QUOTE(xtreMEgig @ Mar 11 2009, 08:33 PM) i dont like contract. it's like mati tanpa kubur. i will go for 6 month contract then change it to more cheaper plan. For 6 months contract:8 GB RM 2540 16 GB RM 2960 If that's the case, might as well you don't sign up for contract and get a Singapore set? |

I wanted to call and ask about that because my gf and I are on Family Plus plan too. If that's the case then it's not worth it. What's the point paying RM100, having a 12-month contract while the phone itself isn't very cheap.
The only plus point is the 500MB free data transfer included in the package. You mean if I'm using the iValue plan, my sms to my family plus line is still 2000 sms free? |

QUOTE(raptar_eric @ Mar 11 2009, 08:50 PM) I believe warranty is the main issue, main reason why there are people willing to pay that large sum of $.. If u were to buy SG sets, ull needa pay like RM150 for transportation fees to send it back there if u were to claim warranty.... Even if you factor in RM150 for transportation and warranty claim, it's still cheaper getting the SG set. Remember the commitment fee of RM100 per month for 12-months and the phone itself is sold for RM1,900 (8GB version). The only plus point I can see is the free data transfer of 500MB but is it for 12 months or only first 6 months? |

How often does your phone gets faulty? If you claim once in a year then it's considered terrible so if it's a few times in a year, might as well just sell it off or keep it somewhere. I'm just speaking based on my experiences with phones for the past 12 years using all sorts of Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, etc.
Added on March 11, 2009, 9:03 pm QUOTE(kazasho @ Mar 11 2009, 08:58 PM) For 12 month contract ... but sms is 10 cents each and I lose free calls privilege to my Family Plus lines RM100 monthly commitment after minus minutes for calls, you should pay around RM50 for 'sewa' RM50 x 12 = RM600 RM600 + RM1900 = RM2500 You pay RM2500 for iPhone. RM50 = 333 mins domestic voice call + 500mb data, excluded sms, video call, roaming, IDD. This post has been edited by clawhammer: Mar 11 2009, 09:03 PM |

Thanks bro amirsubhi. I've called Maxis a while back and the guy also told me it's allowed. I guess if that's the case then it shouldn't be a problem to go for the RM100 commitment plan. I believe the way it works is use up all 333 mins (free) then we will be charged accordingly for the Extra Ten numbers.

QUOTE(edwinlcw @ Mar 30 2009, 09:10 AM) for iValue plan 1.... RM50 is for local call only and the other RM50 is for data usage (3g).. sms cost is not included in the RM50 for local call... Correct me is i'm wrong... You pay RM100 every month and you get 333 mins (to any network) and 500MB data usage FREE. I don't think it's segregated by RM50 each, etc. |

There is an installment plan but it's not worth it because they charge you 5% of the amount you're paying upfront. Moreover, you can only use CIMB, Maybank and Public Bank for installment.

QUOTE(kyon22 @ Mar 31 2009, 04:39 PM) I just want to ask, will I violate the contract if I use my mom maxis number and later slot in my celcom sim card in to the iphone?.. You only violate the contract if you stop/terminate using the line. If you want to use your SIM card on another phone, that's also fine (as long as you continue to pay for 12 months/24 months as per contract). You can slot in Celcom/Digi or other operator SIM into your Maxis Iphone to make calls, sms BUT certain data transfer will not work as they are locked. Don't ask me why but that is what being told by Maxis |

QUOTE(abubin @ Mar 31 2009, 06:32 PM) This is under iphone's terms and conditions. This is a very vague "terms and conditions":That means they can terminate your account if they found out you are not using the iphone with the registered line. 1. How would they know if you're not using your Iphone? 2. Even if you do swap phones, you can always say your Iphone is left at home because you have more than one phone, trying out a new phone which you've just bought, you need to call up someone via video call urgently (personal matters), etc. Millions of excuses which can be given. |

QUOTE(=Hanxz= @ Mar 31 2009, 07:00 PM) I know but how can they detect if the phone I'm using is of that IMEI unless we allow some information to be sent back to Maxis. I'm not sure if there is a mechanism of such with the Iphone. I thought these are private information and we should be asked for consent whether we want to send or not? |

If you're going overseas, there's a cheaper solution to call back by using *126# or some sort. Maybe you can try reading up in Maxis website. Obviously roaming is expensive (they are never cheap).

Yes, I guess they blocked it or something? Anyway, it wouldn't be a concern for myself since I only have Maxis. To the rest that intend to use Iphone with other carriers then it might be a problem. Btw, can we resolve it by following the Iphone unlocking steps, etc?

I don't think it's the advance payment because we've already paid while getting the phone. Maybe it comes from your sms/call charges? Better call Maxis and ask before it goes higher/more.

It became RM2 because the previous usage has reached your bill cycle cutover and they will bill you accordingly.
