It was GREAT to know that Anupam Shrivastava (General Manager, SCB Retail Banking Products Malaysia) decides to maintain the 0.5% Cashback until further notice

With the RM228 Free Cash promotion ended on 31 May 2011, they better come with an even better deal to attract new cardmembers.

Suggestion for SCB Cash Back Credit Card
1. 6% Cash-Back for ALL spends on Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Monthly Cap : >RM50)
2. 5% Cash-Back for Petrol, Dining, Groceries, Utilities, Pharmacies, Cinemas, Bookstores (Monthly Cap : >RM50)
3. 2% Cash-Back for other spends
4. No ChoicePoints will be given
5. Annual Usage Bonus of RM50
6. Free-for-life (i.e. no AF)
7. Immediate Cash-Back posting (2-3 days after transaction is posted)

The SCB Platinum cash back of 0.5% is like the standard norm where we also get approximately 0.5% in returns with points.

Edited/Updated

August 2012, is the best time to go apply for the Standard Chartered Business Platinum or Gold credit card. Reason being StanChart is offering FREE money for credit cards approved in August. And to top that, the SCB Business Platinum and Gold credit cards approved in July and August 2012 are eligible for 5% cash back for Petrol thumbup.gif But, as usual, there are terms and conditions, click below link to read more.

Good luck. I think even if you don't get the RM228, you can still ask for the 11000 ChoicePoints to waive the GST.

About the latest promotion, anyone has any idea if the RM1,500 has to be done first before the dining spending can commence receiving rebates.

Their example in T&C

QUOTE
Qualifying Spend during the First Qualifying Period is RM1,500.
Dining charges during the First Qualifying Period is RM500.
The 25% CashBack is RM125.
Wonder what will be the rebates given for the scenarios below

Example Scenario (within same month)

Spend RM500 in Dining first
Spend RM1000 on Others later

Rebate - RM 125 or RM 0?

Example 2 (within same month)

Spend RM200 on Dining first
Spend RM1300 on Others
Spend RM300 on Dining after that

Rebate - RM 125 or RM 75?

Yes, it's stated in the t&c. Spend at least RM1500 on retail charges for a particular period (or month), then you'll get 25% rebate on your food for that particular period/month. And you also need to meet their conditions, like register your cc first (for 38k customer only), received confirmation, etc.

Just clarified with CS a few things :-

1. You must first SMS and receive the confirmation from them to be eligible.

2. You will be eligible for 25% cashback for all dining swipes in the month, provided you have spent RM1,500 or more for that month. Therefore you can spend RM600 on dining and RM900 on anything else and you will receive RM150 cash back.

3. Each month is treated separately, meaning if you spent RM1,500 in June and nothing in July, you will still get the 25% for the dining spending in June. You are not required to spend another RM1,500 in July unless you wish to get 25% cashback in July as well.

4. The maximum cashback awarded per card in RM150 for the whole promotion.

Started my Dining spend for June 2011... hope to get the 25% cash-back rebate.

Another question: As long as I'm within the 38,000 cardmembers who registered successfully, I will get the 25% rebate, right ?

The RM1500 spend is based on Qualifying Period (1 to 30 June 2011 and 1- 31 July 2011), Not based on Statement Date.

I wonder if monthly payment (auto-debit) to Insurance can be counted as part of the RM1500 spending ?

Better if you try to delay all your big dining spending in July. RM150 cash back equivalent to RM750. So, in July you can still charge another RM750 to make it RM1500 qualifying spending.

That's wrong... RM1500 is per spending month (1-30 June or 1-31 July), not combined.
RM150 cashback = RM600 dining spend

Yah, what I mean is that if you have difficulty to maintain RM1.5k per month, why not defer all the dining spending and combine it to make it RM1.5k qualifying spending in July. Anyhow, the total cashback rebate is RM150. So, defer all your dinings and spendings to July will do as well, if you have no confidence to have qualifying spending RM1.5k in June.

