Got such CS system on voice de meh? Last time I used CS HUMAN... didn't know there is voice-machine... ah bo won't be "paiseh" to let them CS told me "You were declined.. SORRY"
*
Yes, call up the SCB CS number, the usual press 1 for EngLand, 2 for UMNO, 3 for MCA... choose several times until reach check CC application status, it ask to press IC number, then the pre-recorded voice says something like, "I am sorry, you application is not successful bla bla bla..."

BTW, I'm SCB M1 account holder for much longer than that. Very good banking and payment record.

Anyway, I have this bad luck with foreign banks CC.

1) I have home loan with SCB, they deny me CC. doh.gif

2) My salary is credited into HSBC, they deny me CC. doh.gif But earlier this year, they call up and offer me CC with 5 years waiver rclxub.gif

You're not serious that the phone recorded message actually said, in verbatim "Too bad, we don't want U"

Well, I don't know the actual meaning. But whatever message or things I receive, I always think from at least 2 angles. tongue.gif

*
tongue.gif Yep. It's like the bank asking nicely to take back the umbrella from you, the moment it starts raining. If you don't give, then they'll take by force, lawyer letters, etc.

Credited into your HSBC account ? I believe this bank is charging RM10 if you want to credit your salary into HSBC, am i correct ? Thank God they are not the only bank in town  biggrin.gif
*
Hmm... no idea. I got my net salary in HSBC. I believe my company will pay for the charges. I'm alright with HSBC, but the PV a/c charge me RM5/mth. I need the cheque book since HSBC doesn't have a lot of branches/ATM around. Ok, back to CC.

Not necessary though. I have encounter several times before, my MBB Amex cannot go through. Use MBB Visa, can go through.

Anyway, it is still best practice to carry 2 CC from 2 different providers.

Your agent can 'adjust' for you.  I've applied CC by faxing straight to the bank and then the credit card staff asked me if I wanted a higher grade card.  I said I don't qualify (I'm off by about 20K laugh.gif), she said she can adjust.  And it was successful.
*
laugh.gif This reminds me last time, I'm not qualified for Plat. I ask how ? She says, "Hentam only lah the annual salary put 120k, can one. Apply plat, got better free gifts (during application). Use the gold CC with >15k credit limit and >2 yrs, can already." blink.gif I say ok lah. 2 weeks later, I receive the plat card. sweat.gif Of course, I think she gets better commission from plat compared to gold ?

Which bank ? The too much orange one laugh.gif

Haha.. Thats great. Anyways, this is my 1st time of applying CC, so much more info regarding on it. But I wander 1 thing, how do u bypass ur pay slip part? As they can easily get ur actual figure by having 1 piece of ur pay slip. Right?

P/s: Hm.. I should its the one with lion head. xD
*
No salary slip. At that time, apply fill up form, photocopy IC and existing CC which is >15k CL and >2 yrs. That's all.

Yes... CC salesperson does get more commission for Platinum cards approved hence they always try to bodek U to apply for it even if U don't need it.
*
Yeah la, kena bodek by CS doh.gif I thought try to apply my first unqualified plat for fun + gift. See see, got it sweat.gif But now already cancelled it.

QUOTE(winner @ Jun 26 2009, 04:28 PM)
Congrats, you were lucky! It depends on the respective bank's policies. Some banks have a strict requirement on income eligibility, such as HSBC, Citi and MBB.
*
It was at KLCC PC Fair 1-2 years ago. Like pasar malam sweat.gif Try for fun only. Now no more try this, waste my time to track and cancel/call up when AF waiver is up. Nearly applied RHB to get the F1 car or chess set sweat.gif

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jun 26 2009, 05:14 PM)
If I remember correctly, commission for platinum cards are double that of classic/gold.  Classic/gold commission is RM50 I think... not sure if this is standard.  Also, commission is only paid if the card owner is a new member (not having any cards with the bank).  This is what I gathered when chatting with the agents... not sure of the accuracy...
*
Yes, at that time, I'm a new member to the orange bank sweat.gif

