Uhh.. My router TP-Link AC1200 reach 140-160mbps only via Cat6 cable (and ~100mbps via 5GHz Wifi), even though I got 500mbps if directly connecting to the modem (PPPoE). Already PM Time Internet via FB yesterday (since they're the one who suggesting to test direct to modem) but until now no reply yet, and no one pickup the call.  cry.gif

Any suggestion?

Update: I've tried flashing new firmware build 20180502, still no improvement.  hmm.gif

Hey there, I'm using the same router AC1200 and faced the same problem last time. Wifi 5GHz stuck at ~100Mbps and LAN 5e stuck around ~150Mbps on 500Mbps package.

For me it is because of the NAT Boost is disabled.

Advance > System Tools > System Parameters > NAT > NAT Boost (make sure checkbox is checked)

Once enabled, Wifi 5GHz can go up to ~390Mbps and LAN cat 5e ~500Mbps. Let me know if it works for you, thanks

Whilst doing some research online on a router replacement, I found one downside of the DIR-882.

It does not have an AP Mode, nor are you able to configure it as one. May be important for people who want it as a secondary router once its life as a main router has ended.

Can anyone who already have a DIR-882 confirm or refute this from the UI?

That said, the issue may be addressed in a future firmware upgrade.
*
I can't speak for DIR-882 but I'm currently using DIR-850L as Access Point even thought the current firmware doesn't have dedicated AP Mode to choose from. Just plug LAN from main router to LAN of your AP > disable the DHCP > set a static IP for the AP so that it doesn't clash with the main router. That's it.

Hi sir, thanks in advance, sorry my router is TP-Link AC1200 which is stock router from Time , and how to get my PPPoE ? Can just copy paste from my router before reset? smile.gif

And I’m going to buy J5 USB3.0 to Gigabit ethernet for my macbook, has anyone here tried it? Max speed? Thanks in advance
*
I'm using the same router AC1200, you should be able to get the PPPOE username and password as per screenshot below. Router login URL and credential should be under your router.

OK I got it already so what should I do next? You mean reconfigure just simply reset to factory default? And just re-setting the router? THanks in advance again biggrin.gif

Refer to this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDLn9rJX76E

If you want all of your wireless devices to automatically reconnected after this setup, use the same name and password for both 2.4 and 5GHz ssid.

Hi,

Recently my package has already upgrade to 500Mbps but the max speed i get is around 130Mbps only on Wifi 5Ghz and LAN.

Router : Tplink Archer C2600.

Could any one please advise what I can do?

Even changed to cat6 on WAN but still not able to achieve even 150Mbps.
*
Should be the same issue that I faced last time with my AC1200. See my previous reply below.

Hi, does anyone know if the Asus ROG G501VW supports gigabit internet? I've used two different USB 3.0 gigabit ethernet adapters and could only reach 500 up/down. A TIME technician said that the bottleneck is the adapter but I'm not sure if this is the case. Would a USB-C gigabit ethernet adapter improve my speed? Thanks
*
If you have extra pc or laptop, its better for you to do a network thoughput test first by using tools like iperf. Then you can identify the bottleneck/issue, its either:

1. Your ethernet adapter
2. USB port of your laptop
3. Your router/ap/switch that you plug the ethernet cable on
4. Defective LAN cable

Is it from the System Properties > Advance or Internet Properties > Advance ?
Seems, i can not locate it ?

Ahh, you need to login to your router to change the setting that I've mention above not in your windows.

URL and username/password to login to your router usually printed at the bottom at your router.

I tested with a Macbook, this is what I got. Using a 68U and it's plugged in the gigabit port, cable is a 10m CAT 7. The technician tested my cable on his laptop and he got 900+ down 500 up.

Your result shows that your local network is fine and can achieve 900+Mbps.

The bottleneck should be on your router or incoming bandwidth from modem.

Try to do direct pppoe from your modem to your laptop to bypass the router as FusionXY suggestion above.

Geng,

Need advise. TIME has not responded to me on my issue.

Recently got upgraded from 300Mbps to 1Gbps, bloody excited. Old router doesn't support it (850L), go out and buy Asus AC68U.

Came back set up, speed still the same.

Using USB 3.0 network adapater, cat6 from laptop to router, cat6 from router to modem.
Laptop - HP Pavi
Core i7-6700HQ
16gb ram
240GB m.2

Speed test is 350Mbps up/down.

Wifi on 5Ghz - 290Mbps the most (p20 pro). Any advise?

