. Any other thing like paper bill / Itemized / etc.?
3. Can I do it with you with out going to your shop?

U Mobile uses its own network unless there is no U Mobile coverage then it roams to Maxis' network but then there's a catch as Maxis only allows U Mobile to roam at about 1,300+ network tower for 3G which I suspect these are also located at areas where it is underutilized, other towers are 2G only which I guess for congested areas, Maxis will only allow 2G.

In short, Maxis allows U Mobile to roam-in for:
2G = Nationwide
3G = At selected 1,300+ network towers

Hello All, what would you do if you are only know by now that UMobile has no 3G widely build even in Klang Valley or your area, it is running 2G network at the said location, yet you have 24 months contract with them.

I have faced the issue, i have bought my dispute of service to mcmc but it does not seem any good, i have claimed that i have subscribed U High speed Internet but no product/service is being undelivered, this has been denied feedback and fortified will on subscriber if subscriber choose to port out.

It is totally unfairness theory, there is no consumer rights and i cannot see any resource and help on mcmc to protect consumer interests.

How can i escalate beside mcmc? Thanks.

This is why always we advise to test with a cheap prepaid card.

Did you check whether your area listed on their website? If they didn't list as 3G coverage area then really nothing you can do. Consumer rights only can use if the consumer bother to do their due diligence. In this case its not U mobile's responsible to check whether you stay in what area.

For most of us, Klang Valley coverage of U is pretty good. What area you stay?

I stay in Subang Jaya myself, and I can tell you the speed is really good. It's one of the best coverage areas for U-mobile. You sure you're not in 'fake' Subang Jaya (aka USJ)?

If you're in SS14-18 its very good, if in Wangsa Baiduri not as good but still very very usable (5 MB/s or so).

Hi sifus. Would be great if anyone can tell me if i can keep my current umobile prepaid number if i port to this current u28 postpaid plan (3gb).

Also would like to know if there is a contract period for this postpaid plan.

Finally, does this u28 plan support 4g lte?

Thanks for reading and any reply would be greatly appreciated. biggrin.gif
*
I would like to know this as well.. However I have called them and what I received is the U28 will received this LTE. But as what their website written, is weird that the supported LTE plan is not including U28.

Another things very ridiculous is, if you notice, the supported plan list in the main webpage and in the FAQ is different. Such confusing their customers..

2G = Nationwide
3G = At selected 1,300+ network towers
*
I have been in 2g umobile coverage, I cannot get maxis network in roaming ever iI have the option enabled, my friend uses maxis network gets 3g connection.

1) still need to visit svc ctr to change the plan
2) no contract to postpaid plans.
3) if i'm not mistaken, max rm100 transferred.
4) if i'm not mistaken, they'll refund the excess payment in your postpaid bills. not sure what is the min amount though.

References in these terms and conditions to “free calls” or “U Mobile to U Mobile” mean free on-net calls provided the calls are made during the times stated below.

The maximum free calls will not exceed 150 days.

During the passive period, you cannot use any of the services including internet, make outgoing calls and SMS but you can receive incoming calls and SMS. Otherwise, there will be no change to the current expiry date. For example, if you top up RM30 on Day 1 and you make another top up of RM10 on day 15, your free calls validity will still be 30 days and not 40 days. I think you're missing one part, I just saw that its RM1 topup = 1 day active.

So its not that good. Still paying minimum RM30 a month for this 'free' 1GB.

For those who already using UMI30 (1.5GB) this means they'll get 2.5GB, so that's awesome. But U28 is RM2 cheaper and 3 GB.....

But for those who use U for long validity this is not good.

the 1GB quota doesnt mean it will extend your prepaid validity.

in the end, you STILL need to reload to extend the validity.

the 1GB is jsut a bonus. if you dont keep your prepaid alive (active), 1GB is useless.

so, in short, like what LostAndFound mentioned above, still need at least RM30 to keep your prepaid ACTIVE + 1GB free.

same as prepaid reload active period lor.

Active period depends on the top up amount. Eg. RM1 = 1 day or RM30 = 30 days.

4) if i'm not mistaken, they'll refund the excess payment in your postpaid bills. not sure what is the min amount though.

Hi, I would like to ask, do I need to reload my Umobile prepaid by certain ways then only will be able to earn Ucard points?

