hi, need some guide.

planning to change my tyre next weekend, still using stock 14" rim. I read somewhere that NCT5 is not a good tyre. Some said i should change to Conti CC5. is it suitable with the stock 14" rim? is it easy to find? can someone recommend me a shop in klang valley. preferebly puchong/subang jaya/shah alam area.

change rims wont get u anywhere ,

the most unsignificant thing , if u plan have look then sure it will do the job.
*
that's what i was thinking. so, back to the question, does conti cc5 suitable with the stock 14" rim? i've read some bad review of the NCT5 tyres, so i guess i need to rule that out. cool2.gif

Hye guys. I am savvy MT owner for the past 4 years. Recently my savvy got problem during shifting gear. Out of sudden my savvy lost power during climbing hills and the car jerking during idle. Hope u guys can help me identify what actually happend to my savvy. I live near sepang n bandar baru nilai. Someone who knows any mechanic that familiar with savvy around this area? Or we can meet and check on my car. Hope i can get feed back from u guys.
*
I had this problem too even. then i send my car to proton service center. they said problem with my coil and the plug connector. the old model need to change both. after change the coil+connector, problem not really solved. I've been advised to go to renautech or rs auto to get my tdc sensor cleaner. i'm planning to that for my 50k service. hopefully it will solve my power loss and jerking problem.

after 2 years using original NCT5, i changed my tyre today. as recommended by most savvy users, i changed to Continental CC5 165/55/R14 at K&F Auto Car Care Services USJ19. The price is RM200 each. I don't know if the price is high or low, i saw the price sticker is around RM254 if i'm not mistaken. I just went to the shop because it's the first shop with Continental logo i saw today.

I feel the difference immediately! very smooth and very quiet! although the tyre is smaller than NCT5 (165/60/R14), but i think it's okay.

my manual savvy has modified its tdc sensor for almost 2 years now. since then, no more 2nd gear jerking or hard to start prob. never clean also since modification.

recently changed tyres to Kumho KH17 @ RM165/piece. ori size at 165/60R14. much better than NCT 5, quieter, softer side wall n better grip!
*
woah. so cheap ah? i have no experience with Kumho, and never heard any review before. should've asked a little bit more. hehe

sifus,

i have a supernoob question. when tyre changed, does the tyre pressure need to change also? savvy got label near rear door saying the recommended pressure is 220 kPa for front and 200 kPa for rear.

Previously, i'm using the stock NCT5 so i follow the label. Now i changed to conti CC5, should i use the same tyre pressure (220/200) ?

Can tell me fuel consumption of Savvy?
from What i googled, so much different answer, what is the reason?
*
i track my fuel consumption since February 2010 using an iphone app. based on the data, my average fuel consumption is 14.7km/L which is nearly 13 cent per km. the best fc i got is 17km/L. i guess that was while i'm on a highway. smile.gif i think i drive fairly well, not speeding much. although in the first few months i got my savvy, i tried to reach the published top speed a few times. 180km/h is possible with that small car biggrin.gif i also check my tire pressure quite frequent. every 2 full tanks (barely 2 weeks).

eh i think 165. haha not 175. how much for ur cc5?
*
i paid 800 around a month ago. people said that is very expensive because can get cheaper somewhere else. i don't want to wait longer to survey after i notice there's a small crack on both of rear tires. so, i went to the first tire shop i found. too risky to drive around.
so, ask around. i think you can find a cheaper price.

according to my iphone app, the best fc i got so far is 16.8km/l !! like kidmad, i think i achieve this fc after i got saman for speeding on kajang silk highway. the main reason i love this small car is the fc. my gf left me her myvi 1.5 se for two weeks with full tank, but i still use my own savvy. hehe.

to answer bro Flamingfox:
1. Wider tyres (175/65/14) but it's quieter and my gps is now accurate - i think someone once told me wider tyres means heavier tyres. so, it can affect the FC
2. I do many short trips like less than 5km. - short trip do consume more fuel.
3. If I do long trips, I drive at 120km/h-140km/h. - i think if you want to drive fast, maintain the speed, don't accelerate much. if banyak brake, then accelerate = consume more fuel
4. Go through lots of jams. - main reason
5. Sometimes, I rev to between 3-4k, then only I change gear. - agree with kidmad, this too!

i just ordered Liqui Moly for my 50k svc. tonight cod. will write a review later.

n00b Q: what is revo? how to use it? price?

another n00b Q: what is the difference between 10W-40 and 10W-30 engine oil? how much does it affects the fuel consumption? since i buy my car, i only send to proton svc center, now warranty habis at 50k km, i'm planning to go to renautech tomorrow. at proton svc, always use syntium 800 10W-40, now i'm buying Liqui Moly 10W-30. what difference should i expect?

went to Renautech yesterday for first time service outside Proton. I am impressed! The problem that proton failed to rectify in the last 15,000 km is fixed by Renautech in minutes. The car was lacking power before, hard to start sometimes and jerking a lot in lower gear. as suggested by other forumers, it is the tdc sensor problem. So, after the service, the car runs smoother! i almost forgot how fun it was to drive this small car.

basically this is the things that were done yesterday:
1. change manual transmission oil
2. standard lubricants services.
3. service rear brake
4. service throttle body
5. service flywheel sensor and modified the wiring

i bring my own oil (Liqui Moly 10W-30). the service costs me around RM260.

