Reading through the internal email I'm receiving from my contact, here are a few important tidbits. I cannot divulge the entire email, as it contain sensitive material on how Maxis handles the iPhone internally, so I'll need to self-censor and post what CAN be posted.
1. For any submission of the faulty device, customer can walk in to Maxis Service Centres for repair.
This may finally mean viable access to a certified Apple technician to do repair work and maintainance on the iPhone!2. The warranty period of the iPhone is 12 months from the date the device is "unbricked".
This statement is posted VERBATIM, from the said email, so it looks like Maxis knows of the hanky-panky jailbreaking process going around. Although their term "unbricked" is a little off the mark.
3. If customer downloads unauthorised software inside the device and this causes the device to be faulty, the warranty is automatically VOID.
Self explanatory.4. CSR is required to key in the details of the faulty device via online to 3PL(3rd Party Logistic). The RMA form will be available online in MIMS/Dealernet. 3PL (3rd party logistic) will then collect the faulty device and submit to Apple in Singapore for repair.
Repairs are seconded to a third party entity, done via online, and repairs sent to Singapore. This may mean that non-Maxis iPhones are not eligible to take advantage of the repair facilities available.
5. If the faulty device is in warranty (less than 12 months) and the repair is covered, customer will get a seed unit as a replacement. The repaired unit then will be returned as a seed stock. If the faulty device is out of warranty (more than 12 month) or the repair is not covered under warranty, then customer need to wait for his repaired device. There would not be any loan unit given to customer.
Same treatment given just like AT&T customers in the States.6. The plan rates are as per posted before in that table. However, the PENALTY for breaking contract is not posted. Here they are:-
i. For 12 months contract, they are "what's left of the months" + another 12 months.
ii. For 24 months contract, they are "what's left of the months" + another 24 months.
iii. For 6 months contract, they are RM100 for 6 months, a.k.a RM600.
What's all this mean, you ask? For this, I need to post the "monthly commitment fee" for each and every i-Value plans available.
i-Value 1 = RM100, i-Value 2 = RM155, i-Value 3 = 250, i-Value 4 = RM375
For example, for those subscribing for a 12 months contract on i-Value 1 for an iPhone 3G 16GB, here are the breakdown:-
iPhone price after discount = RM2290. For 12 months, you'll be shelling out 12 x RM100, which entitles you 333 minutes worth of talk time, and 500 MB worth of data. Total cost of ownership = RM2290 + (12 x RM100) = RM3490.
Now, if you decide to break contract ONE month after signing in, the PENALTY is "what's left of the months" + another 12 months. So it would be 11 months (since you're breaking contract ONE month after signing for a 12 months contract) PLUS another 12 months, making it 23 months. Each month, the commitment fee is RM100 for i-Value 1 plan, so that is 23 months x RM100 per month, making the penalty need to be paid for breaking contract = RM2300. That is ON TOP of the RM2290 already paid for the discounted iPhone on this plan.
The maths, and cost of penalty, gets frighteningly heftier as you progress to i-Value 4. I counted, up to RM10,000+!

They need to sign an Addendum and an Early Termination Penalty will be impose if they terminate the line or change the rate plan within the 12 months or 24 months period.
