If you don't want the Zing card, I think you can untick it. Or I guess when Maybank call you for verification, you can specifically ask them that you're not interested with it. I didn't tick that portion in the application and I'm not interested to have it since RM 2 per each auto reload is expensive.

Oh yes .. I agree with you on this one. I disagree the RM 2 charge per reload plus this will be done automatically when the balance falls below RM 50. (With a RM100 top-up) In Singapore, the auto top-up facility only charges SGD$0.25 per reload.

I like the old days where the auto top-up facility from touch n go were free.

Citibank to maintain card spending growth

PETALING JAYA: Citibank Bhd expects to at least maintain last year's growth of 16% to 20% in credit card spending, given the current economic scenario, vice-president of cards acquisition and product management Muzir Kassim said.

"In the last few years the industry had been growing at 16% to 20% and we believe this will continue.

"The bank believes it can maintain, if not better this growth, as more consumers feel confident using credit cards as a payment tool in their daily lives.

"Also, credit cards are a much safer method of payment as it is convenient and provides security, giving consumers peace of mind compared with carrying around cash."

Muzir added that the bank understood consumers had different needs and hence the focus was to reward customers with products and services that suited their diverse lifestyles and needs.

He said as a market leader in the credit card segment with about 20% market share in sales and over a million credit cardholders, Citibank hoped to maintain its leadership position going forward.

One of the key pillars of maintaining this position is through product differentiation and innovation.

"Product differentiation involves customer value propositions as well as experience and service. We bring best-in-class services to our customers and create programmes that are innovative and relevant," he said in an interview.

According to Muzir, one of the innovative measures taken by the bank to cement its leadership and growth in the card business was through usage campaigns and promotions.

The recent Queensbay Mall Mania in Penang which began on Jan 15 and ends on May 18 is one example.

Prizes offered in the promotion include a Volkswagen Cross Polo worth RM125,000, five Phillips 37" LCD TVs, 20 Philips home theatre systems, 30 Philips micro hi-fi systems and 100 Philips mini vacuum cleaners.

Citibank credit cardholders are also guaranteed an instant gift when they make a minimum RM200 credit card purchase in a single receipt at any outlet in Queensbay Mall weekly throughout the campaign period.

Muzir said Penang would be one of the key markets for the bank in the credit card segment, adding that it hoped the campaign would help grow its existing card member base.

Asked on the indiscriminate issuing of credit cards by some banks, he said: "We follow Bank Negara's guidelines and overlay that with our internal credit scoring guidelines."

Because it's a GOLD card.

Do you want what I submitted? Let me put it here:

1. A copy of NRIC.
2. 2 months of payslip
3. A copy of degree certificate
4. A copy of existing MBB Visa CC
5. Business card.
6. Latest printout from M2U for my MBB Saving account.

I didn't attach a copy of EA form since it's very outdated.

9000 points means need to spend RM1800 (5X Treatpoints) on Petronas petrol before 31 July 2008.

Before 31 July 2008
If using Maybank Petronas and spend RM1,800, we get RM50 cash voucher
If using CIMB Petronas and spend RM1,800, we get RM36 cash rebate [RM1800 x 2% = RM36]

After 31 July 2008,
If using Maybank Petronas and spend RM9,000, we get RM50 cash voucher (based on RM1 = 1 TreatPoints)
If using CIMB Petronas and spend RM9,000, we get RM180 cash rebate [RM9000 x 2% = RM180]

Does this mean Maybank offer better rebates in terms of petrol spending if before 31 July 2008 ?

CPP targets 1,000 new subscribers daily

KUALA LUMPUR: Card Protection Plan Ltd (CPP) is confident its credit card protection policy will attract 1,000 new subscribers daily by end-2008 from 400 currently.

Managing director (Asia Pacific) Howard Davidson said the uptake of the credit card protection services locally had been very encouraging since its launch in 2006.

"We also plan to introduce more products and services in the mid to longer term," he told StarBiz.

Other products and services provided by CCP include insuring customers' mobile phones, protection of customers' keys, insurance on personal effects and protection against identity theft as well as legal advice.

"Our products and services are taken up on a subscriber basis by individuals or groups," said Davidson.

CCP's products are now marketed through financial institutions in 11 countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey.

In Asia, besides Malaysia, CCP's products and services are now available in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Davidson said the company planned to roll out some of its products and services in Taiwan and India by mid-year and China before year-end.

Locally, CCP's credit card protection policy is currently being marketed through Alliance Bank, CIMB Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Leong Bank and Citibank.

CCP, which currently has over 10 million customers worldwide, is part of the Britain-based Certified Computing Personnel group that is involved in training and recruitment in the information technology industry.

Have a very bad experience with CIMB DA. At first I was thrilled when I get my CIMB DA ATM PIN but ended up with total disappointment. I thought of associating it with my existing CIMBClicks account.

Let's me start from the beginning. At first I got this saving account (SA) and it comes with an ATM card that will charge me RM 8 annually. Then I opened a CIMBClicks with this ATM card. Recently, I cancelled this 1st ATM card and opened a basic saving account (BSA) since it won't suck RM 8 every year. However, I couldn't remember the PIN I assigned for the 2nd ATM card and it has been blocked after 3 times. I couldn't associate this 2nd ATM card with the existing CIMBClicks and if I really need to the association, I have to pay RM 12 to get a new PIN or a new card. Here comes the real part, I applied CIMB DA so that I thought I could associate it to the existing CIMBClicks account. After got the PIN yesterday and generated a e-PIN, I realized that I couldn't gain any access. Gave a call to CIMBClicks CS and guess what they said.

They said it's different account category - ATM is deposit account and DA is credit card. Therefore, I couldn't associate CIMB DA CC to my exisiting CIMBClicks account. Fine and then I asked if I could cancel/terminate the existing CIMBClicks account for security purpose and it's meaningless to me as I couldn't view the details of SA, BSA and CIMB DA details unless I pay RM 12 for it. They said my CIMBClicks account is considered suspended but it's not terminated and somehow, it could still be activated. They said if I really want to terminate this existing CIMBClicks account, I need to provide them with my 1st ATM card number which god knows what is since I have returned to the home branch.

What's a great system. Totally inefficent as compared to M2U. I'll proceed with cancelling the SA, BSA and CIMBClicks account from now. They also said that if I wanted to view my CIMB DA details online (including statement and etc), I have to register a brand new CIMBClicks account. I was WTH. I have to maintain two accounts which sound ridiculous to me.

After this enjoyable call in the morning, I called CIMB DA CS to ask if I could cancel the CIMB DA ATM facility for security purpose since I got the PIN and generated a e-PIN. This PIN also allows to perform a cash advance. They asked me to suspend the facility by enterring the PIN wrongly for 3 times. I asked after I did this and in the future if I need the cash advance facility, could I able to request for a new PIN. They said cannot and I have to cancel this DA card and get a new replacement card.

What a pleasant morning to go through with CIMB and CIMB DA CS.

If I'm not mistaken, if you were to use the Petronas MBB card, you would not able to collect points for the Mesra/RealRewards points.

I thought it should work the same way like Bonuslink whereby you put your Mesra/RealRewards card 1st before inserting your MBB or any CC.

no, I was just about to tell you guys. I was reading the application form just now for fun...it states there that you won't get Mesra points if you use the Petronas Maybank Visa. Not sure about CIMB's...but I think they're the same.
