crossroad woddy vs pl50 is a must

Woody 1 or 2? Lol... But not really fair IMHO, dynamics vs a BA (even if it IS a Jays SIREN clone there in the PL50). Woody 1 and 2 vs the Cyclone PR2 is more like it. Similar price tag, both dynamics. Wood vs Metal!
Care to send me review samples, lol...

And what about the Hippo VB and Klipsch S4, you guys not bringing it over? Now THOSE would prove as great contenders for the best " 'round RM200" dynamic bassphones.
Oh, and if anybody's interested, there's a bulk on the Clip+ and Fuze over at bulk - players with (supposedly) the best SQ for the price. Contemplating getting myself a Fuze AND a line-out-dock cable (all for the sake of aural science).
Oh, and the day spent with the PL50 + E5? Let's just say that I'm liking these small, cute plugs very much, even if they lack the bassy-ness of the SP1. A keeper in my books, fo' sho'...

Now, time for a completely off-topic rant (you have been warned):

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, a bad day for me today. Played too much with the PL50 + E5 and ended up sleeping late yesterday = woke up late for work, "kantoi" with the boss, had stomachaches, had the electricity cut out in my living quarters when I got back, laptop battery died...
Thankfully, I have my crazy huge Lenmar PowerPack battery pack for the laptop + the small one for the 5800 (acting as my WIFI-3G router); with which I found myself here ranting (with a cute USB fan stuck on the Lenmar to keep me from overheating).
And I'm passing the 1 hour plus mark as I type this. Great job Lenmar (laptop powerpack) and PortablePowerSolutions.co.uk (5800 powerpack), viva la portable power!
Funny I was just telling the guys at the office the main reason why I keep these crazy powerpacks around is mainly to help me in a power outage....

lol... if u wanna let go ur quads cheaply to me... let me know ya...

Will do. They're fresh replacements from bro Wala (old ones died, remember) barely a month old IINM and hardly used...

If I do decide to let them go (the tranformers-y attraction of tweakable sound is still an interesting concept - lets wait til the PR2s arrive), I'll supply you (or anybody who ends up buying them) with the box and everything that comes with it, plus replacement tips for the ones I've used....

Plus there's a fair bit of warranty left (bros yuheng and wala, no problems transferring warranty?).
Urk, 5800 external battery supply box blinking and dying. Means I have less then 30 mins left on the 5800's internal battery for WIFI-3G. Time to log off and enjoy some music sans electricity!
Added on October 12, 2009, 6:56 pmOh my, me ears getting REALLY used to the PL50s + E5. Imaging is godly in comparison to the rest of my lineup of current and past IEMS (Quads, PL11, Bijou and SP1): I can distinctly make out instruments all over the place (especially on James Morrison's You Give Me Something), and that's on MP3, with the 5800 and it's constrained soundstage (enhanced by the E5, though).

It's stuff like this that make me wanna get the RE0 (and I'm already asking around about the CKS70/FX500/Image S4 - it's only a matter of time before I succumb and get myself a JHPro13)... Crap. Gotta hold on until next paycheck! Edi planning to get the Fuze + LOD for a more acceptable review platform (vs just me lowly 5800), which will effectively turn my lunches and dinners to a whole lot of instant noodles.
(A crazy idea which quickly fizzled as I realized that the HUGE battery that just whizzed me through 3-4 hours of blackout just ate the money for the Fuze in advance - so no Fuze...

)
I need my extra Foamies to mod to the PL50, NOW! That should hold the tide of upgradetitis for a while.
In retrospect, the SP1s now feels a little boomy and slightly congested with the E5 on bass mode (comparison done on James Morrison's track, again), even on Flat EQ. And oh yeah, it has a (much) narrower soundstage.
Hmm... How the ears deceive, eh? The SP1 still holds the bass crown (for now, it rules the trance roost), but in terms of clarity and imaging, the PL50 blows it clear outta the water (and bass, properly EQed and enhanced by the E5, ain't bad really - like 15% of what the SP1 could do)... PLUS it's low profile, discreet, imminently comfortable and fits perfectly over-the-ears (which lends to a whole plethora of other niceties)...

It really is a great plug. I've heard posts on Head-Fi saying how much it's generally good, but not really outstanding at anything.
I prolly think they were comparing it to the TF10Pro/SE530/PFE (conpem lar better, it's like 5-10x the price wat), because as it is, the PL50 wonderful IEM for RM190.
Gonna spend another day with the PL50s... Maybe two...
