Hey guys I'm looking for a pair of in-ear earphones. I listen mostly to rock, indie and some pop, film scores, electronic, but I'm not a basshead, so I'm looking for something neutral with a good balance of everything. Budget is RM200 - 300.

I've been recommended the following:
1. Crossroad Mylar Bijou
2. Hippo Boom
3. Soundmagic PL20 / PL50 / PL30

Are these suitable for me? And how does the Shure SE102 compare?

Ok I just bought myself an iPod classic. All I have at the moment are my stock ipod earphones, and I find them unsatisfactory (as expected). I'm looking to get a pair of PL50s, how do they compare with the stock ipods? I especially find the bass to be weak, and turning on bass booster simply results in distortion. Not sure if this is inherent in all iPods or the issue lies with the earphones. I know the PL50s dpnt have a lot of bass, but do they at least perform a lot better bass-wise than the stock earphones?

Yeah, bass is low - I run mine with the Fiio E5 super-mini-tiny-amp to compensate for this (it has bass mode), but it really doesn't change much.

As for the how to wear properly, blue tip one goes into left ear, red into right. Make sure the coloured tips are pointing UPWARDS and coil the wire around the back of your ear. Use the plastic earguides if you have problems with the last step (I'm using em)...

As for tips, its all about isolation. Yeah, IEMs are MEANT to stick into your ears and block out as much noise as it can - you might need to get used to this... Foam should be the easiest tip to get a seal with. Most audiophiles seem to like silicone (rubber) as they say it doesn't effect sound much (Foam adds bass and dulls treble it seems, I can't seem to feel a difference either way).

Even myself, I can't get good isolation with any of the tips ON THEIR OWN - so I combined the 2nd largest silicone (rubber) and one of my own Shure Foam tips. Great fit ever since.

Just to add,i chat with one fellow forumer who happen to be an owner of phonak audeo pfe,he said its a great iem,just in bass department,its too shy and when amped with E5, the bass overloaded.so u just have to live with little bass or overpowered bass .owh,he also an owner of SP1, and he likes it,including in bass department.just to share

how to check the originality? i own an ON3..

uh, which brands specifically do u mean when u say PL50 or SP1? what do u think about the shure se102 btw? is it among the best for its price range? are there other more affordable models with similar performance? i wouldn't mind paying a bit extra if it is as good as they claim it is, but it'd be good to keep within budget loh.