Guys,

Once received the confirmation, consider eligible for it, right? I just helped my boss bought an air ticket for 1.4k, so must take this opportunity to feast. BTW, what if the MCC code does not match those of a dining category? Still eligible right?

Came across their booth at MIECC yesterday, and was told that a 1-year EPF statement is required.
I've a question though, since I've just started working, is it possible for my dad to act as a guarantor or sorts in place of the EPF statement?

Thanks for any feedback.

RM1500 is for retail spending including dining... Not RM1500 on diniing only.
Please read the promo T&C properly.

Each cardmember can get maximum RM150 cash back for the entire promotion. @25%, that's a nett spending of RM600 on dining ONLY.
Eg.
A table for 6 at Ah Yat Abalone cost RM699++
A table for 4 at Dragon-i Restaurant cost RM399++

actually the cash rebate is less than 25%

need to spend at least rm3000 (june and july)

max cash rebate is rm150 only

150 / 3000 = 5%

u get only 5% rebate which is same for mbb 2 amex on weekend and ocbc titanium. Of course you still got points and rebates if u are business visa platinum holder. Total maximum you will get after added in points and rebates is 6% only for biz visa platinum cc holder

the t&c stated u need to spend rm1500 for 2 months in order to qualify, and there is only rm150 allocated for this both months

Care to share which T&C states we must spend RM3000 ?

QUOTE
5b. Spend a total of at least RM1,500 on his/her same Debit or Credit Card for retail charges ("Qualifying Spend") during one particular Qualifying Spend Period stated in the table below

The 10% nett cashback is the maximum possible.
*
The extra Qualifying Spend during the first Qualifying Spend Period will not be carried forward for the second Qualifying Spend Period. For example, if a Cardholder spends RM3,000 in the first Qualifying Spend Period, the extra RM1,500 will not be considered as Qualifying Spend for the second Qualifying Spend Period.

The same principle applies for the calculation of the dining charges to award the 25% CashBack where dining charges made during the first Qualifying Spend Period will not be taken into account for calculating the Qualifying Spend of the second Qualifying Spend Period.

Spend at least RM1,500 per month on anything, not just dining.

let say you have hit rm150 cash back in first month, then u can stop spending with your scb card already and wait for the cash back to be credited into ur account. If not, then u have to spend another rm1500 in second month in order to get the remaining cash back which u didnt get in first month

I just realised that Standard Chartered has implemented a new security measure for credit card payment lately. An email alert contains brief info of your purchase and payment amount, will be sent to your email address upon over certain payment threshold.

So far, I received emails alert whenever my payment over RM3k for both retail purchase and online payment. No phone call from the customer service officer anymore. wink.gif

Guys, pls check your registered email address with SCB!! nod.gif

Now waiting for UOB to do so as well as I just cancelled it as well, but I guess they are slow.

A bit off topic, but anyone tried this for Citibank Clear card where when u cancel, they will waive the GST?

I went to SCB's branch and cancelled it. Hmm...I guess Citibank would rather lose customers than paying for the RM50. They really believe in the benefits they are providing to cardholders are attractive enough. How often do u use the card?

I did not swipe it for the last one year and I had every intention to cancel it. What am I gonna do with the extra 1K points? Use the card and collect up to 10K just to exchange for some measly voucher? I'd rather use other cards that give u instantly more - like cash rebates. tongue.gif

Yeah...I saw that in their before last time as well...but still, I will need to use another 4K before I get another 4K points. See, the "evil" they make u do.
Better I spend this 4K with 5% / 7.5% rebate? Even though I know now they're offering the 25% dining cash back for these two months but, my
monthly food bill does not reach their minimum amount.

