Hi gang, I have some news that can save you money when you service your air con smile.gif

If you read my previous post, you would know that I was having air con problem where the gas was leaking very fast. It was discovered that it was the Cooling Coil (also known as Evaporator) was leaking. I think quite a number of you have suffered from this.

I have read online that most workshop charge RM400+ just for the parts and not yet the labour. The air con shop that I went to in Subang also quoted me RM400-500 just for the part.

I didn't think it would be that expensive, so I went to Proton Parts Centre (PPC) to ask for the part.

PPC only charged me RM292 for the cooling coil!!! Imagine how much the air con shop try to cut throat!!

So if you have a similar problem, go and buy the cooling coil from PPC, workmanship to fix it is quite standard everywhere I have checked, about RM400+ but at least you can save from the part smile.gif

Note:

When you go to PPC, don't call it a cooling coil. In their system, this part is called an EVAPORATOR. If you say "cooling coil" sometimes they can't find what you need.

This is how the evaporator looks like:

Thanks but need to ask:

1. Where is the Proton Parts Centre (PPC)?  Any exact address or GPS coordinate?
2. How much did the labor of replacing it costed?  The cooling coil is inside the dashboard, and that is to be dismantled then replaced back to access the evaporator.

Hi,

You can find the necessary contact info for PPC here: http://www.protonparts.com.my/
Yes, the cooling coil is in the dashboard and it has to be completely dismantled. I was charged about RM400 labour, including new gas.
