Recently attempted to apply the Lazada RM800 voucher campaign from HSBC-Ringgitplus.

But I got rejected for applying HSBC Platinum Credit Card ( min income RM3000 per month, which I am eligible )

I am totally confused.

I had no new application for any loan/card within a year, I got around 20% increment this year, my credit score report is A+ grade, I am having multiple credit cards which totals around RM2k-RM3k usage per month, not to mention I never miss any payment for any of my loans/credit card.

Is HSBC really that strict in credit card approval? What am I missing ?

1. Basic income > 3k? Basic only, not commission or allowance
2. Are you overstretched on your loan account ? How many credit card, housing loan and car loan do you have?

From my personal experience HSBC is the strictest bank when it comes to CC approval. They only assigned me RM3k credit limit while the other banks can simply gave me RM30-70k. My application to increase the credit limit was rejected twice and I really wonder why on earth they assigned me only RM3k limit for a platinum card.

My basic is more than double > 3k.
I have 5 credit cards with 3 banks which totals around RM30k credit limit only.
And I didn't apply any new credit card or loans within a year.
If those credit cards are hurting my credit score, won't my credit score report show anything less than A+ ?

there's no such thing as SST waiver. the gov is still collecting the tax, no matter who's paying for it

Well, different bank will judge differently base on their own criteria and policy. while one find HSBC strict, other may find Maybank, Affin bank etc strict.

However, base on my experience, total commitment do affect. Eg, your income is 20k, but you have house loan + car loan installment added up total 15k/month.

Number of cards doesn't affect. Is it good to have many card or high credit limit, but must maintain usage ratio LOW.

Other factor will be like, if you previously hv record with the bank, you might get the approval easier, eg you held their cc and cancel it before you are holding their other cc.

i've been meaning to ask this (and i understand it may be different from bank to bank), but when the bank states a minimum income requirement, does it refer to basic salary (not including allowance, loading, etc.) or include all income as reported to lhdn?

well i always assume the lowest (basic only) just to be on the safe side when applying. just curious.

different case for me. it depend on the officer in charge of your application. My case, applied early this year for rm500 cb ( after 1y cancel ) they approve my application even thought during mco where no one at office ( for HR verification )

It depend on the nature of the business you working as well. you can try to check any ccris record that affect your application.

Also my advise, if you have any credit card, best to keep in good record for more 1 year in order the bank to seen you are good paymaster ( just my 2 cent)

I also recently applied HSBC CC becoz of the lazada RM800 voucher. And it got approved already.

And one month before, I applied maybank 2 platinum card (Upgraded) and alliance bank card. Both also got approved and I have cancelled the alliance card this month also.

Maybe the bank thinks that u are having too many CC and unlikely to spend much with their cards based on your spending. So they have rejected ur card application.

Just check my ctos report saying my application is pending by FI with credit limit 14k from HSBC. Does it mean i have higher chance of getting approved or they can still reject my application?

could end up with either one of the following:
1. higher CL
2. lower CL
3. same CL
4. rejected > disappear from ccris