On a side note, for F&B industry, usually these are the 2 slowest months in the year if I'm not mistaken. Anyone from F&B industry, correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Analysis
You can spend RM900(other retail spending) + RM600 (Dining) to get RM150 Cash back in one single month (either June or July)
That's 10% Nett Cash Back (or 11% if using the SCB Business Visa)

i dont understand this. If only getting 10% cash back, why is the promotion says 25% ?

that is the one of the trick used by citibank shell card. maximum cashback u can get is rm150. that mean u are only allowed to spend up to max rm600 for dinner. BUT u need to spend another rm900 to make it rm1500 in one month and it doesnt giving u any cashback at all.

so it will be 150/1500 = 10% cashback. The extra rm900 which doesnt entitle for cashback that u spent drag down the cashback value

SCB VI is bundled together with SCB Priority Banking. You must be a SCB Priority Banking to get SCB VI. To enrol into SCB Priority Banking you need RM250k investment or RM800k of mortgage.

Another way to enrol into SCB Priority Banking is to signup under Employee Banking program, but your minimum salary must be RM16k and above, this is for a 1 year trial period. After the 1 year to need to maintain RM250k AUM.

Another way to enrol into SCB Priority Banking is to signup under Employee Banking program, but your minimum salary must be RM16k and above, this is for a 1 year trial period. After the 1 year to need to maintain RM250k AUM.
The official website did not stated the conditions, thats why i'm wondering...hmmm. thanks

Anyway, just so you are aware, other than thr RM72K annual income, you will also need to open a preferred account with them. Good luck brows.gif

As long as you SMS within that month, all transactions for that month is counted.. Ensure you get the Registration successful SMS.
Refer to no. (5) of the T&C : http://www.standardchartered.com.my/person...back25/tnc.html

I have completed my RM600 dining spend ... now just wait for the RM150 to be creditted on 29 August 2011.

First, you call the SCB CS line to tell your intention to cancel.
The CS will either give you 11,000 ChoicePoints to offset RM50 GST... don't agree and proceed to cancel.
The next day, agent from Price Solution will call you and try to retain you with the RM100 cash credit.

The above is what my friend encountered. Your experience could differ.

9a. Successful Registration during the first SMS Registration Period between 1 June 2011 (12:00 am) to 30 June (11:59pm) will have his/her Qualifying Spend during the first Qualifying Spend Period (1 June – 30 June 2011) and second Qualifying Spend Period (1 July – 31 July 2011) being considered for the Promotion.

Abit confuse here. I have succesfully registered on the 1st period (middle June) and I just swiped RM2500 for a non-dining item. So I will be receiving the 25% cashback for all my dinings during the [u]1st and 2nd period as well, i.e. 1 June 2011 - 31 July 2011?

If that is the case, what is the meaning of the following?

QUOTE

The same principle applies for the calculation of the dining charges to award the 25% CashBack where dining charges made during the first Qualifying Spend Period will not be taken into account for calculating the Qualifying Spend of the second Qualifying Spend Period.

then swipe rm1000 for dinner at a Chinese Restaurant at DamansaraJaya in mid-june.
So to get the RM150 cash back I need to swipe another RM500 on any transaction on or before 30-June, is that right?
Just want to double check, in case I overlook other T&C.

In order to get the 25% cash back on dining bills in June, you need to swipe at least RM1,500 in total (including dining) in the same month.

Simple answer is YES, you still need another spend of RM500 (either dining or other retail purchases, transaction done before 30 June 2011)

I hope SCB extend this 25% cashback promo as it is better if not on par with MBB2 AMEX. Assuming a RM2000 transaction (RM600 on dining), simple calculation:

MBB2 AMEX: 10k TP (RM50) + 5% max (RM50) = RM100

vs

SCB: 2k CP (RM10) + 0.5% for business visa (RM10) + 25% dining max (RM150) = RM170

SCB still give more return for RM1500 transaction (RM300 on dining). Drawback is the min RM1500 to qualify. No AMEX acceptance and weekend constraint whistling.gif

I agree that this promo should continue every month ... hahaha. 25% cash-back dining per month
A better comparison would be spend of RM1500 (RM900 others + RM600 dining)

Maybankard2 AMEX : 7500 TP (RM37.50) + 5% Weekend Cash-back (RM50) = RM87.50
SCB Business Visa : 1500 CP (RM7.50) + 0.5% Cash-back (RM7.50) + 25% Dining Cash-Back (RM150) = RM165 icon_rolleyes.gif brows.gif rclxms.gif

At least you do not need to fork out cash or use your existing hard-earn points to redeem the RM50 service tax waiver.