'Cause before this I had been using CIMBClicks for 1 year+, and I got to earn the points. But recently I tried using Maybank2u (get the reload PIN), but no points earned, even though I reload RM50.

last time im using U50 = 2GB/month.

after that, this year, umobile changing their plan.

i email the umobile customer service. because with new plan, with same amount of billing which is RM50/month (new plan called P50), user can get 5GB/month. instead of my plan only 2GB/month. very not fair. haha

then umobile reply, my plan U50 not entitle for 5GB/month. so i told them i will change to P50 plan after this.

a week later, i receive the email that mention(system email), umobile offer all U50 users to change the plan to P50. and i accept the offer.

now i am the P50 users. Yay! i have using umobile for a long years, never disappointed with the coverage (all my place, hometown, home, office, got 3G/LTE brows.gif)

for RM50 u will get 5gb summore with free call etc.

just share my story here. haha.

anndddd.. i love their new apps. easy to track my data balance.

Switch to postpaid U28, 3GB data (claimed is all day 3GB), 50min talk time.
Waiting sim card to be activated.
Penang area, no 4G, hope that 3G is not disappoint.

Nano sim charge RM10.30

Asking for Digi and Celcom as well, but their budget promotional package all are ended.
All need to sign contract for at least 1 year.

But this U28 surprisingly no contract needed.

As request, tested the U28 package at Penang Island, Relau area, one of the most crowded living area with many apartments and flats.
Penang is still limited with 3G/H+ speed only.

At some Relau area where signal is just moderate strong, the speed is as below.
Considered not bad as previously Maxis has very bad 3G coverage at this area (which cannot even send out chatting message, but Maxis neglect this issue by 4G coverage)
Attached Image

At the area with strong signal, almost full bar H+, the result is as below.
Consider this is pretty good on a H+ signal.
Attached Image

The data balance check do indicate real 3GB data usage.
Attached Image

Has also make the 1st phone call. Call quality is very clear and loud.

Has actually also tested at Penang Island, Bayan Lepas FTZ industrial area, the signal is very weak at most of the spot, only able to get "E" signal inside the building, and moderate "H" signal.
But, other telco signal also perform very poor at that area, so it is not a surprise, anyway.

1st impression on U Mobile U28 at Penang area: consider good, comparable to other telco coverage, just lacking the 4G coverage.

Maxis lead the 4G network at Penang (cover almost whole Penang), even prepaid service getting the same 4G, follow closely by Celcom and Digi.
U Mobile don't has 4G coverage at Penang.

The speed test above actually is tested at area which covered 4G network by Maxis and Digi.
The test is carried out on a 4G phone, which previously enjoying fast 4G internet at these area.

Now it is limited just 3G.

I was attracted by d advert by U mobile dat if u buy a new prepaid pack, u will be entitled to free 1GB internet. However, further reading into d FAQs made me realise it is just a marketing strategy by U Mobile.

Correct me if I'm wrong:

If RM1= 1 validity day. RM30 = 1 month.
60 days = passive period, so top-up every 2 months = RM 180 to use this UMobile Power Plan.

How is it better than other packages??

P.S.-

Here is d link to d UMobile FAQs:

Every 2 months RM180? How you count?

You reload RM30 you get 30 days validity. After that you just reload RM30 again. 2 months you've reloaded RM60 (give or take RM1 depending which month got 31 days).

Unless you're talking about per year. In that case its basically RM365 a year. No extended validity. If you want extended validity use something else. Otherwise your free 1GB only valid during the X days after each X topup, otherwise cannot be used.

1. Not sure, I think they give free. (I'm using micro sim, it's free tongue.gif)
2. Whatever kind of billing also nothing will be waived (I asked Customer Service about this)
3. Depends on how you use, if you use less than 5GB/month, why need to pay another RM20 for P70?
4. Cannot, need to call C.Service to deactivate voice mail.

I was thinking about reloading once every 2 months to keep d line active. But it was not d case, as u had pointed out. I'm currently using Maxis, but thought dat UMobile might be used as my alternative phone line, once I'd bought d package. Thx 4 enlightening me~ thumbup.gif

1. nano sim will charged, micro sim free.

2. first registration u will be charged for itemized billing. during registration u need to tell them u want register for e-billing to avoid they charged you RM3 per bill. Before i ported i forgot to tell them and the bill cames LOL RM3... ZZZZ.. then i sent an email to the customer service that i want to register e- billing on July mid last month and their CS replied me my e- billing will started on 01 September 2015. Ytd my bill came and yes RM3 again=.="""""" #$%$&*^^%$#%^&*%$#$

3. P50 is enough for me. depends lor but i suggest, no need to pay extra RM20 for extra 2 gb unless u always outside and need to surf everytime then take P70 lor.... myself, Office Unifi, Home Unifi... rclxms.gif

4. email customer service they will assist you.

