this spec seems quite powerful, correct me if i'm wrong. i am planning to replace my aged xps m1330. seems on paper, this acer can run crysis2. how is the quality built? i have develped a trauma towards acer cause in the last 10 years, 3 of my acer laptops could survive a 5 month span. got fed up with acer actually.

The previous Acer TimelineX 4820TG was splendid in almost every way, including the built quality.... since the new 4830TG has a totally different design... its hard to tell at this stage

yeah, my friend bought the last 4820TG, and i was quite surprised that it can run most new games at medium setting on native resolution. but sadly, this model is no more in KK, sabah. i just asked around, they say it was no more. but they didnt say when the new one is coming out.
i'm just afraid that the thin design is gonna hinder the gaming performance as the heat dissipation is an issue

hahahhaha, i usually refer people to as 'ekor' and animal as 'orang'. i have problems with my penjodoh bilangan, for the purpose of humour. well, seems that i have to hope that the better model is value for money too. i cant seem to decide on which model is the correct candidate to replace my xps m1330.

recently i find (in my personal taste), asus and lenovo have no style or flair in their laptop design. dell on the other hand, cant beat the price of acer and acer provides more performance than dell. haishhh, so hard to decide nowadays.
true, i still love the design of my xps, and it was hard for me to accept that this machine is old. crysis 2 runs like only 20fps.

@cowithgun : wow, did the new rig perform as equal as our dell? mine was core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 4gb ddr2 ram, 8400m gs (replaced twice due to overheating), and i just recently purchased a new 6 cell battery.

Here is what I wrote when I first got the notebook last Oct:

"The core i-5 460M running @ 2.53GHz and turbo boost @ 2.8GHz is fast enough for running a few OS in Vmware concurrently without a sweat. I feel further swiftness as compared to my XPS1330's T9300 which also running @2.5GHz. The ATI 5650 is REALLY powerful. I was running Street Fighter 4 @1366x768 max setting (with no AA), I got more than 9000 score, rank A. Running Starwars TFU running at 1360x768 with High Detail, the fan is not even at high speed. Running Starcraft 2 High setting @1366x768 has no lag at all (in fact, it's really smooth) even with 8 protoss carrier attacking."

After 5 months of using this, it just got better. With updated Catalyst, my SF4 score more than 10k, I am playing game like crazy with this notebook.  rclxm9.gif

My boot time is around 25 seconds... the notebook runs cooler, quieter, screen is even brighter than XPS1330. I dont believe I posted this before:

wow, how much did you buy the acer? i see that your charger cable has become the dreaded perm-like cable. same as mine, but mine is more worse than yours. reading your review, seems that i have gained a bit more confidence on purchasing an acer on my next purchase

i cant really say for other model, but the 3820tg has been highly acclaimed by many to be damn good. anyway, my notebook just 5 months old... so, i cant really tell what will happen tomorrow  sweat.gif but so far, it's great.

k, wanna continue playing Dragon Age 2 in DX11 mode...  brows.gif
