Feels solid, especially the main body although the hinges for the screen seem a bit weak almost wobbly - i gave the notebook a shake while open when nobody was looking. I can only hope they're stronger than they look given how thin the lid is.
I've only had experience with a chiclet keyboard on a cheap msi notebook and my G73jh - the latter being quite a bit better - however in reviews some had said that the G73's keyboard has some flex and yet i haven't experienced any so i suppose i'm a light typer. In this regard the acer's keys seemed slightly less "jumpy" compared to the G73 (the responsiveness of the G73's keyboard really makes it a pleasure to type on) but that could just be my imagination or some asus bias forcing that perception in my subconscious. The smaller direction keys dont bother me since i game with the WASD buttons anyway although i had wished they weren't offset Didn't really get to run anything on it so i cant talk about heat issues etc. It's really compact though so i expect heat to be it's achilles heal. Just as long as the heat doesn't annoy my hands while typing and doesn't affect the battery negatively it should be ok but if it does either of those i will be rather unsatisfied. The built in battery is neither here nor there to me but removable would have been better |

So i've received "Murphy", as i've dubbed it for very apparent aesthetic reasons, and will hopefully be posting a brief review soon. Just been rather busy with university giving me the run around and assembling my necessary course material.
Please dont expect one of those fancy reviews usually posted on forums the world-over. Thanks |

QUOTE(barca96 @ Apr 5 2011, 10:26 AM) Murphy? Murphy because the colour-scheme of steel, blue-steel and black along with it's sharp-ish edges remind me of Robocop. As yet i've only been able to test NFS Shift 2 on it. With everything set to high except aliasing on normal and shadows on medium and at 720P Resolution the FPS tends to hover around 26-30. Keyboard is exactly as it felt on the demo model. Good enough but not as smooth as the one on my G73. When doing anything that doesnt tax the CPU or GPU the computer is completely silent and the air coming from the side-vent even feels cool. Play games though and you've got your own personal heater although it doesnt blow too loudly at least. Barely audible in actual fact or i might just be deaf. Not one much for benchmarking software - prefer actual in game performance figures - so i'll be testing out more games and report back when i can. What is that? I hope you mean Acer 4830 hehe. I am patiently waiting for a review. Can you imagine, I just bought a 4820. But I kept it in the box cause I wanna check out 4830 first. If it's really good then I want to sell it off to get the new one Apparently i was the first one to get this PC in central KL. The shipment only had 40 in the container. I'm suitably chuffed if true |

QUOTE(mudster @ Apr 7 2011, 10:02 AM) Installed beyond good & evil. The graphics is slightly glitchy. it can run on the intel hd3000 smoothly. Tried to run it on nvidia must be manually added to list of programs (maybe because it's old?). Gonna try different settings later... So far i've only tested Shift 2 and Crysis 2 and i've had to do manual settings for both so i doubt it's the games but rather the driversStill need an online connection after this to install steam... 4830 and Robocop, separated at birth? QUOTE(reevephon @ Apr 9 2011, 12:33 AM) Yes it's a built in type and non-removable, I would go for 14" all the time. I was one of the first to purchase the notebook, at least the first around here to receive one so unless i'm mistaken - and the cooler costs RM2499 - you're not understanding what i'm asking Added on April 9, 2011, 12:35 am The RRP is RM2499, until now we still don't know when is the exact release date for this model, but should have really coming very soon. |

QUOTE(mudster @ Apr 9 2011, 12:54 AM) I know but it's more for the look and piece of mind. A little extra ground-clearance never did any harmQUOTE(Revamperz @ Apr 9 2011, 12:57 AM) eh not even cheapo stuff? i wish i can opt for direct price discount but cannot.. most of em are junk anyways.. The only thing i got free that is usefull is a cheap acer mouse.