I had used DIGI, Celcom, Maxis and now i all ported to U mobile. What can i say? i love it compared to the 3 telco i used last time. I based KL/Selangor so the line i'm satisfied!! biggrin.gif

Hi, would like some feedback on U-Mobile.

I have used it in the past, with the USB modem on my PC, the MB68/128 postpaid plans without contract. Terminated after 7~8 months as the connection stability became bad. Additional quota is expensive too. Used the free modem with 3G connection.

Switched to ABNXcess later, but now that ABN is (nearly)dead, I am looking for an alternative in the meantime, since my UNIFI application is pending and TM can't tell me how long it will take.

So far the only provider without contract I can find is U-Mobile, are there any others?

Now thinking of trying U-Mobile again because there is no contract. This time I plan on taking the LTE MIFI modem, because now I need to share connection with family members, and the basic MIFI modem is 3G, which is pretty slow/unstable. Can the LTE MIFI modem be plugged directly to PC through USB? Or will my PC need a wireless card/peripheral?

Ya... But I has been warned by some seller where cutting from normal to micro or nano sim may cause some sim card unable to use.
So, I done it as a reverse way, get a nano sim to cater phone that need nano sim, then use micro sim or normal sim adapter to insert into micro sim or normal sim phone.
The adapter package, cheapest I can get is RM2, for all 3 adapter (nano to micro, nano to normal, micro to normal)

So far work well for me.

for the service center, they provide the original nano sim, which chargeable. I walked in to Berjaya Times Square, they told the nano sim is chargeable.

yup we do provide original nano sim , some charge RM 10, for postpaid registration I charge extra Rm 5, which other sizes are free

*
the LTE mifi can connect by PC through USB cable yes, u may try to buy a prepaid broadband card to test the coverage / signal now whether u are satisfy or not.

how to check ? I dont want the roaming.

for prepaid YES

postpaid u need to pay deposit to activate roaming

*
umobile dealers do provide original Nano size =.= but the adapter is ok too

What I means is if we have various phone that work with different size of sim card, then the problem can be solve by using a nano sim.

To use the nano sim on phone with micro sim, just put the nano sim into the micro sim adapter, then can work perfectly. brows.gif brows.gif

1. e-billing with itemized - waived RM3 (confirmed with two of my friends bills)
2. can just disable voice mail but with missed call notification enabled. (tested from my phone)

P.S.-

Here is d link to d UMobile FAQs:

now here's the catch:

What is FREE basic internet?
FREE Basic Internet offers you basic Internet access at speeds of up to 64kbps. Utilisation is subject to a fair usage policy of 2GB per month, after which you will be unable to perform any further Internet browsing.

besides that, the 150min is to all telco?
and it stated 15min free perday, un-utilised does it carry forward to next day?

I went ahead and got the U Mobile 88 postpaid "broadband", since it is the only no-contract option I could find. Regretting it, the same reason I discontinued using it 2 years ago.

The connection is ok sometimes, but out of a sudden I will lose signal (or get EDGE instead of HSPA) and be unable to reconnect for some time. Very unstable. Highly recommend against getting U Mobile for internet.

I wanted to get the LTE modem for better speed/stability, but at the U Mobile service centre they told me it was out of stock and would not be restocked, so I was stuck with the 3G modem. Sigh, have to cancel it again.

What is the cutoff period for cancelling internet subscription, so that they don't charge you for the next month? Also, do I have to return the "free" Mifi modem?

Already e-mailed U Mobile about the issue, haven't got a reply yet.

I'm in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.

I just hope I can get Unifi soon (pending since installer has long schedule), because the 9GB quota MB88 is simply not enough to last the month. I'm not even a heavy downloader! Just regular usage shared with 2 other people in the house.

According to coverage map in umobile website, the 3G coverage there is very scattered. Is your exact location under the 3G area? If not then can't do much.

they no longer provide LTE modem/mifi, only 3G?

could be due their slow expansion of 4g lte network and also attributed to the 'cost of lte modem' as RM falled so much

You can choose between a basic USB modem (no WiFi, get this if using PC/laptop only) and a Mifi modem (also with USB cable for PC conn.), both are 3G only. Don't have to pay for them.