Thanks
plague

For your LAN issue, it seems similar to the video below, where 350Mbps is the limitation of USB2.0 of the laptop:

https://youtu.be/pL3e06Z1aws?t=210

Router (gigabit) -> Cat5e -> Ether adapter USB3.0 -> Laptop USB3.0 --- able to get ~500Mbps up down
Router (gigabit) -> Cat5e -> Ether adapter USB3.0 -> Laptop USB2.0 --- only able to get ~350Mbps up down

Oh so even though when I'm on the 1gbps plan, max speed I could get is ~500? Switched my USB 3.0 ether adapter with a USB-C one and the speeds are still more or less the same.
*
Sry, I was just pointing at the video example as he is showing 500Mbps package speed, but with USB2.0 he is bottlenecking the connection to 350Mbps. But on your case, you should be able to get ~1000/500 Mbps with your current package.

Now it seems that your issue is not related to the this example above.

Hey, are you running on windows 10? If yes, can you check whether your ethernet adapter is running on 2.0 or 3.0 speed

Setting > Device > Bluetooth & Other Device > *find your ethernet adapter*

EDIT: Ahh I didn't realize your latest reply that you can achieve 600Mbps+, yours should be 3.0 then smile.gif

Just notice your previous reply that now you can achieve more than 600Mbps, even though not yet gigabit speed as per your 1Gbps package biggrin.gif

I'm using AC1200 and I think it depend on your device as well to achieve that wifi speed.

- Laptop with build in wireless card Intel AC8260(2x2) - Max reach 400Mbps
- Lenovo p2 phone (1x1) - Max reach 300Mbps
- Sony Z3 compact (1x1) - Max reach 200Mbps

*
From your stated configuration you should already running 1Gbps connection (but will be limited to your 500Mbps speed package)

- Router DIR850L (gigabit capable)
- Lan Cat 6 (gigabit capable)
- Motherboard (gigabit capable)

Could you check your network adapter speed whether it is showing 1.0Gbps or 100Mbps?

Can refer here, https://goo.gl/Vfq65o

I've set it to Auto but nothing has changed. The Link Speed (Receive/Transmit) in my network properties is showing 100/100 (Mbps). Does that mean I can't go any higher? Any idea what would be the cause or how I can bypass that? My apologies for all the questions.
*
Or could you try to change it to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex? See whether it helps?

Another thing you can try is to use other cat 5e or above LAN cable. This happen to me before where fake cat 5e (which is cat 5) limit my network speed to 100Mbps instead of 1.0Gbps

I've tried the 1.0Gbps option earlier as well. No luck.

I got this new Cat6 cable recently from IdealTech. Are they not a trustworthy seller? I'll have to source for a new cable again then as I only have an old Cat5 cable I was using before. Are there any recommended places/sellers I can seek out for the cable? Am just worried I might get conned haha...
*
Usually in the router box, they will provide you with a free cat 5e cable or above. You can use that to perform the test.

Hi bro, according to the Motherboard type u given, I think it’s not supporting Gigabit since 500Mbps also need Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and minimum Cat5e cable

But you can try first updating you router from here
https://www.time.com.my/updatemytplink/

Do update us if you got any questions, I will try to help biggrin.gif
*
Actually his motherboard do support gigabit speed on LAN, as per this link, https://goo.gl/oTrjTW (I've checked for all revision as well)

I would suggest for you to check the ethernet adapter speed (sometimes called as link speed) on your windows machine first. Refer here, https://goo.gl/Vfq65o. Check whether it is showing as 1.0Gbps or 100Mbps?

From the previous discussion, the most common issues that is bottlenecking the speed is as below:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

If all of the common issues above is not related to you, then you might need to connect directly to your modem from your PC via LAN (this will bypass the router). Just setup a PPPOE connection on your windows with your PPPOE username and password. Here, you can perform speedtest to check the 'raw' speed that is coming from the ISP.

I hope this will help.

Got a couple of things,
1. How do I get to the "speed and duplex"?
2. NAT Boost is enabled
3. Router is the recent upgrade offered by TIME
4. I'm not sure where the WAN speed setting is. Sorry >.<
5. Duplex is Auto-Negotiation
6. QOS is disabled

It seems that when I perform speedtests, the download is consistently 90+, but the upload spikes suddenly to 500 then drops back to 100
*
First of all what is your ethernet adapter speed on your pc? https://goo.gl/Vfq65o

1. The speed and duplex setting can be find here.
Windows setting > Network & Internet > Change adapter option > Right click your LAN adapter (not wifi adapter yah) > Properties > Configure > Advance tab > Look for speed & duplex > It should be Auto Negotiation but try to change it manually to 1Gbps and retest. Also try to disable the option for power saver, energy efficient temporarily and see if there is any changes.

5. Try to change manually to 1000Mbps full duplex temporarily and restart the router. See whether it helps

The ethernet adapter shows 100Mbps only. Not sure how to fix that. Have updated drivers to the latest.

Can you try with other cable? Must be cat 5e or above, you can even use the cable bundle together on the router box to perform the testing
