Can someone answer my question?

Haiz, I need some advice from you guys...

Ok, my parent's don't let me subscribe Unifi... Because it got 2 years contract and I might be studying overseas during July 2014.

So no idea, my parent's don't want to pay the Unifi bill after I go study overseas then I think I will stick up with U Mobile... Actually the speed are pretty worst these few months and I keep getting constant disconnect.

Before I go study overseas, I might pick up some jobs during Jan-Jun 2014, I think I can pay the UMI128 plan RM128/20GB per month.

My main purpose: playing Dota 2, and streaming Videos (Qvod) and torrent sometimes, and I will also get a MiFi modem 21Mbps or 42Mbps one.

Do you guys thinks it's an good idea? Currently I am using UMI68 5GB with a lousy ZTE MF110 and Huawei E173 modem, will upgrade it after I get my salary.

How do you think? And can someone give me a Speed Test for those who are using MiFi modem? Thanks.

And the speed I get during 9.54PM. UMI68

I am also using MB 128 Postpaid, using the same Huawei E173 modem.

Also getting very poor speed AGAIN. 0.83 mbps dl and 0.26 mbps ul, tested at 9.50 pm. Johor Bahru.

Complained to U Mobile several times about 6 months ago and they replied with "can't find anything wrong". Only after I complained to consumerinfo.my did U Mobile start paying attention. After a long series of complaints, finally it was fixed for a few months, I got decent speed of about 3-4 mb dl even during peak.
They keep trying to get new subscribers but don't improve their infrastructure. They somewhat admitted to it when the Customer Service replied to my emails, telling me they were going to build a new station near my area, but no confirmed date.

Now, the speed is crawling again. Been using U Mobile for more than a year, but now I give up! Thinking of switching to Yes 4G Postpaid as there is no plan. Anyone know if Yes 4G is fast/reliable?

Can't get Unifi as my street has low demand and TM refuses to pull the cable to my street. P1 can get it done but costs 300 I think.

a friends uses Yes 4g on the highway, going north from KL to penang, he managed to get 13mbps on the go and a few devices were able to stream from the Yes Dongle smoothly. This was years ago though, when they first launched.

if you can find a way to try the speed first for a few days, that'll be the best option. check with their rep if you can loan or rent a modem to try for a few days or something,

However, certain area might have issues. In KL, another friend that is living at a high rise builidng, couldn't get a decent speed which is normal for people that is living at that level and up. so your mileage may vary.

I've been using UB68, it says i will get another 5gb after 2am?

but it's not giving me any free data after 2am, still consuming my normal data after 2am.

it actually has been happened last month, i went to their customer service and asked them to check for me.

they said i have used up the extra 5gb data. but i was absolutely sure i did not use up that 5gb from 2am that fast, like in 9 days?

so i said nevermind, will try and see what happens next month(this month)

STILL NO FREE 5GB FOR ME. using my normal data after 2am, keep on checking data usage from 2am to 4am. still consuming my main data.

any staff from umobile can answer this? thanks

It seems no matter which modem, U Mobile has poor upload speed.

When my connection was slow, ul speed was about 0.3 mbps, putting attachments in emails took AGES. Really frustrating. The 1.5 mb "normal" upload speed is ok for sending photos, but what if I need to send large files? Will take forever.

I don't think YES allows a trial period, asked their staff before. Anyway it can't be any worse than U Mobile now. The only thing is that I would need to manage my usage since it is 6 gb peak and 15 gb off peak. However the 2am-8am restriction is too limiting! I wish they'd extend it to 12 midnight. That's one thing good about U Mobile MB128, 20 gb with no time restriction, however with the shitty speed during the peak hours, I am also facing a restriction of sorts, so might as well switch!

About the extra 5gb from 2am-8am (only for RM68 post/pre-paid), did you send a SMS to subscribe for the extra 5 gb? If you just started using either the 68 post/pre-paid recently, it should be automatic. If you are an older customer you need to send "SUPER" to 28118 via SMS according to their website. I think the U Mobile Broadband Manager can do that.

no doubt about that, I have done more than 50 speedtest, I never reach more than 2.0Mbps for upload, highest is 1.80Mbps (tested with more than 10 modems, forgot all the model already) . I know since day one I use umobile but for FB and youtube, should be enough, most of the time is downloading data only.