Yesterday I called the CS hotline and asked for the RM100 retaining incentive. My request was turned down immediately.

RM100 is given by Price Solutions agent end (follow-up call on the next day), the Hotline CS has no power to do that.

Does anyone else having problem with their e-statement? Ever since i got their card, has not been able to unlock their statement with the password that they pre-set for us.

Other than that, does anyone has a list of the restaurants / affliates that they have promotion with? Cant seem to find any on their website.

Better register asap... not all 38,000 CC holders who had registered could achieve the RM1500 minimum spend.

Change the e-Statement via SCB Online Banking Portal

Now it's only RM88 cash-back for new sign-ups

Yes. They may waive it. Ensure you use the SCB card. If you don't intend to use BUT to earn free cash, cut it after you utilise the free cash.

Thanks for the info. I only interested on their 25% dining cash back, but on top of that, you have to spend 1.5k in total within a month. doh.gif

Dining + Retail spends = RM1500

You spend RM600 in dining, then you need RM900 in other retail spends
You spend RM500 in dining, then you need RM1000 in other retail spends
:
:
so on....

25% Cash-back at maximum RM150 for whole promotion means spend RM600 is sufficient to hit the max

Yup, you better call in one month earlier.
Otherwise, when GST is charged into your bill, and SCB refuses to offer points to offset GST, you have no choice but fork out RM50 before you can cancel the card.
I have set a reminder in my handphone for this GST thing.

Please be informed that the request to increase the credit limit will require you to submit your latest 3 months pay slip together with a written letter to the bank requesting for credit limit increase. You may send the pay slip attached to the Malaysia.Feedback@sc.com for further processing. Should you require any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer care hotline at 1-300-888-888 or email to us.  Thank you for banking with Standard Chartered Bank.

I think the procedure for upgrading to platinum is the same. Do remember to ask if you need to pay the GST again for the upgraded card.

Time to activate "cancellation mode" for SCB Business Visa and hope to spend their RM100 retention fee (if any).

SCB normally gives high credit limit? Mine approved with RM40k limit. SCB Business Visa.
*
Many says SCB is generous for the high credit limit. I just applied for CL increase, and what they offered is just a mere 5K, which the total CL is about the same as my monthly salary.

I'm so disappointed, and will look for other banks.

isshhh.. gonna stop using SCB card.
ngam ngam 10k choice points, T_T cannot redeem RM50 cash back..

Yeah, I have accummulated for years, and suddenly they made the change without any notice. Aaih, maybe SCB has gained enough customer base, and changed their strategy to maximize profit instead of customer retention.

I think the CS will offer him $$. For my case, I have tried to cancel my card for 2 years already yet they offer me RM50 to offset the GST. So I just keep the card (Not a single swipe since day 1, dunno why they 12 retain me). The card actually came from my housing loan application but in the end I did not take the loan.

Most likely I will hold on to this card until the 2 yr free waiver offer lapse. Hoping they will introduce more promos similar to the 25% cash back. So far it has given me more benefits, esp in terms of dining discounts.

Hi, I just subscribed to sms alert service and it is free. It provide u sms alert for every transaction when u used u credit card. COOL..

But, HSBC's credit card is different. U need to pay RM 1.00 per month for the service, but they will not alert u on every transaction. Only select transaction item will alert to u.

Based on this, SCB's cc is better than HSBC's cc.

Finally got my SCB Biz Plat cancelled after I lodged a complaint to Bank Negara

SCB was trying to play dirty by offering 11000 choice points to retain their card. Then they force the card holder to hold their card by denying card cancellation until GST is charged if the points offered are utilized for RM50 CashBack

This hidden T&C was not mentioned by the CS when the points are offered

Anyway, this hoo-hah is over. Sayonara SCB

Do you mean the 11000 ChoicePoints given can only be use for RM50 GST ?
If I used the 11000 ChoicePoints (given) + 3000 ChoicePoints (earned) to redeem RM50 cash back, they won't allow you to cancel the card ?

