kesian those who bought their macbook/macbook pros from retail outlets.. could have gotten the educational discount with that.. lol..

i read from several forums that if we call up apple, and explain it to them, they'll give some kind of cash voucher to be used with the online apple store..

I couldn't find their return policy. What if your MacBook comes with a loose battery cover, how do you get an exchange?
*
i fixed mine by pushing the tabs out abit.. that fixes the battery cover.. no harm done since the tab is aluminium too.. u wont be pushing it alot.. probably just give it a lil tad and it will close properly.. the tabs are the one that is facing out of the macbooks, the 3 or 4 tabs, not sure how many.. and it works well after that...

Actually, they are almost the same. Buy from apple, you will get about 5% student discount, buy from machines, you will also get 5% rebates.
*
i think the educational discount is based on the products u're trying to get, and not 5% store wide.. for my case i got 10% off from edu discount from Apple australia, plis stringfellow travels alot... he can probably be eligible for GST refunds.. not sure whether aircrews are eligible or not, but worth the try.. i highly double they are eligible coz they travel lots..

I think a lot of pro users from out station will start to buy online.
new users will still prefer to buy at the store so they get training and supports.

after sales is the key to the business, if you look at the giant stores from all over the world, they have to improves their customer service to make sure users do not buy from online stores.
*
i think with the applecare, customers can do it on the phone or at stores.. its the same here in australia.. we can either go to any of the apple retailer, or call apple up..

Even Australia education online store has their validation procedure. You'll need to select ur uni/college/K-12 schools and key in your ID or something lol.
*
i didnt have to key in any student ID or anything.. just selected my uni and thats it.. but i know for singapore, students have to verify themselves with some kind of student educational discount form, sending it to apple or something.. theres some prodecure in singapore.. not sure about apple malaysia..

anyways, sooner or later someone will go thru the procedure, im sure they'll let us know here.. biggrin.gif

Not true. I bought mine under Edu discount last year and they never asked for any verification (I am a student in SG so even if they ask for student matric card I can still show them).

I don't think they will ask for your student ID upon delivery coz the product will be delivered by external courier. You don't expect DHL or FedEx to check your ID, do you? laugh.gif

Just buy under Edu discount regardless you're a student or not haha. nod.gif
*
ooh ok so SG is the same also... hahaha.. coz i remember i saw a form somewhere for students to fill up...

Apple Online Store is good for ppl that need to get 4Gb ram for macbook. 2 x 2Gb DDR3 ram..

If buy from retailer, they quoted me like RM1600 for 2 pcs of 2Gb DDR3 ram and only offer a rebate of RM100 for the 2 pcs of brand new 1Gb DDR3 ram.

I will support Apple Online store as I can customize the purchase of Macbook with different memory settings..
*
ooo rm1600 for 2 sticks of 2GB DDR3 rams? +- RM800 per stick?? omg man.. thats crazy! even the shops in australia isnt selling it that expensive.. its about AUD185-200 for 2GB DDR3 ram sticks for the new macbook/mbp here... wat a rip off man..

Hmm.. Since Macbooks are now aluminium, why don't Apple offer engraving for it? Could even deter theft!
*
as far as i know thieves wont really have the time to see whether the laptop has engravings or not before they steal it.. they see an apple laptop they steal it.. simple.
