update on my temp problem.. seem temporary settle.. just pour in coolant (before this just tap water) to keep it down to 3 level.. but with no thermostat worry that the block will break down faster cause no water jacket to help to absorb the heat generated.. well the water flow and hope it absorb all the engine heat efficiently.

i still need to top up coolant every few day and let the resourvier tank open up all night to make sure the bubble that sip thru my leak (block or head block) escape out from the cooling system.. if bubbles @ air is trap inside the cooling system, the temp will be ridiculous.. can go up to 5 bar but nothing smelly or what from the engine bay..

hope to repair this baby as soon as possible.. make me worry if wanna go for long way journey..

My savvy's rpm (manual) goes high (up to 2.5 or 3) & low when i was stopping but without turning off the engine.

Any sifu here knows wat is the problem??

Think should be the map sensor faulty or dirty. Maybe need replacement. If wan to solve it on the spot just restart the engine.

Btw any bro encounter steering wheel problem?

i have a problem with my steering. When i do a u turn and release the steering, the steering does not turn back to the center point but instead the steering wheel will be jumpy while turning back to its orginal position.

Another problem is when the engine is cold the power steering fluid will be at the max line which is normal. But after the drive to work the power steering fluid will be over the max line. Would need advise on this 2 matters. Thank u

I'd suggest go for Manual if you don't want a hassle maintaining an AMT. I myself driving AMT (2006 production) and I admit it has few problems. I don't say it as a problematic car because it's just a wear and tear issue. On the other hand, MT version is almost problem free besides the power steering switch and ignition coil which can be replaced for less than RM500. Ignition coil China brand can get as low as RM230 with installation while the power steering switch issue can be fixed for less than RM400. The engine is very robust. Mine clocked 140,000km already and no single problem with the engine. Mind you that my driving style is quite rough. I do 170kmh quite frequently especially during long hour drives (KL-JB-KL in a day twice a week). The best thing about Savvy is the handling. If Myvi handling 3/10, I'd give Savvy 9.5/10. Try to climb Cameron Highland and you'll know what kind of fun you'll get with Savvy

Clean the throttle body.


Check power steering switch for leaks or blocks. If ok, then it's the PS pump.


Good, only buy a MANUAL for less heart & head-ache. Check ignition coil, lower arm, power steering line + switch, engine mountings, timing & FEAD belts, rear spindle if <2008 and finally ask for service record.
Rest, just check for any tell tale signs of accidents & repairs.

planning to change my tyre next weekend, still using stock 14" rim. I read somewhere that NCT5 is not a good tyre. Some said i should change to Conti CC5. is it suitable with the stock 14" rim? is it easy to find? can someone recommend me a shop in klang valley. preferebly puchong/subang jaya/shah alam area.

sound from inside cabin area (direct from steering wheel ) or sound from outside? Inside might be steering clockspring, outside would be front bearings. I'm banking more on the clockspring.

Mudah.my a lot if you don't mind secondhand Taiwan rims. There's a tyre shop near Pandan Mewah claiming that their price is the same like Rawang and Klang. Not sure where the shop exactly located.

Actually how is the quality of Taiwan rims? Price is so much difference if compare to Conti rims... how about quality wise?

open steering column covers, see if anything is loose. if no, remove steering & clockspring assembly and check (best you can). reassemble if not the steering wheel or clockspring. and check down the column. pray hard sound not there cos if yes, it's either the bearings or the shaft inside.. either way : replace steering rack...

since i bought my savvy,it really rawks but 1 thing i feel "xbest" is the car is lowered,maybe too much..when i drive over a bongol with 2 passenger,it will hit the sideskirt..
now im thinking of changing the tyres so that the car heigthen abit..so is it ok for me to do this?

best to have it reverted to its original springs. changing tires (except to smaller tires which is not recommended) will not cure, it may even exacerbate the problem.

oo..but if i change into bigger tyres or rims will it help heighten the car?

yes, higher profile tyres and bigger rims will slightly heighten your car

yes it will heighten the car. but since its bigger the wheels will be more nearer to the metal (wheel wells) and when the car is loaded it they will contact and cause problems.

today my car spun 270 degrees on the flyover near the ldp puchong toll. luckily theres no car or motocycle around. i dont know its the tyre problem or what. using nct 5 goodyear, grip sucks when the road is wet. careful guys.

at a turn / kona? if yes, next time don't brake while cornering. the brakes got no abs (for older & lower models) and can easily lock causing you to spin. I already kena several times. And yes, NCT5 sucks big time. Go change when possible. All my spins kena when on NCT5. One time almost masuk hutan liao. Now on wider tires with better threads even cross water pool no problem, only very slight pull instead of nct's trademark pull like wanna accident..

