In Canada, the telco improved their plans (albeit slightly) when the people werent happy with it and the sales weren't as they hoped.

Maybe we'll see a similar situation in Malaysia?

Actually on reflection, the 6 month contract thing is really not that bad if you're an existing Maxis Value Plus subscriber.

Pick any of the normal Maxis Value Plus plans or if you're already on their plan, stay with them.

RM2540 for 8GB and you get 500mb data every month for 6 months.

Since grey market prices are about there, maybe 1-200 ringgit cheaper, it's really good value for money cz warranty's in Malaysia + you get 500mb every month.

QUOTE(ed0gawa @ Mar 11 2009, 03:47 PM)
yep.. that how i thought when i saw the plan.
But after i cool my head down from the iphone in malaysia hype.
I find it pretty dumb though, why the hell am i forking out so much for a phone. It was supposed to be cheaper.
If you noticed, the price isn't far from the pricing of those SG set seller. Maxis studied the pricing, jack it up a lil because they have advantage over the warranty?

Yeah, basically the SG/Australia/NZ grey market iPhone prices gives Maxis an idea of what consumers are willing to pay.

So they based their rate plans around these prices. They figured with local warranty, customers might be willing to pay a bit more, hence, their current prices.

And if I absolutely have to buy an iPhone now and am an existing Maxis customer, I might just take the 6 month contract. Why not? Pay extra RM1-200 and get local warranty + 500mb per month.

Girlfriend got a forwarded text advertising a vacancy for a "mobile phone launch at 20-22 March at KLCC"

100 girls needed..

Hmm, I wonder what phone launch that is happening on such a large scale that would require so many promoter girls?

Haha of all people, stringfellow, that was a tongue in cheek comment. I thought people would get it without me having to resort to adding a " =p " at the end of my post..
