so, since it has a built in battery, does the acer supercare extended warranty covers the battery? i noe for a fact dat, for the 1st year, adapater n battery are always covered by acer. since 4830tg has a built in one, n is no replaceable, kinda worried about dat. battery degrades rather quickly due to limited charging cycles.

just call acer

NO super care only cover the notebook
even it is a build in  type, its still 1 year warranty only.
*
have to call acer to double confirm.but if wat ur saying is true, that that's a major downside for me. my 4930's battery losses its charge retention capability after 1 year of usage, may probably due to improper charging/discharging.

im hoping dat 4930tg's charging circuits is smart enuff so as to not damage the battery while using the laptop.juz need the battery to be usable after 2.5 years and gud enuff to 2nd-hand buyers.

if im going to buy this lappy, i seriously need to use batterycarebatterycare.net

anyhow, if for no apparent reason, the battery blows up,permanently damaging the laptop, by right, Acer shud replace w a new one w equal value rite?

only for the 1st year?wutabout subsequent years?u know after warranty extension via supercare..

QUOTE(maxereno @ Apr 7 2011, 07:29 PM)
guys, the battery is replaceable, isn't it ?
*
sure hopes so.if let's say, the battery heavily degraded after the 1st year, i'd like to replace it w a new one.

QUOTE(mudster @ Apr 7 2011, 07:31 PM)
max> I think 41LY45 said it already. The battery's replaceable, but You'll need to bring it to acer. No 3rd party batteries because it's unremovable.
*
same question, replaceable only for the 1st year or the subsequent years too. (acer supercare warratny)

AMD Llano VS i7 Sandy Bridge

u shud definitely check the link above.watch its youtube videos. a8-3510MX, is overall better than an i7 sandy bridge. however, if stricly computational power perspective, i7 wins. smile.gif

owh yeah, an AMD Llano A8-3510MX is fitted w a HD6620 GPU, from the model number, it shud b better than HD6550 ( HD 5650 ). juz imagine, an AMD cpu + GPU notebook, it most probably much cheaper than an Intel cpu + AMD gpu notebook. owh yeah, AMD llano can do hybrid crossfire, with a discrete gpu. how cool is dat.

i7 sandy bridge(32nm) = 35W, AMD APU LLANO (32nm) = 45W, great TDP!

taking a leap of faith here. hopefully this laptop can last me at least 2.5 years.....

making payment for this beauty now hehehe

wawa where you buy from? i heard digital mall today got stock. i just bought from an IT supplier so can get within the day itself biggrin.gif
*
???? made payment to whom? where? lowyat is it? stocks arrived already?? 2.5 years? definitely possible. but for me, if i did buy it, next year, most prob need to replace to a new lappie becoz in the 2012, intel's cpu is at 22nm and AMD Radeon is at 28nm fab process. :'( but maybe not becoz, in 2013, intel wud still be using 22nm for their cpus (tick-tock) and possibliy AMD radeons too due to the maturity of the process.

ive been an acer fanboi since 2007 i think.smile.gif bought the earlier gemstone aspire 4520, then upgraded aspire 4930 ,n now, patiently waiting for 4830TG.smile.gif i trust acer any time. i also did a lot of recommendation to my university mates. acer simply works. smile.gif GO GO GO ACER!!

I would be happy to get 4 years out of it

haters gonna hate. that's all haters can do. esp those that have never tried acer lappies, n still bashed on acer lappies.

QUOTE(ashleighhhh @ Apr 20 2011, 01:44 PM)
thanks mate. I can bring my laptop there to get it done right? or would it be more advisable to go back to acer stores? do they do ram upgrades?
*
i think, if u send it to SC, i think, they're gonna charge u a premium. might as well just go to shopss like PC3,czone,thundermatch n such.60+ ringgit for a 2GB stick w FOC installation fee.

The only thing preventing me from buying this laptop is the design. I just hate the blue metal finish, the silver area around the keyboard, the black keys... I just wish they kept everything the same color, like the vaio s.

Everything else is perfect : specs, battery life, size and weight, features, price...
*
really?? both the design n specs caught my attention. if the design is lame, i might have bought asus' a43sv, same spec and also much cheaper.

seriously? if that is indeed true, that's definitely a very good news! i already planned to go to lowyat tomorow to pickup one. but planning to do some cash rebate/no free gift plus haggling on the warranty extension. i seem to recall dat the RM198 supercare, was sold to me for under RM100 when i bought a laptop at the end of 2008 n also another laptop which i bought earlier this year....hurm...