I bought wider tyres but that made my fc suffer. Using michelin xm2, not recommended coz cant make a full turn...d tyres will hit the arch.

guys the mechanic checked my car and told me, that my clutch plate position is 41, and i have to change my clutch plate very fast, if not i risk of damaging my robotic arm too. is that true?

Recommended tires? Dunno leh. I got no brand preference. Mine currently CS Sportcat5 185/55/15 front, cannot remember brand 195/50/15 rear. Works very well on any road condition & much better cornering. A lot more composed, no bodyroll feel. FC still maintain at 0.11-0.12c /km.

For clutch, mind telling how the mech checked? I don't recall seeing any numbers even through PDT. Clutch kit will set you back around RM250-450 minus labor.

well.. they say a pix is worth a thousand words rite? this is what happened the last time the car spin.. ended up with new bumper, front grill, skirt & 1 headlite. Had to change rims also since old one cracked. After that, so long NCT5, I will NEVER buy another one ever again.

nope. no need actually. just need to clean fan and blower. cleaning the entire system needed on very old cars only or if you don't mind the charges and want to do so.

For power steering switch, can topup but get power steering leak sealant type. Like STP stop leak or Gold Eagle. About RM24 per bottle. Only need a little bit. That should help stop the leaking.

Hi guys, how to activate auto locking mechanism?

Its like when you inside car while its idle, or driving for a few minutes, the doors should lock by itself right? How?

mine i install it.. cost me around rm70..

the standed one doesnt come with auto lock i think, correct me if i'm wrong..

well when the seller and i were talking one time inside the car it locked by itself. so i believe it has, but it won't happen now. on the key there is 2 buttons, one for lock/unlock and the other when i press the car sounds the alarm. not sure how to configure everything back the way it was. any idea?

RM58? u just repaired or changed parts? my car also got wung wung noise right now, not feel cmfortable when driving though.

Proton's OEM alarm has no autolock feature. It has auto-arm but no auto-lock or even brake lock. Suggested go change alarm system. The OEM one isn't that superb really. The shock sensor is built into the controller box for one. Meaning it's not as sensitive as add-on sensors. Other "extras" also missing.. heh

Hye guys. I am savvy MT owner for the past 4 years. Recently my savvy got problem during shifting gear. Out of sudden my savvy lost power during climbing hills and the car jerking during idle. that'd be the infamous coil problem. not the coil itself, just the plug connectors. 1 or more (usually more) has a leak. Just change the coil to new one. That'll fix it. Where to get? Contact Jiash or airline.

I had this problem too even. then i send my car to proton service center. they said problem with my coil and the plug connector. the old model need to change both. after change the coil+connector, problem not really solved. I've been advised to go to renautech or rs auto to get my tdc sensor cleaner. i'm planning to that for my 50k service. hopefully it will solve my power loss and jerking problem.

I went to Renautech last weekend. Got my Throttle Body cleaned, tdc cleaned and modified, flushed AMT hydraulic oil with Renaultmatic D3 (RM48). Total cost RM122.

Car feels nice. Almost zero jerk now.

USJ. Cheaper than I expected. They even top up my Power Steering Oil using new bottle for free. Now my car feels good. Minimal jerking

this symptom can also be caused by faulty O2 sensor. it happened to me when my MT savvy was ONLY 1 week old. unbelievable. engine check light also dint light up. SC can only detect tis prob using PDT.

Guys, anyone tried fully sync Engine Oil before? planning to give it a try ady. hehe. every 3 months service quite mafan for me. planning to service every 10k @ 4 months

Went back for Eneos Oil so far that't the best for me. Have not tried Q8, Motul and so on dont know where to get them. Anyway used 5w-30 eco touring coupled with Revo Engine Treatment and STP Fuel Cleaner.

proton's version of auto-arm? that's easy. lock the car. then unlock and leave it. don't do anything. if it works, after 30secs or so, the car should lock itself.

anyone changed the front brake disc? did anyone know how much it would cost for proride performance brake disc? mine got very loud bunyi during braking, the disc not rata dy.

go skim nia usually dont need change. RM40 - RM50 per side.

yeah.. just skim the disc.. discs are not cheap der..

yeah i know not cheap, got one shop near my place selling proride stuff. RM2++ per disc

but i don't mine spend more if it can last long. if skim can 100% sure can eliminate the bunyi? i scared i go skim then after few month the bunyi came back.
