Reporting in. Today submit the new Amex Credit Card application form. Not sure MBB will receive it properly or not. Or how long they need to process it.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 24 2009, 06:46 PM) Credited into your HSBC account ? I believe this bank is charging RM10 if you want to credit your salary into HSBC, am i correct ? Thank God they are not the only bank in town Hmm... no idea. I got my net salary in HSBC. I believe my company will pay for the charges. I'm alright with HSBC, but the PV a/c charge me RM5/mth. I need the cheque book since HSBC doesn't have a lot of branches/ATM around. Ok, back to CC. |

Not necessary though. I have encounter several times before, my MBB Amex cannot go through. Use MBB Visa, can go through.
Anyway, it is still best practice to carry 2 CC from 2 different providers. |

QUOTE(fylon @ Jun 26 2009, 04:07 PM) @cute_boboi No salary slip. At that time, apply fill up form, photocopy IC and existing CC which is >15k CL and >2 yrs. That's all. Haha.. Thats great. Anyways, this is my 1st time of applying CC, so much more info regarding on it. But I wander 1 thing, how do u bypass ur pay slip part? As they can easily get ur actual figure by having 1 piece of ur pay slip. Right? P/s: Hm.. I should its the one with lion head. xD orange, not yellow QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 26 2009, 04:08 PM) @cute_boboi, Yeah la, kena bodek by CS Yes... CC salesperson does get more commission for Platinum cards approved hence they always try to bodek U to apply for it even if U don't need it. QUOTE(winner @ Jun 26 2009, 04:28 PM) Congrats, you were lucky! It depends on the respective bank's policies. Some banks have a strict requirement on income eligibility, such as HSBC, Citi and MBB. It was at KLCC PC Fair 1-2 years ago. Like pasar malam QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jun 26 2009, 05:14 PM) If I remember correctly, commission for platinum cards are double that of classic/gold. Classic/gold commission is RM50 I think... not sure if this is standard. Also, commission is only paid if the card owner is a new member (not having any cards with the bank). This is what I gathered when chatting with the agents... not sure of the accuracy... Yes, at that time, I'm a new member to the orange bank Added on June 26, 2009, 5:26 pmFor those still This post has been edited by cute_boboi: Jun 26 2009, 05:26 PM |

QUOTE(fylon @ Jun 26 2009, 05:55 PM) @cute_boboi Start step by step. If you have degree and >2k basic salary (slip), should be alright to get DA first. Once you have a CC as a base for >6 months, your application for other cards will be easier and faster. Then you'll start moving up classic -> gold -> plat -> world -> universe -> Cybertron Ah.. Guess my chances of getting the card with my current condition is quite low. But no harm to try i bet.. CIMB DA do required RM24k/yr as well. However, must maintain good track records, i.e. prompt payment, no delay, no bad debts, etc. on all types of CC/loans. Sorry, Transformers effect. |

Just watched yesterday
Then try with 18k requirement CC first. I started with RM1.5k/mth basic (18k p.a.) also Most of us here do full payment when statement arrive. Collecting points are bonus to redeem things you want Good luck, have a nice weekend. |

QUOTE(feizaiII @ Jun 29 2009, 04:38 PM) To me, I think is more on you applied for plat, but they give you 2x gold. If plat not approved, the bank should call to counter-offer with the gold. Not direct issue to you. I think this should apply to all banks, not just the one you mentioned. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 30 2009, 04:35 PM) Mine too !!! Just last week i complained that the chip no longer can be detected (tried it at several different places) but surprising the CIMB CDM can still read the card when i went to make the payment 3 days ago. Thought the card's good to go now but guess what ? Once the card's out there's a crack on the right near the magnetic strip Is it possible for the CDM to have dual-read mechanism ? If read-chip failed, it takes the mag-stripe reading ? Anyway, you can cut the mag-stripe at near edge corner away (e.g. 5mm each way) and the card might still be readable normally. The data is mainly kept in more centre portion about 60-70mm of the 86mm full length. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 30 2009, 05:30 PM) 2cm horizontal (parallel) to the mag-stripe ? Or vertical ? Or diagonal ?If horizontal, the mag-stripe may still work, as it needs only 2 tracks (each ~2.8mm in height) to work for CC. Total has 3 tracks, hence mag-stripe is ~9mm in height. Nevermind, getting technical already If you got too much free time tongue.gif bring some cello-tape + scissors + 1 dummy plastic card to CDM 1) Cover 2-3 layers cello-tape onto the chip. The chip is contact-smart-card, i.e. need to contact to read the data in chip. Try in CDM if can detect or not. If detect, means it uses magnetic as secondary. 2) To disable the mag-stripe is a bit more difficult. Even if covered, magnetic reader can read through it. The most fool proof way is to cut the entire mag-stripe away, Nevermind, forget all the above. ---------- *Edited* Actually step 2 above should be step 3. The middle-step is to use a high strength magnet (e.g. Neodymium magnet) to erase or make the card faulty. Perhaps the mag-stripe is a REQUIRED criteria to read the card ? QUOTE(winner @ Jul 1 2009, 09:34 AM) What's so special at the threat fair? Any good freebies? The new Amex gold cc might be promoted at the event. Well, I would say depends on personal preference. I have been to MBB TF and the stuff to redeem there suits me more. Also, most of the items (if not all) are to redeem with TP.Compare to CIMB Home Decor at KLCC, most of the items are for sale The MBB fair is for all/most suppliers to group together to offer customers to redeem their points on the spot. Any other bank CC has points fair ? Again, I'm not related to MBB or working for them. I just wish to share and I'll be going there to survey and redeem some stuff if available. |
