QUESTION : Any procedure with pics or video how to clean the throttle body sensor, or tdc sensor that is?  just wanna get ideas.

Wow i never thought 2005 savvy price still around 17k-ish. I thought of selling mine and bought upcoming proton model sometime next year. I don't think I can afford a new car this year. I already starts paying more than I supposed to pay monthly because I thought current market price is below than my loan balance. Mine still has around 15k.

All sifus mostly lepak at savoc . net

Try register an account at that forum and you can open a thread and ask around.

I'd suggest go for Manual if you don't want a hassle maintaining an AMT. I myself driving AMT (2006 production) and I admit it has few problems. I don't say it as a problematic car because it's just a wear and tear issue. On the other hand, MT version is almost problem free besides the power steering switch and ignition coil which can be replaced for less than RM500. Ignition coil China brand can get as low as RM230 with installation while the power steering switch issue can be fixed for less than RM400. The engine is very robust. Mine clocked 140,000km already and no single problem with the engine. Mind you that my driving style is quite rough. I do 170kmh quite frequently especially during long hour drives (KL-JB-KL in a day twice a week). The best thing about Savvy is the handling. If Myvi handling 3/10, I'd give Savvy 9.5/10. Try to climb Cameron Highland and you'll know what kind of fun you'll get with Savvy  brows.gif

Added on January 19, 2012, 3:29 pmAnother thing I want to add is most of Savvy owners know how to fix their cars just by DIY. So you don't have to rely on any mechanics. Even Renault specialist also don't have so much knowledge on how to fix Savvy.
*
I've been driving mine (manual) for 6 years plus now. It is still serve me well. But I'm not lenjan type of driver. Even on highway i rarely drive exceeded 120kmh. Hahaha.
But I do service periodically and change any wear and tear parts when needed.

stop! better don't! no where close to Eneos Eco Touring. I recently tested Liqui Moly 10w-30 and the result is so damn impressive. My next oil change for savvy would be the same oil.
hurm...  hmm.gif  P321A out liao my colleague keep asking me to get one la. haha im getting influence with the bugger who drive Jetta. He say the car only difference with his Jetta is the DSG technology. I'm going to proton showroom for a test ride once they have the car. haha

Might have to ditch my savvy for it tongue.gif
*
i'm planning to ditch mine for proton preve as well, but i don't think this year. if i want to sell my savvy right now i think need to top up to the bank some more.

Buying used car?

First off go JPJ, pay RM10, get them to check got insurance claim or not. If got, probably accident before. Advised to skip, get another one.
If first one pass, see milage. Some are too high, some are too low compared to year of production. These are hints on expected service maintenance you gonna have to do.
Check :
- service record to see if owner properly service or not - if not skip the car
- body / outlook for dents, scratches or any other tell-tale signs of possible mishaps
- check exhaust for signs of rusting (original piping has this notorious problem that people seem to miss)
- tire treads (amazingly you can tell owner actually take care or not just by the tires - bring a friend if not sure)
- condition of engine bay (similar reason to above)
- ignition coil, if old type, you'll need to change. If new, good
- outside belting condition
- gear shifting smooth or hard
- pedal play for all 3. old clutch cable will be hard to press and might have noise. suggested to replace
- start the engine and listen for any abnormal noise (again bring a friend who's familiar with the car)
- test drive and get a feel. notice any jerks or power loss (anything not considered normal) when driving
- during test drive, don't drive like driving school. drive properly. vary speed & gears. go as fast as you can and as slow as you can
- all pass, check the rest, signal, hazard, horn, lights etc
- ask owner when was last service and what was done. as kidmad pointed out, belting might need to change if owner never changed but if he/she just did, no point you go change again..

That's all i can think of right now.. Good luck~ smile.gif

Regarding clutch cable, I don't think savvy's clutch cable is soft. It's only soft during first few weeks after you changed to new one, after that it goes back to normal feel. I know because I already changed one. At first I thought the new one is different kind because it's super soft. Hahaha.

my savvy already got 3-4month nodisturb TDC sensor.

previous  , every month disturb ,

i wash thorough enough : D

i never missed one crank start
*
I never had problem with tdc sensor since when i changed ignition coil in rs auto many years ago, they modified tdc sensor for me as well. My car is already 7 years and contemplating to trade in and buy a new car. What is the current market price for savvy manual 2005? The car loan balance around rm12k.

During 7 years period i have changed ignition coil twice, the rocket like sensor, driver side power window switch and driver side seat belt. Other things are normal wear and tear maintenance as in manual booklet.

I checked with ambank system, savvy mt manual 2005 is valued at around 17k. But i think actual market price is much lower than that.

hi there, checking in.

I've been driving this car for four years. No major issue yet. Nearing major service soon (timing belt change, gear oil change). Can recommend any good workshop in Nilai, Sepang, Puchong, Kajang or Bangi?
*
I have done mine at speedmag prima saujana, in fact it is my preferred workshop to service my savvy now , first and foremost because it is near to my house and their pricing is also reasonable.