Ah.. Guess my chances of getting the card with my current condition is quite low. But no harm to try i bet.. CIMB DA do required RM24k/yr as well. sweat.gif
*
Start step by step. If you have degree and >2k basic salary (slip), should be alright to get DA first. Once you have a CC as a base for >6 months, your application for other cards will be easier and faster. Then you'll start moving up classic -> gold -> plat -> world -> universe -> Cybertron smile.gif

However, must maintain good track records, i.e. prompt payment, no delay, no bad debts, etc. on all types of CC/loans.

Sorry, Transformers effect. sweat.gif

Just watched yesterday tongue.gif

Then try with 18k requirement CC first. I started with RM1.5k/mth basic (18k p.a.) also smile.gif

Most of us here do full payment when statement arrive. Collecting points are bonus to redeem things you want wink.gif Make sure don't fall into CC trap, i.e. owe the bank money.

Good luck, have a nice weekend.

To me, I think is more on you applied for plat, but they give you 2x gold. If plat not approved, the bank should call to counter-offer with the gold. Not direct issue to you. I think this should apply to all banks, not just the one you mentioned.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 30 2009, 04:35 PM)
Mine too !!! Just last week i complained that the chip no longer can be detected (tried it at several different places) but surprising the CIMB CDM can still read the card when i went to make the payment 3 days ago. Thought the card's good to go now but guess what ? Once the card's out there's a crack on the right near the magnetic strip  vmad.gif
*
Is it possible for the CDM to have dual-read mechanism ? If read-chip failed, it takes the mag-stripe reading ? hmm.gif

Anyway, you can cut the mag-stripe at near edge corner away (e.g. 5mm each way) and the card might still be readable normally. The data is mainly kept in more centre portion about 60-70mm of the 86mm full length.

The crack is 2cm long. I guess it's time to put it to rest for good  biggrin.gif
*
2cm horizontal (parallel) to the mag-stripe ? Or vertical ? Or diagonal ?

If horizontal, the mag-stripe may still work, as it needs only 2 tracks (each ~2.8mm in height) to work for CC. Total has 3 tracks, hence mag-stripe is ~9mm in height. Nevermind, getting technical already rclxub.gif

If you got too much free time tongue.gif bring some cello-tape + scissors + 1 dummy plastic card to CDM

1) Cover 2-3 layers cello-tape onto the chip. The chip is contact-smart-card, i.e. need to contact to read the data in chip. Try in CDM if can detect or not. If detect, means it uses magnetic as secondary.

2) To disable the mag-stripe is a bit more difficult. Even if covered, magnetic reader can read through it. The most fool proof way is to cut the entire mag-stripe away, sweat.gif then get another dummy card, cut the bottom portion (without mag-stripe) and paste onto the actual card with cello-tape rclxub.gif . voila! you got a bank card without mag-stripe. Try again in CDM (without covering the chip). If can read, means the chip is not faulty. Else, vice-versa.

Nevermind, forget all the above. doh.gif

----------
*Edited*
Actually step 2 above should be step 3.

The middle-step is to use a high strength magnet (e.g. Neodymium magnet) to erase or make the card faulty. Perhaps the mag-stripe is a REQUIRED criteria to read the card ? hmm.gif

What's so special at the threat fair? Any good freebies? The new Amex gold cc might be promoted at the event.
*
Well, I would say depends on personal preference. I have been to MBB TF and the stuff to redeem there suits me more. Also, most of the items (if not all) are to redeem with TP.

Compare to CIMB Home Decor at KLCC, most of the items are for sale doh.gif and pay through CC. Well, if I want to buy using cash/CC, I can goto shops, no need goto this kind of fair.

The MBB fair is for all/most suppliers to group together to offer customers to redeem their points on the spot.

Any other bank CC has points fair ?

Again, I'm not related to MBB or working for them. I just wish to share and I'll be going there to survey and redeem some stuff if available.