The LTE modems, there are a couple of different ones I think, you have to buy them from U Mobile.

The Mifi modem's WiFi range is pathetically short (already set to max in modem settings). I can be sitting in my room just 4 metres away and not be able to detect the signal. I keep the modem on the 2nd floor, so totally cannot use WiFi on the ground floor.

I have no choice but to keep using U Mobile for now, the Unifi contractor is too busy, have to wait another month for him to come and install.

A lot apparently.
Website nowadays average 3-4 mb.
That's not including light video streaming.
I use my bb for both phone and laptop as my area don't have streamyx/p1

Ah if you use your laptop then confirm habis very very fast.

Hi,

Am from DIGI, its shit.

Wanna change.

But just wanna make myself clear with a couple of things

1) Does their prepaid UMI plans support LTE? I read their website that it does.

2) If I subscribe to those UMI plans, does it include talktime validity? I read that it gives like XXX minutes of free calls / SMS etc. But after paying for UMI do I need to like reload another RM30 per month?

TQ all

Baru guna prepaid bro?

Reload RM30, your line will have RM30 credit and 30 days validity. And 1GB free data.

Let's say you go for UMI 25, your line will now have RM5 credit, still have 30 days validity, and you will get 1GB free data and some free calls (only to U mobile).

After the 30 days you need to reload again. Let's say RM10. Now you will have RM15 credit, and 10 days validity (from the reload). With that you can't buy any UMI, so will not auto-renew.

Basically, your reload becomes credit, and UMI takes from your credit (you don't pay separately for it). Reload also becomes validity.

If don't understand and want something simple, just go U28. 3 GB, 50 minutes call, 100 SMS to U and 200 SMS to other. Hassle free option. But take note that there's surcharges in first bill (RM10 stamp duty, RM3 for paper bill which you should immediately first month cancel, and RM28 deposit).

i'm facing gpsd battery draining issue from umobile again, wanna know anyone else get this? if you use android phone, check your battery usage and there's a process called gpsd draining a big percentage of battery. this is the second time to my knowledge, first time was in june (google "gpsd umobile" for the post reported in lyn sgs6 thread). and this time, renaming the gpsd file does not even work (root).

just called up umobile customer hotline and the agent said noone else reported this issue (doubt he even checked), didn't acknowledge the first time it happened when i told him the issue (maybe he doesn't even know) and had a nothing's wrong/don't care attitude, did not even tell me if he has logged my complaint. gonna port to something else.

As long you are a Power Prepaid user or any UM Postpaid User , you will get LTE once you activate it via sms-ing " LTE ON " to 28118

But you must be in a LTE coverage location to be able to ride on LTE la...........

A simple explanation on how to save using this Power Prepaid [ via MNP your DG number also can]

Once you are activated into Umobile either through buying a new simpack or MNP, 200MB Activation data will be credited into your ac. The active validity is 10days & preloaded credit 50sen.

Then you do a topup of rm30 & you will get that 1GB FREE data for LIFE every 30days activated. Why rm30 and not rm10 you might ask rite ? , simple , cause a rm30 topup will entitle you to 30days active validity & you also can use that rm30 to subscribe to UMi30 [ 1.5GB Data & 30mins talktime to all local Telcos ]

Having said all these, you only spent rm30 cause MNP SIMcard will be FOC , you get 2.7GB data + 30mins of calls for 30days.

Good deal or not ?

Just an example on my sim

Are you using a LTE smart fon ?

Does your area support LTE or 3G only ?

If you can lock your Network to 3G only, does it help on the drain issue ?

Not sure if gpsd is the only issue, but I know for sure gpsd issue is there. Anyone else can confirm or disprove?

What is up with the power package deal [got 1Gb/month for life] ?
Any link from the official site for me to learn more?

EDIT:
Found the link : http://www.u.com.my/prepaid

But I am none the wiser. I am a current Umobile user, using UMI28 plan.
Can I change tho this new plan, or is it only for new subscribers?

You gotta be kidding.

Please elaborate what do you mean by "limited towers".

So far I don't have any problem with Umobile even my mother's house is in Kampung area in Selangor.

Heck, even when I'm at Malaysia-Thailand border also nave no problem with Umobile coverage.

Unless UM has roaming agreement with Maxis to provide out of UM coverage area, having said so, if those area are not under Roaming coverage and it will be provided by UM tower, i have been discussed with UM, they are still facing difficulty to develop more towers to enhance the coverage.

