QUOTE(mustang @ Jul 8 2009, 01:09 PM) Looks like I will need to do some planning when using this card so that I can maximise the benefits as I just get it like few days ago Don't bother ... if you read through the earlier posts, you will find cards with far simpler system for cash back. I'll forgo HLB if I were you coz very calculative in the rebate. |

Oh finally, now I feel PEACE!
tinker and vamp, I salute you! QUOTE(mustang @ Jul 8 2009, 01:09 PM) Looks like I will need to do some planning when using this card so that I can maximise the benefits as I just get it like few days ago No matter how well you plan it, the final rebate you get is still less than 1%. You should study the T&Cs carefully before you applied for it. But it's still not too late since you've just received it few days ago. |

QUOTE(winner @ Jul 8 2009, 11:25 AM) Before this I was quite interested in this cc, as it gives 1% cash back without a max cash rebate limit per month. However, after enquiring with HLB CS just now, it is not as straightforward as what I thought. I have changed my mind now. Bad card 1. Cash rebate is fixed at 1% and given to all retail transactions (excluding petrol), subject to a minimum purchase of RM100. 2. Cash rebate amount per transaction is rounded up. For example, if you spend RM100, the rebate is RM1. However, if you spend more than RM100 but below RM200, the rebate is still RM1. Let’s say your spending is RM199, you will still get a rebate of RM1, and not RM1.99. 3. AF – 1st year FOC. From 2nd year onwards, you ought to spend at least twice a month or RM8k per year, in order to get it waived. 4. No reward points are given All these stringent T&Cs, especially item 2, drive me away! QUOTE(b00n @ Jul 8 2009, 11:31 AM) In M'sia, AMEX under Maybank arms had turned into Credit Card (correct me if I'm wrong, limited knowledge on AMEX also). But if one holds the true AMEX, it's supposed to be a charge card; same as DINERS. Not really. In United States, there are many AMEX credit card issued by AMEX itself as well as AMEX credit card issued by Bank of America.QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Jul 8 2009, 11:58 AM) The correct terminology/classification (Issuer) is broken up as:- Actually there is only VISA Electron but no Mastercard Electron. There is however a debit Mastercard version.1. Visa/Mastercard 2. Visa/Mastercard Electron 3. American Express/Diners cars 4. JCB/Maestro (Japan/Europe) This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Jul 8 2009, 04:00 PM |

Hi all,
I've a fraud case back in early 2008 with MBF card coz I lost my card without realising it, so I guess someone took the card and swipe extensively at all Petrol Kiosk in Puchong back then (in a day he/she might swipe up to RM700 splits into multiple transaction), till I receive a call from the bank stated I've outstanding bills only I got to find out the issue. Immediately I filed for a police-report and appeal to the bank stated these are not my transaction, appeal went on and on and they still said its my responsibility to settle the amount as I didn't take care of my own card :-(, fine then, during my 3rd appeal, I received a court-case letter from the said bank, to avoid any troubles, I just made the full settlements. I thought everything went fine, till recently I went to applied SCB Platinum, I'm meeting and actually exceeding their eligibility by quite a margin, and yet it failed stated I've a record at CTOS, last 2 days I made myself available and went to get my printout for both CTOS and CCRIS, I've perfect record for CCRIS, but this mentioned case is in CTOS, but has been closed and remark with "Debt fully settled". Since my SCB application failed, I requesting a credit-limit increase on my current HLB Gold Visa, I'm just asking the limit to be increased from RM9500 to RM15000, yet it still failed and I requested for a reason, but CS told me they can't do anything, all the application is subject to the management approval or things like that...I can't believe it as I'm holding this card for close to 4.5 years, and nv ever has a late payment and all the time I'm settle the full amount. Anything I could do? I've got myself both recent print-outs from CCRIS and CTOS...recently I've a transaction online and believe it or not, I need to transfer money to my HLB account to clear up the limit issue so that the new transaction can go thru successfully. I'm looking for a replacement card for the HLB now and will nv ever turn back... |

A recently court decision has ruled, in cases like yours, the limit is RM250. This is the law of Malaysia and override any contract the card company may impose on you.

I am surprised that you were not given increase CL as you claimed you have been paying in full. How about you asking for upgrade to HLB Plat since you qualify for SCB Plat. Another option, write an email to HLB and let them know your dissapointment. SCB is quite stringent, apply with other banks. Next time you go 1U and Midvalley, stop by the many credit card booths and apply for all, sure you get 1 card. If you have FD with a particular bank, try apply CC with that bank and state the account number their your easy reference. |
