QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 19 2009, 10:43 PM)
AMEX Gold CC points are Membership Rewards (MR) points. As for your question on RM50 shopping vouchers, here are some examples:

7,500 points for RM50 Coca Restaurant
8,500 points for RM50 DOME voucher
9,000 points for RM50 Robinson, Metrojaya, TGIF voucher
9,500 points for RM50 Guardian, Watson, Parkson voucher
10,000 points for RM50 Petronas, Tesco voucher
*
The new MBB Amex cc looks interesting due to the 5x reward points and “free for life” feature. The requirement for redemption of RM50 hypermarket voucher is good, which is only 10,000 points compared with others @ >12,000 points. The reward points earned from MBB Amex cc are evergreen, right? While Amex is commonly accepted in petrol stations, Petronas so far still doesn’t recognise Amex. If Petronas accepts Amex, it will kill MBB Petronas cc!

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 20 2009, 12:09 AM)
Anyway, DA not that great lah, the points redemption is so so and got to pay for courier charges.
*
That’s absolutely right. Since so many other CCs are also free for life and offer cash rebate, DA seems lag behind recently. DA needs to seriously think about ways to improve their CS, increase the % of cash rebate and waive the courier fee in order to retain existing customers.

Talking about courier charges, I came across somewhere that SCB Just1 also imposes courier fee for delivery of redeemed gifts. I couldn't locate the source now. Perhaps existing SCB cc customers can enlighten me.

Actually DA is like the leader in giving benefits to card holders like free for life AF and the 1st to give  2% rebate on petrol at all stations. I am sure that DA will restudy their "offers" with time once they realize that other banks are taking their business away.
*
Except the not-so-great World MasterCard, I hardly see advertisements from CIMB/DA on new promotions lately. My colleague told me that he recently received a call from CIMB offering him a World MasterCard.

Just checked again, they actually charging me RM 200 only, but they did update the online statement stating that I've spent RM 50 for the petrol. So they've updated the statement, but haven't unhold the balance of RM 150.
*
I had never checked DA unbilled statement online so I'm not sure about its system. But I've been using HLB online for years and the bank only updates my cc transactions on the posting date, rather than transaction date. I think you need not worry about the temporary additional sum. The system will adjust the figure when posting date comes. However, it would always be safer if you keep the transaction bill and counter check after receiving your monthly statement.

hahaha, good one cancel the card and apply again. But redeem all the points first before you cancel the card.

MilesAndMore: i guess you can call up CS and inform them that you want to use the card but it is defective, so how to use? Ask for waiver as the card was not misplaced nor stolen and if they still insist on you paying the RM10, then you got to decide you still want to give them business for charging you something that is no fault of yours.
*
The bank has the final say. As CIMB/DA cc is free for life, it has some stringent policies to follow. However, I always feel that you would have a stronger negotiation power if you are a good paymaster and maintain good rapport with the respective bank. I had lost my HLB cc before, and the bank sent me a new cc (new acc no) with all points transferred to the new cc, without charging a replacement fee.

From above link you will note that Alliance You:nique cash back applies to all retail purchases including petrol. Also note that it will cost you RM38 to put your personalize picture on the card (which I feel it is just waste of money).

I got mine FOC. It's ridiculous to pay for it.

*
I believe you can request the bank to waive the design fee on application, as the bank needs business. If the bank insists to charge the fee, you may consider not to have personalised design. Nobody is willing to pay RM38 for it!

thank you. smile.gif so if salary = 1.5k havent deduct anything * 12 = 18k can apply lo? show my latest 3 month payslip enough edi or not? and other requirement??
*
Hey...you think too much. Why don't you just try and apply to 2 different banks rather than puzzling yourself uncomfortably? Most of your questions have been discussed in the previous CC Threads. If you're still not satisfied with all the answers, you can always give the banks a call or visit the banks.

Oh sorry, I am a little bit impatient now. smile.gif

alex & Ghz,

Have you tried using SCB Just1 at Shell? Can you check your unbilled statement online whether there is rebate for your transaction at Shell? Also, check whether SCB reimburses you with the RM50 early bird incentive. Pls update me.

@genkis3,
I believe principal and supp cardholders both have the same cap limit; and it shouldn't be separate for supp holders, meaning, RM600 for both combined principal and supp cardholders.

Can someone confirm the above?!
*
According to SCB CS. the max rebate is not combined for principal and supp cards. It means both principal and supp cards are given a max rebate of RM600 each.

I just went to SC office in Taipan..It is possible just to get credit card only. They will not open debit account or current account..So there is no more problem lor

Can this be done? We were always told that Just1 acc is a combination of credit and debit (current acc) features. Pls update us on your clarification and confirmation from SCB.

@winners,
Sometimes it's not entirely the banks fault.  It could be that the person she lodged the application with held on to it for eons.
*
Sometimes I feel some cc agents are not reliable. They may put your application on hold if they have achieved the target in that particular month. The will result in a delay. That's why I prefer to apply directly from banks.