Any area there is Maxis, UM can & will roam on its 2G for voice , & for 3G if UM does not have a tower there, UM can roam on Maxis 3G for Data

I can even roam on Maxis 4G using my UM in Senawang, NS because Maxis there run on 2600MHz

Not all area are under domestic roaming provided, they don't specifically note to the public or if you are outside of Klang Valley, the domestic roaming is UM temporary and until they have expanded, the domestic roaming will be removed.

Otherwise I'll just test for a while before considering other telco's offers.

update!
Just received an SMS from UM saying RM28 has been successfully credited into my account. Now my 3G speed is much much faster! Signal is still weak though.

Personally i have been used for 6 months, if you are travel around, considering to have a better network coverage because UM is expanding,
i have weak coverage in USJ, Cyberjaya, i dont know other places, surely UM coverage is not in full if you are compared with other telco

umobile improve compare to last year .

few years back when they are with celcom , that the best speed i enjoy that time, not much ppl willing to try umobile also, and that time buy those nice nice number also cheaper compare to maxis / celcom, i grap few that time. after that when they switch to maxis... oh no nightmare for me, dono why at some area when maxis is good but umobile just wont load the signal facebook page although it show full bar or h+. that time all my umobile mnp out to other telco like celcom maxis and digi..

but things start to change recently as mid of the year when i mnp one of my line to umobile, i was surprise with the coverage and speed. tested at ipoh, melaka town , yong peng , kluang and JB. speed is good, can even use waze along the highway from klang until jb that time.

and now the hero plan is even more attractive. good move umobile. u really change the market .

For voice no issue but for data, need to see which location. Even Celcom & Maxis sucks in some blind spot even though they claimed they have the Widest coverage

Hero p70 plan, we get 7gb and unlimited free calls to all network right?? Really unlimited kah that free call?? Or got limit how many minutes per day.. Coz i cant found much info about the unlimited call to all network on u website.

Edit : now i confused. 1st, on the website, it is stated that free unlimited calls to all network. Then, under t&c, it is stated that ;
You must comply with our Fair Usage Policy when using the Service, particularly P70’s unlimited voice.

So, any limit per day? Like 30minutes/ day to all network.. Or really unlimited at all

nope, within UMOBILE 3g Area like Klang Valley, while u are roaming with maxis, u only get EDGE for data
only places that without Umobile 3g area like somewhere @ seremban / melaka, automatically Maxis 3g

I'm in Semporna, Sabah. Coverage map says only 2G, but AFAIK, currently Umobile rides on Maxis for 3G, so if no coverage will it "roam" on Maxis 3G?

Or wont roam to maxis at all because still got umobile 2g/edge at my place?? Only if no internet at all, the fone will roam to maxis?

Hi, can someone please help me with the network data settings?

My mum just bought a U28 postpaid plan. I have found on the internet where I will have to add APN setting to be able to use mobile data, which I did. But the speed is really slow with only 0.08 Mbps and it shows the symbol "E" instead of "H+" like my UMI 30 plan.

We were told by the promoter the speed for U28 is the same as the speed of UMI plans. Does anyone have any idea how to make the speed faster?
Thanks in advance!!

When i was in sarawak, that place only 2g for umobile. Really2 slow. Why the connection doesnt auto roam to maxis 3g? I need to buy maxis sim card, instant 3g, nice speed.

If there is umobile 2g in that area, it will not roam to maxis? Only if no internet connection at all, only it will roam to maxis?

2G is nationwide domestic roaming because umobile dont have 2G GSM license
3G sharing depend of location. some place no 3G rpoaming because maybe umobile no budget , too little umobile user or maxis dont want sharing i think .

Some questions here.

For postpaid mobile broadband MB40 has anyone bought it yet.
The best part about this plan is that there is no contract.

I am considering to port over to U Mobile since their P70 plan looks really good compared to Maxis. I would like to know how is the overall 4G coverage around Klang Valley? I saw their coverage map but not sure if it is good. Those who have experience, care to share/feedback? Thanks. rclxms.gif

umobile is getting worse by the day. first they decide to increase the price by forcing us to absorb the 6% gst. and the signal nowadays is horrible. constantly disconnects by its own. and when u reconnect, there is no connection even when the bars are full. what's the point of giving extra 2 gb quota when the service gets worse by the day. and im speaking about PJ, in the middle of the city. umobile better get their act together quick.

