Geng,

Need advise. TIME has not responded to me on my issue.

Recently got upgraded from 300Mbps to 1Gbps, bloody excited. Old router doesn't support it (850L), go out and buy Asus AC68U.

Came back set up, speed still the same.

Using USB 3.0 network adapater, cat6 from laptop to router, cat6 from router to modem.
Laptop - HP Pavi
Core i7-6700HQ
16gb ram
240GB m.2

Speed test is 350Mbps up/down.

Wifi on 5Ghz - 290Mbps the most (p20 pro). Any advise?

Thanks
plague

I did a speed test on the dir 882 at 5am in the morning...
speed test conducted using Ookla speedtest app on my Pixel2 XL connected to 5Ghz WIFI and standing right beside the router

Attached Image

will do a more thorough test when I have time

also dun ask me why am I still up at 5am lol

anyway the speed doesn't mean much as real world scenario it's quite hard to get this speed

Last Sunday i noticed that my selfcare showing 300 Mbps and when i do speedtest it went to 300mbps. Then later on same evening when i check back my selfcare portal, the plan changed back to 100mbps. I'm wondering what happen and i asked Time and they never responded back to me. Not sure if anyone notice about it.

Anyone using D-Link 850L and able to achieve 500mbps?

If yes, what are the setting required?
*
I'm still using the existing DIR-850L router.

Over WiFi, 500mbps is not possible. I'm getting in between 200-230mbps on 5ghz.

No setting required for myself at least.

Likely cable issue, i've tested on 2 different PCs using Cat 6 and Cat 7 cables respectively. Cat 7 gives me more steady connection.

For the wi-fi, this one depends on whether the wi-fi card can go up to gigabit connection or not.

Surely CAT6 is capable to reach 1Gbs?

i find CAT7 gives me more steady connection. CAT6 do reach 1Gbps but it's not steady for me.

I'm using WS880 with Xwrt-Vortex firmware based on ASUSWRT-MERLIN. Setting as below. Same as yours btw but no issue.

Currently only can achieve max 300 mbps (average of 250 mbps) over lan cable and way-way below for wireless. My laptop support 1Gbps.  So I wonder , if there any configuration required or its hardware related?
*
I think its mostly hardware related. Lan cable what type?

For wireless, your receiving devices also matters. using 2.4ghz is one of the factor. try 5ghz. Nearer your distance to router. Off other wifi devices to reduce interference like your other phones in the house. Then try disable 2.4Ghz and enable only 5Ghz to see if got improvement.

Trying reading about 2.4ghz and 5ghz and also MIMO technology. See real world speeds results.

For your LAN issue, it seems similar to the video below, where 350Mbps is the limitation of USB2.0 of the laptop:

https://youtu.be/pL3e06Z1aws?t=210

Router (gigabit) -> Cat5e -> Ether adapter USB3.0 -> Laptop USB3.0 --- able to get ~500Mbps up down

I have a pair of tp-link av1200 plugs. Router in the living room and PC in the study room (1 wall in between, 8m away). TP-Link utility claims a 900mbps connection between the plugs.

PC connected directly to router in the living room gets 500/500. PC in the study room gets 130-190mbps up and down.

Moving to mesh Wi-Fi soon in November.

Oh so even though when I'm on the 1gbps plan, max speed I could get is ~500? Switched my USB 3.0 ether adapter with a USB-C one and the speeds are still more or less the same.
