Hello fellow veterans, I just got upgraded to 500mbps package without any contract running at the moment as I have finished my 24months like a month ago. My hardware spec & details below:

Router: Still using the existing DIR-850L from Time.
WiFi speed: Tested using MBP on 5ghz- 230mbps+- download; 210mbps+- upload. (next to the router)
Wired speed: Tested using my desktop Win8 with Cat5e cable- 510+mbps download; 430+- upload. (directly connected into the router in the living room)

However my desktop is situated in another area where there are no ethernet socket port. I want to know if using a Powerline Adapter (Let's say TP-Link TL-WPA7510 KIT or D-Link DHP-P601AV) is advisable? I know I can always connect it via WiFi but I prefer to utilise the much higher speed via wired connection.

Thank you and appreciate any feedback and comments from all you veterans here.

Powerline is unreliable. You can try, but you will get significantly lowered speed.

Ok, thank you for the advice. Looks like I'll have to upgrade my router for the higher WiFi speed. sweat.gif

Is everyone who is in 500Mbps package getting the promised speed via cable?
anyone still facing some "limitations" due to TIME settings?
*

Have you restart your modem & router?

I had to reboot like 3-4 times from the point of upgrading to get the advertised speed. (switch it off for few mins, cables off and back on) Somehow it worked for me.

For some reason, my ethernet port was also set at 100mbps which I cannot recall, had to adjust it back to to Auto at device manager.

Anyone using D-Link 850L and able to achieve 500mbps?

If yes, what are the setting required?
*
I'm still using the existing DIR-850L router.

Over WiFi, 500mbps is not possible. I'm getting in between 200-230mbps on 5ghz.

No setting required for myself at least.

router is without antenna type, model is DIR-850L.
will check on the cable tonight

same things happen again this morning, i try to restart the modem first, but still same have WIFI but without internet.
then i restart the router (DIR-850L), every work fine after that.
(Both light are green before restart)

So the problem is the router?  hmm.gif

I'm also facing the same issue like yours using DIR-850L even before the upgrade, like once a month.

What is your WiFi speed like if you don't mind me asking?

Has anyone achieve 500Mbps using the default router DIR-850L? WiFi 5ghz.
*
Don't think DIR-850L can hit 500mbps+- via WiFi 5ghz, correct me if i'm wrong.

However, it is achievable via wired connection.

I'm able to hit around 180Mbps only.
If someone able to hit around 500Mbps then it could be my area problem instead of the router.
*
First have you tried testing the speed via wired connection?

I'm hitting 210-230mbps via 5ghz WiFi connection, standing right next to the router (DIR-850L), like holding the phone & laptop next to it. As I move further away from the router the speed decreases.

What about your hardware at receiving end? Laptop (spec)? Mobile phone (spec)? Might be the limiting factor, just my 2 cent.

those of you here upgraded to 500mbps from 100, what download speed you get on wifi conencted devices? iirc before upgrade i can get up to 90mbps, now after upgrade only get around 50-60mbps. same device with same number of active connections at home
*
Different router & different hardware differs. Also distance.

For me I'm hitting 200-230mbps on 5ghz WiFi connection via DIR-850L, standing right next to the router, except for my desktop which is further away from the router.

Hi, I have a 500Mbps subscription with Time, but I can't reach this speed with the router they provided, Archer C1200, is there any way I can get an upgrade from Time? Or do I need to get one myself?
*
You can choose to buy their higher range router from their website to achieve their advertised speed.

I'm able to achieve 500mbps with D-Link DIR-882 on wireless, bought it myself though.

Guys, if their router is faulty and we need to fork out money to change router or to get the speed advertising..... Doesn't mean this like a scam ? Wtf. I know their speed is affordable but come on, why we consumer need to pay more to buy router ? Can I log complaint to government for action ?
*
Not sure about that. My old router DIR-850L given by TIME was able to achieve 500mbps on wired connection. Isn't this considered legit?

When my contract ended, TIME upgraded my internet plan from 100 to 500mbps. Therefore I upgraded the router myself due to the necessity to go wireless.

wanna ask noob question. I am on TIME 500 MBPS, on provider wireless router and Asus Strix z390-e gaming which is with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, i can only get ~160mbps (20mb/s download) on 5Ghz network. Any advice how to improve this; which part needs to be replaced for better speed? thx in advance.
On LAN, I can get full speed.

Intel® Wireless-AC 9560
‧ Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
‧ 2x2, supports MU-MIMO