This is UM marketing strategy and to increase the subscriber based, it is only benefit to those who are within the UM coverage,
Maybe you were connected on 2G Network without knowing it, i came in because of their low pricing,

As Subang resident I can confirm this is not true.

Of course, USJ resident always want to believe they're Subang, actually they're not. USJ memang got big blind area around USJ18 or so. USJ 2/3 can be spotty, it's better closer to USJ1. Taipan and surroundings quite okay.

Sorry man USJ, jangan tumpang nama Subang =p

good work for onexox thumbup.gif

point being, every telco sucks. be it pricing, features, coverage, congestion, customer service, advertisement, etc.

every eligible businesses are compelled to adhere the gst act. cannot run. since almost all telcos are charging gst on their plans, then we stop using their service? i guess not.

gst is not the reason the telco sucks. we all know who to blame for this yawn.gif

I'm planning to apply postpaid MB68 for my office (for light browsing and email only).

However from their website they did not state what will happen if I used up my quota. Anyone know will they throttle the speed if I used up all the data or will they charge pay per use?

Besides that, is there any user can give any review on the reliability? Such as the stability and speed.

Throttle speed.

Good speed in KL, plus they are rapidly increasing 4G LTE coverage.

light browsing and email only mb68 with 7gb + 3gb off peak is sufficient
umobile noon time browsing is very steady these few years as long as ur area signal is good ( better test if first because sometimes there are blind spots , but using mifi u may place it near windows )

umobile would never charge any on extra data (even prepaid without top up) because all plans included with UNLIMITED FREE BASIC DATA @ 64kbps

after all u may subscribe with me with discount ya biggrin.gif

I signed up for MB128 with 3G MIFI last month...always get HSPA+ full bar but speed slow like heck. Normally use between 5PM to 1AM. Speedtest sometimes failed ping. Most times shows 0.2Mbps download / upload.

Staying at condo in salak south 14 floor. Complaint to U mobile but does not seem to be any improvement. My other devices on Maxis and Celcom 3G or 4G no problem eventhough 2 to 4 bar (5 bar max) signal most of the time.

Anyone around salak south or Kuchai Lama area can confirm if the network there is OK?

Need help from sifu here. I got a call from u mobile, she said that I have a postpaid number with unpaid balance or something like that. But the thing is, I have never register any postpaid number before. I don't even recognize the number she mentioned. Possibly someone using my detail to register it. So what should I do? Need to terminate? Or lodge police report?

i got UM 2G coverage, speechless

Dun be speechless.. I have been using Celcom and tied to 2 years contract, even made complaint to their support and their support just reply they were not able to improve the signal..

Fyi, I signed up Celcom due to widest coverage and also I did a coverage map survey before signing up, the coverage map shows that my hse area with 3G HSPA+ coverage, but what I get is only merely 1 to 2 bars of 3G network and always not able to send out SMS or receive any.. Call always not connected, and dun mention the ability to surf internet..
And I did switch to 2G to make some call and send SMS also getting 1 or 2 bars, it is even worse than 3G network in my area..

Yea, it is really frustrating.. I have been tahan for like 2 years now.. This month is the end of contract, I will definitely go for UMobile since UM is the only operator with full bar H+ and 4G LTE in my house area.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Even Maxis signal just so so, DiGi and Celcom not reliable in my area.. sweat.gif

This month is the end of contract, I will definitely go for UMobile since UM is the only operator with full bar H+ and 4G LTE in my house area..  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  Even Maxis signal just so so, DiGi and Celcom not reliable in my area..  sweat.gif

True. Celcom in Putra Heights, signal strength for 3G/LTE is non-existent after 7pm.

Agree, if looking for U go to him. However make sure you test with pre-paid first (which he also advises).

U28, I thought monthly payment is at most RM30 (include Gst), but I was charged RM31.80, why?
Another thing, I received sms that Free YouTube & Tonton from 2am-10am, is it true? In this duration, no data charge?

U28 just pay rm29.70 should suffice if you pay through U Center, if you pay through Dealer, you pay rm31.80 & the extras would be credited back to your ac as extra credit to offset the next mth bill.

Hi guys,

I am wondering if anyone have this issue? I am using their prepaid Internet + USB Modem and was attempting to "Purchase Plan" via the software they gave me. However when I do so, instead of coming out with the list of options to purchase, it came out the error " System is currently unavailable. Please try again later." Tried since afternoon but same thing. I tried using the SMS function to purchase but the return SMS is also the same error.

Anyone encountered this before?

Thanks.
