Your prayers have been answered. Malaysia now has an official online store. Now you can order online and get them delivered to your home. And they also do iPod engraving. i read from several forums that if we call up apple, and explain it to them, they'll give some kind of cash voucher to be used with the online apple store.. |

Truetrue... But i use PostLaju when sending my iPods and other items to outstation buyers and I'm happy to say that my buyers received their goods in good (pun intended) shape!
But for a big company like Apple, my guess is that they will surely use one of the Big Four or some other reputable courier provider... |

this is definitely an awesome news. great step in expanding malaysia's apple user community. i think the difference in return policies between Malaysia & other countries is due to the fact that all the hardwares on sale is not in Malaysia/ or is not managed by Apple Malaysia. i might totally be wrong here, but supposedly Singapore is the main head, right?
nevertheless, good news all around. i'll have to wait until next year to buy something as i want to take advantage of the educational discounts & i'm enrolling next year for my masters |

SHITT.. this is both great and shitty news for me.. just placed and paid for deposit at apple retailer (with no edu discount of course).. and now there is this edu discount on online apple store..!! OMG I cant believe this is happening..
anyone know how much will they charge (the retailer) from the deposit if I cancel my order now..? |

I'd be buying the new Macbook Air with 1.83Ghz processor and 128GB SSD, since this is treated as CTO as the resellers here. Need to let go off the OLD Macbook Air and the Tosh Qosmio before that happens.
Unless, any of the Premium Resellers stock these 1.83GHz MBAs as shelf items, looks like the new Apple Online Store came just in the nick of time.  |

Do take note everyone that the times quoted are shipping estimates, not delivery estimates. Just saying this to prevent future rants about products not being delivered on time. For products that have a shipping estimate of 1-2 business days, expecting delivery within 3-5 days would be more reasonable. Might be even later.

With that being said, it is still unclear whether Apple has warehouse facilities in each country, or whether the items will be shipped out from their facility in Singapore. With CTOs/engraved iPods, it would be interesting to see whether the items get shipped from China direct to Msia, or China>Singapore>Malaysia. I was thinking of ordering something just for the sake of getting the T-shirt, but I don't need another iPod/Mac for now. Not just you, Dawn. I feel the same too. It fills me with pride that we are treated the same (almost) like those countries with a proper online Apple Store. The final sealing of the deal is to see a real life Apple Store in KL. That would make KL as prestigious as Apple Store 5th Avenue, Apple Store Beijing and Apple Store Sydney. I would seriously shed tears if that happens.

I think a lot of pro users from out station will start to buy online.
new users will still prefer to buy at the store so they get training and supports. after sales is the key to the business, if you look at the giant stores from all over the world, they have to improves their customer service to make sure users do not buy from online stores. |

...I've checked out with the Malaysia Apple Store staff, telling me that actually if the buyer buy product(s) with edu-discount, they need a proof of ID via e-mail before the invoice get verified and posted to valid the transaction... wonder that the procedure existed?? Good daying! |

Looks like Machines has revised their prices to match the Apple Online Store
When the online store first launched, the iMacs in Machines were RM100 more expensive.Quick check in today's Star ad and epiCentre has also revised their prices. BTW, they're having a 1st Anniversary promo in Pavillion from 13-16 Nov. |

If I were a Apple Reseller, I'd look very long and hard at the implications of an Apple Online Store in Malaysia. Apart from the obvious advantage of split interest-free (or otherwise) payments, resellers have to offer much more to ensure that they do not lose too many customers to the online store. I'd especially target the switcher and emphasize the importance of customer-service to my staff.

yeah.. mine was in australia, they used TNT.. i changed mind of getting the 2.53ghz MBP instead of my CTO 2.4ghz MBP at about 1-2pm on thursday, 2 weeks ago... and on friday, the next day the MBP arrived at 11am+ at my doorstep.. damn good..

the other day when TNT arrived, i looked into the van.. the delivery guy was telling me that ALL the parcels in the van were from apple - macbooks, macbook pros, ipods, macs, etc etc... everything!

If buy from retailer, they quoted me like RM1600 for 2 pcs of 2Gb DDR3 ram and only offer a rebate of RM100 for the 2 pcs of brand new 1Gb DDR3 ram. I will support Apple Online store as I can customize the purchase of Macbook with different memory settings.. |

Maybe you ask the quotation when Apple hasn't launch the online store yet. Since DDR3 is not really standard yet, they tried to get more money from you. Now that Online Store is here, everyone know how much it actually cost and they bring the price to match the online store. Hehe

the awek apple told me to leave the column blank. but need 7 working days to arrive. if not because of the engrave i rather use offline store. can test kaw kaw before buying.

just called apple customer service just now. took nearly 2 weeks for the ipod to arrive malaysia. darn fu**ing long time. kerja main main ka.
5 working days for apple singapore to get the money from rhb bank malaysia. 2 working days for engraving 5 working days to ship from china feel really disappointed. but what can i do. i need the engraving. really a bad first time impression for me to buy from apple store. even my order from play asia only took 4 days to arrive in kl even if i use free shipping. that's mean my wedding anniversary gift to my wife will only be arrive after we celebrate the anniversary. |

Yay~! I finally got my macbook as well.
First time hands on mac after 10 years of PC life. Very exciting~!! Previously got someone did offer me a black macbook but I refuse to have it coz I don't wish to support them to steal more. I don't wish one day I have to buy back a macbook from a theft. |

Wow very fast service. Just bought one ipod touch 8gb as its the cheapest of the range and they even engraved it and I add in the box for additional Rm19 for great packaging from Apple. Wow.. apple really did it again. Will focus more on online buying now than retail store as get nothing much from retail store also. ^^

i feel tat order with apple online store is much more better coz the machine is freshly made!!! latest batch should fix most of the prob... mine 1 is hv no cosmetic defect so far... and everything working good... mine made on week 47.

Tsukasa, when did u order your ipod?
my update: seems to be that apple singapore need only 3 days to clear the cash deposit from malaysia. the ipod shipped on 22/11 from shanghai. but there was no update since 22/11. the status is still "Departed from DHL facility in Shanghai - China, People's Republic". anybody here faced problem before? based on the notification email, the delivery will take maximum 2 working days. today is the second working day. what can i do now is just hoping the ipod arrive within this week. can't wait for my wife's phone call thanking me for the ipod for our anniversary hahaha. it's priceless man. (anyway dont flame me....i know some of u here give their spouse a car or a house for their anniversary. but at least i bought an ipod. not the rm30 chicken branded mp3 player. hehehe). |

I think the online store is only good for iPod because of the gift wrapping and engraving services. For everything else, I'd run down to a reseller store and get it instantly.
It's shipped from Singapore because that's the regional hub. Malaysia not established yet, but it's picking up speed quickly! |

I'm presuming Apple will soon pull the plug on education pricing on the Malaysian Online Apple Store. The way they've got it set up now and given the mentality of the Malaysian public, it's going to be abused.

i hope they won't cancel the education discount. i'm holding off purchasing a new mac until i enroll for my post-grad next year, so it would be a shame to lose that benefit. the best thing would be for apple to come up with a solution that would verify whether someone is a student or not.

i will buy macbook alu today using my brother HSBC CC which i will taking the student edu price since im a student after all,
very nervous since its my first time buying expensive item using cc, btw bro @hapa its not so hard to buy using cc right, just follow the description there and put all cc details and etc and then after that we approve and just wait for the stuff to arrive to my home/place right..? advice please... thanks in advance. |