Lousy service by SCB lately.

1. Paid CC by CDM at Lot 10 branch on 26 Jun, forgot to retrieve card, card retained by CDM.
2. Visited branch to retrieve card 1 week later (after trying hard to remember where I lost it), was told card already destroyed since they don't keep more than 3 days (they never called me).
3. Was told replacement card will arrive at my mailing address in 1 week.
4. Card never arrived, called to check, was told sent out 18 Jul.
5. Now 28 Jul, almost 1 month since reported, still haven't received card.

So hard to get a replacement from SCB. If it's not a JustOne, I would have cancelled it and applied for Maybank 2 Kad.

Now that they increase 14,000 ChoicePoints for RM50 cashback, it's not "worth" to redeem unless for RM50 GST.

Ya, 11k points to offset GST. But the points can be also used for cash back

I still managed to redeem RM50 at 10k points before the choice points inflation started

It was sent via CityLink.
Very efficient indeed from SCB Online Rewards program.

Actually, this card is among the best I have used. Points plus unlimited cash back (useful when I helped my boss purchase tickets, car servicing charges in C&C, etc), Jogoya discounts, etc. Only OCBC better it in terms of total amount of cash back for the amount of money I really spent.

Now waiting for 25% cash back to credit into my account. Max it kao kao.

Let us know if you succeeded in getting the 11000 Choice Points creditted.
You should have called them in March the moment you see the GST.
Subsequently, call the CS and they will offer 11000 ChoicePoints directly (no need to threaten them)

Just something to share, stand chart CC took me 6 mths to receive to my hand.

1) I tell them must send to my current place but was insisted to be send back hometown which is 300km away.
2) The system will cancel the card if not active in 1 wk if not wrong.
3) Instructions given that will come and collect the card at branch was not follow, so need rerequest.
4) The CC card must be receive personally by the card requester.
5) The customer service and staff r very lansi, because they oversea bank.
6) Government service tax was waive and a lot of funny excuses
7) ATM machine claims to run 24 hours not working

So, what so good about stand chart card....

11 000 points for GST, there many other banks is much lower than tat...

R u going to spend yearly 11k? Logical?

This is the real experience above....maybe u guys here are to good so will not experience the above....

You only need 10,000 Choice Points to get the RM50 credit card tax waived. Standard Chartered is giving you 1,000 extra yet you are scolding them. I personally think Standard Chartered is very generous. Try to ask other banks such as CIMB Bank, Citibank, HSBC or Maybank if they are going to offer you the same thing.

Not really, CIMB Direct Access is 10k also but the can claim at 5k point = RM25, 2.5K point get RM12.50

HLB if not wrong is less than 10k points, around 8k or 9k if i not remember wrong....

All CIMB Bank does is to give you a more flexible choice by redeeming the GST in full or just partial of it. But seriously, the point value is still EXACTLY the same. And CIMB Bank won't be so generous to offer you free points to offset the credit card tax. At CIMB, you actually need to spend RMxxxx yourself before you'll have any points to redeem the credit card tax. However, you don't need to do the same with Standard Chartered credit card because they are so generous that they give you free points which you can use to redeem the credit card tax without having to fork out your own hard earned points or money.

Well, you are wrong. You also need 10k points to redeem the RM50 credit card tax at Hong Leong Bank. HSBC is the lowest actually for just 9,500 points.

*
thanks for your information....
Anyway canceling CIMB this yr b4 GST no more points d, just redeem the balance then bye bye CIMB rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

HLB no more need the points, now using Fortune Card. I wonder how to redeem the balance almost 7k points left from previous cards......

Depends la got chance try again, since u say std chrt card good ? any card better then UOB platinum 1 card?

Not saying Standard Chartered is good. Just that they are generous with all the free points they give to their credit card holders to redeem the credit card service tax.