Yes it's ridiculous.  I remember my sister and her boyfriend (now husband) put in an application for an Amex card at Carrefour and since then, we haven't heard from Amex.

We suspect the application wasn't lodged but as to whether or not he did anything, I don't know; my guess is that he just left it.
*
Won't be surprised if they receive the cards 6 months later. Or else, the cc agent might have quit his job! biggrin.gif

Interested in signing up for a SCB JustOne as well. What's the best way to sign up? Saw the website, and apparently if we call their given number, first 1000 approved will get RM50. Did you get any free gift signing up through the agent?
*
Just walk-in to any SCB branch. Of couse you can call the CS hotline and SCB will send someone to collect documents from you. But it depends on how efficient the staff handle your application. If you apply directly from the bank, there's no physical freebies except 5000 choice points. Besides, the RM50 early-bird incentive promotion could be already over as the card has been launched for nearly 2 months.

Nah.. we don't think the card will ever come.  They aren't too bothered anyway.  It was because the salesperson was pleading with them they decided to help him by applying.
*
But at least they got freebies from the agent right? biggrin.gif

Besides, I feel insecure submitting application to those cc agents in hypermarkets and petrol stations. Just imagine, they obtain your personal particulars, your other cc details and your signature. If they don't submit your application, you know the consequence.....

HLB - Plat MC:
Pros - 24 hours CS and so far experience with CS very good as they are very efficient and polite. Platinum Tel contact hardly put on hold. Waive my AF every year.
Cons - No cash rebate. No discount at places that I spend my money.
*
I agree that HLB has one of the best CS, based on my experience thus far. The 1st impression is already good, especially from the auto voice which they use the former radio DJ, Yasmin Yusof's voice. It's very clear, energetic and fast.

However, I've just cancelled my HLB cc after holding the cc for 10 years, as it has less promotion compared to other cards. Most importantly, I try to reduce the number of cards that I seldom use. Currently I have 4 cards and will cancel another cc soon.

To be exact, the cash rebate is 0.5% for Alliance Younique and 0.6% for Alliance Plat, for the 1st RM500 spending monthly.

So far I've not seen any retail merchants which offer special discounts for SCB and Alliance, unlike the other banks.
*
They do have special promotion for some merchants. In fact they seldom advertise in the newspaper and only send out brochures to their existing customers together with monthly statements.

oh, 1st yr af is auto waive
*
We referred to 2nd year AF actually. I also feel that it won't be easy to request for AF waiver for 2nd year. It may become a 1-year card for me then if I spend less than 15k as I prefer using Alliance cc on non-Fridays while travelling abroad.

As least you can save on the 1% admin fee. Other banks such as Citibank gives you 2 points for every Ringgit charged (Standard Chartered gives 3 Choice Points/RM1 for Platinum and 5 Choice Points/RM1 charged in foreign currency). It is more or less the same.
*
Still can't compete with Alliance Plat. This cc gives cash back of up to 1.375%, x2 timeless reward points and 0% admin fee on overseas transactions. If you spend on Friday, it's better to use SCB Just1, as the 1% admin fee is tiny compared to the 5% cash rebate given to you.

Having 2 cards is also good for retail discounts.  Example: You have CIMB and HSBC cards.  When eating at Dragon-i, use CIMB for 10% discount.  When eating at Amarin Thai, use HSBC for 15% discount.
*
That's true. If you only hold both visa and master from the same bank, in the event that failure of transaction is caused by the bank, both cards also can't be used. I would suggest to have visa and master from 2 different banks. To control your spending, you can always request the banks to give you a lower CL.

Not necessary though. I have encounter several times before, my MBB Amex cannot go through. Use MBB Visa, can go through.
*
Is your Amex a charge card? If it is, your both cards are different entities. Another possibility is that the failure of your MBB Amex was caused by Amex and not because of MBB. So that your other MBB cc wasn't affected.

laugh.gif  This reminds me last time, I'm not qualified for Plat. I ask how ? She says, "Hentam only lah the annual salary put 120k, can one. Apply plat, got better free gifts (during application). Use the gold CC with >15k credit limit and >2 yrs, can already."   blink.gif  I say ok lah. 2 weeks later, I receive the plat card.  sweat.gif  Of course, I think she gets better commission from plat compared to gold ?

Which bank ? The too much orange one  laugh.gif
*
Congrats, you were lucky! It depends on the respective bank's policies. Some banks have a strict requirement on income eligibility, such as HSBC, Citi and MBB.

One more thing the CS told me that the cash back limit RM600 is total including all the supplementary. Now it is contradict, before when I get the card the CS told me that the cash back limit is not shared.
*
Yes, SCB definitely needs to clarify this. I was surprised to hear that the principal cardholder can apply for 6 supp cards and all of them can enjoy a cash rebate of up to RM600 each. This card has been giving us so much doubt since the 1st day SCB launched it.

Please update us after you inquire another CS staff. SCB, we don't want flip-flop and we need a final answer! sad.gif
