Wow, That's fast - 8 hours battery life with 2.17 KG seems reasonable price

Okokokok, is it worth it, cos thinking between, A53Sv, N53Sv or this 4830TG, really hard to choose one.

Yeah, the vaio is terrible, because it over heats and makes awful noise like a hair dryer, when you do something more than just web browsing. I exchanged it twice at the sony store. I am desperate of getting rid of it and don't know what to do.

ur sony vaio using hd5650 card? if like that same case v my inspiron 15R N5010, the fan blowing sound like hair dryer when play games. even idle mode the fan suddenly so excited & unstoppable

bad: battery heat is probably share with others (internal component ) n cant be remove even using direct power

the stamina button will make u use the HD3000 intel gpu. which is more or less the same performance as 6470. base on some benchies i found on the net

No no no... it's like the sony vaio s, you can remove the battery by unscrewing it, and replace it by another one. Only the macbooks don't have this feature.

dun like d built in battery..

i used C n my best lappy so far the Vaio SR55 for so long.. both have nice design super built quality n great material. i love em so dearly! i kinda hate what sony doing with my beloved S line!

Yeah, well it's the same problem with other laptops anyway : It's hard to find a second battery. Only now, you need a screwdriver

hmm...i have no idea...but then i did learn dat dere is something called built in battery...^^is gt540 a powerful gpu??sommore 2gb vram?

how come the photo is not like the 4830tg we saw else where? no blue color panel, etc...

2gb vram is not important, while 540m is a good middle class gpu, i would say its pretty good for a non gaming laptop like G series, alienware, etc

i see...so its quite cheap rite the price for these kind of specs??i feel very worthy to buy?

540M, sandy bridge CPU, USB3.0, light and slim@2.17 kg > RM2499...

it should be better at heat dissipation and wont flex as much, but heavier. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

but an all alu casing will transfer heat more efficiently.. to your palm.

because aluminium conducts heat better, naturally it'll feel hotter. But the interiors should be cooler

generally yes... heat from other hardware parts can kill off the battery cells slowly...

look at MacBook Pro/Air, and u'll get an idea...

u can use the whole chasis as a giant heatsink, which saves space inside, at the expense of hot surface...

bad when u r using it on VERY hot day. else.. ok ja

Short answer:

1. no need to unplug battery after fully charge
2. remove your battery before doing heavy gaming and leaving it over night for torrent, etc
3. DONT use battery till 0%
4. A charge cycle is NOT count as number of time you charge ur battery. say, u use 50%, charge back 100%, that is only half cycle.
5. HEAT is #1 enemy of your battery

that's wat Apple has been using since Mactel (i think)...

it basically allows for more charge cycles than Li-ion, but is more costly as well...

makes sense to use it on a laptop with integrated battery...

Actually Acer's profit margin is actually lower compared to Dell or HP. Their notebooks are all came from China, so not much difference on costing lah. Just Acer is more aggressive on pricing...See Dell Inspiron 15R Quad core can be cheaper than Acer 5750G as well

agree on you with this. aggressive tactics for marketing is most of d time is a good thing

tell me which popular OEM dun make their laptops in China?

as long as it works to spec and the price is right, y should i worry?

Sony - 90% China except VAIO Z
Toshiba - 80% China except Portege R830 or R840/R850
Fujitsu - 40% China except expensive model

more like made in China, assembled in Japan (less the solid capacitators on the mobos perhaps)...

if they re really 100% made in Japan, they will cost rm8k, not rm4k...

a lot of factors play into part. imho, one strategy they are doing better than other competitor is their aggressive (and fast) in producing latest technology to client. i remember reading one article, they OVERBROUGHT Intel Core i series until there is shortage.

So, they roll out new technology fast to get quick cash.

Then, they are very careful in production of the system. Unlike other competitors that usually have products ready world-wide. To be able to support that, competitor must build a system in huge number. Acer, on the other hand, very careful in selecting which country has which model. They only produce limited number to support that.

Imagine what will happen to 'old' notebook if a competitor produced too many of them?

Anyway, I am not working in Acer, this is all just theory.

IMHO, a better distributions strategy (fast in, fast out) can save computer maker save more $ than cutting conner on hardware... i mean, a cheaper speaker, cheaper keyboard, etc probably can only save so much... being a hardware manufacturer, the hardwares are probably cheap...