OCBC Titianium MasterCard is way better. And then there is this Maybankard 2 cards. There are dedicated threads for these two products. Do check it out.

Just asking, wat do u think of HLB Fortune?

It gives 1% cashback and if the cashback not withdraw, then they give interest based on 3 months FD interest (current interest 3.9%)...

So far spend d, now waiting for 2nd statement to c the interest....

Besides the CSR sucks in follow up things just need to push a bit, others ok la....

HLB Fortune is even worse than HLB Essential. You can refer to bro gen-x blog if u want to know why. Seriously, study carefully, not follow everything what they said in their website. HLB is really very good in making tricks

Insurance, phone bills, petrol and etc easily 1K....

I know HLB and Citi really cash on call however RHB still need to fax back form so is not cash on call. Others did not try...

If have I would not have cancel my Tesco RHB yesterday....

After cancel, the rest of the cards 1st then go for MBB lo. HSBC on the way, AM bank waiting to get the GST back, CIMB kumpul a point bout maybe another 1500 till April 2012...

HLB will cancel if good cash on call la. I tried CitiBank, I still prefer HLB cash on call and the last CSR does a good job ....

Added on August 12, 2011, 4:10 pmRHB call and waive GST and annual fee and ask me the RHB Tesco for 1 more 1 yr....

@gerrardling
RHB do not have cash on call. It is call easy cash, interest 8% per yr 1 time charge.

Still expensive than HLB is 0.5% per month for 6 mths and reducing balance...
Normally, before the due, I already settle left less than RM 10....

Got lower than tat tell me.....

I have 47k SCB points need to use by end of next month. I browse through their website to redeem items seem not many choice. If to redeem cash need to use many points compare to other bank like MBB, e.g. RM 50- 14000 points. the same goes for shopping voucher RM 50 voucher- 13 000

Which is more value for the points to redeem? cash, voucher or items? Retain the card just because of the 0.5% cash back

I think the best is buy it and then redeem cash back lor. Their point requirement is quite high as well. Buying also can ask for discount, but redeem is based on RRP.

I usually would redeem RM50 Shopping Vouchers (Isetan or Giant) for 12000 ChoicePoints.

If that's the case, I'd rather purchase the stuff in SGD and let it be converted back to RM. Furthermore, if you use SCB Platinum or Business Platinum, you can earn 5x choice points.

If that's the case, I'd rather purchase the stuff in SGD and let it be converted back to RM. Furthermore, if you use SCB Platinum or Business Platinum, you can earn 5x choice points.

I have just called the SCB CS to get my 11000 ChoicePoints (takes 3-7 working days to be creditted into my account), after performing 3 transactions (1 online, 1 petrol swipe, 1 F&B swipe)

Yes, 5x choice points benefit is applicable to SCB VI only.

To get 11000 ChoicePoints (for GST redemption), you need to perform minimum 3 CC transactions using that particular card within the same month the GST is charged.

It was a mistake. Although SCB Platinum and Business Platinum give 3x choice points for overseas spending, the super high forex rates from SCB, coupled with high points requirement for redemption, make these Platinum cards not attractive to be used in overseas. If they are given 5x choice points like SCB VI, then it could be another story.

ok some scenario here. Let say the GST is charged on 29-30/6. Are you going to make 3 transactions before or after?

In that case you better clarify with the SCB CS on getting the 11000 ChoicePoints.
IMHO, if you had make 3 transactions prior to the GST being charged (and before statement is generated), you should be entitled for it.

Is there any specific reason you want to retain the SCB CC ?
If SCB doesn't waive the AF, tell them to cancel the card with immediate effect.
This "may" get you the AF waiver...