Will come again to Renautech. hehe.

boss how is LM 10w-30 as compared to your previous oil? Hehe now using tesco oil for i think around 200km only long way more to service tongue.gif
*
Previously only using Synthium 800. right now i change the oil and also service everything, the performance is better. but i dont know whether it is because LM oil or clean tdc and throttle body tongue.gif but, price wise RM108 is ok lah. i think about the same with Synthium 800. William recommend another oil which he claimed suitable for savvy. i dont remember the brand but the price is rm120 for 4 liter. the packaging is in green tin can (not plastic bottle like most oil)

hurmm LM has a significant improvement on my Myvi. Previous Shell Helix is really useless. I will be heading back for a long ride this weekend. Let's see how good is the Tesco Fully Syn brand oil.
*
i'll be having long drive to Johor this weekend. maybe i can evaluate my car performance on the highway later. hehe (but i'm not going to drive very fast, takut saman and takut mati) tongue.gif

my next target is to re-install the original front skirt. my skirt damaged on 1st april 2010, hit a monkey on Karak Highway (Savvy, can stand godzilla but langgar monyet terus radiator bocor) i dunno where can find cheap, proton price is quite expensive. i dont really like the OEM or R3 skirting. i can say i'm a traditional person. hehe.

this year target (if cukup duit lah)
1. re-install front skirt and right fog light (monkey accident damage)
2. ketuk small dent on the boot (mat rempit hit and run)
3. anti-roll bar
4. if cukup duit, maybe i wanna repaint the whole car. Pearl White seems nice. (my car is called The Black Pearl by my friends) biggrin.gif

i haven't done any research for the cost for all that. if i'm not mistaken, the fog light cost about rm140. original skirt maybe less than rm600 w/ paint and install (oem can get for RM340 w/ paint and install). ketuk and repaint the rear side maybe around 300-400. anti-roll bar=no idea. repaint also no idea. hehe

some ppl suggest i put the hard-foam thingy (forget what it's called). harden the body and less noise. but i haven't read much about it

QUOTE(Mido_Ban @ Apr 6 2012, 10:49 AM)
sorry, is there any renaultech in jb? i really hate going to proton sc.
*
i believe there's only one Renautech, which is in USJ.

Hehe boss the front skirt siap pasang RM160 only. It's lip without paint la. Ketuk front i th ink + - RM100. I have the same problem. I langgar lori tayar. sad.gif koyak skirt and bumper. I'm so sad.
*
hehe. i asked someone who sell the front lip on LYN, he quoted me RM340 for front lip+paint+installation. i believe proton original is way more expensive than that. to repaint whole car how much normally cost ah? maybe i'll just kumpul duit then do everything (ketuk, skirt, repaint) at once. next month perhaps i can buy the fog light first. biggrin.gif

bro i reckon you to do that. But i'm not going to do it this year sad.gif i need to do the same thing also. Ketuk, repaint and skirting along. Need to prepare for wedding liao. Afraid if i spend 2k on this i might lose some carat in the diamond ring i am going to buy. HAHA tongue.gif

Adding on maybe going to change car also so... i really dont know. haha
*
ah. i need to watch my expenses for the car as well, my gf might get jealous. tongue.gif for the time being, changing car haven't crossed my mind at all. i guess i just don't want to add more to the monthly commitment. have to save money for wedding too. plus, my gf drive a Myvi, i dont see any need for bigger car (for now). i'd rather spend the extra on buying a house. i prefer driving savvy and living in a nice home than driving a bigger car, but smaller home or renting. thumbup.gif

okay, first long run after service. overall, i am very satisfied with the car performance. i was speeding a lot on my way to jb. because i wanna try the car. better acceleration compared to before service, engine is quieter. i was driving 120-130km/h and sometimes speed up to 170 (hopefully no saman) and my fuel consumption is 14.6km/L. (i was expecting 15). So, on my way back from JB, i drive carefully. (mau jimat). just arnd 100-120km/h. but the traffic went slow from port dickson to bangi because of heavy rain. then sampai kl, terus isi minyak to check my fc. got 15.9km/L! which is good enough for me! biggrin.gif

next service 60k km, i plan to flush the engine.

btw, i saw the new Proton Preve on the highway (partially covered, of course). Very fast! i was actually trying to catch it up when i was driving 170, but i surrender lah. and it's a good looking car as well. smile.gif
