Sigh........the phone IS discounted, it is just that the discount is being OFFSET by the huge amount of cash you have to shell out because of the contract plan.

And a shitty plan to boot too! They should have not restricted the data allocation to any figure, or at least, offer an alternate plan for those who wanted the opposite, less talk time and more data allocation. The iPhone is , after all, dependant on being connected to carry out its more advanced functions.

The phones ARE cheaper. It is the contract plans and the monthly commitment fees that are the killer. If you have been keeping up with Apple's tieup with all other telcos, it has been the same throughout.

A lot of people dont realize this. All they see is "iPhone 3G for USD199" and immediately call it cheap. But to get the iPhone for USD199 , you need to sign up with AT&T and pay USD129.99 a month. Convert that to RM and see if you can call that cheap!

Between #2 and #3, but leaning towards #3. Maxis rewards their staff rather well. Double whammy if you have family members working up in Maxis in both the management and the technical side/service side. Management + Maxis Broadband/3G side working family member = FTW!
You'll be surprised what defines as "cheap" in the States. Have you not seen how AT&T is perceived as the minute they unveiled their iPhone rate plans? The Americans are howling!

Most if not the majority of those whining here are those who either not even planning to get an iPhone, or just come in for the fun mocking those who do plan to get one. Cant afford to get one? Move along. Dont block the traffic for those planning to get one.

I myself am on the fence, but you dont see posting crappy posts about governments, Malaysia Boleh, and whose political lackey's pockets we are lining. Stick to the topic, and stop the complaints. If you dont have anything constructive to say, dont say anything. All this whining and complaining makes this place sounds like a child nursery. This is not anything new, plan rates like these have been introduced and unveiled many times over by other telcos in other countries. If you're thinking that Malaysia's telco will be any different, YOU ARE DELUDING YOURSELF.

Yes, but you are not helping those on the fence or waiting for informed opinions on whether to get an iPhone for themselves or not. In fact, I call you being selfish, because you already have an iPhone and can afford complaining and whining about these Maxis plans, while others are still on the fence deciding to take the plunge or not.

Instead of whining and complaining, why not you do something more constructive like helping figure out which plan is the most affordable and common-sensical to subscribe? Help these folks make their decision. Dont clutter their thoughts with more or your whinings. You already have yours, they are waiting to get theirs. And here you are, not helping them one bit in their cause.

It is easy for you to complain, since you already have one, and passed that initial phase of prepping your budget to get one. There are others who had waited two years to get their own iPhones officially locally, and your complaints are not helping them one bit.

that's almost the same as Singtel sets sold by sellers in GS, with the advantage of local warranty. will soon see flooding of Maxis iPhone in the GS soon i guess.