I applied mine on last Thursday through online. The next day a CS called me for my IC. No payslip required as i stated my other cc in application form. Yesterday i received call from them for verification. Then today my card has been approved! Wow.. It takes only 4 days for whole procedure! Thumbs up!

update regarding platinum wish list:

I request to redeem a seiko watch and the price is RM 500 (price from forumer here)

option given

1) 162k points to get it = 162k/14k (RM 50 cash)
12 vouchers X RM 50= RM 578/RM600

expensive by RM 78/ 100

2) 46k points + RM 573 = RM 164 + 573= RM 737

expensive by RM 237

in this case item that I request is slight expensive if redeem 100% from points and very expensive if redeem points + cash

-but some item in their brochure is cheaper if you redeem your points

i think my decision to redeem shopping voucher is the best

Thank you for the update. I am guessing the price quoted by them is from their specific retailer, thus less discount. Nice points accumulation there.

The 11000 ChoicePoints is given after you have been charged RM50 GST.
To get the 11000 ChoicePoints, you need to perform 3 transaction using the CC (which was charged the RM50 GST)

wana ask, i now have the SCB platinum card. if i apply for the business plainumt (now got promo up to RM178 cash back if apply online) can i then cancel the normal platinum and transfer the choice point to the new business platinum (Platinum Share Points)? 0.5% cash back on the business plat with the RM178 is the main attraction...

Choice Points earned by different SCB cards are all combined. The points will still be there if you cancel one of your SCB cards, as long as you still hold one SCB credit card that earns Choice Points.

As far as I know Standard Chartered Bank Visa Infinite card is only available to their Priority Banking customers, not to anyone who applies. So balance transfer may not be considered? You can always open a priority banking account with minimum of 250,000 ringgit then get the visa infinite card and free priority pass membership.

I got my RM150 for "3025% cashback on Dining" on 26/08/2011 also.
But, we only get one RM150?
Why not RM150 x 2 (for 2 month)?

I spend above RM1500 for both months. So, I can get 25% for the dining bill. But the max is RM150 for two months? Not RM150 for each month?

SCB Business Platinum is better than the normal SCB Platinum. Whatever benefits offered to SCB Platinum can also be found in SCB Business Platinum. On top of that, SCB Business Platinum gives 0.5% cash back for all retail transactions (except petrol). However, if you just want to own MC but not VISA from SCB, then you can only choose SCB Platinum because SCB Business Platinum is a VISA series only.

I think the 3X ChoicePoints for OVERSEAS spending is for all SCB Platinum level cards.

Based on my experience and also as per thread reply above, the only way you will get the offer is if you are always full payment, no outstanding and good/big spender. It's system selected. Their system is risk based and thus normally only those who are AAA+ are eligible tongue.gif

Business plat is definitely better. Apart from the rebate, you get to emboss your company's name on the card as well. I think they only have Visa for Biz Plat. If you want a Master you've to apply for the normal plat card.

Err ... if you don't want it then you shouldn't have used the card in the first place. Call direct to reject.
By using the card, you agree to everything that is stated in the T&C for card usage. Did you read the welcome pack / card which the new card came attached with ?

Yup ... I agree no such thing. Can attempt to ask bank to show/provide evidence of consent for the 6 month moratorium for card cancellation.
I also felt @shiroikun is not entirely fault free as the "pre-approved" card was not cancelled upon receipt - it should have been rejected and to inform the bank immediately if the pre-approved card is not required/acceptance. Using the card (although 1 time), constitute acceptance of the card.

Bank spent a lot of money with lawyers to ensure their T&C is watertight, try to challenge them legally (on the above scenario) and you'll find yourself burned and fried very quickly.

Not true. Every credit card issued by any bank in Malaysia will come "attached" on a piece of white card (written bank name, recipient name + address, etc) inserted into an envelope. Are you aware there's some T&C written on the (and oftenly regarded insignificant) white card? Unlikely your credit card came just in an envelope with absolutely nothing else.

Absolutely not true and non-existant. This T&C (if it does exist) should be written on the application form or disclosure sheet.
The 3-6 months (or whatever month) moratorium for card cancellation exist (if it is being practiced by the bank) in the card application internal policy.

We won't spoon feed you with the answer on what will happen then ... try it / do it and you'll find out the consequences yourself. This way you'll appreciate owning a credit card and not to treat it just for the sake of owning one or for fun.

Wana ask, why SCB still issue me Business Plat visa few days ago while I just get my Personal Plat master in August this year? Anyway, both of them share same credit limit.

New CC applications gets 2-year annual fee waived. 3rd year onwards, call in to get it waived.
Of course Business Visa Gold better as all retail spends (except petrol) gets 0.5% cash-back rebate. PLUS all features of normal Visa Gold

Be aware of the hefty annual fee though. SCB does come out with some attractive dining promotions for all SCB cards recently.

New SCB Infinite card is only granted to PB customers thus no AF applied. GST is still payable by the card holder.

I have not known anyone getting their SCB Infinite waived. Be aware of the hefty AF as mentioned by winner.

Yeap....the infinite is only for their pb customers.

i got the first 2 years annual fee waived, so no harm giving it a try.

frankly, no USP in the card, except for the priority pass. Other than that, just like any other card, i suppose.

chief.....to be fair, I was pleasantly surprised with the SCB VI

u know the rm 50 gst tax - the VI comes with a RM 120 cash back upon activation - so, it comes loaded with a RM 70 credit balance.

1st year SCB VI Free, my new RM said that second year onwards, one have to swipe RM10K/year to get the annual fee waived. But she ensured me that she will get the annual fees waived for me as long as I maintain my PB status. She further told me previously there was another SCB VI (black colour) by invitation which do not need PB Status (maybe that VI needs to pay annual fee).

Another thing I found out is that PB customers get the SCB Platinum Visa Debit/ATM Card for free and there is no transaction fee for overseas cash withdrawal from any ATM machine, pretty good. Come to thing of it, I should go sign up for it for fun and add to my collection.

Phoeni_142: I didn't get the 2 years annual fee waiver nor will I get RM120 cash back sad.gif But my RM said as long as I swipe three times within a certain period (I think she said a month), all I have to do is call CS and the GST will be waived (just like my previous CT offer). But I will be getting a free gift.

Chief, considering u r could get their VI - I presume u r their PB customer. SCB PB's would normally qualify via 2 methods:
1. AUM of 250K and above OR

2. Loans of 800K and above.

More often that not, most PB customers would invest in FD's / UT's. Most of my business with SCB is via mortgages. I just argued with them that I actually contribute more to their P&L as a mortgage customer, vs a UT customer - and said that i deserve a AF waiver + other sweeteners....So, that's how I got my deal, I guess.

Maybe U can try to nego?

Thank you Sir for your reply. No lah, won't nego with them since getting 1st year AF waived and GST can be offset with 3 swipes. Furthermore, most probably next year will even withdraw my funds since SCB FD rates are usually not competitive with other banks. If not for my fetish with CC, I will earn much more in a year time by locking the same funds with HLB Junior FD even after taking into consideration SCB current promo for 3 months. Like I said I am a fool doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

hahaha, fetish was mentioned by another fellow forumer and also called crazy by gerrardling.
The blog ar, as I mentioned in my article Thank You - Guide To My Blog, I started blogging in 2009 because many people here lazy to do search and keep asking the same questions, so thought easier if I just blog it (that time we had only one thread for CC at LYN Forum). Then another forumer said to write more often (got only 1 post per month from 2009 to 2010), so since I freaking free nowadays, write for fun to keep myself entertained. And you can see from the many threads here, people still asking the same questions and still lazy to read the posts or do a search.

@hye,
I did manage to get my AF for the SCB VI waived. When I applied for it then (I think it was maybe 2-3 years ago) they gave me the card with 1st year AF waiver. I have, since then managed to get them to waive my AF since.

I did an online application for the SCB credit card for fun since they are giving away free GST plus cashback for new applicant last Friday.

Today they called and ask me if I am working in a MNC or any public listed company or not. I told him I am not. Then he said that they need an original EPF statement from the EPF kiosk to proof my income. I told him since it is so troublesome, just cancel my application and forget about it laugh.gif
